00:00hello again and welcome back to the channel today we'll be ranking some more fragrant roses
00:07we'll go over the most fragrant roses i found in 2024 when i had about 200 roses i have about
00:17400
00:18fragrant roses now but we'll go over the best ones from from last year because i see a lot
00:24of lists out there that aren't true and a lot of roses aren't really as fragrant as people say
00:31and i think that will leave a lot of people disappointed because a lot of four to five
00:37fragrant roses gets passed off as really fragrant roses so i thought i'd do something better for you
00:44guys and give you the roses that are really fragrant so you don't have to waste as much money as
00:50i did
00:50when starting out so we'll go over the list now and proceed to our tier list over here
01:00and as you can see the first one on the tier list over here is a cappella now a cappella
01:05is um
01:07decently tall rose you can get to a meter a meter and 20 and it has these reverse leaves with
01:13a
01:13silver to white on the back side and then this magenta color on the outer petal it's actually
01:19quite fragrant um which surprised me also it's actually an eight out of ten and um we'll put it
01:28into the a category um in general i'll put roses to rank about eight i'll put into to the eight
01:36category and
01:38to the eight category and roses to rank nine or above i'll put into the s category but acapella is
01:44a
01:44really good rose you just don't want to place um anything close to her because she is a bit sensitive
01:51to how much uh things are going on around her i had this rose placed for nine years close to
01:58other
01:58roses where it didn't do much but when i moved it to a more isolated space it became a really
02:05wonderful
02:06performer um so yeah the next one is the poet's wife this one i'll place into s tier it's a
02:14nine out of
02:14ten rose for me uh really citrusy really fragrant um the only negative thing i'll say about it is it
02:21twirls a bit around itself the canes can kind of twirl and that makes her hard to place um in
02:27my opinion
02:28she can only be used in a pot or maybe a border um so but a really good rose and
02:34what makes her so
02:34special is she's the only true fragrant yellow rose in my opinion well at least of the yellow roses i
02:42found
02:43so far the problem with a lot of yellow roses is that the scent on them are often not that
02:51pleasant often if they do have fragrance it's often like a more brute tea fragrance maybe some anise
03:01so but the fact she has a really good fragrance places her into the s tier next up is emily
03:08bronte i'll
03:09have to place emily bronte into the b tier it's a seven and a half out of ten for me
03:14on fragrance
03:15only problem with her is she sometimes break her canes because she gets like three to four flowers at
03:22the end of her canes and the canes are quite long and the flower buds are quite heavy and the
03:28flowers so
03:29what often happens if if you have a lot of wind then she's kind of top heavy and they can
03:33break the stem at
03:34the bottom uh so another one is uh eustacia y this one is more close to an eight on fragrance
03:43i'll place
03:43an extra acapella again a more fruity fragrance it's similar to silas mana and a lot of others in
03:49fragrance i'll go here and place silas mana next to her silas mana is a really good repeat bloomer it's
03:56again an eight out of ten um but it makes a more small flat blooms they're actually really good blooms
04:03to
04:03stand up to rainy weather and stuff like that because they're quite flat cupped um but really
04:10fragrant and really proliferic and really healthy bloomer so you can't really go wrong with this one
04:16if you just want a workhorse and you're willing to accept a bit smaller blooms and the halo car is
04:24also an eight out of ten and it's similar to silas mana a lot of smaller blooms and the only
04:30real
04:31difference is halo car gets a lot of spikes and it is a bit more um pink only in color
04:38but silas mana can
04:39sometimes throw a little bit of light pink in with the pink and a little more bottomed up look on
04:46a
04:46silas mana um here we have get rid jiggle our first climber even though you can grow it as a
04:55bush if you
04:57cut her top canes off like she'll sometimes do a long shoot where there's no blooms at the end of
05:05you
05:05can use as making her into a climber but if you cut that off you can make her into a
05:11bush
05:13i'll probably do a video about that later if someone needs help identifying how to do these english roses
05:20that way but i'm actually a bit in a doubt about get rid jiggle because she doesn't really hit the
05:28nine out of ten to qualify her for s category she's like eight and a half out of ten but
05:35she's such a
05:36prolific bloomer and she always has these scented ones going on and they're actually quite fragrant
05:43so i'll allow her to sneak up into the s category even though she's probably more in between but we'll
05:52allow her that walton old hall is definitely um an s category simply because it's a nine out of ten
06:00it
06:00has a really strong mer fragrance and it's also so special in its looks with these more copped blooms
06:10they can get almost completely like a ball when you look at them really wonderful little rose just
