Highlights of race 1 of the 10th round of the 2025 BSB (British Superbike Championship) from Oulton Park on the 4th October 2025.
01:25 - Race Starts (Round 28)
Transcript
00:30Hello there. Welcome to Alton Park. Highlights on the way from race one of the penultimate round of the Bennett's British Superbike Championship. Kyle Ride arriving here with a 31 point advantage over Bradley Ray at the top of the standings. But it was a wet and wild weekend all around. And there were tyre choices to be made on the grid ahead of race one. Taking us through it. James Whitton and Steve Day.
00:52A bit of an odd ball front row. Nesbitt on the master back Honda is on pole. These are the two fighting out for the championship. They've both gone for wet. We don't know whether it's soft or hard compound. There is Dean Harrison with the gamble on an inter. They can't afford to gavel.
01:22At the back of the grid. And then we're good to go. Lights out. Good start from Storm Stacey. A rocket start from Stacey. In fact, he'll surely get the whole shot into turn one. Bradley Ray got away well as well. He's up the inside into third. Oh, and just running around the outside. There was Kyle Ride.
01:39He didn't got a problem. Oh, yeah, maybe. Maybe some sort of issue there. So down the hill. We go. It is. Christian Eden has. Yeah, he's not there. I don't know what's happened there. Definitely match. Cool. Storm Stacey it is that leads though. Bradley Ray has got up into second spot. That was aggressive. First few corners from Brad and he needed it as well. Just through Island Bend for the first time. Remember, these guys have not in anger gone into the corners like this. They have got no idea what they're about to be faced for.
02:09Yeah, yeah, you can see a few of them then into pit lane. They've changed their minds maybe. Jackson included in that. And you think they've gone into pit lane after that. After the warm up block to change. Yeah, they have. They've gone on to drives. Yeah. So those that maybe. And if Christian Eden is saying that. That those who have gambled on inters may well succeed. Yep, I'd agree with you. There you can see just coming through. Brooks is coming through. Watch out for number 25 on the Dow Racing Honda. He is one that's gambled for drive.
02:39Kyle Ride there. Immediately trying to wrestle with Tommy Bridewell and going through as well. Yeah, Brooks is on the drier part of the track now and it gets really quite wet when you're going down in. Well, this around Druids and down at Lodge Corner. He's wet. He's going to be careful there.
02:52Josh Brooks has won plenty around here. Nine times a winner at Alton Park. Looking for his first win of the season. Fraser Rogers now up alongside Storm Stacey in the wettest part of the circuit.
03:03So this is where Brooks will struggle a bit. Down into the final corner. Over the line to complete that one. It will be Rogers who leads. Yep, there's not a lot of line walk on the track. So with an intake, if you can get the heat into it, then you have a chance even on the damper part of the track.
03:18Just to confirm, those who have exited pit lane on the new tyres, because it's the start of the race, will be able to set a time to move them up the grid for the race tomorrow.
03:31Yeah, the time wouldn't have counted if they'd have done a lap or two and then come in.
03:34The two most experienced riders in the field, Josh Brooks and Leon Haslam. 7th and 8th with Interzon.
03:47This is the wettest part of the circuit. Fraser Rogers is your race leader. Through on Brad Ray goes Tommy Bridewell.
03:54And I wonder, you know, whether Brad's gone for the soft wet and those around him maybe have gone for the harder wet.
03:59That is what I'm thinking exactly, because he's just struggling. The thing's moving already. Even on corner entry. Look, even on corner entry, he's moving around.
04:09Haslam is through. He moves up into 8th place. Oh, who's that? Pulling over on the right-hand side. Reading. Oh, Reading's just exiting pit lane.
04:19Yeah, just come out of pit lane. Yeah, we are hearing from the Pirelli people that it is exactly what we're thinking.
04:26Brad Ray on the softer, rear wet, and Kyle Ride on the harder, and that's going to stand him in good stead, and that's why Brad Ray's sliding around already.
04:34But even so, you would think at the end of this race, even a hard wet might not be working too well.
04:39Well, that's what Christian didn't think.
04:41Let's have a look.
04:43That 4 of 14. Fraser Rogers leading this one.
04:48Brooks now, a nice move on Nesbitt. You don't see too many moves pulled off into Britton's, but there is such a grip difference there.
