00:00Homage ababra, also known as Dancing in the Dark, is a rose bred by Delbarth in 1997.
00:08The rose is approximately 130 centimeters tall and 120 centimeters wide.
00:15It is hardy down to zone 6b.
00:18Now this rose is exceptionally hardy, disease resistant, and a very wonderful rose for flowering and for health.
00:30The petals on the flower heads themselves are very, very thick, making the flower last nearly forever, kind of like
00:40Eden Rose sometimes does.
00:42Compare that with how prolific it is in blooming and also how healthy it is.
00:50And I think this is a really good rose for health and flowering.
00:55It has for sure really impressed me in that regard out of many of the red roses I grow.
01:02And I grow a lot, as many of you know.
01:06So, what is my opinion about this rose?
01:09Well, I have bad news.
01:11On fragrance, there is nearly no fragrance at all.
01:14And I am sure I am imagining a tea fragrance at the back end,
01:19because it is so faint that my immediate instinct is to rank this rose 0 out of 10 or 2
01:26out of 10.
01:28This rose is very, very blank on fragrance, kind of like Rode Cousin also is.
01:35So, don't expect any fragrance from this rose whatsoever.
01:40But do expect flowers that last forever, that stand well up to the elements.
01:45And do expect a plant that is extremely healthy, extremely floriferous.
01:52And the leaves on this plant are wonderful, beautiful,
01:56because they have this kind of like dark cellular tone to them
02:01that matches well with the very dark red on this one.
02:04If I had to describe the leaves on this one,
02:07they remind me kind of an art del bar rose called Maurice Outrello.
02:13And, yeah, I sometimes like both of these roses,
02:20because they are extremely healthy and extremely floriferous.
02:25So, yeah, I am in a bit of a doubt of what I should give homage to Barbara.
02:34I actually think I am going to give this one a silver medal,
02:37because it does seem like an extremely floriferous and extremely healthy rose.
02:44And I think when it comes to red roses,
02:47you only have Ingrid Bergman rose that can kind of match it in that regard.
02:55Or something like the huge bushes like Rode Cousin.
02:59So, this does stand out for me as a rose that is very good for health and flowering.
03:06If one wants a red rose that does that.
03:09And it also has something unique going on with these frilled edges.
03:16So, yeah, I actually think this one does get it as silver medal.
03:20Like, the health is absolutely amazing.
03:22Eight and a half out of ten on health.
03:23The fragrance, zero out of ten.
03:27The storytelling, probably a seven and a half out of ten.
03:31The flower, the flower is actually quite nice, last forever.
03:34So, probably a seven and a half out of ten again.
03:37And the form, the form is quite tall.
03:40So, probably only a seven and a half there.
03:43But it does have a lot of leaves out well.
03:47So, I actually do like it, even though it wants to get a bit bigger.
03:52This is probably a rose if I had to plant it again.
03:55I will plant it a bit further back in my rose bed.
03:59But seeing as I have to move around some of my red roses,
04:04I'll probably do that this autumn when it's more wet.
04:11So, yeah.
04:12Homishababra, a really wonderful rose for health and flowering.
04:16Also known as dancing in the dark.
