00:00hello again and welcome to my channel today we will be ranking a Milan roses and there's a lot
00:08of s rankings incoming when it comes to Milan roses because they have a lot of scent but let's
00:16go ahead and check it all out and we'll go to our tier list here the first one on a
00:24tier list is
00:26delish delish is also called sweet perfume the prongs and I also believe she's called Lena I
00:37know you'll have to apologize there's so many names for the same rose in the rose world that
00:44is sometimes just a little bit crazy so stick with me here but we'll go with the name delish
00:52from now on or you can call her sweet perfume de prongs I actually believe that's probably the
00:57best name for her but um I'll instantly place this one into the s tier it's a healthy rose
01:06cold resistant very fragrant um it's honestly one of the most fragrant roses you can get it's a one
01:15for rose and it's well above a nine out of ten for me so and what I also like about
01:22it is that
01:23there's a bit of color in it from like a cooler temperature to a more reddish temperature towards
01:30the center it's a really wonderful rose and definitely and there's ranking formula on here
01:37next up you have Leonardo da Vinci and this is a wonderful rose for many reasons not really for
01:46scent it's really healthy has no issues with health whatsoever and it's also really floriferous like
01:55it's constantly um well I wouldn't say constantly in bloom but it's one of the most blooming roses you
02:03can get it has a tendency to um create these huge flushes where the entire bush is just covered in
02:11blooms and then it waits a bit and then it comes another huge flush where the rose is just covered
02:17in blooms and it will often do that three to four times so if you're looking for a very floriferous
02:24and
02:25healthy rose Leonardo da Vinci should definitely be the one you should look out for but because it
02:35doesn't really has a strong a fragrance I'm going to place this into a tier it's not a whole package
02:44next up we have a black baccaro black baccaro is a wonderful rose it's one of the more black red
02:54roses
02:54you can use for cutting I would probably have to place this one it's a tough one because not
03:03really a lot of the black roses are healthy and black baccaro is kind of similar you have black magic
03:10black baccaro a lot of these black red roses um they're not that healthy and they often only give you
03:18a
03:18few few blooms per season but it's a difficult one because unique color very wonderful when you
03:27finally get a rose but not a lot of repeat bloom and not uh that healthy so I think we'll
03:36it's difficult it should probably be here but we're going to place it into b tier for now
03:41don't get me wrong it's a wonderful rose to have but it's not um and it'll really steal your attention
03:49uh when it finally blooms like let's go ahead here and look it up
04:02yeah you can probably see it here really romantic looking rose
04:07I really like it when it's in bloom I constantly take pictures of it when it's blue but it's one
04:13of
04:13those where you don't get a lot of blooms and it can also be a bit unhealthy it's not the
04:20most prolific
04:21bloomer so it is definitely worth having in your garden but um you should place it somewhere where it's
04:30not the main focal point somewhere where um it can be allowed to bloom in its own tempo
04:39but uh let's go back here to our tier list next one is uh princess shaleen demonico oh if you
04:47have
04:47followed this channel for a while you'll know I absolutely love princess shaleen demonico she has
04:53everything the special look the 9 out of 10 scent very healthy very frost resistant she's an extremely
05:01frost resistant rose uh compared to being a french rose so delish and princess shaleen demonico you
05:10really can't go wrong with those two another thing I really like about princess shaleen demonico is how
05:16she has these um fringes on the edges of her petals and also the color change in her she has
05:24a lot of
05:25colors in her and um she's a wonderful rose um she has this translucent quality to it uh it's kind
05:34of like
05:34if you ever watched um shander's beauty shannon's beauty is a really beautiful rose also because it's
05:42translucent color princess shaleen demonico is nearly even more perfect because she has more colors she
05:50has this fringe edges she's just a wonderful rose really next up we have eden rose oh eden rose now
06:01you
06:01have to bear with me again because eden rose it's called eden rose 88 because it's the year it launched
06:08it's also just called eden rose in some countries it's called wildestrobe in other countries it's called
06:13pierre de ronsard so um you know you just have to remember a lot of names in the rose world
06:23but um
06:25eden rose even though she's not fragrant um she still got an s ranking for me because she has this
06:32really
06:32unique look where she has a little bit of lime green that turns to white in the outer petals that
06:39then turns to this more pink color and this lime green up against the white and pink it simply looks
