00:00:00You know, sometimes I think I've been a pirate in a previous life or something
00:00:06because this white rum with a little bit of citrus, that just tastes so good.
00:00:15But I guess you guys aren't here today to listen to me rant about wine or liquor
00:00:24or all the other usual stuff someone in here usually does.
00:00:30I guess you're all here to listen to me rave about roses today.
00:00:36And today is a special day.
00:00:38It is the day I'll be presenting the longest list we have had yet on the channel.
00:00:45It will be my top 65 and it will be multi-brand, all types of roses really.
00:00:53And this list has taken me forever to create.
00:00:57It has taken me like two months nearly and it is a list that has been moved about multiple
00:01:06times and I have asked AI, I have asked multiple people how they think about the placement and
00:01:14um, um, um, I'll try to refine it as much as possible.
00:01:20Is this perfect?
00:01:21No, it is not perfect.
00:01:23But I'm pretty confident that most roses on here, um, will do well and that will be a pleasant
00:01:32experience for most people who try to grow them.
00:01:35Um, uh, so without further delay, let's get started here and, uh, let's actually think we'll
00:01:43start from the top 10.
00:01:44Shouldn't we start with number one?
00:01:46Like I know you, some of you guys are a bit, um, hurried on time.
00:01:50You might not have time to listen to all 65.
00:01:53So why not start from number one and, uh, we'll move down the list, um, to save you all some
00:01:59time.
00:02:00Uh, so the first one, uh, is probably no surprise if you've fought this channel for a while.
00:02:06It is the princess Charlene de Monaco, uh, T Rose, so hybrid T Rose.
00:02:13This is, um, my highest ranked rose yet for a reason.
00:02:18It is, uh, very, very healthy, very, very fragrant, beautiful color change, very frilled petals.
00:02:27Honestly, if you haven't gotten this rose yet, um, really go get it.
00:02:31It is not as proliferous, um, on year one as it is on year two.
00:02:37On year two, you will get like three times the blooms of, uh, year one, but it will give
00:02:43you that amazing, um, color and it will give you that amazing fragrance from year one.
00:02:50Um, um, simply an amazing rose.
00:02:53Um, if you haven't bought it, uh, really go get that Milan rose.
00:02:58It is really, in my opinion, um, the best rose Milan has made, uh, in a long, long time.
00:03:06And, uh, what is the next one?
00:03:09Well, this will probably be no surprise either.
00:03:13It is the Chateau de Cheminier rose.
00:03:18Um, this is one of those roses that has just kept growing on me.
00:03:23And, uh, there's two reasons for that.
00:03:26One is that it has one of the most unique scents you'll find in a rose.
00:03:31Um, myself describes it as a lily of the valley, or I've heard people describe it like jasmine
00:03:38or like, um, orange flower, a lot of, uh, different names on it.
00:03:43But what it is, it's a really intoxicating, um, uh, flower scent really.
00:03:52And, uh, for me, it is just like, um, uh, spring flowers or jasmine, or I guess also.
00:03:58Um, but, um, this one just blooms constantly, uh, it is so healthy.
00:04:05The only mistake you can make is cut it too short.
00:04:07It tends to want to get to about one meter before it turns really floriferous.
00:04:12Um, but it can bloom constantly if you just allow it to, um, to grow a little bit in, uh,
00:04:18height.
00:04:19And, uh, it is very, very healthy.
00:04:22Um, mine still has green leaves, and we're nearly in, uh, December.
00:04:27And it is one round green bush, and it is still trying to bloom out there.
00:04:33And, uh, just a few weeks ago, it had an amazing flush of blooms.
00:04:38Um, it is not the, um, strongest on fragrance.
00:04:41It is between seven and a half when it just starts out, going up to an eight as it gets
00:04:45older.
00:04:47Um, out of ten.
00:04:48But, um, that scent, that spring flower scent, that is so unique.
00:04:53I only know of, uh, very few roses that carry that scent.
00:04:58Uh, so that was Chateau Charnier.
00:05:00A wonderful rose, I think, is, uh, very overlooked.
00:05:04And, in my opinion, one of the best Dilbarth roses.
00:05:07And what is the next one?
00:05:10The next one is number three, and it is Mom in a Million.
00:05:14Uh, this is a Danish rose, bred by, uh, Polsom.
00:05:17Uh, the reason it is on this list is, uh, really because it has one of the strongest
00:05:23Damask fragrances you will ever find in a rose.
00:05:26It is stronger than many of the very strong historic roses on Damask.
00:05:32And, in my opinion, it is also, uh, stronger than something like, uh, Gertrude Jekyll.
00:05:38Uh, very healthy rose.
00:05:40Can get a bit tall, but, um, really nothing to complain about here.
00:05:44Uh, an amazing, uh, fragrant rose.
00:05:48And, um, it is also known as, uh, Gita Renaissance.
00:05:51And, uh, is part of Paulson's, uh, Renaissance collection.
00:05:56And what is the next one?
00:05:57The next one is, um, an Austin.
00:06:00And it is number four.
00:06:01And it is the Lady Gardener.
00:06:03Uh, the Lady Gardener is a wonderful mix of, um, uh, scent.
00:06:08But, uh, what I really like about it is it is really healthy.
00:06:12It is very nice bush with these very attractive apricot, uh, double blooms.
00:06:18And, um, spoiler alert.
00:06:22It has one of the best vanilla fragrances I've ever met in a rose.
00:06:26It tends to hit the front of the nose with vanilla.
00:06:29And then you get a bit of tea.
00:06:31And then you get a bit of myrrh and ammonia scent at the back end.
00:06:35Very, very floriferous rose also.
00:06:38And, um, absolutely one of my favorite Austen's.
00:06:42And what is the next one?
00:06:44The next one is, uh, number five.
00:06:46And, um, it is a Tenta rose.
00:06:50And it is a Pacific blue rose.
00:06:53Let's just go down here.
00:06:55Now, Pacific blue is one of those, uh, lavender or light violet colors.
00:07:01Sometimes a little bit gray in it.
00:07:03Um, but it has a wonderful, uh, the mask with a little fruit in it, uh, on fragrance.
00:07:10It is honestly the best, uh, lavender called rose you can get in my opinion.
00:07:16Uh, Tenta has spent forever creating this rose.
00:07:18They first created some of the, um, uh, what were called, uh, twice in a blue moon.
00:07:24And a lot of the others, um, uh, before this.
00:07:26And they really tried to, uh, perfect, uh, the lavender color rose, roses they had.
00:07:33And a lot of other breathers simply, uh, took a lot of, uh, the old Tentaos and, uh, tried to
00:07:39breathe for this color.
00:07:41But I think Tentao, after a long time, really perfected it, uh, this little lavender color.
00:07:47And, uh, I really think that the rose that highlights this both with amazing health and
00:07:52amazing fragrance is, uh, Pacific blue.
00:07:55Uh, Pacific blue is a wonderful rose to have in your garden, especially if you're after that color.
00:08:02Uh, I've tried growing most of the others.
00:08:04And, uh, this one is just so fragrant and, uh, so reliable and so easy to grow in my opinion.
00:08:11And, uh, what is the next one?
00:08:13The next one is probably the most controversial in this list.
00:08:17And, um, it is probably the only rose on the top 10.
00:08:22I have allowed myself to add a little bit of my own, um, touch to the top 10 list.
00:08:29But, um, it is, uh, Bosco Bell.
00:08:34Now, Bosco Bell is one of those perfect imperfect roses.
00:08:41It does want to get a little bit of, um, black spot on the low leaves,
00:08:45but it has this wonderful tropical myrrh scent to it.
00:08:50And when you see the color change of it, this coral red that kind of fades into these wonderful,
00:08:56uh, nuances of, uh, pink and a lot of other colors going on.
00:09:01And you see this, uh, very, very round, uh, shape it has.
00:09:06And I think most people will be sold because that is a wonderful rose.
00:09:12And I think when you grow this one,
00:09:16you really learn to appreciate it as much as, uh, I have through the years.
00:09:21It is not a perfect, um, rose by any means, but, um, it is certainly a rose.
00:09:26I always, uh, gravitate towards in the garden, uh, when it is in bloom.
00:09:31And, uh, with well over 400 roses, I have many, many fragrant roses to choose from.
00:09:38But this is one of those I always, uh, um, gravitate towards.
00:09:42Because I find it has a special kind of storytelling to it, really, the way it opens.
00:09:48It is a bit, uh, dramatic, I think.
00:09:50Um, but I really love that rose.
00:09:53Uh, one of, uh, my favorite Austen's for sure.
00:09:57And what is the next?
00:09:59The next is a really reliable Austen.
00:10:02And it is the rose he said himself was the best rose he operated.
00:10:06And it is, of course, uh, Olivia Austen.
00:10:10Now Olivia Austen is on this rose, a rose list.
00:10:14Because it is one of the most proliferous, healthy roses I know.
00:10:19And this one simply keeps going.
00:10:21It keeps putting out bloom after bloom after bloom.
00:10:25And no diseases really seem to bite on it.
00:10:29Um, it is just an amazing, reliable rose.
00:10:32And with that old fashioned look, I really love and enjoy.
00:10:38This is, uh, one of those roses.
00:10:41If you are a beginner and you want to start out growing roses,
00:10:44I think this is a fantastic, um, beginner rose.
00:10:48Because it will really make you into a professional Rosarian,
00:10:52uh, without needing much of the skill set or the experience.