04:58Yeah, there is, on that part of the track. Yep.
05:00Look at Haslam. It's absolutely charging through, along with Brooks.
05:04You would lay your house at this stage on both Haslam and Brooks being on the top two steps.
05:10Yes, you would. Yeah, you would.
05:11But, let's not forget the rain could fall again, and the race won't get stopped if it does.
05:16The problem with that is, Steve, that if you've ripped your rear tire to bits in the drying conditions, it's rain again.
05:22You need no better position than somebody...
05:24Because the wet's no longer effective.
05:25It's gone. Yeah, you've worn the tread off the wet.
05:29Out of Druids on the approach now to Lodge Corner.
05:31On the tag, Honda, Fraser Rogers looking for his second...
05:34He threw him of the ear in his first win.
05:36Yeah, and he did say, why not look for a win?
05:40Oh, that was a bit wide there from Tommy Bridewell.
05:43Down to Lodge Corner, over the line.
05:45Even with the wet, she's seen off the wet pattern track, and it slid.
05:50It's a good chunk quicker than everybody else on that last lap, as Leon has.
05:53And a 42.6 from him, and look at the drive he's got out of turn one.
05:58That's where you make... That's the biggest difference.
05:59It's out of the corners. You up the throttle.
06:01As soon as the 30-yard power's trying to spin that tyre loose of the tarmac,
06:06and it would with the wet, and he's just getting tons of drive.
06:09Carving through.
06:10With impunity.
06:11Carving through the field is Leon Haslam on the motor, Rapido, Ducati.
06:16He was fastest here yesterday in the wet.
06:17He was fastest this morning.
06:19A disappointing qualifying, but the gamble at the moment is paying off for Haslam.
06:23Number 91 there, now up into fourth place.
06:26And I've got to say, that's experience for you.
06:28I'm surprised that that Christian didn't got it as wrong as he did,
06:32but he knew immediately it was wrong after the warm-up lap, didn't he?
06:35Oh, look at the tyres.
06:36Squirming all over the place for Greg Ray.
06:37He's got nothing left.
06:38Nothing.
06:39And that's this early.
06:41Five out of 14, still got ten laps left.
06:43Now Leon Haslam approaching Kyle Ride, your championship leader.
06:47Josh Brookes all over the tail end now with Tommy Bridewell.
06:53Billy McConnell's up inside the top ten.
06:55Remember, Max Cook also gambled on an inter.
06:57He's in tenth.
06:58Through goes Leon.
06:59Oh, and that's Kyle Ride with a harder wet option,
07:02and Haslam just drove past him out of Mika Brook.
07:06Like a mobile chicane.
07:07It's honestly unbelievable, the difference.
07:10But here it is damp, so now Leon has to be a bit careful.
07:15Storm Stacey on this lap as well.
07:16He's closed that gap down.
07:17Ooh, look at Storm.
07:19Completely sideways going in.
07:21He did well to collect that.
07:24Over the line to complete another lap here at Alton Park.
07:28Fraser Rogers leads from Storm Stacey and Leon Haslam at the moment.
07:33This is good for the championship for Kyle Ride.
07:35Watch Storm in second.
07:36Storm Stacey.
07:36Look, and he says he doesn't use any rear brake.
07:39That's the overrun.
07:39It's changing down again.
07:40Let's the clutch out, and that locks the rear wheel up,
07:43and that's what you get sometimes.
07:45He's the master of that.
07:46He's Storm Stacey.
07:47Watch Haslam fly past Storm.
07:49Straight past.
07:49And in you, see Storm Stacey wave you on there?
07:55Now into Island Bend.
07:57And just one more rider to get through here.
07:59He's using all of the circuit.
08:00Yep.
08:01And you know when somebody comes past you
08:03with dry weather tyres on
08:05and you're on your wets,
08:07it's like having a knife at a gunfight.
08:09Honestly, there's nothing you can do.
08:10You let him go.
08:12Fastest rider with wet tyres on at the moment.
08:14Kyle Ride.
08:15He's doing really well here.
08:17Yeah.
08:17A 42.8 from him.
08:18This is where you're going to see the move.
08:20Leon Haslam now eating up
08:22the gap between himself and Fraser Rogers
08:24and threw on Fraser Rogers into his ease
08:28to lead the race.
08:30Yep.