06:48so wonderful it looks kind of like a marzipan wedding rose all rolled into one it's a wonderful rose
06:54and even though it's not fragrant it's really healthy and the blooms last for so long they can
07:01sometimes on my bush as uh my climate has run nine years now they sometimes last for four weeks and
07:09uh last december my eden rose was still trying to bloom even in scandinavian weather so
07:16quite healthy rose quite unique look a wonderful rose now you can get the eden rose also in a white
07:23version a red version the white version is called something with palais and um the red version is something
07:29called tapali what i know about the eden roses are the blooms last a long time they don't have a
07:35lot of
07:35fragrance but if you have to choose one eden rose in my opinion it should be the original eden rose
07:42eden rose
07:4388 pierde on side really struck just eden call it what you want it's a wonderful rose and should definitely
07:51be a new rose garden next up you have bonica bonica extremely healthy extremely floriferous a very low
08:00grown shrub um it's wonderful if you have a low an area you just want to keep low maintenance and
08:07keep
08:08the weeds and stuff like that out um like if you had a communal area a public area this is
08:16a really good
08:16rose for just being constant bloom and being very low maintenance it's a wonderful rose for that reason
08:24and if you just like constant flowers proliferous plant then bonica is the rose for you not a lot of
08:32fragrance though but a wonderful rose it kind of reminds me of the what i call the fairy roses the
08:39fairy
08:39roses are um also really proliferic and uh makes these low growing shrubs and um the thing with bonica is
08:49bonica has a bit larger flower but it has some of the same characteristics next up we have sean
08:58more and the sean more is a really good white rose really fragrant really low growing i'm just going to
09:08find a rose that really is her sibling and that is pierre adetti pierre adetti is also a really fragrant
09:16really good pure white rose with the most wonderful both of them have the most wonderful flower form
09:24if i had to say what separates them it's pierre adetti is more for cut flowers our channel is more
09:32compact more low growing better for the front of the garden and for most gardens
09:37well pierre adetti more is more rose you grow in the back of your garden and more for cut flowers
09:44but they're both wonderful uh pierre adetti the more tall rose used for cut flowering and
09:52both wonderful roses both wonderful fragrance the thing you do want to remember with these are they can be
09:58a bit more cold sensitive like you really want to protect these already at minus 10 and at minus 15
10:05you
10:06really want to look after and at minus 20 you're in difficulty let me say it like that but totally
10:12worth growing because there's not a lot of really good white roses if you had to go with one i
10:19would say
10:20sean more is the better one to go with but they're both really good but as again said not as
10:27cold hardy as
10:29these three over here delish princess lane monaco and eden rose next up we have francis milan francis milan
10:38is another s tier for me francis milan is also called prince uh chatinier so wonderful fragrance again it's
10:48kind of like um princess charlene de monaco a taller rose wonderful fragrance a really nice color play
10:58in my opinion princess cellene monaco is still the better rose but francis milan is simply such a good
11:04rose and it's also a bit more hearty than chamorro and pierre adetti so you shouldn't be as worried
11:10about this one as the other two wonderful fragrance a 9 out of 10 for me also
11:18next up we have use pc oh sorry use psj if i can pronounce it it's something sometimes that's uh
11:28swishing between all these languages uh if we look just at fragrance she's an s tier wonderful fragrance
11:37again if you look at health she can be a bit more vulnerable and a bit more difficult but again
11:46if i
11:46had to say the same the same would be true of chamorro and pierre adetti but just as long as
11:52you know
11:52that about these three roses you need to be a bit more careful but a wonderful fragrance on all three
11:59and that's why i rank them highly next up we have a red perfume depurance red perfume depurance is an
12:07instant s tier for me very low beautiful and growing um rose a tea rose wonderful fragrance um it's just
12:18a
12:19marvelous rose i also believed austin once called it one of the best red roses in the world and i
12:26really
12:26agree about that it's from the same series as delish delish as you remember sweet perfume depurance
12:33and uh this one red perfume depurance and chanemiro is also sometimes called white perfume depurance
12:41so you see how this can get very confusing but bear with me uh it is that way with a
12:47lot of roses
12:49next up we have uh po i just have to remember the name of the orient express yeah orient express
12:58is a
12:58wonderful rose uh it's been actually surprisingly healthy for me not a lot of fragrance surprisingly
