00:00hello again and welcome to my channel today we'll be ranking a kodess roses and kodess is another
00:08german breather like tantau and today we'll be doing a ranking list of his roses so let's go
00:16down here and see what we have on the tier list the first one on the tier list is kiss
00:23me kate
00:23i really like this rose um i have it on a wall right next to my um get rid jackal
00:32and last year
00:33i noticed that kiss me kate could actually quite stand up to get rid jackal in scent and a really
00:40pleasant scent so it's an 8 out of 10 for me on scent and it seems to be more black
00:46spot resistant
00:47than get rid jackal as a climber um so i actually really like this one and i have great
00:53hopes for kiss me kate so it'll go into the s tier because i think maybe she's a more healthy
01:01replacement for get rid jackal but we'll wait and see she's a really fragrant for sure
01:10next up is laguna laguna is a it has such a tough color to describe because um color is in
01:20between
01:21multiple colors but codess often says it's like five stars on fragrance but in my opinion it's
01:29it is a six to seven for me it's not the most fragrant but it's a really good rose a
01:36really
01:37good climber simply because of how it looks um i'll go ahead here and show you how it looks because
01:43it's a really tough rose to um describe yeah you can see this color but even this color here doesn't
01:54like i'll say this one is very close to how it looks in color um well a lot of these
02:01other pictures
02:02aren't really as um but this this right here is the color you often see from her
02:11yeah let's go on and uh let's view the next one here on the teal list the next one is
02:17jasmina jasmina
02:19is again a really good climber it's fragrant too i wouldn't say it's in the same league as kiss me
02:27kate
02:27but it's a bit stronger than the laguna so it's it's a really good uh fragrant climber just in between
02:37the two but um she's a nice climber and i'm actually in doubt where to put her if it says
02:45i i think for
02:45now i'll go with the a tier for her because in my opinion she's not in the same league as
02:51kiss me kate
02:53next up you have um golden gate now a lot of these uh roses like um golden gate for me
03:02and also
03:03uh florentina and aloha and alaska and amadeus um a lot of these are really good climbers they're not
03:15that fragrant um but they're really healthy they bloom a lot and you really can't go wrong with
03:21them if you want a particular color golden gate is of course a really really large it's like a
03:27you you can really get a lot of yellow in your garden it's a really large plant so take care
03:33of
03:33that one aloha now you have to be really careful this is not the fragrant aloha um there's an aloha
03:40from 1949 um that's really fragrant but this is a modern breed that's more sunshine colored i'll say
03:49more and then you have florentina florentina is uh it's a good rose it's not my favorite rose i have
03:59it on a wall where it's around three meters tall now it does bloom give some blooms but not a
04:05lot
04:05of fragrance on it same with alaska and amadeus blooms quite a lot so all of these climbers here um
04:13really good if you want a lot of flowers in a particular color but not really for
04:17uh scent they're good for color and for health also next up here we have a nordica nordica is
04:28again beautiful flower but not a lot of scent in it um then you have fioris fioris is actually one
04:36of my favorite cadastroses it has a look that's very similar to um what's called goethe just a bit
04:43more bush and shrub like um not as powerful on scent i only get like six to seven on scent
04:51on this one
04:52but it's a really wonderful um purple rose uh and really well behaved too so i i can definitely
05:00recommend the fioris it's not my favorite of the purples if i have to rank my purple it would probably
05:07be uh goethe from tantau and um a blackberry nip from new zealand uh first but fioris is a very
05:19good
05:19third place for me you have here we have frozen road runner frozen road runner is a rugosa rose
05:27so it spreads quite a lot but it has a good perfume and it's one of the more lower varieties
05:33of
05:33um rugosa roses so if you had to have a rugosa rose i'd say it's a very strong choice for
05:40a rugosa rose
05:41we put it up into s tier then we have sunny sky now sunny sky and another one called the
05:50winter sun
05:50behave really similar they produce a lot of blooms and um yeah they're healthy plants not a lot of
