A unique wedding procession in Meerut has gone viral after a groom fulfilled his childhood dream by arriving on an elephant instead of a traditional horse or car.

The incident took place in Jamalpur village under the Inchauli police station area, where the groom, Ankit, led his baraat in royal style seated on an elephant. The rare spectacle drew large crowds from the village and nearby areas, with many gathering to witness the unusual procession.

According to locals, such a scene has been witnessed in the region after nearly 75 years. Earlier, in 1951, a similar elephant-led wedding procession was reportedly seen in the Lavad area.

Ankit, son of Kalu, said he had loved elephants since childhood and always dreamed of riding one on his wedding day. His family members, including his grandfather Gopichand, expressed excitement, stating that everyone enthusiastically participated in making the moment special.

The elephant was reportedly brought from Jaipur, Rajasthan, at a total cost of ₹2.6 lakh, including ₹1.6 lakh for the elephant and ₹1 lakh for transportation and related expenses.

Videos of the procession are now widely circulating on social media, making the wedding a major talking point in the region.