08:30And that's quite easy.
08:31He doesn't have to do anything silly.
08:32Fraser may have a chance at getting back to him
08:34or getting back on top of him at Lodge,
08:38but I don't think so.
08:39And Fraser will see what tyres he's on as well.
08:41Completely.
08:41He'll know.
08:41You don't have to see that.
08:43You just have to see the outcome.
08:47Brooks now approaching Kyle Ride.
08:50Bradley Ray at the moment is in seventh spot.
08:53This is good for Kyle
08:55and the championship as things stand.
08:56I will guarantee that Kyle Ride
08:58has got a system worked out with his team
08:59and especially his dad
09:00who hangs the pit board over the pit wall every lap
09:04and he'll know.
09:04He'll be telling his son exactly
09:06where his championship rival is
09:07and letting the man that's got
09:10such a racing brain work it out.
09:12Yeah.
09:13I can't argue with that.
09:18Through turn one we go.
09:20Josh Brooks now looking to
09:22make use of his intermediates.
09:24Yeah, and also
09:27that OMG Nitrous
09:30competitions team
09:32are going to know exactly
09:33what tyre
09:34if they didn't already
09:35what the Brad Ray's got on
09:37and they'll be telling their man
09:38he doesn't have to do anything silly
09:40because he's got to
09:41Brad Ray's going to drop back from here.
09:43No, there's no way
09:44he can maintain his face
09:45in the softer way.
09:46Two and two for Brooks.
09:48He moves up now
09:49into third place
09:50and this has given an opportunity
09:51for Kyle Ride maybe
09:52to pounce on Storm Stacey
09:53as well.
09:54I'm worried Storm
09:55has got the softer
09:56of the wet son as well
09:57and he's struggling
09:58he looks to be struggling
09:59on corner entry at least.
10:01Yeah.
10:02Kyle
10:02of all of those
10:04so much more
10:06and he's going to make
10:07his move now
10:07on Storm Stacey
10:08and it should stick.
10:11He should get the Yamaha
10:12stop.
10:12And it does.
10:13Yeah.
10:14It's another place
10:15gained there
10:15from Kyle Ride.
10:16He's got to be
10:17canny-ass Kyle.
10:18He's got to know
10:18that his championship
10:19rivals way back
10:20and likely go back
10:21quicker than him
10:21and not take the best
10:23out of his weights.
10:24I mean,
10:24it is the harder option
10:26rear weight
10:27but it's still going to
10:28take a pounding
10:29from this.
10:29only about to come up
10:32to half-race distance
10:33as well.
10:34Meanwhile out front
10:351.7 seconds
10:37the lead for Leon Haslam.
10:38There he is
10:38number 91.
10:39Yeah.
10:40He doesn't have to do
10:41anything silly
10:41although this is a good
10:42lap from Josh Brooks
10:43this.
10:45Down into Lodge Corner
10:47and over Deer Leap.
10:50I'll check Brad Gray's
10:51lap times in a minute
10:51and see where
10:52he's featuring
10:53and whether or not
10:54he's running into trouble.
10:55Brooks was fastest.
10:56You're right, James.
10:5614.647
10:58for the Dow Honda rider.
10:59Yep.
11:07Two thirds distance
11:08completed
11:08is the message
11:09from race control.
11:10Which means
11:11if there was
11:11any kind of incident
11:12now causing a red flag
11:13all conditions came on
11:14so that it was
11:15unable,
11:16the race was unable
11:17to be continued
11:18then he won't be resolved.
11:19And Kyle here
11:20despite the conditions
11:22having a look
11:23into the chicane
11:24and that's risky.
11:25The question mark
11:26of a Kyle
11:26for a few years
11:27would he be able
11:28to press forward
11:29and press over
11:30attack for a championship
11:31and risk a bit
11:33and we've learnt
11:35recently that
11:36yes, he would.
11:37Yeah, we learnt that
11:37last year
11:38that when it matters.
11:39Yep, he can have a go,
11:40can't he?
11:41Yeah.
11:41Over the line then
11:42to start
11:44lap 11
11:45of 14.
11:46And the rain falling
11:48on this sector flag
11:49is now waving
11:49on the start and finish.
11:50You can see it
11:51out the window.
11:52So, yeah.
11:53There you go.