00:10:57This is an incredible easy rose to grow.
00:11:00That is very rewarding.
00:11:01It is not the most fragrant.
00:11:03Um, when it's young, it has nearly no fragrance.
00:11:06As it gets older, it can get a slight fragrance.
00:11:09It's only like a four to a five out of ten.
00:11:12Um, but, um, very decent rose this one.
00:11:16And, uh, you can't do much better if you're just looking for health and, uh,
00:11:21re-flowering than Olivia Austen.
00:11:23And that is why she's placed very high up on the list.
00:11:28It is simply because she is so reliable.
00:11:31And, uh, I think the fact that Austen himself, um, consider it his best rose,
00:11:37um, also speaks, uh, kindly to that.
00:11:41And, uh, what is the next one?
00:11:43The next one is, uh, Shanda's Beauty.
00:11:47Um, my mom was a gardener for well over 20 years.
00:11:52And this was always a favorite rose.
00:11:54And, uh, for a long time, I didn't really believe, um, that it was so special.
00:12:00Like, um, but, uh, I got one myself.
00:12:03And, uh, within a few months, I was completely sold.
00:12:07It was one of my, um, most favorite roses.
00:12:11And it is really that, uh, it gets these very, very big sea hybrid blooms, this beautiful,
00:12:19beautiful color to it, uh, that nearly glows just before, uh, evening and, uh, darkness sells in.
00:12:26And you get this wonderful, wonderful, um, kind of like, um, you know, in a seashell,
00:12:34when you see the inside of a seashell and you see all these colors.
00:12:38Um, it is just an amazing rose, kind of like, um, Princess Celine de Monaco.
00:12:44And, uh, the fragrance is also really good on this one.
00:12:48It has, uh, eight and a half out of 10, the mass fruit, uh, mix.
00:12:52Um, if it doesn't give you the, the strong fragrance, it gives you like a seven.
00:12:58Try, uh, cutting off a rose and, uh, placing it inside in a waste for like a half day to
00:13:03a day.
00:13:04And I'm pretty confident that you'll be met with, uh, a very strong, uh, rose fragrance for sure.
00:13:12And what is the next one here? Let's see.
00:13:16It is, um, Mildred's Shield, of course. How could I forget about Mildred's Shield?
00:13:24Mildred's Shield.
00:13:27Mildred's Shield is also known as Deep Secret.
00:13:31The reason this rose is on the list is because it is one of the most, uh, floriferous red roses
00:13:38I
00:13:38know that has a very, very powerful scent and is very reliable. And it does have a little bit of
00:13:44downsides. It tends to get forms. It tends to get a bit high and hot tall, but it is an
00:13:52amazing rose.
00:13:52It is one of the best roses you can get even, uh, though it was made all the way back
00:13:58in the 70s.
00:13:59It is like an eight and a half on, uh, scent. It's very lovely, the Mascalca, uh, scent. And, um,
00:14:06it will do a lot better in your garden if you're growing in a moderate zone than something like, um,
00:14:13Mr. Lincoln or something like Palomelan. This one will be very, very, uh, reliable.
00:14:20And, um, it is also a decent cut flower as long as you can, um, uh, stand removing some thorns
00:14:26from it.
00:14:27Um, but yeah, I even think this is, uh, my own video down here of it, but I'm not going
00:14:33to, uh,
00:14:35click in on it. But, uh, you guys can go, uh, see why I think this rose is so special.
00:14:40A wonderful rose for sure. And the next one is, uh, another Milan. It is, uh, the Eden Rose.
00:14:49And the Eden Rose, what a unique rose. You have this, uh, very special look about it,
00:14:55where it has this, um, kind of like a lime, um, color at the edges, this green lime color at
00:15:02the edges.
00:15:02And you get the pink and, uh, it is just a wonderful, wonderful, uh, rose to look at.
00:15:09It is one of the most healthy climbers you can get and one of the most, uh, floriferous climbers.
00:15:16That said, it is a bit of a long-term investment because, um, it takes a long time to really
00:15:22get
00:15:22going. It has a lot of, uh, woody growth and that woody growth and, uh, the fact it wants to
00:15:29turn into
00:15:29like a mini tree before it turns really for rivers. It can take like a couple of years. So don't
00:15:35give up
00:15:35hope if, um, yours is not extremely for rivers from day one. Um, this is a long-term investment,
00:15:42but it will be one of the most amazing climbers you can imagine in your garden, uh, when it gets
00:15:50a
00:15:50bit of age on it. It is also known as, uh, Pierre de Ronsard, um, and, uh, yeah, totally amazing
00:15:58rose.
00:15:59Not a lot of fragrance on it. It does have like a 4 out of 10 tea fragrance, but, uh,
00:16:04a really good,
00:16:04good rose nonetheless. And what is the next one? The next one is, uh, Velvet Fragrance. Velvet Fragrance.
00:16:14If you follow the channel, you know, uh, Velvet Fragrance is a rose I talk about a lot.
00:16:21And the reason for that? Well, it is the most scented rose I've ever put my nose to.
00:16:28It is, um, uh, simply a freak of nature, as I often say, because I have never encountered a rose
00:16:35that fragrant. And, um, I have grown fragrant roses for well over a decade and I have, uh,
00:16:42like 400 of them. But, um, this one, this one is something special.
00:16:49I also do like the way it kind of like a frills the edges sometimes on the blooms. It is
00:16:55not all
00:16:55the blooms that do it, but it does give it a very unique look when it does that. Um, but
00:17:02yeah,
00:17:02how to sum up Velo Fragrance. It is very simple. It is the most scented rose in my garden. That's
00:17:12why
00:17:12it belongs on this list. It is like a Galica. It meets, uh, Damask. It meets a bit of citrus.
00:17:20It meets a bit of fruit. Honestly, this one is, um, incredibly scented and, uh, I can't stress that
00:17:27enough. A very, very scented rose, that one. And what is the next one? The next one is a white
00:17:35one.
00:17:35It is the, um, Annapurna rose. And right now we are at the number 12. So Annapurna rose is our
00:17:45number 12
00:17:45rose. Now, how to describe this one? If you like citrus, if you like lots of beautiful white blooms,
00:17:55that just looks picture perfect. If you want a very good leaf health and you live in a moderate climate,
00:18:05this Doru rose is simply amazing. Uh, it is one of my favorite white roses. And I have no shortage
00:18:13of
00:18:14the best, uh, fragrant white roses in the world to choose from. And, uh, some of the others are also
00:18:19on this list. Um, but I really liked, um, the shape and the reliability of this one. And that is
00:18:26sometimes what it comes down to, uh, in this list is, uh, what rose can I depend the most on
00:18:32to give
00:18:33me those fragrant blooms? And what is the next one here? Oh, that is a real favorite. Um, a real
00:18:41favorite
00:18:41of mine. It is red perfume de Pourenx. Uh, red perfume de Pourenx. Amazing looking double flowers. You can
00:18:51even see my own video here, um, of red perfume de Pourenx. Um, amazing double flowers, amazing, uh,
00:18:58raspberry fragrance. It honestly has the most, uh, potent lovely raspberry fragrance I have encountered so
00:19:05far. Um, I also like the raspberry fragrance of Terry Marks and, um, uh, to some extent, uh, Fruity Parfuma,
00:19:14but I think Fruity Parfuma has a little bit of alcohol at the back end. And Terry Marks is not
00:19:20that
00:19:20strong, but it is very elegant in the raspberry fragrance. But this one is, um, simply amazing.
00:19:28It, uh, it is very dependable, uh, very fragrant, and I've had no issues, uh, growing it. And the
00:19:36blooms are, in my opinion, uh, maybe even more gorgeous in real life, even though I think, uh,
00:19:44the picture I took here kind of, uh, tells a good story about it. Uh, so yeah, what is the
00:19:51next one
00:19:52we have going here? It is, uh, a poet's, poet's wife. A little bit of poetry, I guess. It is
00:20:02poetry
00:20:03for certain, if you know the fragrance of it. A very strong 9 out of 10, uh, citrus and tabasque
00:20:09fragrance. Lovely big yellow blooms. It does tend to twirl a little bit around itself. Um,
00:20:16Austin also called it Auswell. Um, but this is an amazing, uh, rose, and you can also turn it really
00:20:24floriferous if you know what you're doing. Um, I tried growing it in, um, on the southern side of
00:20:31the terrace in a pot, but I found out that, um, the tree of them, I have a tree of
00:20:37the poet's wife.
00:20:38Uh, I hope that is a stamp of approval. I actually have, uh, a tree of a lot of these
00:20:43roses you have just
00:20:44heard up until now. And, uh, there are some I grow all the time in my old garden. Uh, but
00:20:50this one,
00:20:50uh, if you place it into half shade, uh, where maybe on the tree or something where I get some
00:20:55sun
00:20:55and then a little bit of shade and a little bit of moisture, um, it will do really, really well,
00:21:01uh, for you. Uh, it will start doing massive flushes and, uh, you can turn this one really,
00:21:09really floriferous, too, if you know what you're doing. And, uh, just those very big,
00:21:15potent blooms with that fragrance in a yellow rose. Yellow roses are usually not that fragrant.
00:21:21Um, honestly, that is what seals the deal for me. A very good rose, this one, and one of, uh,
00:21:27Austin's, uh, better roses for sure. Next up, we have a German rose. We have, um,
00:21:34Kiss Me Kate. Uh, Kiss Me Kate Rose. This one is a very, very healthy, um, uh, citrus fragrant climber.