05:59fragrance i would say like a four on fragrance both of them um i've actually gotten the color a bit
06:05wrong here winter sun is normally the more pale one and sunny sky is the more yellow one but they're
06:11good if you just want a healthy yellow bloomer but not really for for fragrance the next one is uh
06:19sunnier
06:19de barton barton i actually quite like this one so it's an instant 80 for me the reason i don't
06:26rank it
06:26higher is because there's not a lot of fragrance in it but the way it looks it looks amazing in
06:31my
06:31opinion let's just go here and have a look let's see
06:43yeah you can probably see why i like it it has these really fringed really beautiful blooms on it
06:50um so i think it's worth having just for that bloom alone really beautiful it reminds me sometimes a
06:57little bit of uh princess chelene de monaco with these frilled edges just not in color but a really
07:04good one just for the bloom alone but again not for fragrance and we'll go down here and see what
07:11else we
07:12have on our tier list yeah we have uh koenigen marie and koenig marie is one of the perfume series
07:20as far
07:20as i remember she's not the most fragrant in the perfume series so she's um an a for me um
07:29next up we have a madame annissette madame annissette is one of the best roses uh from condes there's no
07:35a way around it uh real healthy wonderful fragrant um the only caveat i'll say with her before placing
07:43her into s tier is her fragrance is more spice more liquorish roof more these earthy tones so it's not
07:51like an old rose fragrance it's not like um kiss me kate for example or road runner it's you get
07:58this
07:58more spicy fragrance from her next up we have limona limona i will place right here between the sunny sky
08:07winter sun she's a wonderful yellow really translucent yellow she has a most wonderful yellow color that's
08:16that just stands out everywhere so she's a really good rose next up is um graph indiana oh i'm in
08:27such a
08:27love with graph indiana i like the look of her i like the fragrance um the only thing i don't
08:33always
08:34like is the health of her um she's an amazing rose in so many ways but for now mine isn't
08:43performing as
08:44well as i would like but if i had to rate her she was in between here but we'll let
08:52her go up an inch because
08:55yeah she's a red rose and she's one of the most scented uh like um kodes doesn't have a lot
09:02of scented
09:03red roses and this is like one of um the really good scented ones even though if it has some
09:10problems
09:10with the budding and sometimes but yeah you don't get a perfect rose and next up we have courage rose
09:19courage
09:20rose is um not really a fragrant rose but it makes a really huge impressive blooms in this uh fleshy
09:28pink
09:29color um not really pink but it's more like um you know like chandelier beauty and more like these
09:37more cream too yeah it's a really good rose i'll try to see here if we can find a picture
09:44of it
09:45let's try and see yeah you can probably see why i like it these really huge huge huge blooms
09:59so she's a wonderful rose just like a baden baden was a wonderful rose she's a wonderful rose from the
10:06bloom alone so next up we have beverly beverly is an instant s tier for me fragrant a wonderful rose
10:17the
10:18only thing i'll say about her that's negative is she sometimes get uh she can get quite tall on the
10:25stems and quite leggy on the stems if you don't prune her correctly or when she gets really old but
10:31a
10:32wonderful rose rose for fragrance it's probably i think it's it's very close to being one of the
10:39most fragrant quarters for me at least in top three so we're above an eight on uh barely for sure
10:47next up we have westerland westerland is again a a fragrant rose i'll say about a seven um but it's
10:55really good for growing in a bush like a large bush you can also grow it as a climber but
11:01it's a really
11:03good decorative flower i'll go ahead here and show you westerland because it's one of
11:09the better could have roses for sure
11:16yeah you can see this pop of color it has a really stunning color and as i said you can
11:22grow
11:22it as a large bush or you can grow it as a climber but um it's a wonderful rose also
11:28a bit older variant
11:30but a wonderful rose let's go down here and see what we have next next up is uh snevitsen um
11:39snevitsen is uh just as wonderful as uh westland is one of those you can grow
11:44as more of a bush or more of um you can also get it as a climber the the thing