11:57Raindrops on the lens
11:58in the old, old corner.
11:59That's just here.
12:00That's about 100 yards
12:01from where we sat.
12:02Ooh.
12:04Through Cascades.
12:06Yep.
12:06Stacey now looking
12:07to try and get on terms
12:08with Fraser Rogers
12:09in the background.
12:10Catching at a high rate
12:12of knots
12:12is Tommy Bridewell.
12:13Yep.
12:14Remember, Tommy's got
12:15wet.
12:16And this is now
12:17a wet part
12:18of the track
12:19through Shell Oil.
12:23This is the battle
12:24for third.
12:25A podium here
12:25for Kyle Rye.
12:26What a ride
12:27it would be.
12:28Here is his
12:28championship rival
12:29struggling
12:30further back.
12:31That's actually
12:32Charlie Nesbitt.
12:33Nesbitt's in 10th.
12:34He's a couple of places up.
12:35There he is.
12:36Bradley Ray
12:36coming under attack now
12:37from Billy McConnell.
12:39And that's the fight
12:39for eighth place.
12:46Brad Ray, in fact,
12:47just put in his
12:47personal best
12:48first sector.
12:49It's such a hard race
12:50to cross.
12:51Tell you what,
12:51these lads aren't
12:52going to need
12:52rocking to sleep tonight.
12:53This takes so much
12:55mental capacity out of you.
12:57You're absolutely finished.
12:58Not because of
12:59what you've done physically.
13:00It's a little bit
13:01easier to ride
13:01in these conditions
13:02than in full drive
13:03because you've not
13:04got the limits
13:05of grip to contend with.
13:06But actually,
13:07mentally,
13:08it just drains you.
13:09Because you know
13:09that one little tiny mistake,
13:11you touch a white line,
13:12you get a little bit
13:12up the throttle
13:13a little bit too much
13:14and you're down the road.
13:17The leaders have just
13:20come over the line
13:20to start lap 12 of 14.
13:22Josh Brooks is
13:24nine-tenths down
13:26as Billy McConnell
13:27takes another precious
13:28point away
13:29from Brad Ray.
13:30Yep.
13:33This is going to...
13:35You can just see here
13:36the lead.
13:37That gap has come down.
13:39Yeah, we've got
13:39two and a half to go
13:41and this is exactly
13:43the right call
13:44from race control.
13:45For me,
13:46you can't change the weather
13:47but how you deal with it,
13:48you can.
13:48And they've done a good job.
13:49They have.
13:50They really have.
13:51More traffic up ahead
13:52but Josh Brooks now
13:52reeling in.
13:53Leon Haslam.
13:55This is the difference
13:56in terms of
13:57that last lap.
13:581.3 seconds.
14:00He ticked off him
14:00on the last lap
14:01and now he's closing
14:02to fight for the race lead.
14:03There's traffic up ahead.
14:04Josh Brooks here
14:05passes Leon Haslam.
14:07Brooks looking for
14:07his first win
14:08in a couple of years.
14:09That's Peter Hickman
14:10up the road there.
14:12He's going to be
14:12in the way in a minute.
14:15What a win this would be
14:16for Josh Brooks.
14:17Oh, Leon.
14:18I mean,
14:18he's won here already.
14:19His win this year
14:20came at this circuit
14:21but Josh Brooks
14:23will be wanting this.
14:24This would be
14:24win number 10
14:25at Alton Park
14:26for Josh Brooks.
14:27Yeah,
14:27but not for a while though.
14:28No, it's been a while.
14:30Of course,
14:30he was with...
14:31Oh, some I can't watch
14:33and Josh Brooks
14:34here trying to find
14:35a way through.
14:35He's having to go
14:36on the outside.
14:37He's lost a bit
14:38of time
14:38but not stacks
14:40of time.
14:41Yeah,
14:42Peter just went
14:42on the ball there
14:43and Josh had decided
14:45to go around
14:45the outside
14:46because there was
14:47no room on the inside
14:48when he got to the
14:48middle of the Druid's
14:50corner.
14:50We start the
14:51pronouncement lap
14:51of the race.
14:52It's Leon Haslam
14:53versus Josh Brooks.
14:57Well,
14:57looks like
14:58Leon's got the
14:59message here now.
15:01Kyle Ryde
15:02about to come
15:03over the line
15:03in third.