00:21:45Very, very potent citrus fragrance on it, like eight and a half out of ten. Um, it is what I
00:21:51often
00:21:51grow instead of Getrid Jekyll because Getrid Jekyll can suffer a lot on leaf health due to black spot.
00:21:59But this one is, um, absolutely, uh, flawless on, uh, leaf health. Uh, so I really enjoy this one.
00:22:07It is one of the few very good fragrant climbers, um, that are out there. And because of that,
00:22:14um, it is on this list. Uh, and let's see, where are we now? We're at number 16 and I
00:22:22got another, uh,
00:22:24fragrant climber coming up and it is, uh, Walton Old Hall.
00:22:30Now, Walton Old Hall is, uh, quite an amazing, uh, myrrh fragrant climber. And if you don't know
00:22:37what myrrh means, it essentially means, uh, aniseed and licorice. Uh, so if you're one of those that, uh,
00:22:44gets a little bit hungry when you see licorice or a little bit peckish, well, I guess this one is,
00:22:50uh,
00:22:50for you because this one is, uh, scented very much like licorice, like aniseed. And, um,
00:22:59I like that nostalgic look of it. The way these, uh, cream white, uh, flowers, uh, look so double
00:23:08cupped. I just think it's such a romantic looking rose. Um, it always makes me happy when I see it.
00:23:14It is one of those kind of like Bosco Bell. I'm always going over in the corner to, uh, really
00:23:19have a close, uh, look at, uh, a close with at, uh, kind of like Princess Celene de Monaco and,
00:23:26uh,
00:23:26Shattered to see in here and Poets Wife and Love Falls on this list. Um, I simply always, um, go
00:23:34over
00:23:34to them when I see them in bloom and, uh, they will always be in my garden. There's no doubt
00:23:38about that.
00:23:40And what is the next one? The next one is, uh, one of my favorites also. It is a German
00:23:46rose. It
00:23:46is the Goody Rose, also known as, uh, Pure Poetry. This one can get absolutely massive blooms like, um,
00:23:5612 to 14 centimeters across. It has a fragrance that can vary a little bit. Sometimes it gives a bit
00:24:02of
00:24:02myrrh mixed with a bit of raspberry. Sometimes it is myrrh and tea. Other times it can go completely
00:24:08bananas and, um, uh, turn into a citrus fragrant rose. It is not that stable on what fragrance
00:24:16it gives you, but it is always very, very, um, potent on the fragrance. Uh, so a very good rose,
00:24:24uh, for sure. And it is also very healthy. But when you see those very, very big blooms it can
00:24:31produce,
00:24:32and it is some of the biggest blooms you will ever see in a rose, um, I think you will
00:24:37be sold
00:24:37on this one because unique color, very big blooms, very healthy, and, uh, a very good fragrance also.
00:24:46Um, honestly, it got the whole package, including, uh, uh, some weird habits also,
00:24:54because first it will flower like a tea hybrid, and then it kind of turns into a grandiflora. And,
00:25:00um, I guess, in my opinion, it is still an amazing rose. It is one of the best purple roses,
00:25:07uh,
00:25:08along with another one that is also on this list a little further down. And what is the next one?
00:25:14It is, um, Princess Alexandra Renaissance. I don't know if I can... such a name, long name,
00:25:25like, uh, Paulson needs a shorter name. Um, but this one, one of the most, uh, delicious, uh,
00:25:34citrus fragrances you can get. It is actually my favorite, um, uh, citrus fragrance. Um,
00:25:40I think Delish is number two for me. Um, but such a unique rose, and I really like the way
00:25:47it opens
00:25:48the center. And, uh, you can see these yellow, um, um, kind of stamens, uh, at the center of it,
00:25:57where the pollen is. Uh, it is such a wonderful rose, and sometimes it can turn completely purple.
00:26:04And, uh, it is so striking, so striking, so unique. Um, it is descended from another rose called, uh,
00:26:11Margaret Merle. Um, but this one, uh, just takes that citrus fragrance, um, to a whole nother level,
00:26:18in my opinion. And, uh, now we're at, uh, number 11. Oh, sorry, number 19 here. Number 19.
00:26:28And, uh, it is the one I just talked about. It is, uh, Margaret Merle. I thought these two roses
00:26:34should follow each other because they're very similar. And, uh, Margaret Merle. And here you can
00:26:39really see those exposed, uh, yellow centers. And Margaret Merle was the parent plant to the other.
00:26:46Again, a very, very good white rose, this one. And it also has a delicious eight and a half citrus
00:26:53fragrance. Well, we'll put the other one at around nine out of 10, uh, citrus fragrance.
00:26:58One of my favorite, um, white roses also. I have, um, three of this one in the garden right next
00:27:06to
00:27:06Annapurna. And, uh, they can honestly, um, be scented so good. Like that citrus fragrance,
00:27:13they, it's just very potent. And, uh, what is the next one? The next one is a very reliable bloomer.
00:27:21And, um, it is Joy De Veve, also known as a cream veranda, also known as garden of roses, and,
00:27:30uh,
00:27:30uh, probably a lot of other names I've forgotten about. Um, but, um, this one is, um, a favorite of
00:27:39mine because it produces these very perfect blooms. And it just keeps constantly flowering.
00:27:45Kind of like Olivia Austin, just constantly flowering, putting out flowers, being very healthy.
00:27:51And the flowers have this kind of special glow to them also. That's just the gorgeous to look at.
00:27:58And I, I always stub up one that one is in flower because it is kind of like Shanda's Beauty
00:28:04and
00:28:04Princess Chalene de Monaco. There's just so many colors going on in the most subtle ways. And you just
00:28:11want to look at it, uh, the way the light catches it, a wonderful rose. I have really grown to
00:28:17enjoy
00:28:18that one. Uh, I, I didn't think I would enjoy it when I, I got it. I had just expected
00:28:23a normal pink
00:28:25rose, but, um, oh boy, oh boy, was I wrong on that one. I'll openly admit that. And, uh, what
00:28:33is the next
00:28:34one? The next one is another Austin. It is, uh, Eustacia Y. And, uh, Eustacia Y is, uh, one of
00:28:43those,
00:28:44um, more blushing apricot-centered pinks, um, that Austin has. But the reason it is on this list is,
00:28:52uh, it has very good health and very good fragrance also. The fragrance is right around an age to an
00:28:59eight and a half, uh, kind of a fruity. Um, the mask makes as far as I remember, but, um,
00:29:07very good,
00:29:08healthy rose, very fragrant also, uh, one of the better Austen's for sure. And, uh, uh, yeah. Um,
00:29:18the only thing it likes is a little special, uh, something. And I also find the height is sometimes
00:29:24a little bit too vertical. Um, but that is why it is, uh, at the middle of the list, not
00:29:30at, uh,
00:29:31first part of the list, I guess. And, uh, what is the next one? The next one is, uh,
00:29:37one of my new favorites. It is the Collette rose, uh, Collette climbing rose.
00:29:44This one is kind of like Eden for me. Just keeps putting out bloom after bloom while being exceptionally
00:29:51healthy and it can just keep going. And the blooms are very unique in color. Very, very pretty.
00:29:59Um, it is one of those, you don't know how much you're going to like before you have it in
00:30:04your own
00:30:04garden. Uh, now I enjoy the view. Like, uh, I didn't know how much I liked that before I had
00:30:10it.
00:30:10Um, but when you see these, uh, different colors and you just constantly having it in bloom in your garden,
00:30:18uh, uh, you really enjoy that one, even though the flowers and pictures can look kind of small,
00:30:23honestly, my recommendation is just try to get one because, um, I think you'll like it in no time.
00:30:31Really with Collette, I enjoy the view of my recommendation is try getting it yourself because,
00:30:36uh, the pictures, uh, in my experience, don't do them justice. And, uh, what is the next one?
00:30:44The next one is, uh, Terry Marks. And, uh, I briefly touched about this when I was, uh,
00:30:50um, talking about, uh, Red Perfume de Provence. This one has one of the most accurate, elegant
00:30:57raspberry fragrances. While Red Perfume de Provence has the strongest, this one has the most elegant
00:31:03and really delicious, uh, raspberry fragrance because it hits that raspberry fragrance very,
00:31:10very accurately. When you think about a raspberry fragrance, you have to remember
00:31:14raspberry fragrances aren't naturally that, um, potent, a very light, very aromatic, uh,
00:31:21fragrances. And this one hits the intensity and, uh, um, delicious nature of a raspberry,
00:31:29just, uh, right. In my opinion, that was the fact that it has that unique color, a really,
00:31:35really unique color you don't find in a lot of roses. It does come with a drawback. Um,
00:31:41the flowers don't stand up that well to rain. They can get a bit of water damage, uh, at the
00:31:45edges if
00:31:46you leave it out. Um, kind of like a raspberry cupcake. But I've actually come to prefer this
00:31:52one over raspberry cupcake because, uh, I find even though both of them get rain damage at the blooms
00:31:59and both of them are really floriferous also. Um, I find this one is a bit more
00:32:05healthy in my garden on the leaf health. I find raspberry cupcake can sometimes more defoliate
00:32:11towards, um, the later part of the season, while this one tends to keep the leaves on a little bit
00:32:18better. Um, but, um, unique color. And I also think I like the dramatic colors of this one a little
00:32:25bit
00:32:25better than a raspberry cupcake. Um, a wonderful Del Bartros, this one. And what is the next one?
