00:00Anyone I've ever made this grilled cheese sandwich for says it's the best one they've ever had in their life,
00:04so I'm going to teach you my secrets.
00:06First, I start with some mayonnaise, cheddar, and herbs and mix it up before slicing my sourdough bread nice and
00:12thick.
00:12I butter it on both sides and start layering my cheeses, but here's the secret.
00:17That mayo mixture, you're going to put it right in the middle of your grilled cheese.
00:20Sear it on both sides until your cheese is nice and melted, and there you have it.
00:25You're going to enjoy your sandwich, and then you're going to thank me for the best grilled cheese recipe ever.
00:29Try it out and let me know what you think.
00:49Here's how to make the best grilled cheese sandwich ever.
00:51Everything I used in this video is from the new Selena Gomez and Our Place collection.
00:55First, thickly slice your sourdough bread, then mix together softened butter, garlic powder, and shredded cheese, and spread it on
01:00the outer side of each slice.
01:02Add a slice of provolone, Colby Jack, then spread on this cream cheese mayo and these listed spices, then add
01:07a slice of Havarti.
01:08In your always pan, melt some butter over medium-low heat, then add in the sandwiches.
01:12Cover with a lid and allow the bottom to crisp up, then flip and repeat.
01:15I used my perfect pot in the colorway Rosa for the tomato soup.
01:18It's non-steak and non-toxic.
01:20My place is woman and immigrant-owned, so I always love to support, of course, and enjoy.
01:40Welcome back to things I learned in culinary school, how to make a grilled cheese.
01:45Yes, this is very simple, but it is something I learned in culinary school.
01:49There's three components, bread, cheese, and a fat like butter or mayo.
01:54For bread, I prefer white or sourdough.
01:56You want a cheese that melts well, like American or cheddar.
02:00Always use sliced, not shredded.
02:02And let the cheese sit at room temp for like 20 minutes.
02:05You don't want to use freezing cold cheese or it won't melt as well.
02:08Using a fat like butter or mayo is what's going to get you that crispy golden brown crust.
02:13The difference is that mayo has a slightly higher burning point.
02:17They also have different flavors.
02:19To make the sandwich in a non-stick pan on low heat, I put the bread butter side down.
02:23Adding on both cheddar and American cheese with a lid to just let it melt.
02:28Then I add my other slice of bread butter side up.
02:31Really check it to make sure it doesn't burn and then give it a flip.
02:34I like to use a spatula to press it down.
02:37You could repeat the same process with mayo instead of butter.
02:40If you're making more than one sandwich, clean out the pan with a paper towel.
02:44And make sure the pan doesn't get too hot.
02:46The grilled cheese on the left was with mayo and the one on the right was with butter.
02:51It's a pretty slight difference.
02:53Either one results in a delicious grilled cheese served with tomato soup for the ultimate comfort meal.
02:59How to make a perfect grilled cheese sandwich every single time.
03:03Get your bread, get your cheese, and here's the secret ingredient.
03:06Mayonnaise.
03:07Spread that on just like you would the butter.
03:09It never damages the bread and creates a perfect golden brown every single time.
03:15Okay.
03:17How long is this cheese full?
03:20Soft butter on the inside of white bread.
03:24Thick slicer.
03:25Not a lot, but even, you know?
03:28Mozzarella.
03:29Only American cheese goes on a grilled cheese.
03:31But when I'm making tomato soup, I've got to have a little mozzarella in there.
03:35Three pieces, two pieces, classic American.
03:39Crust to crust.
03:41And we press.
03:42Want that butter to melt.
03:45You can't go wrong with a classic pan-fried grilled cheese.
03:49You guys put butter on the inside or the outside?
03:52Just two minutes on this side.
03:54Let's go.
04:24Take your dreams and make them multiply.
04:26If this girl was mine, I'd take your enemies in front of God.
04:30Introduce them to that light.
04:31Get through strictly with that fire.
04:34Fire, fire.
04:35Fire, fire, fire.
04:37Fire, fire.
04:39Fire.
04:40Hey, I'm a normal seven days.
04:42Drop it like it's hot.
04:43If this world was mine, I'd take your dreams and make them multiply.
04:47If this world was mine, I'd take your enemies in front of God.
04:50Introduce them to that light.
04:53He say that I'm good enough.
04:55Don't want to think about shit that I shouldn't have.
04:57So I tell him it's one of me.
04:58He making fun of me.
04:59His girl is a bum to me.
05:00Like that boy is a cat.
05:02Saying he home, but I know where he at.
05:04Like, but he blowing her back.
05:05Think about me because he know that it's fat.
05:08And it been what it been.
05:09Calling his phone like, yo, send me a pen.
05:11Duck in my shit because he know what I'm on.
05:12But when he hit me, I'm not gonna respond.
05:14But I don't sleep enough without you.
05:16And I can't eat enough without you.
05:18If you don't speak, does that mean we're through?
05:20Don't like sneaky shit that you do.
05:33Have you ever wondered how to make a classic grilled cheese sandwich with a cheese pull like this?
05:37Well, today I'm going to show you how to make the classic grilled cheese with a few tips on how
05:41you can level it up.