15:05Marshall's now
15:08vigorously waving
15:09the rain falling
15:10in this sector flag.
15:13Always off-footing.
15:14Always.
15:17Yeah,
15:18especially here.
15:19Yeah,
15:19when you're doing
15:20170 mile an hour
15:21and you're just
15:21going to turn
15:22into a island bend.
15:23Yeah.
15:24This is where
15:24Josh is quick.
15:26I just feel
15:26if he's going to have a go,
15:27he's only going to get
15:28one shot
15:28and he's probably
15:29going to be down
15:30into either
15:31Islop's
15:32or last-ditch
15:34chance down
15:34into Lodge.
15:36He needs to get it
15:37perfect from here.
15:37He needs to get a good
15:38run out of Islop.
15:39Sorry,
15:40out of the chicane
15:41and then get a good
15:42run over
15:43Hilltop.
15:44I don't think he's
15:45close enough,
15:45you know.
15:46Not on this occasion.
15:48Haslam going a bit
15:48defensive down
15:49into his east
15:50on this lap.
15:51This is the penultimate
15:51lap of the race.
15:52Yep.
15:53A reminder,
15:54it was declared
15:55a wet race.
15:56Most of the field
15:57went for wet
15:58but these two
15:58on screen
15:59gambled on inters
16:00and it has paid off
16:01but who stands
16:02on the top step?
16:04Is it Leon Haslam
16:05who's fighting
16:06for third
16:06in the championship
16:07or is it
16:07Josh Brooks
16:08who's looking
16:08to just salvage
16:09something at the end
16:10of a long
16:112025 season.
16:14Now racing Honda
16:15had their podium
16:17earlier in the year.
16:18He was third
16:18at Donington.
16:22Josh
16:22not even having
16:23a look.
16:24the penultimate
16:26time down
16:27at Lodge.
16:29He was close
16:29enough to have
16:30a go there.
16:31To me he says
16:31he might have
16:31a little bit
16:32of confidence
16:32there.
16:34Over the line
16:34to start
16:35the last lap.
16:36In terms of the
16:36championship
16:37Kyle Ryde
16:37is currently
16:38third.
16:38Brad Ray
16:39is ninth.
16:39It's been a good
16:40day at the office
16:40and a brave
16:41day for Kyle
16:42Ryde but now
16:42it's all eyes
16:43on the sharp
16:45end.
16:46Who takes glory
16:47in race one
16:47at Alton Park?
16:48Both fastest
16:49lap of their race.
16:50Haslam just a tad
16:52behind Josh Brooks
16:53into the 39s now.
16:54That's Blaise Baker
16:55just up ahead of them
16:56on the road
16:56and Christian
16:57Inden also.
16:57Yeah on completely
16:59the wrong tyres now.
17:02Sitting up and out
17:03of the way
17:03is Blaise Baker.
17:04Brooks then
17:05he has got
17:06two chances.
17:07That's what he's got.
17:07Yeah.
17:08Around Shell Oil
17:09and he's building up
17:10good speed there.
17:11He's got to get.
17:12Britain's absolutely
17:13spot on to have
17:14a chance then
17:14over the hilltop.
17:15He can't have a go
17:16into Britain's.
17:16He's going to have
17:17a look.
17:18Oh that was brilliant
17:19from the Australian.
17:21What a move
17:22from Brooks
17:23and he's caught
17:23Leon napping a bit
17:24there and I don't
17:25think Leon liked
17:25that much.
17:26Leon immediately
17:27retaliates and now
17:28he has the inside
17:29line but he can't
17:29get through.
17:30Yeah I didn't think
17:31Josh would go that
17:32early because he
17:33gives now.
17:34He hands it back
17:34to Haslam to have
17:35a go down into
17:37his locks which
17:38he's failed to do.
17:39One chance for
17:40Leon now.
17:41Leon Haslam just
17:42one more opportunity
17:43then and that will
17:43be into the final
17:44corner and he
17:45will have a look.
17:46Will Josh Brooks
17:47go defensive?
17:48The checker flag
17:49is being made ready
17:50in front of us
17:50here in the
17:50comms box.
17:51Around we go
17:52Druids and now
17:54the approach to
17:54Lodge.
17:55Leon doesn't look
17:56close enough at
17:57this particular
17:57stage but does
17:58Josh go defensive?