13:05healthy blooms a lot um it has a unique color with these petals um yeah pullman or an express is
13:17is a it's a decent rose um i think black pakara and it belongs side by side they're good for
13:24a unique
13:25look but they don't excel in much else except a unique look so next up we have michael polo michael
13:35polo
13:36is um an a ranking for me i would say it's unique in the way you have a yellow rose
13:44that has a decent
13:45fragrance what i don't like about it is it gets a bit taller a bit more leggy and um yeah
13:52it's more the
13:53form of it i don't always like polka is another really good rose um if you want this a peachy
14:01more
14:01apricot climber in your garden not a lot of fragrance but a really good climber for this peachy apricot color
14:10so maybe um yeah it should be a really good climber if you want that another one is the tenta
14:19rose i said
14:20before like there's a tenta rose i believe i can't believe i can't remember right now it's a
14:26tenta cordis a german rose called peach melba it has some of the similar color next up we have a
14:34papa
14:34milan and the improved version here jubilee papa milan a wonderful red rose one of the most beautiful
14:43in my opinion and really fragrant um not always as healthy as red perfume depurrents but it definitely
14:51belongs in your collection but we'll put it over here alongside chamoye you believe probably milan
14:57and the piadetti they're both really wonderful really fragrant and really beautiful roses you just
15:04have to be a little careful of the cold the same with usp so all these four are worth growing
15:12just be
15:12careful with the cold but if you're in a warm climate you probably have no issues whatsoever
15:19so it's only me here in the scandinavian climate and next we have a astronomer and it's a really
15:28it's a really good single flower rose kind of like um you know in the austin sodomen you have
15:34queue gardens and you have tottering bud generally but um let's go ahead here and show it to you
15:49yeah you can probably see why it's a good single flower just look at here in the foreground
15:58really good single flower i also sometimes seen some people grow it as a standard tree rose
16:04but it's good for if you have a bed like a pink bed or white bed and you if you
16:10want to add a bit of
16:12lightness to it with a simple bush plant that doesn't grow insanely tall
16:19you can definitely use this one for that but again not a lot of fragrance and but it is quite
16:26healthy
16:26though and decently healthy so we're again stuck between the a and b tier in my opinion but we're
16:34placing it into b tier i think because yeah it has the unique look of course but i think that's
16:42the same
16:42with these two they have their unique look and not much else next up will probably be an unpopular
16:49opinion but iconic is one i'll have to place into siege here um it's still alive in my garden is
16:56uh
16:56still um it hasn't frozen down but what i really don't like about iconic is you have no scent and
17:03it has
17:04it doesn't give me a lot of blooms to be honest um i'm lucky if i see it bloom once
17:10in a season or
17:11maybe even twice if i'm really lucky um but it's still alive and it's still growing but it hasn't
17:19given me a lot of blooms next up you have eddie michette eddie mitchell eddie mitchell the unique
17:27thing about eddie mitchell is kind of the same thing as a black perkara you have a rose that has
17:33these
17:33really dark leaves but then it kind of has this color change on the back side where it's more mustard
17:39colored or more brownish colored creating a really unique powerful effect for you but what i don't
17:45like about it is um it's not always as cold hardy and not always as healthy it's a bit more
17:52healthy
17:53than black perkara about the same in health as a pullman orient express but it has a really unique look
18:02that makes it well growing i'll go ahead here and show you yeah you can probably see here the unique
18:17look with these petals and it's a wonderful effect if you combine it with all red roses
18:25and i also think um um milan did another rose called bold shoy that might actually be a predecessor
18:35of this one i don't really know that has some of the same effect but it's a bit more fragrant
18:43but not really as pronounced in the effect so but yeah i think i'm pretty happy placing it into a
18:51b tier
18:52it has a wonderful um effect to how the colors are on the rose and how it blooms but um
18:59except that
19:00um yeah i think i'm pretty happy now next up is a colette oh colette is a difficult one for
19:09me to place
19:10it has a bit of fragrance but it's not um the rose you get for fragrance it has a lot
19:16of small blooms it's
19:18really prolific it's a wonderful healthy climber it's one of most healthy prolific climbers you can get
19:26and wonderful tightly packed flowers um
19:33yeah it's either an a or an s tier for me um
19:38um considering we made an exception for eden rose i think i'll make an exception for colette as well
19:50these two are not uh fragrant but they're well worth growing in their own right as prolific bloomers and