05:41My favorite bread to use for grilled cheese is sourdough bread, but the classic American grilled cheese is made on
05:46white bread.
05:47And the cheese typically used on a classic grilled cheese is American cheese.
05:51If you've never had an American cheese, think of it as a softer, creamier version of a mild cheddar.
05:56But in my sandwiches, I also like to include some aged cheddar for sharpness and some monster cheese because it's
06:01an excellent melting cheese and always leads to beautiful cheese pulls.
06:04Oh, and if you don't have thin slices of cheese like I'm using, I would recommend grating the cheese so
06:08that it melts better.
06:08Now that you have your cheese selected, you might put it on the sandwich, but don't do that.
06:11The number one mistake I see people making is not putting a spread on the inside of their sandwich.
06:16And the most popular spreads are mayonnaise and butter.
06:19Typically, you would just use butter, but I like mayonnaise better, so I'm going to use that.
06:23And just a reminder, this is the inside of the bread, not the outside.
06:26Now is also a good time to add any spices that you're in the mood for.
06:29You can really take these in any direction you want, so don't be shy to experiment.
06:33But because we are making just a classic grilled cheese, I'm only going to use salt and pepper on this
06:36one.
06:36And honestly, I don't think anybody else really does this, I think this is just a me thing, but it
06:41does level up your sandwich, so I recommend it.
06:43Now you can assemble the sandwich, and we have one more decision to make.
06:46What sort of oil should we use to toast the outside of the bread?
06:48Again, you can really use anything like mayonnaise, olive oil, or butter, but the classic uses butter, so I'm going
06:54to do that in this case.
06:55For this sandwich, I'm using 1 1ā2 tablespoons of butter. I cut it in half so that we can melt
06:59it for each side.
07:00Melt the butter in a pan, and add your sandwich.
07:02The trick to cooking a grilled cheese is to cook it low and slow.
07:05This may take 10 to 15 minutes, but you're going to have to wait for it, and trust me, it
07:09will be worth it.
07:10I also recommend flipping it back and forth a few times once it starts to brown to make sure that
07:14you do not burn anything while you're melting the cheese.
07:16Once you cut the sandwich, you're separating the cheese, and you will not have a cheese pull.
07:19Unless you stick a knife in there, and you reconnect the cheese.
07:22You can also let the sandwich rest for a minute so that the cheese melts back together and gives you
07:26a beautiful cheese pull, exactly like the one you're watching now.
07:29And there you have it. Now you know how to make a classic grilled cheese the Chef Tyler way.
07:33Today, I'm showing you my favorite way to make grilled cheese sandwich.
07:37It's so cheesy and packed with flavor, and absolutely delicious.
07:42You're going to need 2 slices of bread.
07:45Grab some butter, then use a generous amount to butter both sides of your bread.
07:49Once the bread has been buttered, I like to add some mayonnaise.
07:53And we're only going to spread this on just one side of the bread.
07:56Next, add your favorite cheese. I'm using Swiss cheese.
08:00And then we're going to sprinkle a little bit of onion powder, garlic powder, and dried thyme all over the
08:07bread and cheese.
08:09And then we're going to season everything with salt and black pepper.
08:13Next, we're going to cook the bread butter side down in a pan over medium heat.
08:18Depending on your desired level of browning, cook this for 5 to 7 minutes.
08:23Make sure you turn it over every minute. That way, the cheese can melt through evenly.
08:32The grilled cheese comes out so crunchy and flavorful.
08:52I'm trying out the Disneyland grilled cheese.
08:54Holy smokes, that's good.
08:56Cheese number one, cream cheese gets mixed with cheese number two, cheddar cheese, and a little heavy cream.
09:00And just salt and mix it all together.
09:02And this grilled cheese gets cooked in mayonnaise, which I love, but you flavor the mayonnaise with a little bit
09:06of garlic and salt.
09:07This is going to be the spread for the outside.
09:09And now we build.
09:10Place two slices of cheddar down on one piece of bread and then two slices of provolone, which is our
09:15third cheese, on the other.
09:16Spread some cream cheese mixture over both sets.
09:18Press the two halves together and then spread the mayo mixture on the outside.
09:21Place it mayo side down in your skillet.
09:23Now spread mayo on the other side and wait until both sides are toasty and golden.
09:27You're going to go low and slow so that all the cheese can be melted on the inside.
09:32Oh my god.
09:35This is epic.
09:39Holy smokes, that's good.
09:40That garlic comes through and then you get the tang from the cream cheese.
09:43It's savory, it's rich, and maybe one of the top grilled cheeses I've ever had.
09:48This probably cost $1 million at Disneyland.
09:50This grilled cheese is worth a million bucks.
09:52Start with mayo and garlic.
09:53Yes, on the outside.
09:55Mix cream cheese, bacon, scallions, and chopped cheddar.
09:58Spread it thick.
09:59No skimping here.
10:00Layer on American cheese for that perfect melt.
10:03Close it up like you mean it.
10:05Now drop shredded cheddar into the pan.
10:07Lay the sandwich on top.
10:08Let it sizzle and crisp.
10:10This isn't grilled cheese.
10:11This is crackly bacon, molten cheese, and pure million-dollar crunch.
10:16That is good.