11:50with snevitsen it's also
11:51called iceberg is that it's nearly always in constant bloom it is one of the most constant bloomers there
11:58is and there's not really any fawns on it so it's just one of those really great roses i could
12:05have
12:05easily placed into a tier but i'm going to place it into a tier because um it doesn't have fragrance
12:13for
12:13me and uh but if you like a repeat bloomer then snevitsen is one of the most fabulous repeat bloomers
12:20you can ask for next up you have a order cosar rode cosar is a wonderful um shrub rose for
12:30making a
12:31large red shrub so i actually think i i wanted to place it into b tier but it has such
12:37a specific use
12:38i actually think it deserves to be an a tier i'll go ahead here and show it to you it's
12:45sometimes
12:45easier to show these things yeah you can probably see what i mean here by making a large bush that
12:57just
12:57keeps blooming with roly cosar it's a wonderful rose for creating um that kind of effect so i'm going to
13:06place it a bit higher because it actually has a specific use um let's go back to our list here
13:13next up is rosem uttersen rosem uttersen is one of the older kodesh roses but it's one of those roses
13:19just like snevitsen that is constantly covered in blooms uh so it's a wonderful rose you should really
13:27grow it just like you should grow snevitsen don't let the lowest scent compared to barely and kiss me kate
13:33full you know they're wonderful roses to grow next up you have uh lichkönig in lucia and lichkönig lucia is
13:42again kind of similar to me for these sunny sky winter sun limona lit king lucia they're all healthy
13:49they bloom a lot the only difference is um what color you like and what type of bloom you like
13:57so
13:59next up we have la villa cotta la villa cotta is a wonderful rose it's uh quite beautiful there's
14:08nothing to say about it except i wouldn't rank it that high for fragrance um
14:16i'm a bit of doubt here because i actually think i'll place it down into the beach here it is
14:22one of the
14:23better um cordless roses but i can't think of a specific use only for it it has a really unique
14:30color so i guess we could give it points for that and raise it up like we did um some
14:37of the others
14:38but i'm going to stick with the b tier here next up we have a rosti tollback another climber the
14:46reason
14:46i'm going to place this over the other climbers down here like alaska and a lot of the other ones
14:51that
14:51weren't as scented is because it has a really unique look a rosti tollback isn't as scented either
14:57but it has a really unique look um let's just go see it here
15:09yeah you can probably see what i'm saying here with this uh more bottom-up center and uh some color
15:16change is going on it's a wonderful rose because of that for the look alone and um yeah that's why
15:25i'm ranking a bit higher the special bloom and the special color but let's go back here and see what
15:33else we have oh yeah we have peach melba a wonderful climber too it will definitely go up besides a
15:41rose the tallback again not as fragrant but it's a wonderful looking um climber with a really special
15:47color and let's go back here and see yeah you can probably see here like this really translucent
16:00beautiful color so that's why i'm putting her a bit higher she has a very special color you don't
16:07see in a lot of roses so yeah let's go back to the ranking list here again next up we
16:15have fraulein
16:17maria fraulein maria is also called raspberry cupcake it's such a wonderful rose probably one of
16:25the best from the perfumer series so i'll have to place this one into the s tier really healthy blooms
16:32a
16:33lot um yeah i have nothing negative to say about this rose let's just go ahead here and search up
16:50yeah you can probably see it here it's just a wonderful rose making this small shrub
16:59so yeah definitely one of the best from the perfumer series so and for me she ranks about a seven
17:08and
17:08a half on sand but sometimes she can go a bit higher and we'll go back here to our rose
17:18list next up is
17:20bodeau bodeau bodeau is one of those uh really good red roses for constant bloom um it's a wonderful rose
17:28not a lot of sand um wonderful for for that purpose and i'll do the other ones that kind of
17:35like it you
17:36have out of rosenheim and you have uh till you and spiegel and uh both bodeau uh out of rosenheim
17:44and
17:44till you and spiegel um they're all three wonderful roses not a lot of fragrance but they're healthy