06:16for the look and you can also grow this one as a climber monstead wood again it lives up to
06:23a nine
06:23out of ten rating sometimes i have had a bit of problems with mine like sometimes it's only an eight
06:33an eight and a half so yeah again it's one of those that can go in between um i actually
06:43think i'll move
06:44it down a spot because it's not as reliable as some of the others bosco bell again i really love
06:52bosco bell
06:53it's no secret it's only seven and a half out of ten but it's a really tropical scented it has
07:01this
07:01alimony a really fruity tropical scent like no other rose except uh tropicana let's just do tropicana
07:10if i can find her here yeah tropicana now the difference between bosco bell and tropicana they
07:15both have this fruity tropical scent bosco bell is just much more healthy and has a more cup flower
07:23shape and more bushy look while um tropicana is much more tea hybrid fewer leaves more
07:32point pointy flower but it's also not as healthy as i said before as bosco bell so my favorite of
07:38the
07:38two is most definitely bosco bell next one is a goethe or pure poetry this one is really easy for
07:48me
07:48because it's a clear 10 out of 10 um it is it was the first 10 out of 10 i
07:55found and ever since that i
07:57have always charged a 10 out of 10 cent on that what do i mean by 10 out of 10
08:03cent i mean something
08:04you can leave in a waste and when you return to the room a few hours later the room smells
08:09of the
08:10rose i send it like the rose while a nine rose is much more in between you can you can
08:17send it if
08:18you're sitting at the table and the rose is in a pot next to you but it doesn't really spread
08:24out
08:24throughout the room and that the eight roses you often have to have your nose in the rose and get
08:32close
08:32to the rose but the descent is exactly just as pleasant as the 10 out of 10 the difference is
08:38just um how strong they are in the scent next one is grafen von hardenberg and it's also an 8
08:47out of 10
08:48really pleasant old roses and just like monster the wood just a much more as cop flower is very very
08:57how to say it's shallow cupped so it can sometimes look like those are what you call in danish we
09:03call
09:04moranunkel um these really shallow cupped flowers next up you have pacific blue pacific blue is a wonderful
09:15rose because it has this lavender bluish violet color to it it's a in my opinion it's between an eight
09:25and
09:25eight and a half on fragrance uh but a really good rose on fragrance and if you're after that color
09:30you also have something like um i think all the siblings to it that looks kind of similar like
09:36nova lee's love song and uh what's the last one called um there's one more starting with an n i
09:45believe
09:45but yeah all those are not fragrant but pacific blue is really fragrant so can sometimes need a bit of
09:52sheltering the first year uh from the the cold but really good rose next up we have a historic rose
10:00competition board it is one of my favorite historic roses it's also an eight out of ten for me um
10:08it's really good if you want to create more of a bush um this old historic bush kind of style
10:17it's really good for that and next up we have roasty rich roasty register is also an historic rose it's
10:24only a seven and a half out of ten for me so maybe i should go down on the spot
10:31but i feel even though
10:33it's not the strongest in fragrance it's still worth growing because it has some damask in it it has some
10:41um what's it called gallica so it has these two uh perfume families kind of running in the same line
10:48so even though it's only a seven and a half out of ten for me it's still a really pleasant
10:53smell and
10:54totally worth growing simply because it's one of the best historic roses there is so i'm kind of torn
10:59it's probably something that should be like this in the middle of between the two categories i'll move her
11:04down the spot so next one is madame isaac peary um yeah this one is a nine out of ten
11:13for me uh really
11:15fragrant on some days she's only an eight but um she's a really good rose if you want to grow
11:20an old
11:21fragrant uh historic rose as a climber next one is a madame hardy madame hardy has the very typical alba
11:32smell and alba look um she's not really a 10 or nine she's like a an eight for me but
11:42um she only
11:44blooms once but she has this really unique look where she has this green bottom center she also gets
11:50quite big so you can't grow her everywhere she's like a two meter plant that can quickly grow to two
11:56two two times two a really big plant so yeah next one is luso deer luso deer it's also like
12:04an eight
12:04for me and another historic rose um she's really good as a short obelisk i don't really believe you
12:11should grow her as a bush but she has an eight out of ten fragrance also really good
12:17and yeah here we have uh blackberry nib oh i love blackberry nib um
12:22um it's a rose from new zealand and you can get it in a lot of places at least here
12:27in europe
12:29but i think so many people are sleeping on this plant because this plant has a strongest fragrance
12:35as good the only difference is blackberry nib is much smaller it grows to like uh 50 to 60 centimeters
