00:01Hello, welcome to the CV's Flight Channel.
00:13...he heat here in Philly, let's go!
00:18Really good start, Hunter Lawrence.
00:20Inside, Cooper Webb is the man who's there,
00:22but Lawrence, does he sneak his way through?
00:25He sure does.
00:26Ah, Kenny goes to the inside, though, and is able to double early,
00:30takes the early lead, this is huge. Why?
00:33Because now these guys are going to have to keep their heads down,
00:36they're going to be getting blasted with Dirk.
00:40Massive advantage to being in the lead in the mud.
00:42I'm going to tell you right now, these conditions,
00:44if you're a Ken Roxen fan, you are going to absolutely love it.
00:48I'm not saying that these other riders aren't good in the mud,
00:51but I like Ken's chances because of these conditions here.
00:54Before we came on the air, you said this is playing right into Roxen's hands.
00:59Why is he so good as Cooper Webb leaps his way into second?
01:03Passed on to Lawrence, who's trying to keep his bike up.
01:06Almost dropped it in the mud.
01:08Yeah, he keeps it up, right?
01:09And man, you talk about...
01:13...dying, eyes and crossing tees.
01:15Ken Roxen is doing that right now.
01:18Looks like Hunter's got some goggle issues.
01:20I think they put tear-offs over the roll-offs and it looks like all the tear-offs have come
01:29undone.
01:30Look at Ken.
01:31Tell us more, Will.
01:32Jumping through the rhythm.
01:33Just seeing Ken out front right now and Ricky listening to what you just said about how good he is
01:38in these conditions.
01:39As I was kind of doing my rounds with the teams today, there was a lot of talk about how
01:43important the start is going to be.
01:44...protecting the motorcycle, vision, everything that we've spoken about.
01:48The one team that had a smile on their face, well, that was the Suzuki Progressive Insurance Team.
01:53Because they know what their rider is capable of.
01:56We talked about opportunity so far tonight.
01:58A massive opportunity right now for the 94.
02:02Well, the reason he's so good in the mud, number one, he has the experience.
02:06He's raced in these type conditions a lot as a young kid as well.
02:10And again, I mean, this guy is into his 30s and that experience.
02:14And that's something that you can't buy.
02:17And I like that.
02:18I like how he rides.
02:19It's very loose on the bike as well.
02:21Kind of letting it move around, JT.
02:24Yeah, Ricky, does this remind you a little bit of that San Francisco race where you and James Stewart had
02:29that huge battle?
02:29And just the way the racetrack is shaping up, they're able to actually race it.
02:33You see Kenny jumping on, jumping off, putting all the combinations together.
02:37He just has a lot of shades of that year for me.
02:39Yeah, 100%.
02:40Like I talk about, hey, just going out there and doing what you need to do and racing your race.
02:45But yeah, these guys are getting so good at racing in these conditions that yet they end up racing this.
02:52And it's like, I remember that race that you just talked about in San Francisco so vividly.
02:57I'm like, oh, my goodness, it's like we're racing in here and it's not even muddy.
03:04I'll tell you what, with Ken being able to ride these conditions, watch this replay of Hunter Lawrence.
03:11He's going to come up short, starts to spin and goes sideways, comes up way short, no harm, no foul.
03:17But what I was going to say, as Ken is able to do these rhythm lanes, it actually creates less
03:24heat in the engine
03:26and the bike keeps the bike a little bit cooler because you're going at faster speeds.
03:30So that's helpful for preserving your engine, preserving your clutch.
03:34Clutch.
03:36Cooper Webb is just under six seconds in arrears of Roxson and has a nice buffer over Hunter Lawrence.
03:43And then how about Dean Wilson, Malcolm Stewart, Garrett Marchbanks, Vince Friese is in seventh.
03:50Then Christian Craig and Kevin Morantz has just pushed Mitchell Harrison outside of an automatic transfer position.
03:57Kenny just rolling along.
03:58I love what I'm seeing right now from Ken.
04:02I mean, he's in another zone compared to these guys.
04:05And like Dip just told us before this heat race started, this is one, two, three in the championship.
04:12So going into the main, he's got to be feeling pretty spunky.
04:16This three-time champ here is still mathematically alive in this 450 championship.
