00:10Today I have a somewhat crazy product to test out.
00:14I know that I say that pretty much every single time I do a video,
00:17but this one is truly weird.
00:20It is called the Farmer Maker Duracell Face Shield Patch.
00:24It is a K-Beauty product. I bought it on Amazon.
00:27It costs around 25 bucks, but there are different sellers of this,
00:31so you can get it for different prices.
00:32It's basically supposed to create a protective layer on your skin,
00:36sort of like a primer that acts as a protective layer between your skin and your makeup.
00:41I'm going to be honest, I don't have very high hopes.
00:44I've seen this online.
00:45It kind of looks like, you know when you're a kid and you used to put Elmer's glue on the
00:48palm of your hand
00:49and then like peel it off?
00:52That's what I feel like this product is going to look like.
00:54Let's see. Directions.
00:55Facial patch that protects the face from direct contact with makeup and pollutants
00:59by covering the skin with a transparent protective film.
01:03That's not a direction.
01:05Squeezing it out.
01:09It's like rolling down my skin.
01:12Alright, so I'm going to touch it.
01:13It feels really sticky.
01:16Smoothing it on.
01:17It actually smooths on and just feels kind of like a gel moisturizer.
01:22So I am smoothing this on and not rubbing because I have a feeling with primers and products like this,
01:29because if you rub they'll start to peel.
01:31It like already is.

01:39Peeling so much.
01:40I'm just going to go with the swipe on and don't touch it approach.

01:52Alright, so I think I'm going to stop there because I put the shield over my entire face at this

01:58My hands feel really sticky.
02:00So prior to doing this experiment, I actually chatted with Dr. Joshua Zeichner.
02:06He's a dermatologist here in New York and he works at Mount Sinai.
02:10So I wanted to get his two cents on this product.
02:14He was like, makeup is not great for your skin.
02:16You have to remove it at the end of the day.
02:18And something like this could help keep it out of your pores,
02:21but it could end up irritating your skin even further.
02:24I kind of anticipated that it would feel very tight and dry,
02:26but it just kind of feels like I have, there's like stuff on my face.
02:29I am going to put my makeup on over it and we'll see if it works.
02:33I actually have this NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation,
02:37which is one that I've reviewed in a video on this channel before.
02:40It's starting to peel a little bit around my mouth.
02:43When I scrunch my face, you can see it like, like ugh.
02:47I'm curious to see if any of you guys have tried this and really like it.

02:52because I really don't like the way that the foundation is applying over this.
02:57I see it peeling already around my mouth.

03:42So I'm just going to finish off the face with some highlighter.
03:45This is a really gorgeous one.
03:46This is the Marc Jacobs coconut gel highlighter.
03:49It's so pretty.
03:51But I don't think it's pretty enough to distract from my flaky face.

04:00I'm going to put my eyes and my lips on and then we'll chat about this.

04:07I think this is the worst my makeup has ever looked.
04:11I mean, I've only been wearing this face patch for like 20 or 30 minutes.
04:15And as soon as I even started to apply it, it started peeling.
04:19So I don't know.
04:19Am I doing it wrong?

04:24I feel like instead of marketing it as a makeup protection product,
04:29I think that I could actually see it working as almost like a liquid version of those pimple patches.
04:36So maybe I'll try that and see how that works.
04:38But as a face shield for makeup, no.
04:44So I'm going to wear this for a couple of hours to see how it wears.

05:12Not even a crazy like involved meal.
05:14And with every bite, it peeled more and more and more.
05:19So I'm going to start taking this off now because it's very uncomfortable.
05:21I'm just going to go for the obvious piece.
05:25It's kind of satisfying like vodka.
05:28I have a feeling this is going to be hard to take off.
05:30It's like not going to come off evenly at all.

05:43This is just a lot more work than just wearing normal makeup and taking it off with a cleansing oil
05:49or something.

05:59Going in with a wipe because I don't think there's really much else that can be done peeling wise.
06:05So this stuff is supposed to keep your pores from getting clogged, but I actually almost feel more worried that
06:14my skin is getting irritated and clogged just because it's so difficult to remove.
06:20So makeup is off.
06:22Here's everything that I was able to peel off my face.
06:27We will see tomorrow how this product works as just a spot treatment on its own on blemishes.

06:36It is the morning after my Drexel face patch mishap.
06:41I feel like small layers of this will actually be all right.
06:43I'm a little worried about how makeup will layer over it.
06:47I'm going to avoid putting it around my mouth where my face moves a lot and just focus on the
06:52pimples on my cheeks, my chin and forehead.
06:59So in the areas where I didn't put the Drexel face patch, I can still buff, but in the areas
07:07that I did put it on, I am stippling.
07:10I think that worked all right.
07:12It didn't seem to come off in any areas while I was putting it on, so that's promising.
07:18I'm just going to take a little closer look.
07:20You can see a little bit of it lifting here, but over here where I put it on, it actually
07:24looks really smooth.

07:58I've been wearing the Drexel face patch for the entire workday on various spots.
08:04And I also walked through a storm to get home through wind and sleet and rain.
08:10Right here you can sort of see it lifting a little bit here.
08:13On my nose it looks alright.
08:16On my chin and jawline is where things got a little hairy.
08:20I had to straight up peel an entire section off because it was flaking off and it was hideous.
08:26So on my chin and on my jawline I did that and you can sort of see there, here, you
08:30can see some of the peeling.
08:32It just kind of looks like skin to be honest.
08:34If you put this on and you have blemishes along your jawline or your smile lines or anywhere where your
08:40face moves a lot,
08:41it's going to peel off, it's going to look really bad, but from the chin up I think my skin
08:48looks great.
08:49A peel that's supposed to keep, you know, makeup out of your pores and off of your blemishes in theory
08:54could be helpful,
08:55but I would say it's no go.