18:00A little bit but
18:01he's got in first.
18:02This is Josh's
18:02to lose now.
18:04Brilliant.
18:05That racing may
18:05well have a race
18:06win and Josh Brooks
18:08has won again.
18:09Bad Boys back.
18:11What a great race
18:12from the Australian.
18:13He takes
18:14glory here
18:15ahead of Leon
18:16Haslam.
18:18They both
18:19gambled and it
18:20paid off and
18:20what a ride from
18:22Kyle who's about
18:23to come over the
18:23line here to
18:24take third in
18:25what could be
18:26quite possibly
18:26the most important
18:27podium of his
18:28life.
18:28Completely.
18:29That's a champion
18:30winning ride that.
18:31Third place in a
18:32very difficult race
18:34for Kyle Rye.
18:35Congrats to him.
18:36Fourth for
18:36Rodgers, fifth for
18:37Stacey, sixth for
18:38Bridewell.
18:39Cook is seventh.
18:40And this is
18:41Brad Ray struggling
18:42on that soft
18:43rear wet over
18:44the line.
18:45Good ride for him
18:46on that tyre.
18:49This is a move.
18:50You don't often
18:51see this.
18:51It came where we
18:52didn't expect it.
18:53It definitely came
18:53where Leon Haslam
18:54didn't expect it.
18:55That hands, I won't
18:57say the advantage
18:59back to Leon but
18:59certainly gave him a
19:00chance to get back
19:01and that's, that's
19:02somehow, look at
19:03that, I mean, I
19:04think it means
19:04something to her.
19:05I mean, listen, we
19:06know how passionate
19:07they are.
19:08It's gutting for
19:09Leon Haslam.
19:11Let's get the
19:12results in for you
19:12then.
19:14It is a win for
19:14Brooks.
19:15He got it on the
19:15final lap ahead of
19:16Leon Haslam after
19:17they both gambled
19:18an intermediate.
19:1920 seconds adrift
19:20but perhaps the most
19:21important podium for
19:22Kyle Rye.
19:22He was third ahead
19:23of Rodgers, Stacey
19:24Bridewell, Cook,
19:25Billy McConnell
19:258, Brad Ray
19:27in ninth.
19:31Championship
19:32standings then
19:33crucially and this
19:35is significant.
19:36That's a good
19:37comfortable advantage.
19:38Kyle Rye is 43
19:40points up on Brad
19:41Ray with Leon
19:42Haslam there third
19:43ahead of Skinner,
19:44Bridewell, Iden
19:45Kent, Reading,
19:46Cook and Brooks.
19:48Kyle Rye, you're
19:49standing here in
19:50front of me.
19:50We've just been
19:50chatting off camera
19:51looking a little bit
19:52disappointed but
19:53reality is extended
19:55your championship
19:55lead.
19:56First person home
19:57on wet tyres and
19:58for me that was a
19:59fantastic performance.
20:00Yeah, that was the
20:01plan.
20:01Once we set off
20:02and it was going
20:02to be difficult,
20:03I didn't know
20:03it was on
20:04Inters.
20:05Obviously, I looked
20:05behind me and
20:05seeing Josh and
20:06Leon was on
20:07Inters.
20:07Once they come
20:08past the four,
20:08well, those two
20:09were first and
20:09second and it
20:10was just a case
20:10of trying to win
20:11the wet battle.
20:13It was difficult
20:14for sure.
20:14The tyres was
20:15absolutely red hot.
20:16The front was
20:17protesting everywhere.
20:18Just happy to get
20:19it home.
20:19Lucky third position
20:20because if anyone
20:21else chose Inters
20:22they'd definitely
20:22beat us but
20:23yeah, worked
20:24out for that one
20:24and yeah, first
20:25wet tyre coming
20:26home so yeah,
20:27good.
20:28Great job,
20:28well done,
20:28Kyle.
20:28Thank you,
20:29mate, cheers.
20:30Right, second
20:30place then,
20:31just congratulating
20:31Kyle, is Leon
20:32Haslam.
20:33Leon, you know,
20:34right up to the
20:35end there, it
20:35looked like you
20:36had that in the
20:36bag.
20:38Yeah, just come
20:38up a tiny bit
20:39short at the end
20:39but what a
20:40performance.
