00:00NFL Drafts on Thursday.
00:01It's night number one, round number one.
00:02What are you living under a rock right now?
00:04The NFL always controls us here, and we'll be watching, cheering,
00:07and also some big moments for front offices that really need to get to at least
00:12an AFC championship game or a Super Bowl.
00:15It's here from Brandon Bean talking about the NFL Draft.
00:24Hey!
00:26I agree.
00:27Tell me about Brandon Bean.
00:28Tell me about Brandon Bean.
00:29I agree.
00:30Everything he said, I agree with.
00:32Absolutely correct.
00:33Everything.
00:35I am spot on with him and I.
00:37We're like brothers with different mothers.
00:39Now let's see what he actually said on video.
00:42Yeah, I think it's hard.
00:43It's like anything.
00:44You kind of do a rundown.
00:46These are the guys that we're pretty sure there's less than 1% chance are going
00:53to be there, barring something, you know, a gas mask or something popping up.
01:01So if you guys want to put any players that are really talented, something out there using
01:05the AI to help us get them, we'll take them.
01:09He's right about that.
01:10When you don't draft at the top of the heap, you hope somebody falls down with a scandal
01:14on draft night.
01:15So you can grab them and use that to your advantage.
01:17He's under a lot of pressure in Buffalo.
01:19You just wait those Josh Allen years.
01:21And also, Joe, let's not forget going from the old stadium to the new stadium this year.
01:26A lot of pressure on those Buffalo Bills.
01:29And there is.
01:31And especially now that McDermott is gone and they chose, you know, being over McDermott.
01:37A lot of players in that locker room not happy.
01:39We'll see what happens here.
01:41But the biggest thing they have to worry about, Donnie, is don't reach.
01:44Like, whatever you're doing, do not reach for a pick just because you feel like you have
01:49to, to appease everybody else.
01:52So, again, most of the teams are built, Donnie, in the second, third, fourth, fifth round.
01:59That's where it's all about.
02:00There's only so many guys that are actual difference makers at the top of the draft anyway.
02:06And we know this.
02:07So many teams make so many mistakes.
02:09Like, the first, I always used to joke, Joe, like the first round should be given over
02:12to the fans because the fans will take the biggest name on the board at that time and
02:15usually outdraft the team where they try to outsmart themselves.
02:18Like, outside of a quarterback, take the best player on the board.
02:21Oh, we're loaded at defensive end.
02:23The best player by far is at defensive end.
02:25Oh, we'll go with the tackle who will be out of the league in two years.
02:27But this defensive end will be a superstar.
02:29Just make the base pick you can in the first round.
02:31The most talented guy, take him off the board.
02:33How about this news from LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier?
02:35Now, here's what I get a little bit of a laugh at, right?
02:37So, he goes to the NFL combine.
02:39They find a cyst on his spine, which was part of the cause of his oblique pain, which happened
02:44in 2025, where he was one of those guys that might be number one overall, had the pain,
02:48they didn't have a great season, and now he's just hoping to get drafted somewhere, let's
02:51just say, in the mid-rounds.
02:53But why didn't LSU's athletic training staff actually pick up on this might be an issue?
02:58Why do they have to wait to the NFL combine to see exactly what was hurting them?
03:03Yeah, well, a lot of issues at LSU here over the last year, Donnie.
03:08So, it's kind of hard to figure out who was doing what and where.
03:13But, you know, this was, again, the issue that we heard a lot of whispers about Brian
03:17Kelly and company, right?
03:19Where it didn't necessarily give to, you know what, about his players.
03:23And once he was gone, who knows what you had going on there at LSU.
03:27But there's no excuse for it at all.
03:30By the way, Bill Belichick used to be a maniac.
03:33And I always remember this quote here.
03:34Do you remember, Joe, before we had the slotted first-round picks?
03:36Like, you actually had to sign your player before you drafted him to make sure that it
03:40was okay and cost-effective for you.
03:41So, we'd know the first three picks in the draft before draft night because you had to
03:45negotiate those $100 million contracts.
03:47Now they're slotted.
03:48You take the player, he knows what he gets.
03:49And Bill Belichick always used to say, I'd rather have the first pick in the second round
03:53than the first pick overall.
03:55Like, that's the stupidest thing I ever heard until you realize, like, the second round
03:58guy was, like, $3 million.
03:59And the first round guy was $100 million at number one overall.
04:03But how about John Schneider saying, we'd like to trade down from 32 since we only have
04:06four picks in this year's draft.
04:07That means, Joe, trading out of 32, stacking up a couple twos and threes here, and building
04:12that team.
04:13Quote, it's no secret with us.
