Temperatures will warm up nicely this Thursday, just in time for wet weather to come back.
Transcript
00:00The show's not over yet, and we have a mix of clouds and some sunshine.
00:03It was a bright afternoon in most areas, so again, jackets required there near the lakeshores,
00:10but otherwise a little warmer farther south.
00:12Current temps still struggling there in Buffalo, 33 degrees there, thanks to that chilly lake water.
00:17Meanwhile, to the south, still in the upper 50s in Louisville, Kentucky.
00:20This is about as warm as we've been all day today.
00:23Tomorrow's going to be a pretty decent day for most of us,
00:27and we're actually going to get warmer into Thursday.
00:30You can see some orange on the map, but you also see a lot of other colors.
00:33Showers and thunderstorms will begin to erupt,
00:35and this might be kind of reminiscent of what we experienced on Sunday in the northeast.
00:40A big warm-up, warmest in the interior, and then some late-day thunderstorms that could cause trouble.
00:46So some of those snow showers in Phillipsburg, PA, from yesterday in West Central Center County
00:50and eastern Clearfield County, just enough to lay a little dusting.
00:54We're not going to see any of that over the next two days,
00:56but maybe Friday there will be some snowflakes around for some.
00:59There will be some light snow way, way up in northern New England, up into the mountains
01:03and into the high peaks of the Adirondacks.
01:05Wednesday, you can see this next system mainly rain, some wet snowflakes up above 3,000 or 4,000 feet,
01:11and then this next system comes in Thursday in the morning, 10 a.m.
01:15This could be a little bit of a spoiler for some amid an otherwise very warm day.
01:20It might be one of these cases where this would locally subtract 4 or 5 degrees from your daytime highs
01:25with some clouds and decaying rain showers into D.C.
01:29But then the main event is late in the day, this evening complex of thunderstorms.
01:33This is 6 p.m. Eastern, 5 Central.
01:35Hopefully they're wrapped up there at Wrigley by then.
01:38First pitch for MLB action.
01:40We'll have showers and storms erupting into the mid-to-late evening for more and more of the crowd.
01:45I-70, Indianapolis to Columbus, look out, some hail and damaging wind potential.
01:49And then this rolls into the Virginias and southern parts of Kentucky into Friday.
01:54And a colder setup rolls back in from the north.
01:57So overall, this is the corridor of the most frequent overnight thunderstorms Thursday night into early Friday morning.
02:03I-70, north and south of there by maybe 100 miles.
02:07We'll have some ponding of water on the roads, locally damaging winds.
02:10And then as this sinks farther south, the thunderstorm threat comes down to a conclusion.
02:16But the rain lingers behind the front, south of the PA Turnpike.
02:19And Friday, look at this contrast.
02:21Still 73 with thunderstorms in Richmond.
02:23But we're back to 33 in Buffalo again, and Burlington.
02:27And back into the low to mid-40s in Pittsburgh, Detroit 41.
02:30So it's going to be a bit of a setback here for a lot of us.
02:32So it's going to be a bit of a setback here for a lot of us.
