00:00This is actually the power rankings gathered by the rest of the NFL media and specifically brought us his guy
00:07Pete Prisco at CBS.
00:10Yeah, and I had the pleasure of meeting Pete Prisco on one occasion.
00:15I had a long dinner with him, lunch with brought us.
00:17Lunch or dinner?
00:18It was like 2 o'clock.
00:20Okay.
00:21How tall was he?
00:24Not.
00:25Alec Medford.
00:26Makes sense why brought us as a fan.
00:27Alec Medford might be taller.
00:31Brisco could have played in the NFL.
00:34I heard yesterday on the draft show you were taking shots every five minutes like you had it on a
00:39timer.
00:39No, I was sharing brought us his board.
00:42I was talking about how.
00:43I don't give a damn where you think.
00:44He would play Alec at safety.
00:46Muggsy Bogues.
00:47He loved David Hellman for that very reason.
00:50Sandler.
00:51He only likes a player if he can pick them up and toss them in the air like a baby.
00:57Pete loves his takes and he is proud of them.
00:59But he had a very long article on CBS where he went through his power rankings and the opening line.
01:05Real quick.
01:06Do you consider him a troll at all?
01:08Pete?
01:08Yeah.
01:09Because he has very different opinions on things.
01:11I don't think I follow him enough to know.
01:15I don't think he's a troll because I think he does believe a lot of the stuff he says.
01:18He believes it.
01:18But, like, there are times where I think he digs in of, like, I'm going to have this take longer
01:23than I need to.
01:24His opening line.
01:26I am all in on the Dallas Cowboys.
01:28Oh, wee!
01:29Yeah, yeah.
01:30You've heard it before.
01:31This is the Cowboys year.
01:33A statement many have said before.
01:35Only to see the season of hope crumble, leading to more Jerry Jones jokes.
01:40You won't be doing that come this December.
01:43They will be Super Bowl contenders.
01:47How about them Cowboys?
01:49Thanks, guys.
01:50So he is a troll.
01:52And continue.
01:53After their offseason, culminated with an impressive draft haul.
01:57They are now my pick to win the NFC East and compete for a whole lot more.
02:01Their problems have been their defense.
02:03It won't be anymore.
02:04They have totally revamped the unit.
02:07Started with the hiring of new defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
02:10The 34-year-old, a first-time coordinator.
02:12Reputation joined the league as a good one.
02:14Especially coming from the Eagles, where he worked with Vic Fangio.
02:17The defense will look different.
02:19It will look different.
02:203-4.
02:22But also featuring many new faces.
02:24This is Caleb Downs, Lawrence, Barham.
02:28Barham will play inside for the Cowboys.
02:30They also traded to get the winners for the Niners.
02:33We'll have a lot of new faces at the starting unit this season as well.
02:36Good thing, considering how bad it's been.
02:39The offense, explosive again.
02:42Like your voice.
02:43Provided receiver, George Pickens, is around and focused.
02:48Since he's playing on the franchise tag.
02:50This is the year that Dak Prescott will finally go for being one of the league's most underrated players.
02:57To getting the acclaim he deserves as the Cowboys push for the Super Bowl.
03:01Damn.
03:02You know, I'll throw a tiny bit of cold water on all this.
03:07Since I've been heating it up.
03:09For the past week.
03:10Two weeks.
03:11Got a little simmer going.
03:13Yeah, I love that there's all these new faces because of the horrific defense last year.
03:20I am worried that all the excitement I have right now isn't really legitimate until year two.
03:29Because one thing we're not discussing, we've got a long time to do it.
03:34All these new players in a new scheme and we think we're just going to plug them into our Madden
03:42roster.
03:43And everything's going to be good to go in terms of chemistry and understanding.
03:47Downs, Locke, Thompson, Gary, Winters, Malachi, Durant.
03:55I mean, Barham.
03:57All these guys are either going to start or get a significant amount of time.
04:01And I'm probably forgetting some guys.
04:03That's three, four, five, six.
04:04That's eight.
04:05That's eight new faces in a new scheme.
04:09And right now I'm not going to get into it too much because I want to keep the high going.
04:14And we've got off-season content.
04:15We've still got to get through.
04:16That's right.
04:17I mean, who knows how long it's going to take.
04:20I mean, it would not surprise me if it takes a year, a full year.
04:25You know, we have seen this.
04:26Caleb Downs played at Ohio State, obviously.
04:28He got there when Jim Knowles was there as the defensive coordinator.
04:34Jim Knowles' first year, that defense was not very good.
04:37They could not figure it out.
04:39It was very, very complicated.
04:41That doesn't mean Caleb didn't figure it out.
04:42Yeah.
04:42But the rest of the team could not figure it out.
04:45And then in year two, it clicked.
04:48And what happened in year two?
