00:31Getting a good start and trying to get some clear track and as you can see there, Ed, the track
00:35looks quite nice and dry.
00:36That's under the trees where usually it's the last sort of place to dry that last sector.
00:41So I think we're in for a dry race at least.
00:44Certainly is good news.
00:45Those, especially the newbies, will be thankful that it's drying out nicely as they make their way to the grid
00:52positions.
00:53And for the first time of the 18 scheduled rounds in the 2026 Moto4 grid, you can see the last
01:04riders coming into position.
01:11Waiting for the lights then.
01:13It's 12 laps of the Alton Park race circuit at the first of three races here and we are underway.
01:22Let's see who, how they get on as they all chase their way down to the first corner.
01:27Nice start there from Ryan Frost.
01:30That's himself in to the front.
01:33Yeah, Dunneby got a great start there.
01:35He's in second place.
01:36Luke Fitchett's there in fourth place there.
01:39And I really expect good things from him, you know.
01:41He's come here and he's started off quite quickly already this weekend.
01:46As they file the way up the top, up towards Island Bend.
01:52A couple of issues here in the early rounds, round the outside, early doors, going brave early.
01:58Jack Burrows out, he's having a right go first of all.
02:00He's not waiting around into shell hairpin there, into the shell oils.
02:04Yeah, he's not waiting around.
02:05Straight round the outside of Island.
02:06That's a fast turn there.
02:07You've got a lot of brakes running in there.
02:10Definitely feeling comfortable already.
02:13Settles into that second position.
02:15Still out in front it is.
02:18Ryan Frost really wanting to get to the front, set the pace early.
02:23Down the hill then in his lobs.
02:27Yeah, Ryan Frost, obviously very experienced.
02:30You know, got a good few years in this class now, in this championship.
02:33And he kind of knows what he needs to do.
02:35And towards end the last season, he really did sort of show his potential.
02:38So, I think he's not going to want to wait around.
02:41You know, Jack Burrows can probably sense that he wants to push on and try and get a little breakaway.
02:44So, he's going to try and go with him.
02:46And these first few laps, Ed, it's so important to just try and settle in and go with the lead
02:50group.
02:51Because when you start trying to overtake each other, that's when you start to lose a little bit of a
02:55grip on the lead pack.
02:57And it makes the rest of the race quite hard work.
02:59Yeah, well, the top three are one to set out their stall early.
03:02Nice take there by Burrows.
03:04He goes out the inside, coming into that penultimate bent.
03:07What is interesting, Danny, is that the top three were over half a second clear of everybody else in qualifying.
03:13So, that's why we're seeing already after just a lap and changing of the lead, ref, right and centre.
03:19This is what we expect to see from this championship all season long.
03:23Yeah, Dunne will be there, weren't waiting around.
03:24He went out the outside, look at him.
03:26Three abreast into Cascades there.
03:28That's not a, yeah, that's blind downhill right-hander there.
03:33And then obviously goes into the left at Cascades.
03:34And, yeah, these three aren't messing about.
03:36But what's that, what's going to allow, you know, the likes of Edmonds and that to come back in?
03:40Because, you know, when they're overtaken, they're not going as fast.
03:42And Burrows likes the outside line.
03:44Look at him, around the outside there.
03:45And he's going to go around the outside of Dunneby.
03:48Oh, great.
03:49Right from the get-go.
03:50You can see these lads aren't here to play.
03:53On Shell Oil, no issue.
03:54Head down for Dunneby.
03:57Frost must be thinking, what have I got to do to get rid of these little, uh, the youngsters, so
04:01to speak, the younger youngsters, so to speak.
04:03But, oh, Burrows a bit wide there.
04:04Yeah, that will compromise his exit over the hill here.
04:07Well, Frost looking to capitalise on that.
04:09A little bit of breathing space there for Dunneby as he comes down the hill.
04:12Yeah, like you say, Edmonds being brought back into it with that battle for second.
04:17Just tripping each other up slightly.
04:18Everything, concertina-ing behind.
04:20And Dunneby is trying to just keep his head down.
04:23See if he can steal a bit of a march on the rest of them.
04:26Yeah, that's the thing.
04:27Like, Dunneby, you know, he knows that if they're going to mess each other up, it's going to allow everyone
04:31else to get on the back of this group.
04:33And as you've seen there, you know, a small mistake by Burrows in that sector, too, just allows Edmonds that
04:38little bit more to close that gap.
04:40And, you know, as a rider, once you see that gap closing, you know, it's like you're chasing that carrot.