04:17And he's been, and who's done it better than he has over the years, right?
04:21I mean, the guy's one of the best in the NFL there.
04:25And, you know, there are guys that say, hey, I got no problem.
04:28We know what we have.
04:30We know what we need.
04:31And we're just, you know, whatever's available when we get there.
04:34That's why we're going to do it.
04:35The scouting, if you do your homework and you're good at it prior to the draft, Donnie,
04:39then the draft becomes a very simple process for guys like Schneider.
04:43Exactly.
04:44It's like, how many extra darts?
04:45Like, okay, I got one dart to throw.
04:47And the next guy goes, well, I got three darts to throw.
04:48And he'll probably beat your one dart here.
04:50That's stacking up players here that you think can help you.
04:52And again, not everybody works out in the NFL, but the more players you bring in, the
04:56more players probably have a chance to work out for you.
04:58Colts wide receiver, Alec Pierce, you know him.
05:00He got a monster contract in free agency.
05:03Four years, $114 million.
05:06But Joe, an ankle procedure that's going to keep them out three months.
05:09So he won't be at OTAs, but they say he should be ready for training camp.
05:14Well, it's funny because he's been a guy, Donnie, when, you know, he's had some injury
05:19issues the last couple of years, but there is no doubt the guy elevates that offense to
05:25another, I mean, he stretches the field.
05:26He makes big play after big play.
05:28You just gave him a boatload of money.
05:31You better make sure that he's 100% whenever he's ready to play here this year.
05:35And they're going to need him because the guy's a difference maker.
05:38We're talking in codes here for the New York Giants also, Joe.
05:41How about this?
05:42Now, let's read between the lines.
05:43The Giants have received trade calls centered around edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeau for the
05:47last few months, but is now considered less likely to move him after the team's blockbuster
05:52trade that sent Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals.
05:54I read this as we're taking calls, but everybody keeps trying to give us a fourth round draft
05:59pick here.
05:59Yeah, he's off the market because we don't want to trade him.
06:01No, he's off the market because you're not getting a first or second round pick like
06:05you wanted for him, like you got for sexy Dex.
06:09Exactly correct.
06:10Everybody's tradable though, right, Donnie?
06:12Isn't that how it is?
06:14Everybody's, provided you meet our price.
06:17If you don't meet our price, then he's not tradable then, is he?
06:21And that's kind of where we're at right now.
06:23But I do think draft night's going to be interesting as far as trades and other things go.
06:29And then the immediate aftermath of the draft is also going to be a very interesting period
06:33here.
06:34So I wouldn't say never yet.
06:36There are some teams I think that probably think they can find somebody like that in
06:41the draft, but time will tell.
06:44That's like that PR move.
06:46Like, right, we're not getting the right offers.
06:47The draft is coming up.
06:48All right, he's off the market.
06:49And then the team call.
06:50All right.
06:50What's it really going to take to get this guy so we can settle and move him out of
06:53here?
06:54We'll find out on draft night.
06:55There will be some trades that are going to be like, whoa, didn't see that one coming.
06:58Maybe Thibodeau.
06:59We should have saw coming here.
07:00How about Jimmy Garoppolo?
07:02Sometimes you look at a quarterback and be like, yeah, he played for a while.
07:04He did have some success.
07:05But success is defined as, Joe, Super Bowl championships, how many rings you put on your
07:10figure.
07:10But more importantly, how much money did you put in your bank account?
07:13Rams free agent Jimmy Garoppolo considered their top option as a backup quarterback, is
07:17now considered in retirement.
07:18Which probably means you better start upping some of that pay if you want me to come back.
07:21Jimmy G, who has started 64 games in his 12-year career.
07:25It's amazing he's been around for 12 years, has made $156 million.
07:31That's pretty good pay.
07:33Yeah.
07:34And he's and has not had to get hit an awful lot.
07:38Right, Donnie?
07:39I mean, that's amazing.
07:40He gets to, you know, he gets to sit there and date supermodels, bank $100 million and
07:45then really never even get his uniform dirty.
07:49It's kind of the biggest.
07:50It's the greatest gig I think I've ever seen anybody pull off.
07:54Who was it, Emmanuel Sanders, that he overthrew in the Super Bowl, that if he just connected
07:57there, they would have won and yet another 10-point lead for Shanahan in the Super Bowl
08:01up in smoke.
08:01It happens, I get it.
08:03But I like this one here.
08:04Remember J.J. McCarthy coming into the pros, they told you, pfft, one of the greatest leaders
08:08we've ever had.
08:09Well, granted, he might not be leading anything but the scout team.
08:11Here's Justin Jefferson talking about him.