19:57really healthy roses with a unique look next up we have alba midland and alba rose alba midland it's more
20:09of a low-growing shrub rose what i don't like about it is um it can sometimes shoot out with
20:15a bit of
20:16more longer canes um not a lot of fragrance um there's a lot of bloomstone but
20:24what i don't like about it as as much as um the shrub shape of it it doesn't really make
20:32as
20:33nice of a round shape as a lot of the alternatives on the market so but still healthy still a
20:41lot of
20:41bloom still a wonderful rose but i don't like the shape of it next up you have acropolis acropolis is
20:51um
20:53it's a difficult one because nothing looks like acropolis nothing even come close to looking like
20:59acropolis but it's one of those looks that kind of like um how do you say it splits uh people's
21:07opinion splits the waters um because um it's not your typical look of beauty but it is certainly very
21:15and unique um i'm in a bit of a doubt between a and b tier here i think i'll give
21:26it the benefit
21:27of the doubt and place it into a tier because it is a very unique rose um let's go over
21:34here to a browser
21:35and view acropolis
21:41yeah you can probably see this really unique effect i'm talking about
21:47not a lot of roses uh look like that a really unique effect
21:54it's a healthy rose there's a good rose but if you like the look of it um
21:59um that is something you will have to determine for yourself
22:05and let's go back to our tier list here again next is a zepeti zepeti is a really good low
22:14growing
22:15red rose if you need something in the foreground of a bed where you can't grow much else because of
22:22height or you want something that's really low around 40 centimeters zepeti is a wonderful rose for
22:29that and so yeah where to place it i think i'll place it into yeah i think we'll go well
22:40i like the
22:41shape of it more than alba metal and it's also okay healthy we'll uh raise it to eight here next
22:49up you
22:49have l l is another part of the perfume deploying series what i like about l is um she has
22:57more of a
22:58a good shape than a lot of the others from of the old roses from the perfume depurance here
23:06a lot of the perfume depurance series roses have a really good fragrance but
23:11not all of them are as cold hardy or as beautiful in the shape some of them can get quite
23:17tall
23:18and l is one of the ones that get a more beautiful shape than the others you also have
23:25uh andrey lenort and you have the macartney rose both of these grow quite tall they have a really
23:32strong powerful fragrance above eight out of ten um but the winter hardiness and also um
23:41i would say the the look of the shrub suffers a bit from these two instead i would recommend you
23:50grow
23:50something like francis milan and princess jeline de monaco and a lot of um the more modern and better
23:57alternatives but they are really prolific brumers and if you live in a warm country um and just want
24:05roses with powerful fragrance these could easily be expanded into your repertoire i just believe time has
24:15well i wouldn't say it has made them obsolete but i just think there's so many good fragrant roses in
24:23uh in the sortment of uh milan next up we have a bolero and bolero is another s tier wonderful
24:33healthy
24:34fragrant rose you can grow in a lot of countries um very powerful fragrance also a bit more healthy
24:41and then sean mario and um pierre daddy but yeah really wonderful white rose a bit more a little
24:50more cup shaped but a wonderful rose uh white rose to grow next up we have sweet mademoiselle again
24:59really wonderful really fragrant really healthy rose an instant s tier also a really wonderful rose and that's
25:09again why i say something like and really not ray and the paul mccartney rose and it's not that they
25:15obsolete it's just that you have so many good roses now in the assortment with milan especially when it
25:23comes to fragrance um that you don't like anything to choose from in milan when it comes to fragrance
25:33it's probably one of the most widest and broadest uh assortment of fragrance um among rose breeders so
25:41a really good assortment for fragrance next up where we have julia iglesias and um
25:52yeah this is another b tier for me um it's a decently healthy rose not the most prolific bloomer
25:59and what i think it suffers from is you have a lot of alternatives to these striped roses you have
26:05something like rug and roll you have sentimental and in my opinion you're probably better off
26:11getting rug and roll than julia iglesias because rug and roll is a bit better i would say but
26:20you really you see it will give you some blooms but it's not the most healthy and it also has
26:26a bit of
26:26fragrance to it so in that way it redeems itself a bit but rug and roll also have a have
26:32some very
26:32strong fragrance so wonderful rose but um you can probably find better striped roses next up we have
26:43peace rose and peace rose is um one of those roses i'm a bit in doubt about
26:53it's very significant because um it's called peace because it was uh invented at the end of uh world