04:49Yeah, they won the national championship.
04:52And they destroyed everybody on the way.
04:54And the one thing, real quick, Bobby, to counter myself is I could argue you have eight new players and
05:00a brand-new coordinator and a brand-new system.
05:03And the odds are you're still not going to be as horrific as last year.
05:07That it's still going to be better.
05:09You could spin a wheel and pick players.
05:11And, like, you could have done a mix-and-match and probably had a better defense.
05:15Mitch LaPointe, who's the Cowboys director of college scouting, when we talked to him on day three, we had asked
05:20him about the idea of Downs getting prepared for the NFL and walking the scheme.
05:24And is it advantageous to play for guys like Matt Patricia's really advanced scheme?
05:29100%.
05:30I think that's kind of what put, like, Alabama and Georgia players ahead in the last 10 years.
05:34Like, playing for Kirby or Nick.
05:36Like, I mean, they put so much on these kids.
05:38And if they tell you, hey, this guy's an average learner, you get him at the combine, and they're, like,
05:42advanced compared to some other kids.
05:44And you're like, wait, he's average.
05:45Like, oh, my God, this guy's unbelievable.
05:47He can draw up all 11.
05:49He knows what's going on.
05:50And you're like, oh, my God.
05:51Like, yeah.
05:51So, really, when you get guys from some of those programs, you know exactly.
05:55Like, they've been through it.
05:57Yeah, and that's the thing is that I think that if you're talking about, yes, it's new faces, and that's
06:02definitely a hesitation.
06:03But I would say some of it is Gary's coming in here, and Gary has worked in the petting scheme
06:09that there's some borrowed from Parker.
06:11You're bringing in P.J. Locke, who had been with Parker in Denver.
06:16So, you've got, like, these philosophy evangelists that you bring in to talk to other players.
06:22And I think they've done it.
06:23I've never heard the term philosophy evangelist.
06:25I haven't either.
06:25I like it, though.
06:26And I think that when you've got the – when you see Philly did do this.
06:312023, they revamped their defense.
06:34Because, remember, it was, like, getting destroyed.
06:36Or 24, whatever.
06:3724, the year they won the Super Bowl.
06:3824 is getting destroyed.
06:39They revamped that defense and had two rookies playing prominent roles in the secondary, and they were nails on defense.
06:47And so, not that this team will be, because I don't know that they have that personnel, but it's at
06:51least – you can see teams work into it.
06:53Darren Quinn's first year here, the Cowboys worked into it by about week 10.
06:56They had settled in, and they became one of the better defenses in the second half of the year.
07:00That's a possibility, I think.
07:02All right, child, let's get to Pete Briscoe's power rankings, one on down.
07:05Number one, Cowboys, the Seattle Seahawks.
07:11Let's see.
07:12Landing running back Darian Price in the first round will prove to be a big part of their offense.
07:17Kenneth Walker will not be missed.
07:19Woof.
07:19Damn.
07:20Number two, Ty Simpson's L.A. Rams.
07:25More on that at eight.
07:26Yeah, so they're drafted little to help them.
07:28That was a strange tactic, with Stafford likely playing his last season, but they still have the talent to win
07:33it all.
07:33How can you write that sentence, though?
07:35That was a strange tactic, with Stafford likely playing his last season.
07:39I know his point is not getting a final piece of help, but that sentence to me more screams, we
07:46need his replacement.
07:47Right, right.
07:47I mean, look.
07:48That was a strange tactic, with Stafford likely playing his last year.
07:51Yeah, like, this is, I think the one thing that people a lot of times forget is that, you know,
07:56yes, it is, fans, we're all in the moment.
07:58It's about this year.
07:59The GM does have to think about fielding a team the following season.
08:02Yeah.
08:02Do we have to, are we judging this differently than what the Packers always do?
08:08Yeah, but I think there's a reason, I think there's a reason to.
08:11Why?
08:11Because when they took Love and when they took Rodgers, they were both considered sliding.
08:15Like, they took, like, they grabbed Simpson at 13, but a lot of people were like, is he going to
08:19go in the first?
08:19So there were a lot of people, I think, I don't think, I think the bigger criticism that you have
08:23out here, other than related to Sean McVay's reaction,
08:27I think the bigger criticism you have here is, why didn't you try to just cultivate other stuff?
08:32You could bump back to 19, probably, and be able to get him there.
08:35What if, I mean, what if Arizona or the Jets steal them?
08:37I think they were scared of the Jets.
08:40I think it's.
08:40Arizona probably didn't have the capital to go up.
08:42Maybe the Jets could have.
08:44But, man, I don't know.
08:45I just, that to me feels like, I think a lot of people just looked at it and were like,
08:49you could have, you could have massaged that better.
08:52But, yeah, again, maybe they look at it the same way the Cowboys do it.