00:32:33The next one is, uh, Laudatio, also known as, um, Timeless Purple. This one is, uh, one of the only
00:32:41competitors to, um, good or, uh, what is it called? Um, uh, pure poetry. Uh, Timeless Purple, uh, here,
00:32:51or Laudatio, has a very potent ANSI fragrance when it just opens. A very, very stunning, uh, purple color.
00:32:59And, um, as it opens, the fragrance turns kind of floral, like the ANSI steps in it towards the
00:33:06background and you get this floral fragrance on it. Um, a really, really good purple rose
00:33:11for those of you that like the, the myrrh fragrance, the ANSI licorice fragrance. Um,
00:33:18so yeah, um, it does need a bit of sun, this one, but, uh, an absolutely good purple rose.
00:33:25And what else do we have on our list? Uh, we are now at number 25. And the next one
00:33:33is, uh, Summer Romance.
00:33:37Let's see here, Summer Romance. And Summer Romance number 25. This one is, uh, such a gorgeous,
00:33:47large, uh, bush when you grow it in the garden. And what I really like about it is it has
00:33:53that, uh,
00:33:54old historic look to it and, uh, it has that potent damask fragrance also. So it is a really good
00:34:02rose if
00:34:02you want a large, uh, bush in your garden with, uh, a very good damask fragrance also. And, um,
00:34:10the leaf health is not bad on this one. It is really not. The only downside of course is, uh,
00:34:16it is a little bit greedy with how much, uh, space it wants in your garden. Uh, so be sure
00:34:22to remember
00:34:23to plant this one as a large, um, uh, shrub. Um, but it is honestly one of the best in
00:34:30the, um,
00:34:31Cordes perfumer series. Uh, Summer Romance. And what else do we have? Oh yeah, we have the delish rose.
00:34:41The delish rose. That one is, uh, very delish, I guess. It has a very good citrus fragrance. In my
00:34:50opinion,
00:34:50uh, second best citrus fragrance between, um, uh, princess Alexander Renaissance. But it can
00:34:58sometimes be a little bit of a competition between the two, how healthy they both are. Um, but
00:35:04in my mind, there's no doubt that, uh, delish and princess Alexander Renaissance, um, are the two,
00:35:11uh, competitors, just like Goethe and Lodejo was, um, when it comes to their respective area.
00:35:19The reason I tend to like Princess Alexander Renaissance a little bit more, it's just,
00:35:23it's not just a stronger fragrance. It is the fact that, um, delish can get quite tall and the flowers
00:35:30can also sometimes droop a little bit. Um, but all in all, it is an amazing rose and, uh, totally
00:35:38worth
00:35:38getting. Um, I believe this one is also called, uh, uh, Sweet Perfume de Provence. It is for sure in
00:35:45the
00:35:45Provence series. Um, but, um, let's continue here. The next one is a whiter shade of pale.
00:35:55And, uh, I always knew I wanted to put this one, uh, somewhere around Eustacia Y,
00:36:00and because the growth habit and the health and a lot of other things kind of remind me a little
00:36:07bit of Eustacia Y. Um, this one is just like a pink version nearly of Eustacia Y.
00:36:13But I guess this one, uh, was, uh, first on the market. So, but all in all, a really amazing,
00:36:20um, rose this one. A whiter shade of pale. Very powerfully fragrant. Um, it is a citrus
00:36:28fragrant rose for sure. Uh, this one also, but there's also a bit of fruit and a bit of damask
00:36:34in it.
00:36:34Um, it is a very good, um, a strong pick, I believe here for the middle of the list. And
00:36:43the next one is, uh,
00:36:44we see as rose. It is the Caminia rose. Caminia. Let's see here. Caminia.
00:36:52Yeah. Caminia is a very, very potent, uh, fragrant damask rose. It's such a little cute, um,
00:37:01rose. It doesn't get that tall and, uh, the fragrance on it is just gorgeous. So if you can
00:37:07imagine something like a little, uh, summer romance, just, just even more fragrant with these cute,
00:37:14uh, pink blooms, uh, then you can imagine Caminia. It is simply an amazing rose in my opinion.
00:37:22And, uh, what else do we have here?
00:37:26Uh, we have, uh, Claire Renaissance, uh, Claire Renaissance Rose. Um,
00:37:34this one is, uh, one of the most healthy roses, uh, Parsonary Bread and one of the most beautiful.
00:37:40It has a seven and a half, uh, damask fragrance. And, uh, a lot of breathers have been using this
00:37:46one to
00:37:47breed their own roses and cross, uh, um, with all the roses. I know Dilbarth and Wazir has made a
00:37:54lot
00:37:55of roses that have, uh, had Claire, um, Renaissance as the parent for the health alone.
00:38:02And, um, it is such a stellar and really good rose. Uh, those of you that like, uh, something like
00:38:10Shander's Beauty, uh, would probably really like this one too. Uh, a really good, um, uh, pink rose,
00:38:17in my opinion. And, uh, certainly one of the best of the whole Renaissance collection by, um, by Paulson.
00:38:26And next up we have, uh, Chartreuse de Palme. That's the mouthful, right?
00:38:33Well, I've gotten used to saying it now.
00:38:37This one is hard to describe on scent because there's so many different kinds of scent stuck in this.
00:38:43You have some hyacinth, you have some fruit, you have some citrus.
00:38:49This one has won so many gold medals on fragrance and, uh, it is one of the hardest roses for
00:38:56me still,
00:38:57uh, to describe on fragrance simply because it is so layered on the fragrance.
00:39:02Um, it tends to bloom decently well. I'll say it is somewhere in the middle and on health it is
00:39:10also in
00:39:10the middle. Um, but really that fragrance is something, um, really special on this rose.
00:39:18And, uh, it is not a bad looking rose, uh, either. But, uh, what really, uh, makes me put it
00:39:25on this
00:39:25list is the fragrance. It has simply won so many gold medals and it has one of the most beautiful
00:39:32fragrances you can get in a rose. Kind of like delish, really. Um, so, but yeah, let's continue.
00:39:39And, um, now we are at number 31. And the next one is, uh, Perfume Dreams.
00:39:49Uh, Perfume Dreams rose. It is this one by, um,
00:39:54uh, Viseers. It is a very, very potently, uh, spring flower, uh, scented rose. Um,
00:40:02it is kind of like, uh, Chateau du Chivonier, uh, same fragrance as Chateau du Chivonier. Uh,
00:40:08so if you buy Chateau du Chivonier or Belle du Jour, it is also called, um, and you love that
00:40:14fragrance,
00:40:15I think you really, really want to get this, uh, climber from Viseers because it is the same fragrance
00:40:21and, uh, an amazing climber also. And, uh, of course, the unique, uh,
00:40:27spring flower fragrance is, uh, what place is it on this list, but it is also incredibly beautiful.
00:40:33And, uh, the flowers do actually handle, uh, rain very well. And, uh, what is the next one?
00:40:41The next one is number 32 and, uh, it is Grafen von Hardenberg. And if you don't want to call
00:40:48it
00:40:48Grafen von Hardenberg, you can call it Black Caviar. I actually should start calling it that
00:40:53because it is easier to write, but, uh, well, old habits die hard, I guess.
00:40:59Um, this one is, uh, one of those really good roses for those of you that, uh, can't get enough
00:41:05for something like Munstered Wood. Um, a really, really beautiful dark red rose. And it has a very,
00:41:13very beautiful, uh, mix of, uh, Damaskin Gallica fragrance in it. Uh, about an eight and a half.
00:41:21It is also very healthy and, uh, much more reliable than, uh, something like Munstered Wood.
00:41:27Uh, so I think you guys can see why I say it can be a good alternative to Munstered Wood.
00:41:32It is a little bit, uh, smaller in the flowers, but, um, than Munstered Wood. Not as big, but still,
00:41:38uh, very big compared to your ordinary rose, just not as big as Munstered Wood.
00:41:43Um, but it tends to be so much more healthy and, uh, put out many more flowers than Munstered Wood.
00:41:49So, in my opinion, this is like, uh, reliable Munstered Wood, um,
00:41:55without taking anything away from, um, Munstered Wood, because they don't look the same, but,
00:42:02there's enough similarities to, um, I think the people that want Munstered Wood, uh, will really
00:42:07appreciate this one too. And, uh, what's the next one? It is a very hard one to get. It is
00:42:15Lady Emma
00:42:16Hamilton. And, uh, so many people want this rose and, um, sadly out of production these days, but what I
00:42:25really like about it is the special amber color and the special color change. Also, the, um, more
00:42:31copper bronze, uh, leaf it makes. And it also has a very decent fragrance. Uh, some say tea, some say
00:42:39lychee. Um, honestly, I think it is a kind of a mix between tea and lychee, but, um, a very
00:42:47beautiful,
00:42:47good rose, this one. Um, I really like this one a lot. And I was lucky enough, uh, a few
00:42:54years back to,
00:42:55uh, find a specimen, uh, of it, uh, grown by an old couple, uh, some old, uh, rose car, uh,
00:43:04gardeners,
00:43:05but if you can't get it, um, don't worry too much. Um, it is a good rose, but again, I
00:43:13haven't placed it in
00:43:13top 10. Um, it does have some issues kind of like, um, it, it can stop blooming when, um, um,
00:43:21it dries out and then refuse to bloom for many weeks after. Uh, so it is one of those, um,
00:43:29I wouldn't
00:43:29say one of those that needs a perfect babying, but it does need a little bit of care, uh, with
00:43:34it not
00:43:35drying out. And, uh, what is the next one? The next one is, uh, Floriana. Oh, Floriana has been an
00:43:43absolutely amazing rose for me this year. Um, it is actually my, uh, most favorite pot rose.