26:59war ii that's where the name peace comes from because uh it was released around the time where you have
27:06the ceasefire and the allied forces won in world war ii um you can also get a more uh
27:16uh what's called a more orange called version of it a more multicolored version called chicago peace
27:24it's not really both of them are not really fragrant roses and they can also be a bit sensitive to
27:29cold
27:30the first year but they bloom all right and they have a really unique look and it's one of the
27:36most if
27:36not the most sold rose in the world for a reason um just don't go expect a lot of fragrance
27:43from it and
27:44remember to be a bit careful the first season well in the ground next up we have abe de cluny
27:53and abe de
27:54cluny is on this list for a reason it's one of the roses with a very unique color
28:03it's not the most healthy rose always but it's very special because of the color alone
28:10it is the color it shares with the just joey rose and um the only reason i'm ranking it a
28:18bit lower
28:19is because well i'm actually in doubt i actually think we'll move it up a spot but one thing you
28:26have to keep in mind with this rose and just joey is um they're not that cold hearty you have
28:32to
28:33really protect them during winter um so but if you live in a warm country and want a special color
28:39abe de cluny and also another rose called just joey which is also in the lineage of this rose
28:46are both really good roses to grow for that special color i'll just go ahead over here and show you
28:54the
28:54color of um abe de cluny
29:03yeah you can probably see the color i'm talking about it's almost this salmon color this very
29:08very light salmon decolor it's a color she has with another rose that's called just joey
29:18which is in its parentage but the problem with both of them is they have this very special color
29:24no all the roses have but they're not that cold hardy um so if it was me and i had
29:31to choose maybe
29:33just joey and keep it in a pot and move the pot to a very sheltered position during winter but
29:40i'll
29:40leave that decision up to you depending on what climate you're in and while we're in here let's just
29:48see at some of the other roses we put um
29:56into s tier you can see a sweet mademoiselle here a really good rose both for fragrance and for health
30:04and um you have a princess charlene de monaco
30:12yeah you can probably see why i like her so much
30:15this wonderful color change these little frilled edges wonderful rose and then we have delish or
30:23sweet perfume de parance yeah just look at that just look at that wonderful fragrance wonderful health
30:31a wonderful rose really and let's just do sean mero would you look at that those wonderful it's almost
30:45in my opinion is the perfect white rose uh on in its shape it's also as i said before called
30:53white perfume
30:53de parance but just look at the shape of those flowers could you imagine a more perfect white flower
31:01shape as i said again wonderful fragrance wonderful flower only problem is sometimes the cold hardiness
31:11so yeah it's um i think we'll do the last one that's the eden rose
31:20yeah here you can really see what i'm talking about with the eden rose this lime color that gets slightly
31:25white and then into a more pink color and then into a more pink color it's a wonderful wonderful color
31:31change on the rose and when you have many of them together in different stages of bloom you achieve
31:37a really unique color effect um it's also called piedi or ansat as i said and um not fragrant but
31:45the
31:45flowers last so long and it is such a healthy climber that you really can't go wrong with this one
31:52so yeah i think this was it from the milan roses they're wonderful roses
32:00the only problem you sometimes can have with the milan roses are frost hardiness because they are
32:06french roses so you have to be really careful already around minus 15 and when they get down to around
32:13minus 20 you are in the danger zone with a lot of these and the only exception is something like
32:19princess
32:20chalene de monaco eden rose bonica leonardo da vinci and a lot of these really healthy ones
32:27in this ornament but they are all totally worth growing just as long as you remember you get wonderful
32:33healthy roses wonderful fragrant roses you just have to be careful of the frost but everything except that
32:41milan roses are absolutely wonderful and you should grow a lot of them in your garden wonderful roses
32:48if i had to pick three you should be growing i would say princess chalene de monaco eden rose
32:56and then it will be a really hard choice for me it will probably either be um colette or sweet
33:04mademoiselle
33:06but or delish delish is also really solid but i have no doubt i can really recommend princess chalene
33:14de monaco and eden rose to you and also delish those should probably be the tree you go with
33:21in all honesty and colette if you need a climate that's not fragrant but really healthy but really
33:27get princess chalene de monaco and eden rose you won't regret it you really won't
