00:00Let's get to, well, before we get to the free agent list, Adam Schefter, Mary Kay Cabot, everyone else checking
00:06in with the Cleveland Browns after the Miles Garrett shuffling of the contract yesterday, and they're putting out the word
00:12to everyone, we're not interested in trading him.
00:16But Field Yates had said, when they shuffled around this money, people throughout the league said, that's usually what happens
00:24when you're getting ready to trade someone.
00:26So I'm not totally buying Cleveland, I don't think he's going to get dealt, he actually should get dealt, it'd
00:33be the smart thing for the Browns to do, but I don't believe they'll do it because they're stupid and
00:36always have been, but they're putting out the word, which I'm not totally believing, he's not getting moved.
00:43So you don't believe he's getting moved? Or you don't believe he's not getting moved?
00:46I think it's like 85-15 that he stays.
00:50Stays? Stays.
00:51That's probably the most likely.
00:52I don't think it's impossible that, I'm not just totally believing them that they didn't do this to think about
00:59moving him.
01:00Right.
01:01My thing is, I don't know that someone's going to give the compensation they're going to want.
01:05They're going to want two ones and more.
01:08Well, and now, Green Bay did it.
01:11Yeah, but they did it for somebody that's half the age from an NFL perspective.
01:18So I don't know, that's a lot, it's asking a lot.
01:21He's an all-timer, he's an all-time great.
01:26It's a lot of compensation to give up.
01:28Yeah.
01:29So I think it's probably more likely.
01:31What if it was a, what if it's the Cowboys 12 and first rounder next year, and then we tinker
01:37and add in your, a second and a third here and there?
01:39Not 12 and 20, but 12 next year's one.
01:44Now, I would be way more likely to do that than this.
01:48Well, more likely to do that than the 12 and 20, yeah.
01:51But no.
01:52No.
01:53Still no.
01:54No.
01:55I just like, I just fundamentally don't believe individual defensive players impact your winning.
02:01Like, to me, George Pickens impacts winning more than Miles Garrett does.
02:06Let me ask you a crazy question.
02:08Yeah.
02:08I already know your answer.
02:11Hey, Bobby, we'd fly back right now and strangle you.
02:14Would you rather have Pickens or Garrett?
02:17I'd rather have the offensive player.
02:18You'd rather have Pickens?
02:19Yeah.
02:20That doesn't mean that he's not, like, Miles is better at what he does.
02:24Of course.
02:24It's not even close.
02:26But I'd rather have the individual offensive player over the individual defensive player.
02:30All right, so this list took what everyone did in free agency and ranked that.
02:35This is not, I like this exercise, this is not the teams after free agency, this is what they did.
02:41Yeah, so, and he's not looking at, like, the teams that had the most money to spend, right?
02:46Because the Raiders and Titans would just win because they had a lot of money to spend.
02:50So this is the value they got for the money, the flexibility of the roster approach to the draft, the
02:55contract details that provide leverage, how they manipulated the compensatory pick formula, which I don't even understand.
03:02No one does.
03:03A lot of the teams, like, don't even totally understand it.
03:06And what they could have done but didn't do.
03:09So number one is Pittsburgh.
03:13Pittsburgh?
03:14Pittsburgh.
03:15Mike McCarthy, in your face, Bobby.
03:17There you go.
03:17Pittman, Rico, Dean, Risker, Joseph Day, and Samuel.
03:23So, like, he didn't love, he says, what I didn't love is nothing.
03:27And who was this doing it?
03:28Ben Solak.
03:29He said, Omar Khan went up there and didn't hit home runs, he just got a bunch of doubles.
03:36All right, he said he didn't hit home runs, he got a bunch of doubles.
03:38That's a good way to put it, that's fine.
03:41Dowdle consistently proved he can moonlight as an RB1.
03:43One, you know, Dean coming off a career year, but they did not pay him like he's coming off a
03:48career year.
03:49It's a little bit of a bargain there.
03:51Number two, this is scary, San Fran.
03:56Evans, Osa, Kirk, Greenlaw, Hobbs, and Pinheiro.
04:01That's a pretty good acquisition in returning players that they got right there.
04:06He says the Evans deal, one of the most team-friendly signings, only 14 guaranteed at signing, and most of
04:13the 27 and 28 is tied into option bonuses.