00:43:50The form shape of this one, the 60 centimeters, uh, perfect, uh, flushing out of leaves, and,
00:43:57um, this very, very potent, around eight and a half, uh, citrus fragrance, and that unique, uh,
00:44:04apricot center with, uh, beautiful, beautiful, um, cream edges. Such an amazing rose, such an amazing
00:44:14rose. Um, it does tend to get a bit more apricot, um, towards, um, the winter or when the sun
00:44:23goes away.
00:44:24Um, it turns more colorful, the less sun it gets. Um, but an absolutely stellar, uh, pot rose,
00:44:34it'll do amazing, and one of the best fragrant roses, uh, to place in a pot, in my opinion.
00:44:41And absolutely amazing with Sears rose, this one. And, uh, what is the next one?
00:44:48We add 35, and the next one is a raspberry cupcake. Raspberry cupcake. This one most of you know,
00:44:58and, um, it is an absolutely stellar rose. It has that mix between, uh, citrus and geranium, uh,
00:45:06this kind of spicy citrus. I really love it. It is, uh, one of my favorites. If it wasn't because
00:45:14of
00:45:14the fact that it defoliates a little bit more than, um, uh, Terry Marks, um, this would, uh, have easily
00:45:23be
00:45:23one of, uh, uh, uh, my most, uh, favorite more math colored roses, but, um, it is still one of
00:45:32my
00:45:32favorites, but, um, I just think Terry Marks is a little bit more my favorite, not by a lot,
00:45:39like 5% or something like that. Um, but they're both really, really solid roses, and, um, I wouldn't
00:45:47want to, uh, throw any of them out of my garden. Um, they're amazing for different reasons, and they
00:45:54also don't have the same fragrance, but I think if I was forced to choose, because the leaf health
00:46:00is a tiny bit better on Terry Marks, and because they both, um, don't really stand up to rain that
00:46:06well, um, I think I would choose Terry Marks. But good news, both raspberry cupcake and Terry Marks
00:46:13are excellent also for cut flowers to take inside. Uh, so, um, often that is what I do. I pick
00:46:21them
00:46:21right before the rain comes and place them inside in a ways, really. And what is the next one? Oh,
00:46:30that is such, um, such a good rose. Peter Paul Rubens.
00:46:36Peter Paul Rubens. If any of you are already growing Bosco Bell, and you love Bosco Bell,
00:46:46trust me when I say this is one of the roses you should, uh, make one of your top priorities
00:46:53to get,
00:46:54because it has the most beautiful fruit and myrrh combination, just like Bosco Bell. And, uh, it has
00:47:01that same unique, uh, kind of look at the blooms when it makes these, um, balls nearly. Um,
00:47:10honestly, if you like Bosco Bell, don't miss miss out on Peter Paul Rubens. Uh, it is every bit as
00:47:17good
00:47:17as, uh, Bosco Bell. And, uh, it is a bit more, um, orange myrrh. I like this a bit more
00:47:25orange in the
00:47:25fruit, uh, in the fragrance, uh, while Bosco Bell is a bit more tropical myrrh. Um, but both of them
00:47:33are honestly really gorgeous roses. If you like that, uh, uh, fruit myrrh fragrance, it has been
00:47:41decently healthy for me, like a medium health, I say, and medium flowering. Um, but that fragrance
00:47:48and that unique look. I really like this rose also. Uh, it is like, uh, getting, uh, Bosco Bell,
00:47:56that's not really Bosco Bell, but that you'll like anyway a lot. And, uh, what is the next one?
00:48:03The next one is, uh, an historic one. I thought we should include some historic roses on this list.
00:48:10And, uh, one of the roses I really wanted to include was, uh, Roasty Rashed. Roasty Rashed is
00:48:16simply one of the best historic roses ever made. And in my opinion, it, uh, is one of the
00:48:24historic roses that belongs even in modern gardens. You have a perfect mix of a Damask and Galka in this
00:48:32rose. Very, very beautiful scent. It is easy to keep compact and it doesn't spread. And, uh, that's
00:48:40really why I believe it is still good for modern gardens where you have a bit more limited space.
00:48:46I will say though, that, um, I find it is best to cut it down a bit because, uh,
00:48:52it can suffer a little bit of, um, black spot if you allow it to, uh, shoot too much, uh,
00:48:59from the old
00:48:59stems, but such an unique look. And what I really like about the look of it is it holds the
00:49:06blooms,
00:49:07so close to these very beautiful, unique leaves. And, um, it just has an amazing, unique look, this one.
00:49:15Um, um, one of my favorite historic roses for sure. And, uh, what is the next one?
00:49:22It was a new one for me this year and it is never ending story.
00:49:27Never ending story actually surprised me very, very positively this year.
00:49:33A very, very gorgeous big blooms with a very, very potent fragrance also like an eight, eight
00:49:39and a half. Um, it is so amazing. Um, I have no words to describe this one. It, uh, was
00:49:47very,
00:49:47very healthy for me also. Uh, no leaf issues, no, no whatsoever. I would say the re-bloom was around
00:49:55medium, but, um, blooms that when you get them was a very, very big. So, um, and it kind of
00:50:01makes
00:50:02sense to me that it's not putting out a lot of blooms all the time because the blooms you get
00:50:06are
00:50:06very, very, uh, um, big in size, like 12 centimeters. Um, I really liked this one, very good fragrance,
00:50:16uh, on it too. Uh, you can go watch the review I did of it if you're more curious, but
00:50:22very good
00:50:23Norag rose, kind of like timeless purple Lodacio and a lot of other Norag roses.
00:50:29Uh, what else do we have? Uh, we have a Serbian rose, RenĂŠ van Rijkberg.
00:50:36And, uh, RenĂŠ van Rijkberg, again, one of those very unique roses because, uh, it has this kind of,
00:50:43like, uh, reddish pink at the center when it just opens and it creates this most gorgeous effect you
00:50:50have seen in a rose. That and, uh, very good for containers and, uh, it actually has a very, uh,
00:50:57decent fragrance, like seven and a half Gallica fragrance, um, out of 10. Very good rose that one
00:51:04and very, very excellent, uh, leaf health. I absolutely think you can get away with growing
00:51:10this one completely organic without spraying, uh, very, very healthy rose. And the leaves are
00:51:16nearly shining, kind of like, uh, Kiss Me Kate can sometimes do. And, uh, what is the next one?
00:51:24The next one is, um, White Perfume de Pervance, also known as, uh, a Chanel rose.
00:51:31Chanel rose, White Perfume de Pervance.
00:51:36Honestly, a very, very gorgeous, uh, fruity perfume on this one. One of the most gorgeous blooms you
00:51:42will ever see in a white rose, uh, beside, uh, Pope John Paul II. Um, no words, it is just
00:51:50like, uh,
00:51:52watching a piece of heaven when this one blooms. Um, it is one of those roses, I say,
00:51:57it will look perfect in a wedding bouquet or something. Uh, really gorgeous rose and, um,
00:52:03absolutely one of the best white roses, um, ever bred if you're in the market for white roses.
00:52:11And sometimes I get a little bit of critique for saying that, uh, I think, um, some other rose
00:52:18breeders make better white roses now than Austin, but just have a look at this. Like, seriously,
00:52:24have a look at this bloom shape. This, um, it is just gorgeous in my opinion. Like, what more could
00:52:30you want in a, a white rose, uh, really? A White Perfume de Pervance. And, uh, what is the next
00:52:38one?
00:52:39Well, very fittingly, I couldn't decide where Pope John Paul fit into the picture, so I placed them next to
00:52:45each other. Pope John Paul. Uh, the second. I hope it catches it here. Yeah. Again, isn't that just like
00:52:57looking at heaven? Such a wonderful rose, too. I don't know which one will be your favorite, um, but, um,
00:53:07I couldn't separate them. I think they're both, uh, really amazing roses and extremely fragrant, both of them.
00:53:13Um, in my opinion, I'm not even going to tell you which one you should get, because I think you
00:53:19should
00:53:19get both of them, um, if you have the opportunity. They are very essential white roses in any, uh,
00:53:28fragrance collection. They're not as hardy or as reliable as something like, uh, Annapurna. Uh,
00:53:35that's why they're a bit further down the list. Um, but they're certainly very, very impressive roses.
00:53:41And, uh, when they're in bloom, they will really, um, uh, steal the, uh, uh, attention, uh, when people
00:53:50walk past them. And, uh, what is the next one? It is one I brought a lot of attention to
00:53:58in the
00:53:59start of the year, Blackberry Knap. Um, Blackberry Knap. Oh, this one is, uh, you know,
00:54:08it is one of those roses that can create one of the most powerful scents in your scent. But then
00:54:14on the other hand, it can also create like, uh, seven and a half to an eight, uh, red wine
00:54:19scent
00:54:19or something like that. And, um, the last three years mine has been looking very much like that.