04:22It's going to be tough.
04:23He knows that, but the champ still has a mathematical shot.
04:28It's going to be hard, but who knows?
04:30On a night like tonight, it is wide open.
04:32The variables are plenty.
04:34Yeah, anything can happen, as we know, and just one tip over.
04:37You know, we talk about Kenny and that being a kickstart motorcycle.
04:41I mean, that should be a massive goal, not only for everybody else, but especially Kenny,
04:47because if for some reason he went down and that bike shut off, it is going to be difficult.
04:54Hunter Lawrence working his way through some traffic.
04:58You know, if Hunter isn't feeling overly great right now, I think you've got to go big picture.
05:03As much of a tough pill as that is to swallow, you've got to hope that just get through here,
05:09maximize the night, hope for a little luck, and move on the next weekend in Denver.
05:16He's got to continue the pattern that he's had this year, and that pattern is when he doesn't finish on
05:22the podium, he comes straight back to the next race.
05:25So he didn't finish on the podium at Anaheim 1, the season opener, but in San Diego, he was on
05:30the podium.
05:31He did not finish on the podium in Seattle, came back to Arlington to get his very first career 450
05:36win, did not finish on the podium in Detroit.
05:38He came back in St. Louis the very next week after crashing in the whoops, and he finished on third.
05:43He did not finish on the podium last weekend in Cleveland, so if he continues this pattern, he should be
05:50on the podium tonight.
05:51Yeah, he should be, but this, the mud being the equalizer is, you just never know.
05:57Let's have a listen to some thoughts on the championship points leader, here's Hunter.
06:02Yeah, no, it's good. I'm going to enjoy these last three.
06:06The points have been at numerous times throughout the season, been at, you know, down one, up one, you know,
06:13tied.
06:14So it's not anything I'm unfamiliar with, so I'm looking forward to getting these last three out.
06:18We've done a little bit more practice this week. I'll be prepared more so for the starts if it is
06:23weather.
06:23So, on the horizon, which is looking like it is, so I think I'll be better prepared for that.
06:27Looking forward to, you know, get the chance to go out and execute and then show the look.
06:31We'll put it for that this weekend in particular, but excited for down the road to Salt Lake as well.
06:35Yeah, you talk about preparing during the week for these type of conditions.
06:39I don't necessarily think he keeps meaning riding in the mud, probably starting on a wet grate, a wet metal
06:46grate,
06:46and making sure that he executes that start perfectly.
06:49He got a really good start in this heat race. Not good enough, though.
06:54That interview was conducted yesterday by our producer, Chris Bond.
06:57How about the weather yesterday? It was a stunning day.
07:01Completely the opposite to what we're dealing with here.
07:04Final lap. Broxon is getting close to being 10 seconds ahead of Cooper Webb.
07:09Here he is. Here's Kenny, who tied Bob Hanna, the legend, last week on 27 main event wins.
07:18If he wins again tonight, he ties Hall of Famer Ricky Johnson.
07:23I spoke to RJ earlier this week. He shared some really lovely words and thoughts.
07:28And if Ken does that, we'll share them with you a little later tonight.
07:35He's in a very special zone and a very special time of his career, is Ken Rockson.
07:42He's looking around. He's looking behind. Don't worry, Kenny.
07:46Cooper's not close. Checkered flag is out.
07:49Ken Rockson continues his winning ways.
07:54Heat victory. Yep, check that box.
07:57Cooper Webb comes across for a fine second.
07:59And then here's the points leader, Hunter Lawrence.
08:03Just carefully works his way across the line to third.
08:09Much more you can do.
08:13All these riders playing at safe diff and these guys are experts.
08:20They get a window into a little later tonight on what the main event is going to look like, feel
08:27like, race like.
08:29At the moment, Rockson is the man.
08:32We'll see you next time.
08:34We'll see you next time.
08:35We'll see you next time.
08:35We'll see you next time.
08:37We'll see you next time.
08:37We'll see you next time.
08:37We'll see you next time.
08:37We'll see you next time.
08:37We'll see you next time.
08:38We'll see you next time.
08:38We'll see you next time.
08:39We'll see you next time.
08:39We'll see you next time.
08:41We'll see you next time.
08:41We'll see you next time.
