00:03It's such a great joy and privilege for all of us
00:06to have this blessed and beautiful morning
00:09to look ourself to praise God from the bottom of our hearts.
00:14Dear brothers and sisters, I hope that you're all doing well
00:18and I believe by faith that this morning meditations
00:21are truly being helpful for your spiritual growth
00:23to walk with the Lord Jesus Christ in your spiritual life.
00:28Let's pray.
00:30A loving Heavenly Father, the gracious God and the merciful Father,
00:35the protector of all our life and the provider of all our lives.
00:41Lord, we thank you for the blessed morning
00:44to study your word, to grow in grace and your word, Father.
00:49Lord, this morning as we prepare our hearts for your word,
00:52we ask and we seek your will, teach us your purpose for all of our life
00:58and give your word for us that we might grow with you, Father,
01:02and have the deepest knowledge of your word.
01:05In Jesus' name we ask and we pray.
01:07Amen.
01:10This morning, if you have your Bible with me,
01:13turn with me to the Gospel of Matthew chapter 27 and verse 29.
01:20And when they had planted a crown of thorns,
01:25they put it upon his head and read in his right hand
01:29and bowed the knee before him
01:32and mocked him saying,
01:34Hail, King of the Jews.
01:38This morning, we're going to study on the symbolism,
01:43the significance of the thorn in the Bible.
01:49The land of Palestine is a very beautiful land
01:53where valleys, the springs and the brooks of water
01:59and also the fountains of water,
02:02the beautiful fig trees and the olive,
02:06the pomegranate and also the grape vineyards.
02:11And it's also very beautiful,
02:14a precious and a plentiful land for the fruit season.
02:19And it also has rocks
02:22and it also has thorns
02:26in the land of Palestine.
02:30There are about 20 kind of trees
02:32that grow in the land of Palestine.
02:35And among the 20 kind of trees,
02:37there's one tree called Pallurospinichristi.
02:41And this is a thorn bush.
02:44And through this thorn plant,
02:47that they made a thorn of crown
02:50upon the head of Jesus Christ.
02:55Regarding about the crown of thorn
02:57upon the head of Jesus Christ,
02:59there is no prophecy in the Bible.
03:04And they just placed the crown of thorn
03:07on the head of Jesus because
03:10to scourge him,
03:13to mock him,
03:16the life and the man of Jesus Christ.
03:21This morning we're going to study
03:23on the topic of the thorn
03:25and its significance,
03:26what it represents in the Bible.
03:30Turn with me to the book of
03:31Genesis chapter 3
03:333 and verse 18.
03:36Thorns also and thistles
03:38shall it bring forth to thee,
03:41and thou shalt eat the herb
03:44of the field.
03:46The very first significance
03:48about thorn in the Bible,
03:51the thorn is a sign of
03:55curse.
03:57When God has created
03:58of all the whole universe
04:00in Genesis chapter 1,
04:02and the Lord said
04:04it was good in his eyes,
04:06in his sight.
04:08And the Lord said,
04:09let it be done,
04:10let it be created.
04:11And everything was
04:12proceeded out from his mouth
04:13and everything was being made up.
04:15Everything was created by the word
04:17that proceeded out of his mouth.
04:20And the thing what was happening
04:22is the Lord had commanded
04:23Adam and Eve
04:24to eat all the fruits
04:26of the tree in the garden,
04:28except the tree that
04:29they should not eat
04:31of that fruit.
04:36But Adam and Eve
04:37they disobeyed the will
04:38and the commandment of God,
04:40and they ate the fruit of the tree
04:42at which they should not eat.
04:44They had fallen in sin,
04:46and sin had led them
04:47to the life of curse.
04:50In Genesis chapter 1
04:51and verse 26,
04:52and the Lord said,
04:53be fruitful and multiply
04:54and replenish the earth.
04:55This is the blessing of God
04:57for Adam and Eve.
04:59But coming back
05:00to Genesis chapter 3,
05:01beginning with verse 15 on,
05:03we will find that God
05:04has cursed Adam and Eve
05:06because of their disobedience.
05:08And their disobedience
05:10led them to sin,
05:11and their sin had led them
05:12to the consequences
05:13of curse in their life.
05:16And before that,
05:17that God had made up
05:19everything good
05:20in a right and proper manner.
05:23But when Adam and Eve,
05:25when they have did sin
05:26in the sight of the Lord,
05:27and the Lord cursed the ground,
05:30and then the Lord said,
05:31thorns and thistles
05:33shall it bring forth to you.
05:37Remember,
05:37dear brothers and sisters,
05:39the thorn in the Bible
05:40is a sign of curse.
05:44That Adam and Eve
05:46who had the blessing of God
05:47in their life,
05:48but they changed
05:49and turned their blessing
05:50into a curse
05:52because of their sin
05:54and the curse that they had,
05:56the thorns and thistles
05:57came out of the ground.
06:01Remember that Jesus Christ
06:03has oared the crown of thorns
06:06on His head,
06:08which signifies,
06:10which teaches us
06:10that He had took away
06:13our curse
06:15on Him
06:16and He had received
06:18the crown of thorns
06:20on His head.
