00:0585 in Pittsburgh, but man, it's hot there in Dallas. This is a tough time of the year there.
00:10100 degrees on the nose, and if you're looking for relief, head to Omaha.
00:15These recent showers have cooled you down to the mid-60s. That's a good place to be.
00:19But overall, gorgeous weather. Five-star weather in the northeast here, looking really, really nice.
00:24The problem area has certainly been southeast Virginia with downpours, drenching downpours,
00:32numerous flash flood warnings, a newer one being issued southwest of Petersburg.
00:36It's just been a tough day here from Richmond down to Petersburg along Interstate 95,
00:41even areas around the Hampton Roads on the south side of the James River.
00:44We're facing some flash flooding as well.
00:46And with all that in mind, there's the likelihood of some drenching downpours
00:52that will be pivoting north and breaking out late tonight and early tomorrow morning around Washington, D.C.
00:56So from Montgomery County, Maryland, all the way down to Fredericksburg,
01:00areas just southeast of Warrington, Remington, east into St. Charles,
01:05Bowie, Maryland, there on the southeastern part of Maryland,
01:08flood watch in effect for these areas.
01:10That includes Washington, D.C.
01:11Just beware of that tomorrow morning.
01:13You may want to leave some extra time in D.C.
01:15It's going to be real humid here, and the humidity begins to eke north as well as we step into
01:21Wednesday
01:21and eventually Thursday as well.
01:23That will increase the chance for thunderstorms across more and more real estate here in the northeast,
01:28including into Cleveland, Erie, Butler, PA, into Pittsburgh, Harrisburg,
01:34even New York City and Philadelphia tomorrow.
01:36But look out in the morning hours there in D.C.
01:37That's an area of concern.
01:39Tomorrow night, this is Wednesday night, additional thunderstorms begin to slide even farther north.
01:44So in the evening, Syracuse, I didn't want you to miss this.
01:47Our daytime forecast for Syracuse is generally dry, but tomorrow evening, Wednesday evening,
01:52storms push north to the Mohawk Valley, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, many areas from Philadelphia,
01:57down into Charlotte, scattered thunderstorms will be with us on our Wednesday evening and Wednesday night.
02:03So again, there it is, D.C. in the morning.
02:05Look out for that area.
02:06A lot of pavement.
02:07Doesn't take much to cause flash flooding there in D.C.
02:09And then into Wednesday afternoon, showers and storms pull farther north.
02:12They're going to be out there in many areas across the Midwest, the Northeast,
02:15and into the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast as well.
02:18Thursday, the humidity is going to be high enough that we're going to see storms in many areas,
02:21even north of Interstate 90, come Thursday.
02:25So this surge of moisture is going to be driving northward here around the fringe of the Bermuda-Azores High,
02:31increasing risk for flash flooding Thursday and Friday, two days with very similar maps.
02:37There's Thursday, there's Friday.
02:40The theme here, thunderstorms for most of us in the Northeast, and it's going to be warm and humid.
02:44In fact, overnight lows are going to be up given the high dew points.
02:48Warm and humid, classic early August weather here late this week.