00:54:25Very, very purple. And, uh, I find when it turns this very purple color, that is when it gives that,
00:54:32uh, insane scent. But when it turns into the more, um, uh, stressed version of itself, where it's more
00:54:39like, um, um, this, uh, reddish color, that's when it tends to give me that, uh, uh, red wine scent
00:54:46that is not as strong. Um, honestly, I hope next year that we'll have some good weather and, uh,
00:54:55my Blackberry Knap will go back to behaving, um, uh, normal. And, uh, I can start raving
00:55:01more about it again. Um, because this year it, um, I kind of acted up, like, just look at that.
00:55:09Last year I had cut flowers of it that looked just like that, that insanely dark color. And
00:55:16it was just so fragrant. But this year I sadly suffered a bit on the weather and it turned more
00:55:23this reddish color and the fragrance just wasn't as strong really. And what's the next one? The
00:55:31next one is another white rose. Um, it is Pierre Adetti. Pierre Adetti, a really good white cut flower.
00:55:40It can suffer a little bit in the rain and it does take a long time to develop because
00:55:46the flowers are absolutely massive on this one. Um, but it has one of the most gorgeous, uh,
00:55:53fruity fragrances you will ever get in a rose and a really amazing fruity fragrance.
00:55:59Now, um, after looking at Annapurna and, um, Chanel and, uh, Pierre Adetti and Pope John Paul,
00:56:08I hope you're starting to understand why, um, why I'm saying that Austin really needs some more,
00:56:14uh, fragrant white roses that can compete with these because, uh, just look at them. They're
00:56:20like a slice of heaven, really. And, um, what is the next one? It is, uh, not what we see
00:56:26as rose. It is, um,
00:56:29uh, Shandrabi rose here. It is the yellow one. And, um, I find when it just opens, it has this,
00:56:38uh,
00:56:38uh, very, very gorgeous citrus fragrance. And then when it unfolds, it gets this myrrh fragrance,
00:56:46uh, such a mysterious rose, but I absolutely love it. Uh, it is not my favorite yellow because that is
00:56:53Poet's Wife and Chateau de Cheminier, but it is getting up there. Like, uh, it is probably in top
00:57:01five right now of yellow roses for me. I really love that myrrh scent. I love the, um, softness of
00:57:08it, how it looks. Uh, you will be forgiven for thinking, uh, this looks like something Austin would,
00:57:14uh, create. And can you see my own video of it here? But, um, yeah, um, wonderful, uh,
00:57:23rose by the Sears. I even think it is crossed by something with Austin, like Chalot or something like
00:57:29that. Uh, and this one is just so much more fragrant, uh, than Chalot is, uh, on a good day.
00:57:36Uh,
00:57:36if this one has a good day and, uh, Poet's Wife has a bad day, um, uh, nearly the same
00:57:43scent,
00:57:43that will meet around an eight. Um, we love Shenrobi, uh, a very overlooked, uh, yellow rose in my opinion.
00:57:51Um, not completely the best, but, uh, very, very, very good that one.
00:57:57Um, and what is the next one? It is, uh, Fragonard. Fragonard is number 45.
00:58:07Fragonard.
00:58:11This is a rose that has a very powerful scent, a 9 out of 10, uh, fruity scent. Um,
00:58:18it is very complex in layers, so you'll probably find some more tones than, uh, fruit in it. But,
00:58:24um, it took a long time to get going. I received a very weak specimen from 2 and 7 lotum.
00:58:32It took a
00:58:32couple of years to establish, but it is slowly turning healthy and, uh, floriferous. Um, so if
00:58:40you have a bit of patience, I actually think this can, uh, work out well in the end. It is
00:58:45very,
00:58:46very fragrant. Um, it is not the most reliable, but I think that fragrance is, um, really something
00:58:53else. And, um, I understand why it is, uh, called Fragonard. And, um, I didn't want to place it at,
00:59:02um, the first part of my list because it is not the most reliable. Um, but it is certainly a
00:59:08fragrance that will, uh, stop you in your tracks when you, um, uh, send it this one.
00:59:17And, uh, yeah, um, I'm hoping mine will just turn more and more, um, prolific and, uh, healthy.
00:59:25It is for certain the improving a lot and, um, it has gotten its own pot now and I don't
00:59:30dare
00:59:31remove it from the pot because it seems to be going in the right direction now.
00:59:37And, um, what is the next one? The next one is, uh, Capri. Capri, you should never, um,
00:59:43confuse with Lady Capri. Lady Capri is not that fragrant and it gives you more of a tea scent,
00:59:49six out of 10 tea scent or something like that. Uh, Capri on the other hand is very,
00:59:54very fragrant, like an eight to an eight and a half, um, apricot scent. And it has a very gorgeous
01:00:00color. The reason I've put it on this list is, um, I did want a few, uh, apricot scented roses
01:00:06on this
01:00:07list because I think it is one of the most, uh, unique fragrances that, uh, Tantau, uh, really
01:00:14contributes with. So I wanted it, uh, represented in, uh, this list and, uh, it is a very healthy, very,
01:00:22um,
01:00:22fragrant rose also. It doesn't give me that many flushes like two to three, but, um, so I guess
01:00:30it's kind of like a middle of the road. And, um, that is of course also why it is a
01:00:36bit further down
01:00:37on my list here. Uh, because you will often see, uh, the further down the list we go is still
01:00:43completely amazing roses. Still roses I recommend everyone to grow. Um, they just, uh, have some
01:00:50quirks like either it is, uh, a bit on the reliability or it is a bit on the fragrance.
01:00:58And the next one is a good flowering rose. It is a Hansestad rose stock rose.
01:01:06A very, very unique, uh, rose when you look at it. Um, it is one of those that is hard
01:01:12to, um,
01:01:13um, really know from pictures, uh, kind of like George Viva and Colette is. Um, but when you see
01:01:22this one in, uh, reality, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Uh, it has such a unique,
01:01:28uh, look about it. And, uh, it is very healthy. Uh, you can go check out the video I made
01:01:35about that
01:01:35one, uh, if you want to see it, but, um, it is just like a golden carpet mill. They have
01:01:42very,
01:01:43very gorgeous, uh, a golden carpet in my opinion. And, uh, yeah, let's see what was the next one we're
01:01:51going to do here. It is number 48 and it is a modern art rose. And, uh, modern art is
01:02:01one of those
01:02:02that was spread from Chippendale. I just find it even more interesting than Chippendale because,
01:02:07uh, you have that unique color changed on it at the middle and, uh, you have a very gentle,
01:02:15very delicious, uh, apple fragrance on it. And, uh, that, and it just likes pushing out blooms.
01:02:23It can bloom like, uh, four to five times in a season, that one. And, uh, I just like that
01:02:29center
01:02:30and like how unique the center is on it. Um, honestly, a very good rose, uh, if you're just
01:02:39looking for health and reflowering and, um, the scent on it is kind of like when you are scenting
01:02:45a green apple skin or something like that. It's not strong, but, um, it is like a holding a green
01:02:51apple nearly. And I really love the scent of it, even though it's a gentle scent. Um, what is the
01:02:59next
01:02:59one? It is, uh, Mauritia. Now I've been giving Mauritia a little hard, um, reviews, I think,
01:03:09but I've since bought a number two, um, rose of it and it did much better than the first one
01:03:15I had.
01:03:16It does have a very beautiful apricot scent and the blooms are very gorgeous.
01:03:21And I think if you live in a decently warm country, it'll be a very amazing rose for you in
01:03:27the sun.
01:03:28Um, so definitely one of the apricot, uh, scented roses to, uh, consider this one. And, uh,
01:03:36what a romantic look, right? Uh, when it finally blooms this one, I would say it blooms about middle
01:03:43of the road for me. Uh, but the first one I had, that one wasn't healthy at all. I don't
01:03:49know what,
01:03:50uh, went wrong with that one. And what is the next one? It is bliss perfumer.
01:04:00Bliss perfumer. Oh yeah. Very gorgeous call on this one. Uh, and, uh, also a good cut flower. It does
01:04:09have a very gentle, uh, six out of 10 fragrance. A very pleasant, gentle fragrance. Um, just not
01:04:17that strong. So it's not a true fragrance rose. Rose kind of like modern art isn't, but, uh, very
01:04:23gentle, very polite, uh, very elegant rose and, uh, the health and the gorgeousness of the blooms.
01:04:31It is just a very solid, uh, pick for our number 50 spot, in my opinion.
01:04:37And, uh, what is the next one? It is Julia Child. Julia Child. Julia Child is an amazing
01:04:47yellow rose. One of the best, uh, Karuta bread, very healthy, very floriferous. And it has a unique
01:04:54color change where, uh, some of the flowers are very yellow and then they fade out to this like cream
01:04:59yellow nearly. Uh, sometimes they can even go nearly to a cream white, but, um,
01:05:06very floriferous, very gorgeous rose. And when the blooms just unfold, they can have a little
01:05:11bit of, um, aniseed to them, um, on the fragrance, like a six out of 10, uh, sometimes the seven
01:05:18out of
01:05:1810. Um, but they quickly lose the aniseed fragrance in my opinion. So I wouldn't say it is a true,
01:05:26true fragrant rose, but it does have a little bit extra, let's say it like that.
01:05:32Um, the next one is, uh, Vanessa Belle, Vanessa Belle. And, uh, Vanessa Belle, not that fragrant,
01:05:43but simply such a gorgeous rose. Like there's something blousy, something transparent, something
01:05:51like a wedding whale and going on with it. Um, it can be cream white. It can be cream yellow.
