00:00Hi there.
00:01Although we've seen a lot of cloud through the day, that cloud will break up in places
00:04overnight, especially towards the north and the east, as colder air arrives from the north
00:09behind this cold front.
00:12Now, as the winds come in from the north and this colder air arrives, there is the potential
00:17for a return to damaging frost across northern and eastern parts of the UK.
00:22But alongside the cold front, we've got a lot of clouds, so the frost won't affect
00:26everyone.
00:26In fact, western Scotland, parts of the Midlands, the south and south-west of England, Wales
00:31and Northern Ireland will keep mostly cloudy skies overnight, showers on and off, nothing
00:36especially heavy, but still some rain potential clearest towards the north-east.
00:42And with that cold air arriving, that's where temperatures will fall in main urban areas
00:46down to the low single figures in sheltered rural spots a degree or a few degrees below
00:52freezing.
00:52Now, we're talking about minus 3, minus 4 Celsius for parts of eastern Scotland, so
00:57the potential for a damaging frost.
00:59Gardeners and growers, beware of that, for the east and north of the UK.
01:03But that's where the brightest skies will be first thing Wednesday.
01:06Plenty of sunny spells and temperatures rising quickly through the morning as a result.
01:10We're going to see two areas of showers, though.
01:12One remaining across western Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, West Wales and the south-west.
01:17In fact, where winds come together along the south-west peninsula, there's a potential
01:21for parts of Cornwall to see a sharp shower or even some lingering downpours.
01:26Meanwhile, there will be another area of showers pushing into the east of England by the afternoon.
01:31A lot of cloud here.
01:32In between, dry with some bright spells, but tending to cloud over by the afternoon.
01:38Best of the sunshine in northern England, eastern Scotland.
01:40However, that's where it will be feeling coldest.
01:42All areas will have a drop in temperatures compared with Tuesday.
01:46But in some parts of northern UK, those temperatures won't even reach 10 Celsius.
01:51Later on on Wednesday, we'll see an area of low pressure swirl out towards the north-west
01:56of the UK, push more persistent rain into the north and west of Scotland.
02:01Some weather fronts move in here.
02:02We'll also see an extension of the showers across western parts of Britain, perhaps easing
02:07off across Northern Ireland.
02:08Staying dry through the Midlands, eastern and south-eastern England, meanwhile, overnight.
02:12And it's here where we could see another frost in places.
02:15A chilly start once again on Thursday morning.
02:17Less frosty for much of Scotland because of cloudier skies and an increased breeze.
02:22In fact, Thursday's a breezy day for the north and west of Scotland, with spells of
02:26rain moving in from the west and south-west.
02:29Now, for the rest of the country, showers remain, especially for the north and the west.
02:35Largely dry towards the south-east, but the winds a little more southerly by this stage.
02:40So a complete 180 in the wind direction.
02:42The winds aren't that strong, but it'll make a difference to the temperatures.
02:45It won't feel quite as chilly, especially towards the north of the UK where we're looking at
02:5012 or 13 Celsius as opposed to 9 or 10 degrees.
02:53Now, the showers in the west and across northern parts of the UK migrate eastwards through Friday.
02:59A slightly warmer day once again, but into the weekend it's going to remain very mixed.
03:04There will be rain and showers in places, but also some drier spells in between.