12:44and it has a much more uh t-hybrid shape it's much more pointy than good but the color is
12:50about the same
12:52but blackberry nib is simply so centered it's just as centered as good it's about a 10 out of 10
12:57for me
12:59so it's it's so centered i don't know why it's um has escaped the attention of so many people for
13:07so
13:07long really centered rows and then while you can grow good more at the back you can actually get away
13:14with growing your blackberry nib more at the front or at least in the second row from the front so
13:20it's
13:21really good for that and a really healthy rose too and the next one is a princess chalene de monaco
13:29i simply love this rose it's uh one of my most favorite fragrant roses simply because of how it also
13:37looks it goes through these really beautiful color changes from more like a light pink to apricot to it's
13:46it's kind of like bosco bell bosco bell can also do a whole uh color transformation and um princess
13:53chalene de monaco is also like that and then there's the fringes along the edges of the petals that makes
14:00her look just so unique and so um so wonderful for me she's a nine out of ten uh really
14:06fragrant really
14:07good rose and she's also really cold hearty like the only bad thing i can say about princess chalene de
14:14monaco is she grows a bit in in height she wants to grow up to be a more tall rose
14:20but
14:21honestly considering all the other good things about her and the fact you can just place her
14:26more at the back i believe she's a wonderful rose and she's in my top three of favorite french roses
14:35so in my opinion you should simply grow her and don't let the fact she's a french rose um
14:44make you scared because i think she's rated to a hardness zone of about four so she is extremely
14:51hardy just as hardy as some of the historic roses um yeah next up we have uh chander's beauty
15:00chander's beauty is actually my mom's favorite rose and uh i can see what my mom loves in it uh
15:08the rose has also grown in to be one of my favorite roses and even though it's only an eight
15:13and a half
15:14out of ten i'm going to place this one into s tier um what i really like about it is
15:20um it's light pink
15:21but it also has this kind of flashy tone to it that makes it kind of translucent and it's one
15:28of the
15:28roses that just catches your eye in the garden with this translucent um pink flesh color and a
15:36wonderful scent eight and a half out of ten not as strong as but really wonderful really pleasant
15:41but one thing i also like about it is it's so healthy and it's wants to bloom a lot for
15:47you mine
15:47last year bloomed all the way until uh the frost really came so extremely healthy rose and uh very
15:54prolific bloomer also i really like this one and i have um both grown it in my dad's garden and
16:01recommended it to a lot of people and they've been really satisfied with it so and next up here we
16:08have
16:09mom in a million now i'm a dane myself a danish person and um i kid you not i actually
16:17think this
16:17is the most scented rose in denmark uh so and um you can't go wrong with mom in a million
16:25it's like
16:26nine out of ten uh so it's part of the renaissance series by paulsen um not a lot of people
16:34know danish
16:35roses but most of you have probably bought these little supermarket uh roses in parts and it'll probably
16:43surprise you denmark actually produces more roses than um england does denmark produces over 50 million
16:50roses a year on license and most of it is from paulsen roses who make these pot roses so denmark
16:58actually has an extreme high production of roses but mom in a million is like a nine out of ten
17:03for me
17:04it's a really good fragrant rose next one is an american rose it's mr lincoln mr lincoln is
17:13again a nine out of ten and sand i simply adore this rose it's a really good red rose for
17:18cutting
17:19also um the only negative thing i'll say about mr lincoln is you can be a bit um more sensitive
17:27to
17:27freezing it's a rose you have to be more careful of in the colder climates because um until it gets
17:34established there's a bit more cold sensitive and i have had a one or two of these die before it
17:41was
17:41established simply because of uh it didn't like the minus 15c we have here in denmark sometimes
17:49so place this one more sheltered more close to a house or something and next up we have margaret
17:56merrill margaret merrill is a wonderful rose it's from harkness the same who bred um
18:03as shander's beauty and um i really uh like it because it's it has about the same strength of
18:13smell as our center shander's beauty but it has this really dark leaves and really crinkled white blooms
18:22and it just looks wonderful like a lot of pictures you see of it and um on the internet on
18:29google it
18:29it simply doesn't do it justice but i can only rate it like eight eight and a half on fragrance
18:35so
18:35maybe it's one of those again maybe in the middle between here but uh we'll put it down here it's
18:42a
18:42really good rose though and next up we have claire renaissance claire renaissance is another danish
18:49rose from the renaissance collection just like mom in a million it looks kind of similar to shander's beauty