01:05:59Um,
01:05:59it can sometimes be close to yellow also. Um, but it has such a soft, elegant look and, um,
01:06:10it's kind of like those roses. Like I said before with the white roses, they're kind of like, uh,
01:06:14how heaven looks you would imagine, right? And this is kind of the same. Um, yeah, such an elegant,
01:06:22gorgeous rose. And when you have seen how, uh, beautiful a bush of this can look,
01:06:29well, I think you'll be lost for words. It is an amazing, beautiful rose. Fun. Not that fragrant though,
01:06:37but very healthy and, uh, also very decent at, uh, blooming that one. And, uh, what's the next one?
01:06:45It is, uh, Princess Anne. And, uh, Princess Anne is one of those really gorgeous roses that just changes
01:06:55color as the blooms fade. Very prolific, uh, very healthy. Um, I kind of regret a little bit not
01:07:04placing it higher because it is a very solid rose, just like, uh, Olivia Austin. Um, but that is
01:07:10sometimes how it goes. Like I said before, there's no bad roses on, uh, on this list. And, uh, this
01:07:18is
01:07:18certainly one I have planted off tree, um, planted a tree of myself. Uh, so it is absolutely one of,
01:07:26uh,
01:07:26uh, my favorite roses. And when you see these large bushes of it, you can probably, uh, understand why.
01:07:34It also makes an excellent, uh, standard rose, kind of like, um, Olivia Austin also does.
01:07:40Uh, just a little bit harder to find than the standard roses of Olivia Austin. Um, but really,
01:07:47if you want something that is, uh, very healthy, very proliferous with a little bit of color change,
01:07:53um, and you find Olivia Austin is a little bit too boring, um, then, uh, Princess Anne might be a
01:08:02very
01:08:02good, uh, substitute. And, uh, what is the next one? The next one? Oh, that's a wonderful Delbarth rose.
01:08:11I don't see, uh, mentioned a lot, but he actually himself, um, said it was one of the best roses,
01:08:18uh,
01:08:19hero bread, and it is one of the most amazing, uh, painters roses or striped roses, and it is Maurice
01:08:27Otrillo.
01:08:31This one, it can just, uh, achieve so many different colors and, uh, put up against the dark, uh,
01:08:40uh, leaves it also makes, um, just creates a masterpiece of color and, uh, of contrast really.
01:08:50Um, it can get, uh, a little bit of rust, but I find, uh, as long as you treat it
01:08:56well,
01:08:57I find it very decent on health also. And, uh, um, it is probably to this day still my favorite,
01:09:05uh,
01:09:06uh, painter's rose by, uh, Delbarth. And, uh, I actually think I like it or a lot of other, uh,
01:09:15striped roses. And, uh, what is the next one? The next one is, uh, Beverly.
01:09:24Beverly, Beverly. Another one of those strong, um, citrus, the mask combos in this one.
01:09:31It can get a little bit of water damage in the rain, but a very healthy rose, um,
01:09:37that, uh, simply looks, uh, stunning. And the fragrance on this one is, uh, really exceptional.
01:09:45Um, it is like a 9 out of 10, uh, it can easily go to. Uh, so good for those
01:09:51of you that like, uh,
01:09:52the fragrance on something like, um, Gertrude Jekyll. Uh, and let's see, what is the next one?
01:10:00It is, uh, Ambercover Rose by Paulson.
01:10:05And, uh, the Ambercover Rose by Paulson is, um,
01:10:11uh, probably one that's the most unusual pick on my list.
01:10:15Um, but let me explain.
01:10:19This rose is, um,
01:10:21the bloom of it is very much like something like Danahue.
01:10:25Danahue is just a ground cover and it puts out like, uh,
01:10:29nearly three times more blooms than Danahue.
01:10:32It can get completely covered in blooms, this one.
01:10:36And they're just as, uh, gorgeous nearly as, uh, Danahue.
01:10:40Um, this one is also older than Danahue.
01:10:43So it has been on the market for a long time,
01:10:46but I don't really see a lot of people talk about it.
01:10:49But, um, it does have that very special bloom shape,
01:10:54that very special, uh, amber color to it.
01:10:57And it can turn absolutely florivorous, uh, that one.
01:11:02Uh, so, um, maybe one to consider if you like, uh,
01:11:07Danahue on Judy Obscuro, uh, these other, um,
01:11:12roses that have the same bloom shape.
01:11:14Um, not that fragrant though, this one.
01:11:17But, um, it makes up for it in, um, the blooming, uh, part of the rose.
01:11:24And, uh, what is the next one?
01:11:27The next one is, um, Chippendale Rose.
01:11:33Uh, Chippendale Rose.
01:11:35Yeah, a wonderful container rose, uh, wonderful for pots.
01:11:40I don't find it that fragrant.
01:11:42It does have a little bit of tea fragrance to it.
01:11:44And I would say like a 5 to 6 out of 10.
01:11:47Um, wonderful color though.
01:11:50And wonderful, um, uh, shape of bloom.
01:11:53They're very round, very compact growing.
01:11:56Um, I love the health and the compactness of this rose.
01:12:01The reason I still rank something like Joy DeViv over it,
01:12:05I find, um, Chippendale and Joy DeViv and modern art to be,
01:12:09in some ways, very similar roses in the bloom.
01:12:12Modern art is a bit taller.
01:12:15But, um, the reason I tend to rank Chippendale lower is,
01:12:21uh, I don't find Chippendale as, uh, floriferous as, um, the other two.
01:12:26Um, and Joy DeViv will often give you like, uh, five, uh, flossers or more.
01:12:33Um, well, I find Chippendale only gives you three.
01:12:36And, uh, I also find modern art tends to, tends to do five.
01:12:40Um, so that is my reason for ranking, uh, Chippendale a bit lower compared to the roses
01:12:46I compare it to.
01:12:48You also have something like Marianne that is, uh, very similar to Chippendale in many ways.
01:12:53But, um, it has an even greater depth of, uh, color on the bloom.
01:12:59Um, I still believe Chippendale has an amazing rose.
01:13:02I grew it myself, uh, well over a decade before I decided to move it one winter.
01:13:08And, um, it waved hello to me, um, but, um, goodbye I guess it was.
01:13:15Um, but, um, nothing to say about this one other than that.
01:13:20It is a solid rose.
01:13:22Um, I just, uh, prefer Joy DeViv because, uh, I find it a little bit more gorgeous.
01:13:29And really the fact that it flowers more kind of seals the deal for me.
01:13:34Um, but Chippendale, you can't go wrong with it.
01:13:39A very solid rose.
01:13:41And, uh, I also believe it's called, uh, is it Duchess of Cornwall or something like that?
01:13:47I can't remember.
01:13:48You can go look it up.
01:13:50Um, what is the next one?
01:13:53The next one is a non-historic rose.
01:13:55Like, I'm really doing my best to weave in a few historic roses every now and then.
01:14:00And, uh, here's the ones I believe is still relevant.
01:14:05And the one that's still relevant is, um, Jack's Cacatier rose.
01:14:09Jack Cacatier.
01:14:11And, uh, yeah, uh, kind of the same situation.
01:14:15Like, um, Rose DeRash, you have very beautiful, um, the mass scent on this one.
01:14:22And, um, you can get it to grow very compact.
01:14:26It is a very good, um, historic rose for health also and for re-flowering.
01:14:33Um, such a unique looking rose also.
01:14:37And the reason I like to include a few of these historic roses is, as you can see,
01:14:42they place the blooms very different, uh, from modern roses.
01:14:46So they give a kind of a different, um, uh, unique look in the garden.
01:14:51And that's why I still believe that they have a special place in your garden.
01:14:56And, uh, I'm only going to include the best varieties of historic roses.
01:15:01But, uh, there are still some historic roses, I believe, even, uh, modern gardeners, um,
01:15:08should enjoy in the garden, uh, if they don't want to miss out.
01:15:13You can also get this one in a white version.
01:15:16And, uh, I actually believe the white version is, uh, even more stunning.
01:15:21Um, it is like 5% more unhealthy, if I have to be critical, the white one.
01:15:27But, uh, both of them are absolutely good.
01:15:31The reason I like the white one a little bit more is because of this bottom-up center.
01:15:36You can see with this green, um, uh, pinhole nearly in the middle of green bottom.
01:15:42Um, absolutely gorgeous in that way.
01:15:46Uh, one of, uh, my favorite historic roses for sure.
01:15:52And, uh, what is the next one?
01:15:55The next one is another historic one.
01:15:58We're really getting into the historic roses now.
01:16:00It is, uh, Madame Hardy.
01:16:03Now, I have to, um, put up a disclaimer here.
01:16:07Um, Madame Hardy only blooms once.
01:16:10But it is so fragrant, so beautiful, that if I only had to tell people to get
01:16:17one once-blooming rose of the old historic ones,
01:16:22um, this one would, uh, be it.
01:16:24And it is, again, that bottom-up green center and those flowers.
01:16:30Wonderful, uh, potent scent on this one.
01:16:33You can really scent it when you're walking past, um, this rose.
01:16:38It has that wonderful mix of, uh, the mask and Alba, um, that kind of meets in this rose.
01:16:45A wonderful, wonderful rose.
01:16:47Be aware, though, that it does get big.
01:16:50It can get to two meters in height, this one.
01:16:54Um, but a really wonderful, uh, uh, old historic rose.
01:17:01And, uh, what is the next one?
01:17:03The next one is, uh, rugosa.