08:13Yeah, my first reaction was just, you know, it's really good to kind of get some good talent
08:22in the room to kind of give a little spark in that room, you know, to kind of see a
08:27competitive
08:28edge and from those guys to really lock in and to, you know, do what we're expecting them
08:34to do, which is to come in and, you know, to be that guy.
08:38And, you know, we need that one guy for this team.
08:42So I'm definitely excited for that room, excited to see what those guys have in store for us
08:49in training camp.
08:50Joe, he's basically telling us, thank goodness we finally got a quarterback in this room so
08:55I can get back to being the best wide receiver in football.
08:57That's what I heard.
08:59Hilarious, Don.
09:00That might have been the best dig I have heard without actually mentioning a name or saying
09:06anything, but read between the lines.
09:09Read between the lines is right here.
09:11Kyler Murray, your starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings and their lead receiver
09:14is like, yeah, I'm good with that.
09:17Right back at it here.
09:18Prediction Markets Edge on the early line.
09:20Hot topics, Joe.
09:21Look, we like to talk about the NBA.
09:23It's pertinent tonight.
09:24We like to talk about Major League Baseball.
09:25They'll be playing tonight.
09:26NBA action, absolutely.
09:28You say, well, what about the NFL?
09:29The games aren't going to start until September.
09:31Joe, the draft is this week and we got some business to get down to with an AFC approach
09:36today.
09:37The Kansas City Chiefs, you are on the clock, Joe.
09:40And if you are the general manager, where are we going with our first position drafted
09:44here?
09:45The Chiefs, understandably, good defense.
09:47Spagnola's the defensive coordinator.
09:49Patrick Mahomes coming back from a devastating knee injury.
09:52He wants to start game number one.
09:54The one thing we've noted about the Chiefs over the past couple of years, it's like musical
09:57chairs on their offensive line.
09:59Do they go that direction?
10:01If they do, Joe, in the Kelsey marketplace, that's only listed at a 45% chance.
10:05You know the leader?
10:06Defensive line slash edge pass rusher at 70%.
10:10And that's recently in the past few days, Joe, has seen a spike there.
10:16You know, it's interesting here with Kansas City because you got to, here we are talking
10:22about drafts with Kansas City, which doesn't feel right.
10:25But, you know, they're at that point now where they do have some holes to fill.
10:29They've got some questions.
10:31And you got to believe that Andy Reid and company, they've been doing this a while.
10:36They are going to fill whatever needs they have with whoever is left on the board.
10:40They're one of those teams, Donnie, where I don't second guess it.
10:43I think they have a need.
10:45They're going to take the best player on the board, no matter who it is.
10:48The only question is, do they like somebody so much they might be willing to maybe make
10:54a move on a little earlier?
10:56Time will tell here, but I think they're just going to start plugging and playing with the
11:02best players on the board at the position the most.
11:05Roughly 45 minutes ago, Joe, defensive line slash edge pass rusher on the Kelsey marketplace
11:10was trading at 43%.
11:12Do you know what that chance is now up to, as we just talked about, Joe?
11:1670%.
11:17That's a spike in the last hour.
11:19The closer that we get toward the draft, maybe more leaks out.
11:22There's something to keep an eye on at this point.
11:24The Baltimore Ravens will do the same thing.
11:27Hey, that's Lamar Jackson on offense.
11:28Always can use a few different handy dandy toys for him.
11:31Or Jesse Minter, new head coach, defensive guy, first position drafted.
11:36Leader right now, Joe, for them, that's actually offensive line at 60%.
11:40Tight end at 22%.
11:42Wide out at 21%.
11:44But right now, Joe, leading, that's offensive line.
11:48And that makes total sense, right?
11:51Because, yes, you've got to protect Lamar Jackson here, and you haven't exactly done that all
11:57that well.
11:58Injuries have been a big problem for the Ravens offensive line-wise over the last couple of
12:02seasons, Adani.
12:03So that makes sense.
12:05But this isn't exactly a very big, heavy draft with offensive linemen here.
12:10But at the same time, I mean, they couldn't sack and get to the quarterback at all last
12:16year, which was another problem.
12:17So it would not shock me if Eric DaCosta and company there with the Ravens may decide to
12:23go.
12:24There's more defensive talent, I think, than offensive line talent.
12:27I think defense is the way they're going to go.
12:30No surprise here for the next team.
12:32And again, we're not just picking out random teams, teams that we think can excel, make
12:36a playoff run, impossible in the AFC Championship game, and into the Super Bowl.
12:39The Buffalo Bills, a lot of pressure.
12:41We saw already in hour number one.
