00:00All right, into the Northeast. It's all about change this week, but we have the same old story one more
00:05time before we see the change waking up to a frost or a freeze tomorrow morning for everybody highlighted in
00:11pink here with how much we've been talking about these the last couple of weeks. Hopefully, you know the drill
00:16by now, but your reminders just in case not any plants outside that have survived this long and you want
00:22them to stay that way. Cover them up, bring them inside. Better yet, hopefully you have not started planting yet.
00:29And for everybody else, the heavier jacket might be the way to go on the way out the door. Hopefully
00:34you haven't put it away just yet, but good news. We do have a warm up coming. Our long range
00:38team thinks this could be the last foster freeze that we see. So you can put the heavier jacket away
00:43soon. By the time we get to our high temperatures tomorrow along the coast, we're looking good at 66 in
00:48New York, 70 for DC, but we have the rain in Chicago along with those 70 that 73 degree high
00:5458 in Buffalo. And we could see some strong
00:58severe storms here. It's not going to be anything super widespread, but some spotty storms are going to have damaging
01:05wind gusts up to 75 miles an hour. And we could see some hail as well. So just a heads
01:10up from Madison, Wisconsin, Grand Rapids all the way down south of St. Louis and into central Missouri here. We're
01:17going to see some problems. Then that system works its way to the east. I hope you have the umbrella
01:23and the rain jacket handy in the northeast because you're going to need it, especially the way that this storm
01:27is going to linger.
01:28So Wednesday and Thursday, it moves in. By Friday, New England, you are still stuck with the showers, the positioning
01:35of the core of our storm system, that area of low pressure. It is parked right over the northeast as
01:41the system moves through. So we get round after round of the rain. Take a look at future radar to
01:47give you a better idea of what I'm talking about here. So the rest of this evening, a few spotty
01:51showers here to deal with. The northeast is dry tomorrow morning, but we already have some of the downpours
01:57showers into that area I was talking about for a severe weather risk. So right off the bat, you're going
02:03to need the umbrella, the rain jacket, the windshield wipers as you're heading into work or school. By the time
02:08we get to the overnight hours, we're into the Ohio Valley, we're into the northeast. We get our way to
02:12the coast, the I-95 corridor overnight. And by the time we're at Wednesday 9 a.m., we have some
02:18problems for your morning commute. New York State, Pennsylvania, even into New England, into New York City, rain could slow
02:24you down. But we get heavier downpours along the coast in the I-95 corridor,
02:27as we get later into Wednesday. So think evening, heading into the overnight hours. Continuing on here, this is what
02:35I'm talking about, that it just lingers because of where the core of that storm system is, especially for New
02:40England, as we head through Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening. So taking a look at your Wednesday overall, I mean,
02:46we all have the rain icons or the thunderstorms, temperatures in the 60s, the 70s. But here's the thing, you
02:53know what also comes with a storm system like this? A cold front.
02:56Our temperatures drop. The good news, it's brief this time. We love to see a graphic like this. As we
03:03head into mid-May, if you are tired of feeling like we are stuck in early March, early April, Sunday
03:10into next week, we have a more significant warmup. We finally get that ridge of high pressure that's going to
03:16raise our temperatures. Here's what that means for Pittsburgh. So Wednesday, you have the rain. There's that temperature drop I
03:22was talking about behind the cold front. 63 Wednesday to 55 Thursday.
03:26But it's short lived. Friday, we're back to the mid 60s. And then by Saturday, we're in the 70s. We're
03:31pushing 80 by the time we get to Sunday. And it sticks with us as we head into the new
03:36work week. So just hang on. You don't need the heavier jacket for too much longer.
