00:12and to be transformed into the image of our Son, Lord Jesus Christ.

00:19Our loving Heavenly Father,
00:21we thank and we praise you for this blessed privilege
00:26to come before the throne of your grace.
00:29Precious Lord, this morning as we prepare our hearts for your living word,
00:34we understand by faith that you're God who speaks to our hearts.
00:39Lord, as we look forward for your word today,
00:43Lord, give the word what you desire to give to our hearts.
00:47Strengthen us.
00:48Teach us your will and your purpose that we all might obey to your word
00:52and walk in your commandments.

01:02I ask you to turn with me to the Gospel of John, chapter 13,
01:07beginning with verse 1 to verse 11.
01:11In this passage that Jesus Christ
01:14had washed the feet of his disciples.
01:18This morning we're going to study on why Jesus had washed the feet of his disciples.
01:25Swami Vivekananda.
01:28He just said regarding about Jesus in such a great way.
01:33If I was in the days of Jesus Christ,
01:37I would have washed his feet,
01:40not with my tears,
01:42not with the water,
01:44but I would wash his feet with the blood of my heart.
01:49He just said this way because
01:53he learned,
01:56he understood
01:58the humility of Jesus Christ
02:02by washing the feet of his 12 disciples.
02:07We're going to find out some reasons this morning
02:09why Jesus had washed the feet of his disciples.
02:13Turn with me to the Gospel of John, chapter 13,
02:17and verse 1.
02:20Having loved his own,
02:22which were in the world,
02:25he loved them unto the world.
02:28The very first reason Jesus washing the feet of his disciples is
02:31to testify his love
02:34towards his disciples.
02:38Remember,
02:39the love can make us to travel
02:40afar
02:41for the person whom we show our love.
02:46In the book of Genesis,
02:47there's a man whose name is called Jacob.
02:50He has loved a girl that is called Rachel.
02:53And he fell in love with the girl.
02:57And he served about 21 years
03:00to get a marry with Rachel.
03:03He was just a servant on his master, Laban.
03:07Love
03:08made him to move on forward
03:10and to serve for Rachel
03:11about 21 years.
03:15Just as the same way,
03:16the reason Jesus took up
03:18the water in a basin
03:19and he gridded
03:21with a towel
03:23and then he began to wash the feet of his disciples
03:27to show them
03:28how much he was loving them.
03:33And the Bible even says that Judas
03:35was also in the midst of the 12 disciples.
03:41He was not still yet
03:42moved with covetousness heart
03:45for the money.
03:47He was not yet
03:49kissed Jesus Christ
03:50and betrayed him
03:51and hand over him to the soldiers.
03:54But Judas was among the disciples
03:56of Jesus Christ.
03:57He was still
03:58when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.
04:01Jesus even washed the feet of his
04:04disciple of Judas Iscariot.
04:06Jesus knew that Judas
04:08will betray him with a kiss.
04:10Jesus knew that Judas
04:12will hand over him
04:13to the soldiers.
04:14But still,
04:15he showed up his love
04:17towards Jesus
04:20Iscariot.
04:21Dear brothers and dear sisters,
04:23this morning,
04:25Jesus had loved us
04:28though we don't deserve
04:29for his love.
04:31We are deserved for death.
04:33We are deserved to sin.
04:34We are deserved to slaves and bondage.
04:36We are deserved to hell.
04:37But Jesus has loved us
04:40and Jesus wants us
04:42that we also might love
04:44one to one another.
04:47You know the commandment
04:48what Jesus Christ
04:49has given to each one of us?
04:51Love your neighbor
04:52as have your love
04:53yourself.
04:56Even though the disciples
04:57of Jesus Christ,
04:58they were not a great people,
04:59they are not a peculiar people,
05:00they are not with
05:01a great intelligent
05:03or prominent people.
05:05They are unlearned.
05:07They are fishermen.
05:09But Jesus
05:10had washed the feet
05:11of his disciples
05:12to tell them
05:13how much
05:14his love
05:15is for them.
05:18The second reason is
05:22to teach them
05:24about the humility.
05:27Turn to John chapter 13
05:28and verse 5.
05:30He poureth water
05:32into a basin
05:33and began to wash
05:34the feet of his disciples
05:36and to wipe them
05:36with the towel
05:38wherewith
05:38he was girded.
05:42And here
05:43the Bible speaks
05:45that Jesus
05:46took the nature
05:47of a servant.
05:49In Jewish culture
05:50in the days
05:50of Jesus Christ,
05:51the servant
05:52used to bring up
05:53the water
05:54to the master
05:55and he used to wash.
05:58Jesus also
05:58took the water
05:59in a basin,
06:00he girded up
06:00with a towel
06:01and then he began
06:02to wipe
06:03and wash
06:03the feet
06:04of his disciples
06:05to teach them
06:06about what
06:07is humility.
06:10Why only
06:10to his disciples?
06:12Because at one
06:12point of a time
06:13all the twelve
06:14disciples have come
06:15to Jesus Christ
06:15and asked a question
06:16to Jesus.
06:17Jesus,
06:18who is the greatest
06:19in your kingdom?
06:21disciples were always
06:23seeking for
06:24wisdom
06:25and disciples
06:26were always
06:27seeking for
06:28prominent
06:29leadership.
06:31Disciples
06:32were always
06:32seeking for
06:33position
06:34in the heavenly
06:35kingdom of God.
06:36Then Jesus
06:37said,
06:38if you wanted
06:38to be a great,
06:39you must be
06:40a servant
06:41to your master.
06:44Jesus humbled
06:45himself
06:47and showed
06:47a lesson
06:48about humility
06:50to the people
06:51of his disciples.
06:54So this morning,
06:55dear brothers
06:56and sisters,
06:57we all need
06:58to humble
06:58ourselves.
07:00We are not
07:01greater than
07:01our Lord Jesus
07:02Christ,
07:02we are not
07:03greater than
07:03the Old Testament
07:04prophets,
07:04we are not
07:05greater than
07:05the Old Testament
07:06believers.
07:06We are nothing
07:07in our life,
07:08but God
07:09made us
07:09great.
07:10He has
07:11strengthened us
07:12to do
07:13many great
07:13things for
07:14His glory.
07:14By His
07:15strength,
07:15we are doing
07:15it.
07:16So we need
07:17to humble
07:18ourselves.
07:20Jesus took
07:20the nature
07:21of a human
07:21being,
07:22in the nature
07:23of a servant.
07:25He began
07:25to wash
07:26the feet
07:26of disciples
07:26and He
07:27was very
07:27obedient
07:28unto the
07:28death
07:28of His
07:28cross.
07:29He humbled
07:30Himself.
07:34The Bible
07:34says,
07:37Whosoever
07:37exalted
07:38himself shall
07:38be abased,
07:39whosoever
07:39humbleth
07:40himself shall
07:41be exalted.
07:43Jesus
07:44taught such
07:45a lesson
07:45to His
07:45disciples
07:46because they
07:46are always
07:47seeking for
07:47positions,
07:48a cadre
07:50in the
07:51heavenly
07:51kingdom

08:02reason is