01:17:04I thought we should include at least one rugosa.
01:17:07And the one to take that spot will be, uh, Louis Bonnet.
01:17:11Um, a Canadian-bred, um, rugosa rose.
01:17:16The reason I chose this one is it has a very powerful, um,
01:17:20scented fragrance, a very sweet fragrance.
01:17:23It can be so sweet.
01:17:24You're like, uh, thinking of white sugar and, uh, candy.
01:17:30Um, but it has this very unique, uh, thing at the bloom where there's a little bit of, uh,
01:17:36pink, uh, stripes as it starts to unfold.
01:17:40And, uh, another thing I really like about it is how healthy the leaves is, how healthy it is.
01:17:46And also, um, um, the fact that, uh, that is much more compact
01:17:53than many other rugosas.
01:17:56Um, it is a very solid rose, especially if you're living somewhere, uh, colder.
01:18:01This one can go down to, well, maybe don't try growing it in the arctic next to Santa's house.
01:18:08But, um, you can grow it, um, in Canada and in a lot of other very cold places,
01:18:15even here in northern Scandinavia, if you feel like it.
01:18:19Uh, so, um, but an amazing, uh, rugosa.
01:18:24And I think one of, uh, my favorite rugosas really.
01:18:28And, uh, let's see here.
01:18:30Um, now we are at number 61, number 61.
01:18:35And, uh, number 61 is, um, eyes for you, eyes for you.
01:18:43Eyes for you, Rose.
01:18:46I have thought, um, a lot about including a Holthemia in the list.
01:18:52And, uh, I thought it should be the best one.
01:18:55And the best one, in my opinion, is, uh, uh, still eyes for you.
01:18:59And it has this wonderful bi-color effect.
01:19:02Uh, some people get a bit of fragrance from it.
01:19:05I don't get a lot from mine, but it is very prolific and, um, very healthy rose.
01:19:11And it just looks so stunning, right?
01:19:14Because, uh, it can look kind of like, uh, you know, like a hibiscus or something
01:19:18where you have that double flower flower color or that, uh, bi-color.
01:19:22Uh, so I find it brings something very unique to my garden.
01:19:26And, uh, maybe something, uh, uh, a little bit, uh, wild where you go like,
01:19:32oh, is that really a rose?
01:19:33What is that?
01:19:34All right.
01:19:35Um, so, but it can, uh, flower a lot, this one.
01:19:40And, uh, very good for pots also.
01:19:44Uh, the next one is, um, Double Delight.
01:19:48And, uh, a very powerful, um, fragrant rose also.
01:19:52About eight and a half.
01:19:54Um, one of, uh, my favorites of these kind of like, um, bi-colored ones,
01:20:01where it's white and red.
01:20:03I prefer it over something like Nostalgie and a lot of the others that aren't as fragrant.
01:20:08Um, you can suffer a little bit if you live somewhere very cold,
01:20:12but, um, it tends to do decently well, this one.
01:20:17And the perfume is, um, absolutely gorgeous on this one.
01:20:21Uh, so yeah, uh, what about the next one?
01:20:25The next one, uh, number 63 is, uh, Fragrant Cloud.
01:20:29I thought they should, uh, follow each other.
01:20:31Fragrant Cloud, um, also known as Duftwolke, uh, in German.
01:20:38Honestly, very big blooms on this one.
01:20:41And, um, it is one of the most gorgeous, uh, fruity fragrances you can get, um, on a rose.
01:20:48It is a bit hard to match in a bouquet because it has this very unique orange, uh, red color.
01:20:54And, um, it can also suffer a little bit on health.
01:20:58And also if you live, uh, someplace very cold, so it's not like the most, uh, perfect rose,
01:21:04but that fragrance still, in my opinion, makes it worth growing.
01:21:08Um, and yeah, I guess that is why it is towards the end of the list.
01:21:13It is a little bit flawed, but, uh, trust me when I say that fruity fragrance on it is, uh,
01:21:19well worth, uh, growing it for.
01:21:22And, uh, the next one is, uh, Red Ballerina, and that is number 64.
01:21:29Red Ballerina is a variant of, um, the historic ballerina created by, um, uh, Hagnus.
01:21:38I just like it a lot more because it is, uh, smaller.
01:21:42It is a bit more dramatic in the blooms and, uh, um, it is also more healthy on leaf health.
01:21:49And I just like it more because it's a more polite, small, um, musculos really.
01:21:56And, uh, while I think the normal ballerina, um, it kind of knows how much space it wants
01:22:02and wants to get a lot bigger than this one. So I think like Red Ballerina is the one to
01:22:07go for
01:22:07if you have a more ordinary, uh, size garden. Uh, so really liked that one.
01:22:15I also saw it used in, uh, I believe it was Austin that used it at the front of a
01:22:21flower bed he had,
01:22:22where it looked absolutely gorgeous next to something like, uh, Jacqueline Dupre.
01:22:27Um, I didn't have good experience with Jacqueline Dupre, but I had absolutely good experience with, uh,
01:22:34a Red Ballerina Rose.
01:22:36And the last one, number 65, will be, uh, Sun and Wealth.
01:22:43Now Sun and Wealth, um, it can be yellow, it can be amber, it depends on the light where you
01:22:49place it,
01:22:50how much sun it gets. The more sun, the more amber, usually.
01:22:54Um, but, um, the reason it is on my list is that this is a very healthy rose.
01:22:59It does have a little bit of a tea fragrance, I find, not a lot. Um, but the reason it
01:23:05is on my list
01:23:06is that this is a very reliable rose on the re-flowering. It tends to re-flower a lot, give
01:23:12a
01:23:12lot of flushes. Uh, the blooms are very gorgeous, um, and a very healthy plant. Um, definitely, uh,
01:23:20something I'll put into the same category nearly as something like, uh, Julia Child,
01:23:24Bliss Perfuma, and this very reliable, uh, blooming roses. This one is just a little bit lower on my
01:23:32list because, uh, um, it is harder to plan around when you're doing a garden design because you don't
01:23:38know if the weather will turn it, um, yellow or amber and, uh, it can be a little bit selective
01:23:46when it wants to give, um, each color. Uh, so it can be a bit hard to, to plan around
01:23:52that because,
01:23:53uh, if you have placed it up against, uh, something like in this picture, right, you can see it placed
01:23:59up against, uh, uh, a purple rose that kind of, uh, looks better when it's the amber color. But if
01:24:06it's
01:24:06like the yellow color, it can also give, you'll get more of a contrast. Um, so it can be a
01:24:12bit harder
01:24:12to place, but, um, an absolutely amazing rose from, uh, health and re-flowering and that one.
01:24:21Uh, so yeah, guys, um, that were the 65, uh, roses and, uh,
01:24:27I fought for a little bit of fun. I would, um, ask AI how it fought, uh, these different roses,
01:24:36uh, were, and, uh, it generally agreed with me. Um, I can see here in top one to 10,
01:24:44it says strong and justified and it goes over Y and, um, yeah, it says, uh, your top 10 is
01:24:52strong,
01:24:52thoughtful and, uh, realistic for fragrance and charm. And, uh, uh, in the mid tier, it says nicely
01:24:58varied, uh, and, uh, yeah. And then the last one, it disagrees a little bit with me on black brown
01:25:06nail before I should have placed it higher, but, um, I've already, um, told you guys why I didn't
01:25:13place it higher. It is because the weather right now is kind of messing it up and I want to
01:25:18wait
01:25:18to next year to see what is really going on because, um, I wanted to return to that really
01:25:24powerful fragrance it had when it was completely purple for me. And, uh, until it does that,
01:25:31I'm kind of going to, you know, put it a little bit down on the list. Um, but I'm hoping
01:25:36next year
01:25:37that, um, it returns to that gorgeous fragrance, um, that gave me for well over three years, that one.
01:25:44And, uh, I'm hoping I get that, uh, very deep purple color back, because if that deep purple
01:25:50color is connected to the fragrance, um, which I kind of think it is because, uh, um, in purple
01:25:57roses, a lot of energy is spent on pigment and it kind of makes sense to me if the rose
01:26:01has enough
01:26:02energy to make all that purple pigment, it probably also has enough energy to make that powerful
01:26:07fragrance. Um, so the fact I'm getting more of the reddish taint this year could mean two things,
01:26:14both that there's more sun, but also it is more stress. So it didn't have the energy,
01:26:18um, to create all that purple pigment, which also probably means it doesn't have the energy to
01:26:24create that potent, powerful fragrance. Uh, so I'm really hoping next year that my blackberry nip
01:26:31will, um, go back to acting as usual because, um, I wanted to go back to that. Um, but yeah,
01:26:39guys,
01:26:40um, I nearly forgot all about my, uh, rum here. And, um, unless any of you want to stick around
01:26:47for a
01:26:47lesson on rum, I think, uh, or lesson on a wine, I think we'll, um, just ended here. I think,
01:26:54um,
01:26:56um, if any of you have any comments, you can write it below and, uh, also let me know what
01:27:01your
01:27:01favorite rose is on this list. And, uh, if there's anything you disagree about, uh, put it down there
01:27:08also. Uh, this is an open community and I'm always open for a discussion about these things. And, uh,
01:27:16uh, if you have any questions, uh, just ask away. And, uh, yes, even if it's a question about, uh,
01:27:24a wine or rum, even that I'll answer. But, um, yeah, guys, um, take care out there and, uh, have
01:27:31a
01:27:31wonderful week.
