As temperatures start to feel more like spring in the Northeast this weekend, wet weather will return.
Transcript
00:00It's starting to feel maybe a little bit more like spring.
00:02We're seeing some more sunshine, at least at times.
00:06Yeah, here's a great time lapse here from Billy Bowling.
00:09And I assume this is a time lapse.
00:12It may not be.
00:13Sometimes it might be real time.
00:15I'm not positive.
00:16I feel like we're not seeing enough change for it to be a time lapse.
00:20But maybe just that much isn't changing.
00:22The point is, the sun's peeking through the clouds.
00:25Yeah, it looks beautiful out there.
00:26That was earlier this morning.
00:27You can see some snow covering some of the mountains there.
00:29And just a really neat sky there.
00:32But overall, we're going to be dealing with a little bit more in the way of wind picking up here.
00:36And on Friday, showers, even some thunderstorms will break out in parts of Ohio and West Virginia tied to this
00:42fast-moving system.
00:43It's kind of taking the trajectory of a clipper racing in west-northwest to east-southeast.
00:49But it will bring some thunderstorms to some areas.
00:51Pittsburgh could see a gusty shower.
00:53Maybe a thunderstorm west of there.
00:55Detroit, warm, 60 degrees.
00:57Only 38, though, in Alpena, Michigan.
00:58So a big, tight temperature contrast.
01:00Along the boundary, the storm track basically separating the 30s with snow in Burlington from 70 degrees down there in
01:07Richmond, Virginia with some sunshine.
01:09And there will be some showers and thunderstorms here.
01:11We have a green map here.
01:13Central and southeast Ohio, northeast Kentucky, even the bluegrass region, much of west Virginia and southwest Pennsylvania.
01:18Gusty winds, small hail, and a few downpours.
01:21They may be nearly severe if they're not fully severe thunderstorms.
01:25And then into Saturday, storms, or that storm system, races offshore.
01:29Some lingering showers will be impacting the Long Island area and southern New England.
01:33But Sunday, another system comes in.
01:36This one comes in with just a little more firepower, a greater temperature contrast, very warm to the south, still
01:41cold to the north.
01:42And some thunderstorms will be a little more widespread with that one.
01:45So there is a risk for severe thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon in Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
01:51So here comes the Friday system.
01:53There are a few of these gusty little showers, maybe a thunderstorm there to the south, an area of rain
01:57in northern PA into upstate New York.
02:00That rolls southeast Friday evening, Friday night.
02:02Maybe a lingering thunderstorm down into parts of maybe Winchester, Virginia.
02:06And then that race is offshore with still some lingering showers in southeast New England Saturday morning.
02:11And then we get warmer again into Sunday.
02:14In between, still a little bit of snow up in northern New England.
02:18We never really break out into the warmth in New England, but we do get warm south of this.
02:22And this Sunday round will bring some stronger thunderstorms, possibly severe, from Louisville and Lexington all the way up into
02:28western Pennsylvania
02:29and northeast to Cleveland, Akron, and Canton, Ohio.
02:31So here we go.