17:50and they'll make a lot of red blooms for you um so pick which one you prefer really it's kind
17:56of like
17:57sunny sky winter sun and limola and lit kuning lucia um pick which one you prefer most really
18:06next up we have baby snippets and baby snippets and is actually a really good rose in my opinion
18:15it's like a smaller variety of snippets but it's a really really good rose with a special look
18:22we'll just go and look it up here on our list
18:33let's go right here yeah and you can probably see here why i like it really beautiful rose and
18:43maybe you could consider growing this one instead of snares and it's completely up to you if you have
18:48a smaller space but it's a really good rose and we'll go back here to our tier list let's see
18:58the
18:58next one is pomponella pomponella makes this a large crop with these kind of like ball like uh very round
19:08flowers kind of like the historic rose uh raw beater does it's a good rose if you have a space
19:15not really
19:16fragrant but extremely floriferous extremely healthy and we'll go have a look here how she looks
19:27pomponella yeah you can see it here it is really round flowers really round flowers so she's good for
19:35achieving that look if you have the space for her she can at least get to about i'll say a
19:42meter and a
19:42a half so she's a large shrub but very healthy let's go down here and next one is novelist no
19:52this is a
19:53really good rose for that more lavender bluish wild color i will have to place this one into a tier
20:04it has
20:04a unique color is really healthy the only thing i'll say about this country are something like 10 000 pacific
20:12blue is this one doesn't have a lot of fragrance it's really healthy and it'll do a lot for you
20:21but it doesn't
20:22have any fragrance so next up we have milano milano is a really really wonderful um small red bush rose
20:36it's good for placing in the foreground and it's a really good rose i'm actually inclined to place this
20:43one a bit higher because it has a special purpose as a more foreground rose we'll go ahead here and
20:50look
20:50it up
20:57yeah as you can see here as i said before it has this more nearly polyanthic look but it's a
21:03really good
21:04rose for for placing in the foreground uh where things can't be that tall so and it creates a
21:12wonderful carpet effect also so yeah a wonderful rose really and let's go back to our tier list here
21:20and see yeah next up is a mass march and sauber march and sauber is the same as a bleach
21:28bliss perfumer
21:30sorry for messing up the names here some of these roses have like 12 names and i really wish burritos
21:39would only go with one name per rose um but yeah bliss perfumer or march and sauber
21:47i'm actually a bit in doubt about this one because it has quite okay fragrance and it has a wonderful
21:52bloom a wonderful shape um does nothing particularly well it's just wonderful in every way
21:59and um but because it has quite a whole package i actually think i'll put this one up into s
22:06tier
22:07um it does everything like it's supposed to do nothing uh sticks out but it's such a well-rounded rose
22:15for me so we'll put that up into s tier and let's go here and show it to you
22:30yeah you can probably see this wonderful color about it wonderful color i would say fragrance about
22:37a 7 out of 7 out of 10 but wonderful color wonderful shape really healthy it's a good rose for
22:44sure one
22:44of the best protest roses um yeah let's go back to a tier list again next up we have a
22:51lion's rose
22:52lions rose is a really prolific bloomer i also think it's called something with champagne it's a champagne
22:59moment really with some of these roses they have like 12 names so sometimes hot but it's a prolific bloomer
23:06and this more fleshy color it's a wonderful rose um constant bloomer when it gets going it can really
23:15create a huge a huge bundle of flowers so let's go here let's see here it's one of the better
23:26ones i think
23:27if you just want a really repeat blooming flower yeah you can see it here
23:36yeah that's probably the correct color for it compared to the one i have in the garden
23:43but when it gets going it tends to bloom in flushes and when it gives you a flush
23:48it is absolutely covered in blooms but let's continue here next up you have cosmos cosmos i would
23:57say is very similar to um something like um schneeweizen and these kind it's just covered in flowers