12:43Hey, Josh Allen and the boys getting back to work, because a lot of people are going
12:46back to that mandatory off-season training.
12:48So many teams are starting that up this week, and they're focused on the Sabres.
12:52But the general manager, which is Brandon Bean, he's got to be focused on maybe improving
12:56that offense.
12:56No longer Sean McDermott, a defensive-minded head coach.
12:59It's Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator, now the head coach.
13:03You look at the Kalshi marketplace, Joe, the one position sticking out right now as the
13:07favorite.
13:07Of course, it's wide receiver, which they can't seem, quite frankly, to get right for
13:12Josh Allen.
13:1367% chance here that they pick wide receiver with their first player drafted here.
13:19What do you think about that?
13:22Well, don't forget, they did acquire DJ Moore, right, in the off-season.
13:27So they kind of went out and added that spot there.
13:32I think it's going to be interesting, because I think they need defensive help, Donnie.
13:36I think they don't know what's going on with Bosa.
13:39Is he coming back?
13:40They need some help.
13:42There are more defensive players here that are available.
13:45And I think, what, the Bills have one pick round at number 26.
13:50That might be the best available spot on the board left here.
13:55And I think there's definitely some needs on the defensive side.
13:59It's easy to think maybe they go wide receiver, but I think with the DJ Moore move, I think
14:05it could be defense here at that point in the draft.
14:09Look, when you're always in the midst of a Super Bowl run, at least you think so.
14:12You know, Buffalo hasn't gotten to a Super Bowl in a long time.
14:14You just take the best player available to help that football team.
14:17And Josh Allen eventually will figure it out.
14:19You don't want to reach.
14:19The next time you reach for a wide receiver, it was Keon Coleman.
14:22How'd that work out?
14:23Don't do it again, Buffalo.
14:24Best player available.
14:25Take him here.
14:26Cincinnati.
14:27How about this one, Joe?
14:28Well, they used the first round pick number 10 overall to say, we already want Dexter Lawrence.
14:32We're beefing up that defensive line.
14:34They still need so much help on that defense here.
14:37That, if you're looking, the first two positions that are the favorites here on the Calci marketplace
14:41for the Bengals, cornerback safety, 47%.
14:45Linebacker, 40%.
14:46It looks like Joe still, even with giving up that top pick that they had here for defensive line help,
14:51they're going to need more help on defense.
14:52And that's what the prediction markets are letting us know.
14:56Absolutely.
14:57They are going to need some secondary help, too, because that's been a big problem for them a lot.
15:04But there are some very good linebackers.
15:07I know Rodriguez, the linebacker from Tech, has been rumored here that Cincinnati really likes him.
15:13A couple of offensive linemen as well.
15:16Obviously, to protect Burrow, he can never have enough of those.
15:19But, yeah, it would not shock me if secondary is the spot that Cincinnati looks.
15:24How about the New England Patriots here, Joe, making a Super Bowl run last year,
15:28maybe need a little bit more firepower.
15:30It looks like they're probably going to get A.J. Brown, but it won't be a draft pick this year.
15:33Probably going to be next year or the year after, which means, where do they go for some help?
15:38Their offensive line rebuilt that.
15:40You've got tight ends out there that are decent.
15:42You're going to get A.J. Brown as a wide receiver.
15:44You signed Robinho Dobbs as well.
15:45Your backfield is set.
15:46Your quarterback is set, Joe.
15:47You've got to be leaning towards defense, right?
15:49Cornerback safety trading at 45% as a contract.
15:52Defensive lineman, edge, pass rusher, 59 cents here.
15:55Offensive lineman, 40 cents here.
15:57I think, Joe, they're going defense here because that offense should be able to be taken care of once they
16:02get A.J. Brown.
16:04Yeah, and it really depends.
16:05This late in the draft, right, the first round, Donnie, with where they're picking,
16:10it all depends on what happens early on.
16:14If there's a run on edge rushers or defensive guys, right, and all of a sudden now you've got nothing
16:20left but maybe some wide receivers and a tight end, well, then that's the direction you're going to go, right?
16:25You're going to pick whoever is on the board at the time.
16:28And don't discount maybe some offensive line help, too.
16:32They built that offensive line.
16:34They got some young guys, but they got to keep adding as well because that offensive line towards the end
16:41of the season wasn't doing a great job of protecting, you know, Drake May.
16:45So that also could be where they head.
16:48Could be, but that team is looking to take that next step.
16:51Got to the Super Bowl, not happy, revamping the offense, getting a good wide receiver, and away they go with
16:55Vrabel, who's having a lot of issues, to say the least, here with his football season just getting underway.
17:01But we'll be right back on PMA with more hot topics.
