00:00Hello and welcome to the Met Office forecast for the weekend. Finally, finally, finally
00:05something different to talk about this weekend. Now, we're not going to see an end to the
00:11rain during the next week or so, but what we are going to see are more gaps in between
00:16weather systems. It's not going to be as relentless and the first gap comes along in the form
00:20of this ridge of high pressure as we begin Saturday morning. Under that ridge of high
00:25pressure, widely clear skies on Friday night will lead to the first widespread frost for
00:30some time. Many parts of the UK sub-zero as we begin Saturday. A crisp but bright start
00:37to the day. Widespread sunny skies first thing. A couple of exceptions. Some sleety showers
00:42will get blown onto the east coast of England early on and one or two showers will also
00:47affect parts of Pembrokeshire, North Wales. They'll fade away. Another showery feature
00:52will also affect the far north of the mainland of Scotland, pushing into Orkney and Shetland
00:56by lunchtime. But away from these showery areas, actually much of the UK is simply dry
01:02and bright. The best of the sunshine continuing into the afternoon across central and eastern
01:07areas, the sun turning more milky further west as some thicker cloud rolls in as we end
01:13the day. The breeze picking up as well. But despite the sunshine, it's actually going to
01:18feel a bit colder compared with recent days. Temperatures of four to six Celsius. However,
01:24with bright skies and light winds, well, perfectly pleasant, certainly compared with the relentless
01:30rain that many parts of the UK have seen recently. There's the cold air in place. The next weather
01:34system moves in. And of course, as that bumps into the cold air, there's always the chance
01:38of snow. Mostly northern hills, but not exclusively. And that wet weather during Saturday afternoon
01:45and evening. Soon enough pushes into Northern Ireland, reaches western Scotland by about
01:498pm. Parts of Wales and the southwest see that rain set in around 10pm. And so if you're
01:56heading out on Valentine's Day evening, be prepared for some wet weather in the west. Winds
02:01picking up as well. Gales around coastal locations. And it's going to feel unpleasant out there with
02:08a cold feel and some snow coming down mixed in with the rain on the leading edge, most especially
02:14over hills. And it's the hills, especially across Wales, Northern England, much of Scotland, where
02:20we'll see the deepest snow turn up overnight, risk of greatest disruption. Always the chance. You
02:28wouldn't rule out some patchy small amounts of snow at lower levels very briefly early Sunday. Much of
02:35this occurring during the hours of darkness, however, because temperatures will be rising from
02:40the west as the system moves through. So much of the snow eventually turning back to rain at
02:46lower levels. And for southern counties, certainly it's virtually all rain. Eight Celsius there
02:51in Cornwall, one or two for eastern parts of the UK as we begin Sunday. And this system does
02:58clear through, having left some snow over northern hills and patches at lower levels, which soon
03:03enough disappear. It's brightening skies then once more across many parts of the UK on Sunday
03:10morning. But frequent showers turning up from the west, some heavy downpours, even some rumbles
03:15of thunder, gusty winds as well. And that wind will feel cold because although technically it's
03:21a degree or two milder compared with Saturday, we've got stronger winds, we've got some heavy
03:27downpours to deal with. So an unpleasant afternoon, I suspect, if you're caught in those downpours.
03:33And not the day of rain after that, well, glimmer of hope that is Valentine's Day.
03:40That low pressure responsible moves through. And these systems are moving through finally.
03:45The block that has kept things so relentless across the UK is finally shifting a bit further
03:52east across Scandinavia into western Russia. And so finally, low pressure systems can squeeze
03:58past the UK. But there will be more low pressure systems on the way through next week. Some
04:04reasonably deep lows, so some wet and windy weather is expected. It's just that it's a little bit
04:10more typical winter weather for the UK, with wet and windy days followed by at least some drier
04:16wildly quick. And since the UK is in Australia, it's a little bit more into the UK in the UK.
04:16But then in the UK is a solace and it'll need to keep the Goods all over thegraders, that are
04:17طy内 into GB. But finally,
04:19of the UK. It's not tillóstone as it's an end. And our advice of the UK will be speaking of