20:40Brave gamble
20:41with the
20:41intermediate tyres
20:42nearly paid
20:43off.
20:43Yeah, honestly,
20:44I knew that once
20:45I'd done the
20:45first lap, I knew
20:46that we were
20:46going to be
20:46battling.
20:47I knew Josh
20:47was on the
20:48same tyres and
20:48he got a
20:49better start than
20:50me and I
20:50tracked him down
20:51and managed
20:52to pass him
20:52and once I
20:52got to the
20:53lead I
20:53thought, oh,
20:54this is easy
20:54now, just kind
20:55of take my
20:55time and it
20:56started to rain
20:57so then I
20:57backed off even
20:58more and I
20:59knew Josh was
20:59there and I
21:00did feel like I
21:01was running at
21:0180% and as
21:02soon as I
21:02started to push
21:03I started to
21:03lose the rear so
21:04it was a fun
21:05race, obviously
21:06disappointed not
21:07to get the win
21:07after leading that
21:08but yeah, Josh
21:09definitely had a
21:10go and he made
21:11it count so
21:12we'll roll on to
21:12tomorrow.
21:13I was going to
21:13say, two more
21:14opportunities tomorrow
21:14Leon, well
21:15done for today.
21:16Right then, it's
21:17been a while
21:17since we've said
21:18this, I'm not
21:19sure where he is,
21:19here he comes,
21:20Josh Brooks,
21:20it's like 2018
21:21revisited there,
21:22yourself and Leon
21:23battling for wins.
21:24Mate, you must be
21:25absolutely over the
21:26moon, what a
21:26tyre choice, what a
21:27performance, well
21:28done.
21:29Yeah, of course,
21:31yeah, thrill, I
21:31never, I didn't, I
21:32was starting to
21:32wonder if this would
21:33ever come again,
21:34you know, we've had
21:35so many great results
21:36and wins and yeah,
21:37it's been a long
21:38time but yeah, in
21:40the race I saw when
21:41I looked over my
21:42shoulder, Leon was
21:43on intermediates the
21:44same as me and I
21:45did genuinely think
21:46that was the correct
21:47choice and it turns
21:48out to be true
21:49and so once the
21:51race sort of got
21:51into a rhythm, I
21:53was trying not to
21:53take too much risk
21:54early on, I knew
21:55the tyre would be
21:56better at the end
21:56and then it ended
21:57up just being me and
21:58Leon sort of racing
21:59each other and as
22:02the rain started to
22:03come a second time
22:04towards the end of
22:04the race, Leon
22:05started to gap me
22:06again and I was
22:07actually starting to
22:07catch him like as
22:08if the tyre, his
22:09tyre had gone too
22:10hot and stopped
22:11working as well and
22:12I was really catching
22:13him and then when the
22:14rain came I lost
22:15contact again and
22:16then towards the end
22:17it changed again and
22:18I knew our pace was
22:20so well matched, I
22:21had to take him by
22:21surprise, I couldn't
22:22do like a conventional
22:23pass because he'd be
22:24there to pounce back
22:26and so I just sort of
22:28lined up a position
22:28that I've done in years
22:30before that I knew was
22:31possible but would take
22:33the other rider a bit
22:33by surprise and maybe
22:35he'd lose a tenth or two
22:37and not be able to
22:37attack on the last
22:38and the last corner had
22:40very narrow dry line so
22:42if I stuck to that he
22:43would have to do something
22:44on the wet which is
22:45almost impossible so that
22:47was my strategy and
22:48that's how it played
22:48out and I'm really
22:50pleased for Dow Racing
22:52Team, obviously
22:53Semi and Clarissa put
22:54so much into this and
22:55you know they're
22:56desperate to get good
22:57results and now we've
22:58got a number one for
22:59them so I'm really
23:00pleased.
23:01Josh it was a fantastic
23:02overtake, it was a
23:02fantastic race, an
23:04inspired performance and
23:05inspired toy choice, best
23:06of luck for the races
23:07tomorrow.
23:07Yeah thank you very much,
23:08cheers guys.
23:10So Josh Brooks the bad
23:11boy back on top and a
23:13masterful ride from Kyle
23:14to extend his lead at the
23:16top of the championship
23:17to 43 points with two
23:19races still to come here
23:20at Alton Park.