06:22Remember, dear brothers and sisters,
06:24God has called us
06:25to be a blessing.
06:26He made us a blessing,
06:28but we have changed our life
06:29and turned ourselves
06:30from blessing
06:31into curse.
06:33But again,
06:34through the great sacrifice
06:36and through again
06:37the great redemption work,
06:39through again
06:40that Jesus Christ
06:41or the crown of thorns
06:44on His head,
06:45that He had changed
06:46our life from sorrow
06:48and from curse
06:51into a sweetness
06:53and blessed life.
06:56That's what Jesus said
06:57and that's what Paul said
07:00and that's what also Peter said,
07:02that God has called us
07:04to be a blessing
07:05not to be a curse.
07:08Once we are cursed,
07:10but Jesus Christ
07:11has made us a blessing
07:13that our life
07:14might be a blessing
07:15to as many as people.
07:19The thorn is a sign
07:20of curse.
07:21Jesus wore the crown
07:24of thorn on His head
07:25which resembles
07:26He took all away
07:27our colors
07:28on Him.
07:30The second thing
07:31is we find
07:32in 2 Corinthians
07:34chapter 12
07:35and verse 7.
07:38In this passage
07:39that Apostle Paul
07:41was praying to God.
07:43What was his prayer?
07:46At least I should be exalted
07:48above measure.
07:50Through the abundance
07:52of the revelations
07:53there was given to me
07:54a thorn in the flesh.
07:57Number 2.
07:58The thorn in the Bible
08:00is a sign of
08:01sorrow
08:02and grief
08:04and affliction.
08:06This is a prayer
08:07a request
08:10of Apostle Paul
08:12to God.
08:13God,
08:14there was a thorn
08:15in my flesh
08:16that I should not boast.
08:18Let me introduce you.
08:19Paul is very weak
08:20in his physical body.
08:22He had a weakness
08:23of blindness.
08:25He also had a weakness.
08:26his body
08:27has become too weak
08:29because there was
08:30many a times
08:30that he was being beaten.
08:32He was being mocked.
08:33He was being cursed.
08:34He was received
08:35the lashes.
08:36And because of all
08:38this kind of
08:39torment
08:39that he had undergone
08:40in his life
08:41his body
08:42became weak.
08:45Now he is praying
08:46to God,
08:47God that there is
08:48a thorn in my flesh
08:50it was afflicted me
08:51every time.
08:54The thorn in the Bible
08:55is a sign of
08:56affliction.
08:57In the book of Isaiah
08:58chapter 53
08:59verse 4 and 5
09:00and chapter 63
09:02and verse 9
09:03the Bible says
09:04that Jesus Christ
09:05was
09:07experienced
09:08the ghani
09:09and affliction
09:11that we all have to go
09:12in all our life.
09:14This morning
09:15dear brothers and sisters
09:16if you are going
09:16through pains
09:18and a lot of struggles
09:20a lot of affliction
09:21and different kinds
09:23of things
09:23in your life
09:25the Lord is
09:26promising you today
09:28come unto me
09:30all that he labor
09:31and burden
09:33and I will give you
09:34rest.
09:35So God is speaking
09:37to us this morning
09:38that the Lord
09:39will give us
09:40peace and rest
09:42when we are able
09:43to come to him
09:44so that's the reason
09:46that Jesus wore
09:46up the crown
09:47of thorns
09:48on his head.
09:51Brothers
09:52and sisters
09:54the thorn in the Bible
09:55is a sign of curse.
09:57Jesus took away
09:58all our curse
09:59on him.
10:00He has given
10:01us a blessing
10:02through his
10:03great sacrifice.
10:05And the thorn
10:06in the Bible
10:07is a sign of affliction
10:08that Jesus took away
10:09all our affliction
10:10all our sorrows
10:11all our grief
10:12and all the things
10:13what we have to face
10:14and he has given
10:16us a peace
10:18and freedom
10:19by his great sacrifice
10:21on the cross
10:22of Calvary.
10:25Let us all walk
10:27in the footsteps
10:28of God.
10:29Let us all thank God
10:31for his great sacrifice
10:35and the redemption
10:39and for the crown
10:40of thorns
10:42that Jesus
10:43had received
10:44for all
10:45of our thorns.
10:46Let's pray.
10:48Heavenly Father
10:49we thank you
10:50for your word
10:50today.
10:52Lord thank you
10:53for blessing us.
10:55Thank you
10:56for changing
10:57of all of our life.
10:59Lord we praise you

11:19the thorn of corns

11:32words today.
11:34Bless us
11:35lead us
11:35and guide us.
11:37We humble ourselves
11:39we exalt your name.
11:42Bless us
11:42in each and everything
11:43that whatever
11:44that we are doing.
11:46Fill us
11:47by your spirit
11:47help us
11:48to see less
11:48of ourself
11:49and more
11:49of your spirit
11:50working in
11:50through our lives.
11:53Lord bless us
11:54and prepare us
11:54for tomorrow.
