00:00Hey guys, it's me Anne and this is Beauty With Me.
00:02I have been working at Refinery29 for almost three years now and I have accumulated a lot
00:08of stuff on my desk.
00:10I can barely put my feet under the desk, I'll end up kicking bags under it, but I'm actually
00:15moving desks so I thought it would be a good opportunity to declutter, reorganize it, and
00:21also kind of create a really streamlined makeup storage for me.
00:25I think that even if you don't have a job like mine, the setup that I'm about to show
00:30you could actually be really useful if you're looking for ideas on how to organize your makeup
00:34or if you want some sort of desk vanity situation.
00:37So before we get started, please make sure you are subscribed down below.
00:41Beauty With Me comes out every Monday at 11am and I guess I have to show you my desk now.
00:48My desk is in a pretty bad place.
00:52I had bags of stuff under my desk, things that I was keeping for random reasons.
00:59Shirts, scarves, umbrellas, a couple pairs of shoes, some Dayquil.
01:06So here are my drawers.
01:09I have three and I have random things like candles in them.
01:13Ooh, a little cat!
01:15I went through all of that stuff and that takes us to step one.
01:20Step one, if you don't love it, let it go.
01:24I went through every single thing and I put all my product and all my things into different
01:29sections.
01:30Office supplies, pens, papers, product that I'm going to put into my daily use section,
01:37my everyday foundation, the eczema cream that I use every day, my hand creams, my lip balms.
01:42Then there's a section that I wanted to put into my future little beauty cubby.
01:46Things that I need to keep on hand for videos.
01:48Lipsticks that I love but I don't necessarily use every single day.
01:51The trash section of product that's just like old, expired, broken.
01:56There were a few products that were just leaking.
01:59I'm going to be bringing these two bins back up to my desk.
02:02That's going on the giveaway section of our office and then this stuff I'm bringing home
02:07because I should have brought them back home a long time ago.
02:10There was like six bins of stuff just on my one desk.
02:13I whittled that all down to two.
02:15I mean, I'm pretty proud of myself.
02:18I did bring a lot of my like decor stuff because I love having friendly things around my desk.
02:24And then we started organizing.
02:26And that brings us to step two, reorganize.
02:30Alright guys, so this is my new desk.
02:34I didn't want to just take my stuff and put it under my desk and into my drawers
02:38and end up in the same situation in three or four months.
02:41Oh, another shirt.
02:45So I found items that I could use to organize and keep things together.
02:51Make sure that every item that I have has a place on my desk.
02:55Poppin' was nice enough to send over some desk organization supplies for me.
02:59The first of which was this really nice monitor stand.
03:02It kind of creates a cubby that I can put my computer under.
03:05I can put my lip balms and everyday things on it, my camera on it.
03:09And then any like little cords like my phone charger underneath it as well.
03:13It also elevates my computer.
03:15Poppin' also sent over little cups and trays, a stapler and a tape dispenser.
03:22They also sent me a really cool like file organizer.
03:25I'm going to use the back two for some of my favorite eyeshadow palettes.
03:30So I have my Natasha Denona palettes in there and I'll probably add a few more palettes in there as
03:34well.
03:35Then I also got some stuff from Muji.
03:37They sent me this really cool like two tier shelf unit.
03:41So I wanted to have an actual designated area on my desk that I'm seeing every single day of things
03:47that I want to try and make a point to try.
03:49So I used the first level of the shelf for all the things that are on my list to try.
03:53And then the second level, I put all my brushes and my perfumes there.
03:57Muji also sent me scissors.
03:59I know scissors are so boring, but Muji has these scissors.
04:03They're like resistant to tape or something.
04:05Like I do a lot of like opening of packages and they always have tape on them and tape gets
04:09on my scissors.
04:10So hopefully these won't do that.
04:12So that brings me to my drawers.
04:14So I have three drawers.
04:16In the bottom drawer, I organized my feminine hygiene products down there as well as my computer charger, phone chargers,
04:23lightning cable, etc.
04:24And then I got a little bin dedicated to my snacks.
04:28Now in my old desk, I had a drawer that basically just became my dump drawer of random snacks that
04:36I would get.
04:36Now I have a basket that I'm going to keep contained just with my snacks.
04:41Then I have in the second drawer all my office supplies.
04:44So extra business cards.
04:45I actually put a few of my business cards into this really cute business card holder that Poppin gave me.
04:51I have random little knickknacks like paper clips, that sort of thing.
04:55My extra notebooks and my stationery.
04:58And then in the first drawer, it's just like my everyday stuff I don't want to display on my desk.
05:03And then that brings me to the main event, the makeup organization unit.
05:08It's done.
05:09I only messed up one time and had to redo it.
05:13And it fits perfectly under my desk.
05:20Boom.
05:21Mago, my producer, had a brilliant idea that instead of keeping random bags full of under my desk,
05:28we could have a little filing system.
05:30So we found one online.
05:31Some of the reviews were like, this is great for Legos and stuff like that.
05:35But I'm using it for makeup.
05:36And I divided that into foundations and bases.
05:40Bronzer blush highlighter.
05:42Eye products.
05:43Lip products.
05:44Nail and hair.
05:46Little bits.
05:47And then the extra.
05:48So that's just like things that are on my list to try but they're not as pressing.
05:52Like extra product that I want to use down the line.
05:55TBD on what's going to go in here honestly.
05:57There's a lot of room here to do other things with.
06:01So I'll probably like adapt this as I go.
06:04So that is my filing system.
06:05I actually think it would be a great, great, great system for anyone who has like a desk at home.
06:10But you also want to turn it into a desk slash vanity.
06:12And I'm really, really happy with it.
06:14But step three is keep it that way.
06:18I really need to hold myself accountable to keeping my desk in a good space.
06:24I think that I'm really glad that I really went through all my stuff and purge.
06:28It's really embarrassing how many like broken and expired things I had.
06:33What I like about the system that we did is that everything has its place.
06:36But there's still extra space as I get more stuff throughout the year.
06:40I'm very, very, very happy with it.