04:46Well, there they go.
04:47Front three, three abreast again.
04:48Up the inside.
04:49Nice work from Burrows.
04:50Recovering from the mistake halfway around this second lap as they come.
04:55And back round towards that start, finish straight.
04:58Dunneby looking comfortable.
05:00At some point, you wonder whether these, you know, when these two tripping each other up with Burrows and Frost,
05:07just allowing Edmonds to hang on to it.
05:09And all of a sudden, he's going to find himself, as you can see, fastest lap there from Edmonds, getting
05:13into the groove, learning from what's happening in front of him.
05:16And then you never know.
05:18All things can come to those who are able to absorb all that information.
05:23Yeah, and just as the front three were tripping each other up that last lap, Clayton Edmonds is the fastest
05:28lap for 146.954.
05:31So that allowed him, you know, to get on the back of this front three.
05:34And all of a sudden, he's into a podium fight.
05:41Nice work as they come round, Shell Oils.
05:43Oh, that's tight there.
05:47Oh, you just cannot catch your breath.
05:50Dunneby back to the front.
05:52Ryan Frost just trying to get himself back towards the back of Burrows.
06:00Yeah, Burrows is really late on the breaks, as we can see here, just right as I said that.
06:05Yeah, he is not scared.
06:07Yeah, Burrows was in this class last year.
06:09Talented lad.
06:10I've seen him on track.
06:11And look, that just compromised Ryan Frost.
06:12And before you know it, look, he could drop back from third place straight down to fifth place.
06:17So, yeah, it's one of these smaller CC bikes, you really want to keep the momentum, especially around this Alton
06:23Park circuit.
06:24So that small little mistake he's made there has really compromised this lap.
06:27And I'm interested to see how much time he's lost on this lap.
06:30But the front two there are just trying to get away.
06:33What Burrows doesn't need to do is try and overtake Dunneby and really ruin their rhythm.
06:38He needs to come and sit behind him and just try and get pulled away.
06:41And then they can fight for the lead in the closing stages of the race.
06:47There you go, Ryan Frost now trying to play catch up after almost outbreaking himself.
06:53Edmunds in a battle with Holt.
06:55Holt coming back into it nicely, putting in some quick sectors, recognizing that there's been a bit of the guys
07:01in front of him tripping each other up.
07:02He wants to capitalize on that opportunity.
07:05And Burrows doing exactly what he said, Dunne.
07:07Danny, just trying to slot in behind and compromise the fact that they're getting into this rhythm.
07:16Yeah, well, if you look on that last lap, obviously the first two in the race here, Dunneby and Burrows
07:22did 46 nines.
07:23They kind of matched each other's lap time.
07:25And then we see Frost with a 47.5 and that's a massive loss because, you know, they've not got
07:30many laps left.
07:30So it's, you know, they need to be just staying as close as they can.
07:35And that's all you really want is to be in the fight for the finals or closing stages last four
07:40or four laps.
07:41Without that, you know, you're just fighting for a podium or, you know, fifth or sixth.
07:46Frost trying to bridge the gap to those front two.
07:50This battle for fifth, fourth and fifth there.
07:55Edmunds and Holt, those two trying again, similarly, not to try and take lumps out of each other.
08:00Trying to allow themselves to work cleanly so they can carry that speed and continue to try and hang on
08:06to the back of Frost.
08:07But Frost is looking like he's bridging that gap.
08:09This is going to be a quick time from Frost as he's getting himself into that groove.
08:13That mistake that he made a couple of laps ago as he outbroke himself.
08:16Learned those and look at the back. He's on to the back of those leading duo again.
08:21Yeah, this is going to be a really fast time by Ryan Frost here.
08:24Again, he can keep touching back and his experience.
08:26But with experience, you know, he knows probably not to get flustered in these situations.
08:29Just deal with what's happening in front of him and then try and make the best out of what he's
08:33got.
08:33And, you know, this lap, he's just on a 45-9.
08:36So he's took a big chunk out of him then.
08:37And if he can get ahead and get a couple of those, you know, mid-45s,
08:41that will probably be enough to win the race as we see him off.
08:43Oh, that's the Citylifting duo, the RS Racing Citylifting duo.
08:48And, yeah, Marco Holt doing a really good job there.
08:51Peyton Epplund's had a really good performance last year, to be fair.
08:54Towards the end of the year, he really showed some more potential.
08:58And, yeah, I mean, they're doing a great job.
09:00Great little team as well.
