00:00Welcome to your weekend weather update. Yes, it's a bank holiday. Yes, the weather is changing,
00:05but that doesn't mean it's going to rain all weekend. It just means we're going from a situation
00:10where the weather's kind of stable and pretty much the same across large parts of the country
00:14for most of the day to, well, a bit of a mess really. Weather will be changing through the day
00:19and there's going to be a lot of regional variation. This picture kind of sums up quite
00:24nicely. It is very messy across the UK. Nice chunky air of high pressure sitting well out to
00:30the east and another one out to the west. That's where all the fine sunny settled weather is.
00:34We are, well, as I say, in this messy mixture in the middle. The air is generally wafting up from
00:39the south. Friday, warm day and that warmth likely to trigger some heavy showers and we'll see more
00:44of those as we go through the weekend. But as is often the case with showers, it really is a
00:49case
00:49of where you catch them. There'll be a downpour, but not many miles away. It could be completely dry
00:54and many places may start dry on Saturday. We are looking at some showery rain drifting south
00:59across Scotland and Northern Ireland and at the same time, some warm and humid air still across
01:05Wales and southwest England providing some heavy showers here and then later the potential for
01:09some heavy showers to come into parts of the south. Say potential because there's still a bit
01:13of uncertainty about the track of the heavy showers coming across England and Wales. Much of eastern
01:19England may well stay dry and bright throughout the day and still quite warm here, maybe not as
01:23warm as Friday, but we could still, with a bit of hazy sunshine, get temperatures up into
01:2820 degrees Celsius. Elsewhere, temperatures will be lower, but still quite warm and humid
01:32for most of England and Wales, turning cooler and fresher across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:37maybe only 10 Celsius across Shetland, but maybe some bright or sunny spells here.
01:42The messy picture continues into Sunday. We do by this stage have low pressure sitting pretty
01:47much across England, still providing some outbreaks of heavy rain in places, even the odd
01:53thunderstorms still possible into Sunday morning. Where that rain and cloud is lying, it will be
01:57quite a cool day with a breeze coming in from the North Sea. Could be a little further north,
02:01could be a little further south, but certainly a zone over these central parts likely to be
02:06pretty soggy through the day with a brisk and chilly wind coming in from the North Sea.
02:10Further south, heavy showers. Again, some thunderstorms possible, but notice it's not raining
02:15everywhere. There will be some bright and sunny spells and the same goes for much of Scotland and Northern
02:19Ireland. Yes, a few showers possible here, but many areas, particularly over Northern Scotland,
02:23probably seeing some decent spells of sunshine. The cooler air, though, in place, so temperatures,
02:28particularly over parts of North East England, considerably lower on Sunday when compared to
02:33Saturday, but still in the south with a bit of brightness, we could see those temperatures
02:37getting close to 20 Celsius. But overall, things are cooling down as we go through the weekend.
02:42And Monday, the bank holiday Monday, probably the driest day of the three as a whole across
02:48England and Wales. Still a few showers in here, but not as many, certainly not as likely to see a
02:55thunderstorm on Monday as we are on Saturday and Sunday. A lot of dry weather here too.
02:59Some showery rain drifting south across Scotland and Northern Ireland, but again, some brightness,
03:03some sunny spells, but check out which way they're, the winds coming by this stage,
03:07bringing that cooler air down from the North. So temperatures could be really struggling across
03:11the far north of Scotland and elsewhere. We'll notice those temperatures continuing to dip off a
03:15little bit. But again, with a bit of brightness, we could see those temperatures close to average
03:19and maybe even into the high teens across parts of the south. So it is a messy mix this weekend.