08:54They're like, we don't think Miami's taking downs, but let's not take the chance.
08:57And we're not going to be here again.
08:59Yeah.
08:59We're not going to be here at 13 again.
09:01We have to do it.
09:02And if they evaluate him that way, they evaluate him that way.
09:04So I don't want to, like, dump on their evaluation.
09:07That's how they saw it.
09:08I want them to pick with conviction.
09:09Because it's hard not to trust Sean McVay if he signs off.
09:12Which, maybe he did.
09:13He did.
09:14Maybe he did.
09:148 o'clock.
09:15Maybe he did.
09:15But I think the, when I look at Simpson, I just go like, that's not a guy that I feel
09:19like, well, I got to grab him now and not risk it.
09:24Number three.
09:26The Buffalo Bills.
09:28With Keon Coleman.
09:29With Keon Coleman, yeah.
09:30They're going to bring him right back.
09:31How about that conviction?
09:32Saying, team's called about Keon.
09:34Not happening.
09:35Yeah.
09:36So awkward.
09:37Number four.
09:39Denver.
09:39Denver.
09:40Saying the trade for Jalen Waddell will be the biggest move for them in terms of making a step forward.
09:45Number five.
09:48His.
09:49Jacksonville Jaguars.
09:51Why is it his?
09:52He lives there.
09:54He lives there.
09:54He's been covering them for years.
09:55Way too high.
09:56That's what it qualifies to be a Jaguars.
09:58He lives there.
09:59Their draft was perplexing, but tight end Nate Burketscher.
10:04Burketscher.
10:04Burketscher will be a good player.
10:05Biggest move this year, getting Travis Hunter back healthy to start at corner.
10:10Number five is, I assume, number six is San Fran.
10:13Number seven is Green Bay.
10:17By the way, Bobby, I know everyone's crapping on Jacksonville.
10:20The San Fran reach criticism.
10:22Is that legitimate based upon you and the draft shows boards?
10:27I don't remember.
10:28I know that San Francisco got a lot of criticism for it.
10:31I don't remember their draft blowing me away of just being like, that's awful.
10:35But we were also so focused on Jacksonville.
10:37Stripling.
10:37Stripling.
10:38A lot of people thought Stripling was going early to mid-second.
10:41So I don't think it's that bad.
10:43Romello Height was somebody who maybe is a little early, but a lot of people.
10:46You had him as a cowboy in the third.
10:47I thought he was going in the third to the Cowboys.
10:49Then they took him in the third.
10:50And so now, Kalon Black from Indiana.
10:53Yeah, that's a reach.
10:54Black was supposed to go.
10:54So I think a lot of people thought he was going to go in the sixth round.
10:57And he went?
10:58Third round.
10:59Oh.
10:59Yeah, so that was early.
11:01But I mean, I will also give a little bit of deference to the 49ers in general when
11:05they evaluate running backs.
11:06They've been pretty good at it.
11:08Number eight.
11:10You got seven?
11:12I did.
11:13That was Green Bay.
11:13Okay, Green Bay.
11:15The Dallas Cowboys.
11:18They have totally revamped their defense.
11:19What they had to do?
11:20One concern, George Pickens on the franchise tag.
11:23Will he pout or use it as motivation?
11:27All right.
11:27Is there a team in front of Dallas on Prisco's list where you're like, they should be behind
11:33him?
11:34Or is there a team behind the Cowboys on this where you're like, how are they not in front
11:39of them?
11:39No.
11:41I wouldn't object to Green Bay.
11:43Let's jump in out more.
11:44There's more teams that should be in front of them.
11:47Yeah.
11:47The only one that's close to me is I don't know.
11:50They're on the home of the Dallas Cowboys, Bobby Bell, in case you forgot.
11:52The only one I don't know if it's close is the only one I might like just, I don't know
11:57how good Jacksonville is going to be again this year.
11:59Like maybe they're, maybe they're really good.
12:01I don't know.
12:01I would put them definitively ahead of Dallas right now, but that would be the closest one
12:04that's an argument.
12:05I went through and I was trying to pick over it and I was like, how many teams would I
12:09say right now starting today I would put over Dallas and I have 14.
12:12So like definitively.
12:14So you have the Cowboys 15th?
12:17Like their peak would be 15.
12:19There's probably like two other teams that are in the conversation right around them.
12:21So between 15 and 17.
12:23Do you have the team?
12:24Yeah.
12:24All right.
12:24Don't fly through them so fast.
12:26Go ahead.
12:28Seahawks, Rams, Broncos, Bills, Ravens, 49ers, Texans, Patriots, Eagles, Bears, Chargers,
12:39Lions, Jags, Packers.
12:44Jacksonville is definitively better than the Cowboys.