24:06schneeweizen series is one of those smaller ones that's just covered in flowers constantly
24:11for me it's nothing special um really good if you want a solid repeat bloomer um
24:19it's a good rose but kind of like i've placed amadeus here there's also a really constant bloomer
24:25i'm also placing cosmos here cosmos is a is a bush and amadeus is a climber of course
24:33then we have a hertugin christiana hertugin christiana is earth angel and i'm such
24:41in a doubt about this rose where to place it because if you live in europe it's a definite
24:46seat here because if you live in europe where you get a lot of rain and you get a lot
24:51of
24:52this rose isn't as healthy in europe as i would like it the blooms tend to ball up a lot
24:59these
24:59heavy cup blooms but if you live in america it's one of the most wonderful roses you can get so
25:07if
25:07you live in america it might very well be an s tier um so it's a hard rose to rank
25:15if you're living
25:16somewhere very sunny where warm where there's not a lot of rain uh earth angel is a wonderful rose for
25:23you but if you live in somewhere like i do like denmark or england or probably also germany where
25:29you can get a lot of rain i wouldn't recommend this rose so make up your own opinion about it
25:36where do you live and in america it will grow into a wonderful large
25:43flowering bush for you it's a wonderful rose in america but not really in europe next up we have
25:50a gibruder grim gibruder grim gibruder grim is one of the more wonderful old roses in um
25:58in cordis ornament is kind of like a rosea mutus and the special thing about gibruder grim is it can
26:06flower a lot and it has a wonderful color variation in the flowers let's go ahead here and see
26:16gibruder grim
26:21yeah you can see it here sometimes there's orange sometimes these more cool colors and the whole
26:27bush just varies like that creating a wonderful effect for you and that's what i really like about
26:34it is this color play it has and it has a lot of colors going on wonderful rose for that
26:40but not a lot
26:41of fragrance and we'll go back here to our tier list and see what's next next up is a fridge
26:49uh a fridge yeah frisha it's a wonderful yellow rose not really fragrant as many people say i at
26:57least haven't had a lot of fragrance on it um but yeah um our place is right next to
27:05winter sun i think and the other limona and these it's a good rose it's not that but
27:11it doesn't really rank that special for me next up we have uh stern him stern him also means star
27:20starry sky or star heaven um so and you can probably see why when i show it in the moment
27:27here
27:27what's really special about stern him this is a very low drop really really low and it gets these like
27:34star flower petals or rose blooms i really like it because you can create some unique effects with it
27:42and that's why i'm placing it into a tier because it has a special use and we'll go ahead here
27:49and take
27:50a look at star stern himmel yeah you can see here what i like about it these really star flower
28:01petals
28:02and it's really compact and small too so you can use it as a foreground plant i really like this
28:09one
28:09and it's one of the more overlooked uh coders roses too and let's go down here next up is a
28:17roxy
28:18roxy is a really good um more dwarf plant like these 40 to 50 centimeters it's really good if you
28:28have
28:28somewhere where things can't be that tall and really fully refers rose uh in a special color too i'll go
28:35ahead here and show it to you yeah you can probably see here like this really small rose but blooms
28:48a lot
28:48in a really special color it's good in a pot or somewhere where you don't have a lot of space
28:53for it
28:55so oh yeah a good rose and we'll go down here again next up is a senior senior is one
29:06of my
29:07favorite uh coders roses too it is so because it has a color variation not a lot of roses have
29:14between
29:14a white and pink so i think there's some musk rose called heavenly something uh heavenly pink or something
29:25like that heavenly i'm sure about that also has that variation but senior is one of the only ones
29:32uh from the german rose breeders that have it so let's just go ahead here and we'll show it to
29:38you
29:43yeah you can see here what i'm talking about you have some of them that grows really white and
29:47don't you have some of them grows really pink and you have this wonderful variation between and if
29:53you place a couple of these together you get a really uh cool effect and i think the rose is
