Bernie Rayno breaks down the timing on when and where the cooler air will set up.
Transcript
00:00Well, as the calendar flips from April to May late this week, the weather will feel like it's
00:06flipping backwards straight from April to March. The Sharp Show won't come alone. We're going to
00:12be looking at several rounds of rain as well. Dip in the jet stream. Take a look at it. You
00:19can
00:19see all the cool air from the lakes toward the northeast. In fact, temperatures again,
00:23five to 15 degrees below historical averages by the time we get in the latter half of the week.
00:30And again, as I mentioned, it's going to be accompanied by rain, a soaking rain Wednesday
00:35and Wednesday night from the mid-Atlantic all the way into the northeast. And it's behind this storm
00:41that we see the first wave of cooler air coming in on Thursday. But it's not the only wave.
00:47Take a look at the jet stream going forward here. Look at that upper level O spin near James Bay
00:53in
00:53Hudson Bay. What that's going to do is continue to bring the cooler air down as we head toward the
00:59end of the week. And in fact, by the time we head into the weekend, a big dip in the
01:04jet stream will
01:05cover much of the lakes and into the northeast. And that is a puddle of cold air that's not going
01:12anywhere. Take a look at New York City as we head toward the weekend. The historical averages in the
01:18mid-60s, we're going to be in the middle 50s, a true taste of mid to late March.
