00:43good start by that 37 of cole davies yeah cole got in here and he did a couple of practice

00:49he's got like a good build on that first corner but good to see him up here also got the

00:5435 drew adams coming back from injury ricky yeah great comeback for drew adams he was fast earlier
01:00today in time qualifying practice but man if i'm drew adams i want to get through here make all the
01:05laps he's had some injuries and it's great to see him up front early how about that big leap from
01:10the
01:11180 of landon gordon on the monster energy star yamaha he runs third at the moment taking over the
01:17reigns there from cayden duttony cayden's going to focus on his pro motocross championship workload
01:22as this is a wonderful opportunity for gordon yeah a great opportunity for him he gets to rock
01:26with cole davies during the week with all these guys so he should be felt pretty comfortable but
01:30he's got a couple guys looks like we got a little issue in the wolf this is what happens when
01:35you get
01:35a bad start ricky yeah that's gyoed right over there and the smx track crew if i had to guess

01:41probably put some water down in between uh opening ceremonies getting this track race ready
01:46probably got a little wheel spin bike rotates forward and over the bars he goes valentine guillot
01:51the swiss rider picks himself back up as we continue everybody here's a familiar theme everybody
01:56chasing out after cole davies yeah you can see see how much uh slippery those whoops are even those
02:02guys started losing traction but it'll get better even though it'll dry out it'll be more consistent
02:07for him right now as you mentioned you put a little bit of water down i got to deal with
02:10it but
02:11number 37 he's dealing with pulling away from these guys
02:14i love watching cole davies just uh what i love about it james is his riding style he's very neutral
02:23on the motorcycle as far as body position positioning very similar i believe to a guy like uh jet morrence
02:30yeah no i agree with you when he's out front he gets even more like that and that's what makes
02:35him really difficult because he never looks like he's rushing that's hard to put somebody in a pressure
02:39zone when they look so comfortable like that it has been a big journey and a massive commitment
02:45from the davies family of new zealand let's hear cole talk about that
02:50yeah he he hasn't been at a couple of them but he's traveled to all the other ones uh but
02:55he flies here every weekend and flies back just for a day just to watch me race so uh yeah
03:01he's got a lot
03:02going on at home that he needs to sort out and needs to be at home for but uh yeah
03:10well guys watching cole davies there i talked about the top of the show just a tremendous arc
03:15throughout his early career here but look at the top three all three of them are recent graduates of
03:21that smx next program as much as landon gordon this is his first race ever so the development
03:26is clear to see for all and cole davies is certainly leading to charge
03:32and behind cole is drew adams coming back from that thumb injury he missed the last four races
03:37so good to see the monster engine pro circuit kawasaki rider sitting in second place at the
03:42moment there he is trying to bridge that gap to race leader cole davies he's one and a half seconds
03:46behind at the moment tell us more will i just spoke to him before we got going here lee just
03:53trying to get an update on that thumb injury he did have surgery on it had to take three weeks

03:57the bike had a couple of weeks back on originally they told him eight to ten weeks they were going
04:02to put some screws in there he said just a couple of hours before surgery the surgeon said to him
04:06you know what if i put a plate in there i think we can kind of cut about four weeks
04:10off this
04:10recovery time he said yep whatever you need to do and that's him back now he did say he wanted
04:14to
04:14race last weekend but uh team owner mitch payton said no take it easy that's true racer status
04:20right there put some plates in this i can cut on about four weeks out here he looks really good
04:25we're watching these guys like cody chuck oh oh knocks cody off the track he goes through the
04:33mechanics area wow that was wild between the 492 landon hearts and cody shock aboard the 22
04:46let's have another look at that
04:49it looks like cody on this rhythm section comes up a little short slows down to get to the inside
04:54just racing incident both these guys did a good job not making that even worse but
04:59everybody's trying to fight to get to that inside just racing incident and and hearts had the momentum
05:03going to and off sequence there what what a ride though by drew adams coming back off the injury
05:11great report there by will and he's uh he's holding cole strong right here i love it
05:21yeah i like his rhythm uh down this uh inside so we'll see if he can get down the inside

05:50was in the smx futures division you think about what that has looked like the last two years for cole
05:56davies versus where drew adams right now so a little bit incentive there i feel like drew maybe have a
06:02chip on the shoulder like listen man i can be where this guy is and should be where this guy
06:06is
06:07and what ricky was referring to supercross futures is now known as smx next and the top three in this
06:13race are all graduates of that program here's another teenager we spoke about him a little earlier
06:19making his pro debut is landon gordon and doing a great job james no he's doing a great job i
06:26mean i think
06:26these whoops are really difficult for all these guys as he moves a little bit of wheel spin but
06:31nonetheless landon obviously has that has that talent and just shows you how good this program has been
06:37for all these riders they come in this ready to race ricky well and i loved what he showed us
06:42at the
06:42beginning of this race it's super easy to walk into that fall into that trap and maybe override against
06:48his team with his teammate cole davies and drew adams great composure by this young rookie
06:53there's the man who's won the last two 450 main events ken rockson the suzuki star warming up
06:59before his first heat of the night 450's not too far away on track cole davies in control and
07:08comfortable that's kind of a regular theme with this guy all bar the first event of the season from
07:14the 250 east division where he crashed then staged a remarkable comeback missed the podium that's the
07:19only time ricky this year he hasn't been on the podium well you saw him going to that rhythm lane
07:23before the whoops he shifts up two times in the air probably the fourth gear to be able to be
07:28in that
07:29perfect gear as he enters the whoops coming out of that right-handed corner
07:38they're on their way home
07:43simonson and then henry miller was a big beneficiary checkered flag is out it's another heat win to cole
07:49davies and very comfortably so as cody shock has worked his way back after he went through the
07:54mechanics area he's in sixth chasing out after henry miller devon simonson grabbed fourth behind adams and
08:01gordon top nine goes through straight through to the main event and at the moment kyle peters holds
08:07on to that ninth and final spot