12:47That's why I said that's the closest one because Trevor, their defense was great last
12:51year and Lawrence played better down the stretch.
12:54So you don't.
12:55Okay.
12:56We got Houston obviously just because of their defense.
12:58Yeah.
12:59You don't believe in CJ, right?
13:00No.
13:01And then you go and toss up in the East with Philadelphia.
13:06Definitely better.
13:08I think right now, everything we know, we have to say they're definitely better.
13:11Now that could, that is definitely one that I think there's some here who are vulnerable.
13:14I think very easily we could be looking at the end of the first month of the season and
13:18saying Dallas looks better than Detroit.
13:20Dallas looks better than Jacksonville.
13:21Dallas looks better than Philly.
13:22Dallas looks better than Baltimore.
13:23Dallas looks better than Chicago.
13:25I think all those are possible by the end of the first month.
13:27I just think right now, given what we know and what we saw at the end of last season,
13:30Dallas has pushed themselves up past teams that would have had them behind like Tampa
13:34and Carolina.
13:35But I don't think that they're above those other teams right now.
13:38Pete Prisco's power rankings here on the Expressway.
13:41105 through the fan.
13:42Let's go ahead and wrap them up and then we'll hook you up with Lee Bryce tickets.
13:45Next up is the Chargers at nine.
13:46The Bears at 10.
13:48Pats at 11.
13:50Chiefs at 12.
13:51Pats at 11.
13:52I mean, is that really?
13:54That's really disrespectful, isn't it?
13:56Yeah.
13:57I mean, there's I've seen a couple different power rankings.
13:59Everybody has the Patriots around like nine to 12.
14:02Everyone.
14:03They won a lot of close games last year, which they can't count on again.
14:06The Vrabel situation does not help either.
14:09Who did they get at wide out?
14:11They lost digs.
14:12Did they get Dobbs?
14:14Yeah, Romeo Dobbs.
14:15Yeah.
14:15Didn't they?
14:16Yeah, they made another acquisition.
14:17I'm trying to remember what it was.
14:18So they still might be weak in terms of the weapons.
14:21Chiefs at 12.
14:21Eagles at 13.
14:22They're getting another receiver here in about a month.
14:24Oh, yeah.
14:25That's right.
14:25True.
14:26Eagles at 13.
14:27After we helped them get Lemon.
14:29Ravens at 14.
14:30Ooh.
14:32Houston at 15.
14:33Bobby, I am surprised.
14:36You're usually a Baltimore hater.
14:38Yeah, I think Baltimore's a bunch of chokers.
14:40But I also think that Baltimore, talent-wise, is more talented than Dallas right now.
14:43Houston 15.
14:44Man, your league is in good shape if the Ravens and the Texans are 14 and 15.
14:50Tampa at 16.
14:52Cincy at 17.
14:55Detroit at 18.
14:56RJ's Lions and his other team following them.
15:00Minnesota at 19.
15:02And the Colts at 20.
15:03Mike McCarthy-Steelers at 21.
15:05I think Cincy and Dallas are the same team.
15:07Where they're offensively really strong and defensively, you're just like, well, if they can kind of be okay, then they
15:11could shoot up this list.
15:12So, he went and he had the Cowboys two spots ahead of the Bears.
15:18Two spots.
15:18Three ahead of New England.
15:20Four ahead of Kansas City.
15:21Five ahead of Philly.
15:22Six ahead of Baltimore.
15:23Seven ahead of Houston.
15:25And ten ahead of Detroit.
15:27Ooh.
15:28Ten ahead of Detroit.
15:30That feels a little rich.
15:31I don't know.
15:32Me and you always...
15:34I always have more Detroit stock up than I do down.
15:38I don't know what it is.
15:40And they, you know, they exploded on the Cowboys.
15:44They did.
15:44They're a good team.
15:45They have an easy schedule this year.
15:48And last year, they had a very tough schedule.
15:50It's that offensive line instability people are wondering about.
15:53So, Steelers at 21.
15:55Panthers, Saints, Falcons, Giants at 25.
15:58That's what they said about him.
15:59The nice draft will help both units up front, which is important.
16:01But the real key is dark.
16:03Washington at 26.
16:06Coming off a down year.
16:07Jaden is back healthy.
16:08They added some good pieces of free agency.
16:10A lot of changes in the offseason.
16:12Includes the coordinators.
16:13Jets, Raiders, Titans, Browns, Dolphins, Cardinals.
16:17Tannenbaum picked Washington to win the Super Bowl.
16:19This year?
16:20Yeah, at the end of last season.
16:22Washington at 20.
16:23How can you pick a team to win the Super Bowl but for free agency in the draft?
16:26It was like a, hey, call your shot a year out kind of thing.
16:29And Tannenbaum's picked them.
16:30I'll see you soon.
16:30Theamura film.