09:03The team is pushing each other along, but out in front, that three, from the front row of the grid,
09:09fighting for the victories out the inside, Burrows, a tough pass on Dunabee.
09:15Burrows is quite tall, so when you see him then coming onto the straights,
09:19he really has to try and fold himself up in that little, on that, here he's like really tucking himself
09:26in
09:26to try and get himself behind the bubble there.
09:29And, yeah, he's doing a great job.
09:30But Dunabee looks like he's had a gross burp over the winter.
09:35He looks a bit taller now.
09:38Flexibility key to getting behind the bubble there.
09:40Yeah, massively, yeah.
09:41Yeah, as much as, you know, as much as physically these bikes are hard to ride,
09:44you know, motorcycles in general, the flexibility side is massively important,
09:48especially with injuries.
09:49You know, if you're hitting the tarmac and having a crash, you want to be flexible.
09:52So I feel sorry, you know, these guys, they end up growing over winter,
09:57and, you know, they have to then try and fit.
09:59And they obviously, with that, comes a bit of weight gain,
10:01and they have to try and fit on these little bikes, so.
10:03Make sure the leathers have got a bit of growing space over the winter, over the summer.
10:07Yeah, I think the parents are just keeping him in, trying to keep him in vices.
10:10Oh, that was close.
10:12Frost.
10:13Well, he's not short.
10:14He's not short of confidence, he or bravery coming into these sections,
10:17trying to get himself to the front.
10:19As we've seen, he's got the pace, he's got the quickest lap of the race already,
10:23so really wants to be in the hunt, but he keeps tripping himself up, really,
10:27as out in front burrows, and now followed by Dunabee.
10:31Frost just needs to, he just needs to get himself to the front, doesn't he?
10:34And then you feel like he'll be happy, but at the moment,
10:36he's just willing to chuck passes, or trying to chuck these passes,
10:39wherever he gets a sniff, and almost needs to just bide his time,
10:42wait for a good opportunity, not a 50-50 one.
10:45No, exactly.
10:47So what Dunabee's doing there, he's slowing himself down,
10:50he's in his slipstream there, and basically what he's done,
10:52he's opening his legs up there to slow himself down,
10:54which sounds a bit funny, but they do these sort of things to try and stay behind,
10:58and I guess he's trying to keep himself there.
11:00I don't know why, maybe a little bit of a race tactic he sort of thought of during the race,
11:05but look who's coming back into this group now.
11:07They're tripping each other up, and obviously Clayton Edmonds and Marco Holt
11:11are coming back into this fight for the podium,
11:13and if I'm now in this podium fight, personally, I'm thinking,
11:16I want to be, you know, three of us fighting for the podium, not five of us.
11:20Yeah, but the front three about to be a front five
11:24as out in front Burrows takes to the, takes the lead,
11:31comes up, it comes up the hill, but Danny, you're so right,
11:36these guys just somehow fold themselves behind these screens,
11:39love to see how tight they're being,
11:42coming down into Druids, looking up the inside,
11:44slight there from Dunabee, Dunabee not quite close enough.
11:48All right, and then we've got Clayton Edmonds now.
11:50Look, he's joined the party.
11:51There's five of them now for, you know, fighting for the victory,
11:54and I feel like Dunabee thinks he might have a little bit more pace,
11:58you know, slowing himself up.
11:59Obviously, he looks a little bit out of the group,
12:02a little bit scattier than the other guys.
12:04I mean, Ryan Frost, you know, he's there again with the experience.
12:06He knows what's coming his last, his last sort of three, four laps.
12:10So, yeah, I'm excited to see how this unfolds,
12:13but the front three almost need to just stay together
12:16and just let Jack Burrows do the work,
12:19pull him away from the guys behind,
12:20and then just, you know, dice it out for that win.
12:24Well, Dunabee's now set, sorry,
12:26Edmonds has now set the fastest lap of the race,
12:28which is why that leading trio has now become a quartet,
12:32maybe even a quintuple, as you can see.
12:35Holt going quickly as well,
12:37putting in quicker lap times than that leading three.
12:39That's why everything's concertina-ing slightly,
12:41although it looks like Burrows just getting a little bit of daylight.
12:45Frost might want to put down a bit more of a sort of more aggressive pass
12:49if he doesn't want to let Burrows get too far away.
12:53No, Burrows is doing a really good job here.
12:56You know, last year, he's, from last year to now,
12:58he's really stepped it up a level, and, you know, he's doing a really good job,
13:03and he's right out there under braking.
13:06You know, he's a bit taller as well,