04:17Are you really worried about what they did?
04:19I'm not really worried about it, because I'm kind of looking at the final days of Evans.
04:25I wasn't the biggest Osa fan, like some other people here.
04:29Christian Kirk has been fine.
04:31Greenlaw, I looked into him for the Cowboy purposes, hurt and banged up.
04:35I'm not really worried about what they've done, even though you have some names.
04:41I like what they've done.
04:42I'm not necessarily worried.
04:43They were already better than us to begin with, though.
04:45That's a problem.
04:46One thing he said is the Osa trade, an enormous boon, a third-round pick for a rising 28-year
04:54-old with three years of team control at a premium position of massive need, home run.
04:59So he thinks we got too little for Osa.
05:03The Cowboys got too little.
05:04What?
05:05The Cowboys.
05:06The Cowboys got too little.
05:07Osa, for number three is Detroit, which surprised me, because I don't think a lot of people love what Detroit
05:12did.
05:14But the dart throws, he said, they had more needs than money, but they did well taking on high upside
05:20swings within the margins.
05:22Saints are next, getting Travis HN, Noah Fant, David Edwards, he still thinks they needed to do receiver depth.
05:33Loves Denver, that's five.
05:35Patriots at six.
05:36What did you have on the Waddle trade with Denver making that deal with Miami?
05:41This was from Albert Breer, and he talked about how the trade came about and how Denver used trades as
05:52far back as a decade ago to get the proper value for what they were going to give up for
06:00Waddle.
06:00And they went back so far.
06:03So they wanted to know exactly what other teams.
06:08They looked at drafts and trades from, like, the 90s, the mid-2000s, right?
06:15They looked at the Cooks trade with the Patriots and Saints, and then the Patriots and Rams.
06:21They looked at the Amari deal with the Cowboys and Raiders, the Diggs deal with the Vikings and Bills.
06:27They went far and wide to try to figure out exactly what they got.
06:31The Dolphins, meanwhile, looked at the A.J. Brown trade, a mid-first and a third as the comp.
06:39And, like, it's like that's how they came to the compensation.
06:43But what's unique about that?
06:45Doesn't everyone sit there and say, oh, my God, Mike, you got Delph for that, so we have to do
06:49that for Crosby?
06:50And then we have to do even more of that for Miles?
06:52I think it was unique from the standpoint of, like, they went back that far to the Brandon Cooks trade
06:59for the Saints and the Patriots and the Amari deal for the Raiders.
07:03That's far away to go back.
07:05Yeah.
07:05And you're going back even further with some of the other ones.
07:08I don't know.
07:09I just thought that was unique how that took place.
07:12Because, you know, I think if Waddle gets a one and a three or A.J. gets a one and
07:18a three and Waddle gets a one and a four or whatever, to me, George is, like, getting way, way
07:22more than that.
07:23And that's kind of how you got to approach these.
07:27You like how that was as close as we're going to get to a Bobby admission of being wrong?
07:31But we got it with the Pickens' comp, what it would be.
07:35Now, his out is he still hasn't been traded, so we don't know.
07:38But he knows.
07:39He knows.
07:39He knows we've won that one.
07:41He knows.
07:43All right.
07:43So we're at the Raiders at seven.
07:45This is the free agent class rankings from ESPN.
07:50Washington at eight.
07:53So most of the teams we've seen so far have been AFC.
07:56You get to Washington.
07:56You got San Fran and Detroit.
07:58Minnesota at ten.
08:00Getting Kyler and Carson Wentz and Eric Wilson, James Pierre.
08:05Philadelphia at 11.
08:06How high up would you put Minnesota based upon what you're saying about them with Kyler?
08:11Well, I love them getting Kyler.
08:14You think they're going to win the North?
08:14I think they're a, if I was going to bet on the North, they're not going to be the favorite,
08:20and they shouldn't be, but they're going to have the best value.
08:24They're a good team that could win that division.
08:27They love what he loves what Philadelphia did, has them at number 11, the Rams at 12.
08:31I mean, the Rams only made three moves.
08:34They got McDuffie, they got Watson, they got Cam Curl.
08:38Hey, that's a new starting corner.
08:40Yeah.
08:40They got a whole new cornerback room.
08:42He doesn't like that they did nothing at receiver.