29:59special for that and
30:00um deserves a higher tier ranking for that hello so and we'll go back here and look at the last
30:10one
30:11the last one is rosengrafen marie henriette um it's a wonderful rose it's for for me it's again um
30:23yeah what will i place this in it i actually think this belongs up in the um s tier it's
30:30a what
30:30a lot of people also called summer romance a really solid rose um has that really old-fashioned old
30:36historic rose look decent perfume too i think it's a seven and a half for me and but it's one
30:44of the
30:44most solid from the perfume collection for sure let's just go here and show you summer romance
30:58yeah as you can see here it's a really a really wonderful rose creating a new unique effect so
31:06it's good if you like these more old historic looking roses so yeah summer romance another wonderful
31:15um perfumer rose and uh that was that for our ranking list uh this time around i'll go ahead here
31:24and um enlarge the list here and we'll just remove our browser and um we'll go ahead here and now
31:32look
31:33so s ranked i have kiss me kate the very fragrant climber frozen road runner a really good grosser rose
31:40you
31:40can use where there's a lot of sand a lot of salt a bit wild though must run at root
31:46but it's much
31:47lower and much more compact than all of the roses so it will be really good for something like a
31:52summer
31:52house or something like that then you have a matter man said the more spicy and more
31:58fragrant rose it gets a lot of blooms but it's quite um more tall so but a really good rose
32:05if you like
32:06these more spicy fragrance and then you have graph indian graph indian is a really good red rose really
32:13deep red uh you have this really romantic look in her my own complaint about her it's not the fragrance
32:19the fragrance is about an eight i would say um sometimes seven and a half depends on how well she
32:26opens
32:26but my main problem is with her is she spends a lot of time in bloom and sometimes she can
32:32not open at all so barely stellar rose stellar fragrance probably the most fragrant i would say
32:39of goddess roses um but it depends on the time of day but barely for sure get her only problem
32:47with
32:47her she can get a bit leggy and you have to be careful how you cut her next up we
32:53have a fowling maria
32:54a summer romance oh sorry raspberry cupcake raspberry cupcake wonderful color this old historic look
33:02wonderful fragrance too but not as fragrant as um something like beverly but a wonderful good rose and
33:10then you have bliss perfumer it has this really uh wonderful color in it so a wonderful translucent color
33:18like you sometimes see in princess chelene de monaco and yeah summer romance as i just said before a
33:26really good uh old historic look rose laguna a wonderful uh climber not really wonderful for scent
33:33has a scent but not strong jasmina has a bit stronger scent than laguna but a decent climber as well
33:40and if i could highlight some of these i will highlight courage and i will highlight
33:46uh something like um senior and gebrudergrim and roserem utterson but if you have to start with
33:56let's say four new codess roses i'll say kiss me kate as a climber beverly as a tea hybrid
34:04and uh probably march and sauber as a small bush and uh fraule maria and um summer romance
34:12these two raspberry cupcake and summer romance i would recommend too so yeah that was it for
34:20codess roses i would say codess roses in general have really floriferous uh roses and really healthy
34:27roses you don't see a lot of black spot and a lot of mildew on them they're kind of like
34:31uh other german
34:32rose breeders they're extremely healthy um the only critique i'll give about um codess is sometimes in the
34:41perfumer collection you'll see things being in bought for a long time and because they spent a long time
34:48in bottom sometimes three to four weeks what happens sometimes is uh the weather ruins them before you
34:56get the board and sometimes they're really hard to do cut flowers off because um you you put the flower
35:03inside but it doesn't really develop well so um that's the only gripe i have with codess roses um that
35:13is the budding time in some of the perfumer collection but besides that i think the wonderful roses will
35:20give you a lot of blooms they're very healthy and um as long as you know and you select a
35:26bit in the
35:27perfumer collection you get wonderful roses uh really so that was it for codess and uh thank you for