13:07so he can brake a lot later and a lot harder,
13:10and, you know, Dunabee as well in second place there.
13:12He's doing a great job.
13:13I feel like for the season, Dunabee's probably coming as one of the favourites,
13:17you know, after last year's performance,
13:18and especially Ryan Frost with the top two moving out of the championship,
13:21Ryan Frost being there as well, I think he's going to do a good job,
13:24and anyone who the Irish racing team choose, you know,
13:28they're there to fight for championships as we see Frost up on the side.
13:31It's fast there.
13:33It's, as we said, bravery of the utmost from Frost
13:37as he now tries to establish himself in,
13:39but Dunabee's having nothing of it and comes back up the inside.
13:43This is all playing into Burrows' hands that he's gapped,
13:45that gap just getting slightly bigger,
13:47and also just allowing Edmonds and Holt just to get that sniffing there,
13:50and all of a sudden, if they can show half a wheel,
13:53the rest of the racers need to be looking out
13:56because Holt's up the inside of his team-mates.
13:58Oh, no, he isn't.
14:00That was so close, yeah, and, you know,
14:03these are young guys and girls,
14:05and they're learning their trade and learning their craft,
14:08so, you know, they're going to make mistakes like that day,
14:10you know, Edmonds just let the brake off
14:12and was like, no, you are not passing me,
14:14get back behind me, you know,
14:16I'm the superior one,
14:18and, yeah, I mean, these guys here,
14:21Dunabee and Frost messing each other up like they are,
14:24it's just allowing Burrows,
14:25just that, you know, over the line,
14:27he had, you know, nearly three tenths of a second,
14:29so if they can...
14:30Well, it's just that breathing space as well, isn't it?
14:32Just a little bit of mental breathing space, physical,
14:34you're just not having,
14:35you can feel that the next person isn't right behind you.
14:38Yeah, and especially if you come over the line
14:40and you've got 0.00 on your board,
14:42you start to think, all right,
14:43I've got to try and up the pace a little bit here,
14:44but, you know, if you see two tenths,
14:46it's like, it just relaxes you a little bit,
14:48and then you see another two tenths,
14:49and it's up to half a second,
14:52but now, look, it's down to nothing.
14:55Oh, Frost up the inside,
14:57he's been lining that move up for a couple of laps,
14:59gets it done in front of Dunabee,
15:00Dunabee then comes into the clasp of Edmonds and Holt,
15:05just trying to see what Frost is going to be able to do
15:09as Frost now gets his head down
15:10and tries to make some inroads into that Burrows lead.
15:14I feel like Marco can, there in fifth place,
15:17I really feel like he can,
15:18if he gets ahead of Clayton Edmonds,
15:20he might be able to get into that podium fight,
15:22but, you know, he's had a couple of little goes now,
15:25Clayton's shut the door on him,
15:26look, as we see up inside into Dunabee now,
15:29nice.
15:31Oh, exceeding track limits, Edmonds.
15:34Ooh.
15:35Yeah, that's not good, that's not good,
15:37but that was probably to do with the overtake into turn one there,
15:42so, yeah, let's see what...
15:44Oh!
15:47Clayton Edmonds, I believe that is,
15:49yeah, Clayton Edmonds has gone down.
15:53Oh, from a battle,
15:54that's how quickly it goes,
15:55right in a flash.
15:57Out in front though, Burrows and Frost,
15:59allowing that to just give them a bit of breathing space,
16:02but such a shame for Edmonds.
16:05He was right in the hunt there.
16:06Yeah, five down to four,
16:08I'm not quite sure what happened there,
16:09I didn't quite, you know,
16:09I didn't quite see,
16:10I was looking at the lap times at the time,
16:12but it looked like we were going to get a replay here,
16:14so as you come down the hill,
16:15he's gone back his gears,
16:16he's turned the bike in,
16:18he just had too much speed,
16:19and literally the front looked like
16:21he had a little bit of chatter
16:22and just tucked the front,
16:24but, yeah,
16:25he looked like he was carrying a little bit too much speed
16:26at that point.
16:27Data never lies,
16:28and they'll be able to extract that when they get back.
16:30Well, that won't make it any sweeter.
16:32The only thing is,
16:34they'll turn that bike around,
16:35see if they can get that fixed,
16:36but look at this,
16:37Frost set the fastest lap of the race last time out,
16:40desperately trying to give Burrows a bit of a headache
16:43after Burrows had been riding with fresh air around him.
16:47Now it's nothing to separate them,
16:48but that little gap between Dunabee and now Holt
16:54extended out
16:54in half a second or so between them.
16:57Yeah, and Holt's there now,
16:57he's in the fight for the podium,
16:59and just looking back a little bit further,
17:01you know,
17:01you've got Luke Fitchett down there in sixth place,