08:45Houston, the Bears at 14.
08:48So how many teams right now have we already talked about that are as good or better, right?
08:54Let me just, how many of those teams that we've already talked about that have been ahead of the Cowboys?
09:00But this is just with the class and what they've done.
09:02You what?
09:03It's just with the class and what they've done.
09:04Yeah, just with the class.
09:05But, you know, we are, San Fran was already better.
09:08It was already better.
09:10New Orleans wasn't, but they played well down the stretch.
09:14Washington wasn't.
09:18Minnesota, I think they are better.
09:20I think Minnesota's better.
09:21Philadelphia already was better.
09:23The Rams already were better.
09:24Chicago already was better.
09:26Yeah.
09:26Atlanta, I don't believe they were.
09:28Neither.
09:28Arizona next at 16.
09:30Carolina at 17.
09:31They already were better.
09:32And they think they had a better offseason just in free action than the Cowboys did.
09:37And here come the Cowboys at number 20.
09:39And if you told us, entering free agency, that they would have the 20th best or most improved free agent
09:47class, I think we'd all be disappointed.
09:49Agreed.
09:50Totally agree.
09:51I think we'd all be disappointed.
09:52Now, Miles Garrett's a bust of budget.
09:54Yes.
09:55Crosby, the attempt, the three attempts, bust the budget.
09:58But if you said they had the 20th best class, that's not sounding like you didn't bust the budget.
10:02No.
10:03Now, if they get Max or Miles Garrett, this goes into the top 11.
10:10Well, what was his write-up?
10:11So, acquisitions, obviously Gary, the tag of Pickens, Jalen Thompson, Kobe Durant.
10:18He loved keeping Pickens on the tag.
10:20He agrees with you.
10:22He would have made somewhere near $40 million a year in free agency.
10:25Instead, they get another crack at a passing offense centralized on him and Dak and Lamb.
10:30Dak generated 141.9 EPA on targeted passes this past season, which means non-throwaways.
10:37And Pickens and Lamb accounted for 67% of that.
10:40The trio has a chance to be the league's best.
10:42A new coordinator on defense, improved defensive depth chart.
10:45They are a sneaky team to make a deep playoff run in this one-year window.
10:53One year?
10:54One year window.
10:56What he didn't love is the failure to address linebacker.
10:59Why is he calling it a one-year window?
11:02I don't know.
11:03I don't know.
11:05The failure to address linebacker, not for lack of trying.
11:08Deep into talks with Walker and N'Kobe Dean, both of whom ended up with the Raiders.
11:12The current talented linebacker is prohibitive to playoff defense.
11:17Leofau moving to an on-ball role.
11:21The Cowboys have only three rostered off-ball linebackers and Overshone still rounding into form.
11:27They need a big trade or an early draft pick that hits.
11:30This should be doable in a solid draft class with an extra first-round pick to play with,
11:35but never good to enter April with this dire need.
11:40Yeah, it's dire when I look at the room.
11:43I still don't know.
11:45Like, positional value on defense.
11:48Linebacker still lasts.
11:50I think so, yeah.
11:51D-line and D-tackle.
11:53Not that it's not important, and I don't know how much more important or less important is going to be
11:57Christian Parker's scheme.
11:58When you can't stop the run, linebacker's important.
12:01But I'd much rather have linebacker as the spot they didn't address than Durant at corner or up front.
12:10I'd much rather have strong defensive tackles, edge rushers, and corners than a great linebacking core.
12:17Now, it's not like it's linebacking core that's important.
12:19It is.
12:20But, you know, to me, if I've got a defensive line that is a menace to deal with, I mean,
12:26that changes your game.
12:27So the Cowboys coming in at number 20 with what they did in free agency, according to ESPN.
12:33Cleveland 21, Tampa 22, Baltimore 23, Kansas City 24, Seattle 25.
12:39The Giants at 26.
12:41Does that feel right?
12:43Does that feel okay?
12:44Does that feel too low?
12:45I feel like it feels a little bit low for the Giants.
12:48I feel like it feels a little bit too low for the Cowboys.
12:53No, I think that it's fair.
12:56I like getting the Rashawn Gary.
12:58I was fine with that.
13:01But it does feel like, all right, they did not do as much as I had hoped they would do.