18:55in these fleshy colors the difference is well shander's beauty is more than eight eight and a
19:02half uh claire renaissance is like a seven seven and a half another difference is claire renaissance is
19:08much taller in growth habit like it wants to grow more upright where shander's beauty grows more into
19:17this small uh small 50 to 60 centimeters rose if you cut her down but yeah but claire renaissance has
19:28the same translucent quality where you just spot the rose right away in the garden and next up we have
19:35um corder's rose graphing jan i have tried to like graphing jan for so long it's like a seven and
19:44a half if
19:44i'm generous eight uh on sand but the reason i'm placing it low is because i have a problem with
19:52um
19:53the bots developing very slowly like they're so long in the bot that sometimes a lot of things can go
20:00wrong
20:00with it and um it's sadly something i have been suffered a bit with uh suffering a bit from with
20:08cadets roses is that the buds on cadets roses are simply so slow to develop um but i'm hoping as
20:17it
20:17ages mine is only three years now i'm hoping as it ages that the problem will go away because it
20:24looks
20:24really pretty and i really want to like it i just don't fully like the the budding face of it
20:30and i
20:30don't fully like the health of it so far so next up is a fragrant art fragrant art is also
20:39one of those
20:39that should be placed around an eight on the list it's a decently fragrant rose and yeah nothing wrong
20:47with it it's um a bit more um how to say it it's easier to freeze it's not as cold
20:56hardy as another french
20:57rose like um princess chelene de monaco you should treat this one more carefully uh shelter it more
21:06because um it struggles already at minus 15c and by two minus 20c you have probably lost your plant so
21:14treat this one a bit like mr lincoln place it more sheltered um but yeah besides that i think um
21:25this was the list maybe i'll move graph indiana up here and um but just be careful uh with the
21:32fact
21:33as i said about uh the bots and the health on this one i'm really hoping it does better for
21:38me in the
21:39future because i like red roses so but yeah this was really just me wanting to um create a list
21:49for you
21:49uh about the 2024 roses i i tried in my garden um i tried about 200 roses last year and
21:57have another 200
21:59being tried this year so i'm really hoping to find something that the beats the nine and tens on this
22:06list um but it'll probably be hard but let me tell you when i look at a lot of rose
22:12review videos and a lot of
22:14oil places i see a lot of roses i wouldn't even rank four or six and when i go into
22:20a lot of plant
22:21nurseries and they tell me something is really fragrant i'm i simply have to say it's not fragrant
22:26um to my standard so i have a really high standard of fragrance because i grow these nearly 400 fragrant
22:33roses and these are what i have found to be best for me to grow for fragrance um if i
22:42had to recommend
22:43some of them on this list it would i'll just make it a bit bigger here so you can see
22:51the list better
22:54and we'll just do away with our search engine yeah if i had to recommend some for you it would
23:01definitely be good and blackberry nip those are clear 10 out of 10 and then i recommend the princess
23:07chelene de monaco and i'd recommend um shander's beauty and get through jackal um getter jiggle is
23:15a really good climber post wife is also worth growing um maybe just buy one and put it in a
23:22part
23:22and see if you like the growth habit of it because it does twirl a bit mr lincoln more of
23:28a warm climates
23:29uh i would say uh and then you have mom in a million um i really like mom in a
23:35million it gets a
23:36bit taller you should expect this bush to go into between 80 centimeters to 120 centimeters so don't
23:43place it like a really low growing rose you should probably place it in the middle to uh more of
23:50the
23:51yeah later end of the bed i'll say but you can't really go wrong with anything up here in this
23:57ranking
23:58when it comes to fragrance and even these down here and um a ranking is um i would say they're
24:06much stronger fragrant than some people's s ranking so it is just me being extremely critical and i'm
24:13allowed to be because i have so many roses so and then the b ranking they're still worth growing don't
24:20hold that against them that there's more you're just starting to go down into the more curiosity zone
24:27here so but yeah definitely try giving a goethe and blackberry neighbor grow if you like um these more
24:35uh violet roses and if you like these pink roses princess chaline de monaco and chandler's beauty should
24:42definitely be on your list so and that was really it from me today and um i'll as always i
24:52have so many
24:53roses i'm growing that i think this year you'll get so many reviews from me so if you like that

25:18see how my kodes roses perform this year before giving my final opinion i often grow like
25:2630 to 50 roses from each breather and um besides that i also have some serbian roses i'm trying to
25:34grow
25:34so a lot of fun roses and i'm sure the ranking list will change here in 2025 um but feel