17:03he's only 6.6 off the leader,
17:06so not very far at all.
17:08You've got Harrison Day there in 11th place,
17:10it's his first season in this paddock,
17:12so he's doing a great job,
17:14just as we see Frost look,
17:15he's had a little go,
17:16and one thing Frost was good at last year
17:18was he had a real good ability to pass,
17:21you know,
17:22he had a real good level of aggression,
17:23he didn't really sit behind people too long,
17:25and I feel like now it's his third season
17:27in this championship,
17:30albeit, you know,
17:30it's a new championship,
17:31and it's his fourth season,
17:33third season of the bike,
17:34and I really think he wants to just get moving with it,
17:36and he wants to solidify himself,
17:39you know,
17:39as a title fighter early on,
17:43and a lot can,
17:44you know,
17:44you can lose a championship at round one,
17:46you can't win one,
17:46but just as I say that,
17:48Burrows is straight back,
17:50and he really likes his sixth one.
17:54Well,
17:55it looks like Dunabee
17:57is definitely not wanting to
17:58give this one away just yet,
18:01the top two giving each other,
18:02and the rest of us watching,
18:04a couple of little heart flutters
18:06as it gets timed
18:07on the quickest corners of the track,
18:10Burrows then out in front,
18:11Frost just behind him,
18:13that two-way battle,
18:15pretty much a four-way battle now
18:16as Dunabee's been dragging Holt
18:17back towards the front.
18:19Yeah,
18:20Burrows would love this,
18:21I believe it would be his first win
18:22in the class,
18:23and what a way to start
18:24your championship off,
18:25you know,
18:25look,
18:26oh,
18:26Frosty's so good there,
18:27and what astounds me at Old Park
18:29is it's such a,
18:31you know,
18:32the first sector's really
18:33sort of fast and flowy,
18:34then it tightens up
18:35through the second sector,
18:36opens up a bit
18:37through this third sector,
18:38and then sort of tightens up
18:39at the last sector,
18:39and although there's
18:42really different characteristics
18:43to this track,
18:44it's how much the race yo-yos,
18:46like we've seen him have a gap,
18:47we've seen him close up,
18:48we've seen him get a gap,
18:49we've seen him close up again,
18:50and all of a sudden now,
18:52we've got four guys in the,
18:53in the fight for the,
18:54for the race win.
18:55Yeah,
18:56coming up towards
18:57two laps to go,
18:59and,
19:00oh,
19:00Holt looking up the inside,
19:02as,
19:02as that is,
19:03Dunneby then up into second position,
19:08I really think,
19:09I really think Holt can have a go at this,
19:10I really think once he gets that overtake,
19:12he seems to sort of make the move,
19:14but then hesitates just that little bit,
19:16and,
19:17you know,
19:17they need to,
19:18if they're going to just overtake,
19:20they need to overtake.
19:21well,
19:21there you go,
19:23Holt is,
19:24Holt is moving,
19:25and he's moving up into that third position,
19:27you saw Dunneby and Frost,
19:29just taking a couple of chunks out of each other,
19:31and Holt's just been able to,
19:32stay relatively quiet,
19:34relatively under the radar,
19:35just doing his thing,
19:37keeping it calm,
19:37keeping it simple,
19:38and finds himself in the hunt for a podium in his first season.
19:42Yeah,
19:42I believe Jenson Bishop's just crashed out,
19:44I think he was in ninth place at the time,
19:45we're in the,
19:46in the battle there for,
19:47for eighth place at least,
19:48and,
19:49yeah,
19:50it's unfortunate,
19:51it happens,
19:51you know,
19:51as you see Clayton Edmonds,
19:52tuck the front at the turn one,
19:53you know,
19:53it's a learning curve,
19:54and you have to go through all sorts of things,
19:56throughout your racing career,
19:58to,
19:59he's fast there,
20:00early Holt.
20:02Oh,
20:02well,
20:02Holt has been keeping it calm,
20:04keeping it quiet,
20:04but absolutely not willing to relinquish that third position,
20:07slam the door,
20:08didn't shut it,
20:09it's off its hinges,
20:10as out in front though,
20:13looking good here for Burrows,
20:16and Frost,
20:17he's the man that's been yo-yoing up and down,
20:19hasn't he,
20:20really quick,
20:21but just not able to keep it,
20:22as consistent as those around him.
20:26Yeah,
20:26with the help of Dunn and being a few others,
20:27oh,
20:27we've got a red flag there,
20:28I can see in the background,
20:29oh,
20:30Holt just saw that as well,
20:32so I believe they will go,
20:33that will probably go down to a race result,
20:35as Jordan Burrows there was,
20:38Jack Burrows,
20:39sorry,
20:40was a punch in,
20:42yeah.
20:43Definitely celebrating like it's at 27,
20:48day ends there for Cooper,
20:50from seventh position,
20:53and first win in the championship then for Jack Burrows,
20:56sets the pace on the first of the 18 races,
21:00that are scheduled across the 2026 season,
21:03and the race later on today,

