00:00Pacific Blue is a rose bred by Tantau in 2014.
00:06The rose is approximately 80 cm tall and about 50 cm wide.
00:14What is really special about it is this lavender color and also the very strong damask fragrance.
00:24I have grown most of these lavender colored roses, Nordica, Novelis, Love Song, Twice
00:34in the Blue Moon and a lot of the other ones.
00:37But this one is still my favorite out of all of them.
00:41And why is that so?
00:43It is the beautiful form, the beautiful health and also the fact that this flower is more
00:51shallow cup than the others so it stands better up to rain.
00:55Many of the other lavender colored roses have a really hard time during a heavy rain where
01:01they want to ball up or they get a lot of rain damage.
01:05Pacific Blue still gets a bit of rain damage but it is nowhere near as bad as the other
01:11roses.
01:12This on Pacific Blue the rain often tends to damage the outer petals, the very outer petals.
01:19But the rest of the bloom tends to be fine while many of the others are lavender colored.
01:25They tend to have the whole bloom get destroyed by rain.
01:29That and compared with the 8 out of 10 damask and also the excellent winter hardiness on this
01:37one.
01:38Honestly it is a very solid lavender rose and I think the form is so beautiful and it is
01:45also quite good at flowering.
01:49There's always a lot of flowers in this rose which you actually don't see in a lot of the
01:54other lavender colored ones.
01:56They tend to set more of these singular flowers but this one tends to really get full of flowers.
02:03So this one is my favorite out of all the lavender colored roses and what I really think sets
02:12it apart is the health, the fact it stands up to rain better and also the powerful fragrance
02:18and the fact that the stems are very compactly held together with the rose.
02:24You don't get the long tall canes of some of the other lavender roses.
02:29But what do I rank it?
02:31I rank it 8 on health, 8 on fragrance as I said before, damask, a bit of honey, a very
02:37sweet fragrance.
02:39You will like it if you like the typical damask roses.
02:42Flowering I give it 7.5.
02:44The flowers are a tiny bit smaller than the other lavender ones.
02:49Not completely small but a bit smaller.
02:51Form I give it 9.
02:52It has an absolutely beautiful form that is very dense, very compact and it has very beautiful
02:59healthy foliage.
03:00On storytelling I only give it 7.
03:02It has a very unique color but there is no color change or anything going on.
03:08So really amazing rose.
03:10I give it 39.5 points out of 50.
03:14And I actually think this rose deserves a gold medal because in my opinion it is the best
03:23of the lavender colored roses and that makes it very unique.
03:28So yeah that was pacific blue, a really good rose if you like the lavender colored look and
03:34also if you want a really good damask fragrant rose.