21:20it's the first race for these guys,

21:23everyone's sort,
21:24now they've all got a bit of something to work on,

21:27Jack Burrows there is going to start and say,

21:30that's going to put a bit of wind in his,
21:31in his cell,
21:32so to speak,

21:33yeah,
21:34he's going to be there,
21:34Dunabee knows,
21:35he's going to be there for the season,
21:37Ryan Frost knows what he's got to do to win,
21:39and,
21:40yeah,
21:41you almost got to feel a bit for Ryan Frost,

21:42like when you think,
21:43I'm going to come into the season strong,
21:44and then you've got the whippersnappers back,

21:47Marco Holt,
21:47the top two go out of the championship,

21:49this is now,
21:49time to win,

21:54Marco Holt there in fourth place,
21:55like what a fantastic ride,
21:57obviously Clayton Edmonds crashed out of fourth place,
21:59and he was there,
21:59he's going to be there later today.

22:04Jack Burrows,
22:05there you go,
22:06first victory for him,
22:08at the back of,

39:17it's less about that,
39:17it's about getting the turn down quick,
39:19getting it on the fat part of the tyre,
39:20and he just said,
39:21I'm rushing into the back of people in places,
39:23and yet they're making me look silly in others,
39:25and that's exactly what he's talking about,
39:27and that little just change in style,
39:29is what turns you into a super bike rider.
39:30Have you seen the picture,

39:33and his dad's got it on his phone,
39:35the lean angle,
39:36that they're going into the chicane,
39:37unreal,
39:38it's like he's crashing,
39:39but he didn't,

39:46and the thing's up the road.
39:46And it's such a subtle adjustment,
39:48but it's such a critical adjustment,
39:49if you want to make it on a super bike,
39:51but he's clever enough,
39:52he's young enough,
39:52I'm sure he'll figure it out.
