00:00Hello, welcome to the CV's Flight Channel.
00:30Pretty solid out of the gate the last few weeks.
00:32It seems like, just like we talked about Hayden Deegan so far this year, it seems like if
00:37there's ever a weakness for Cole, the next weekend that weakness is gone.
00:41He just has the ability to hone in on his mistakes, fix them, get better.
00:46He's just going to keep getting better.
00:47But so is Seth Hamaker as well.
00:49He gets into them.
00:50Oh, has he got a little fireworks going on here?
00:53Look, Seth thought that Cole Davies was going to go to the outside.
00:56Seth decided to go back to the left, to the inside.
00:58Hamaker didn't expect it, went into that turn a little bit hot, and down Hamaker goes.
01:03And look, there's always a little push and a shove.
01:05And these first couple laps in qualifying, especially when you have the guy that's one
01:09and two in this championship, these guys are, you're trying to get every little bit you can.
01:14But watch Cole Davies.
01:15He's on the inside.
01:17Seth thinks he's going to go back to the outside right there on the right side of your screen,
01:21but he elects to go back to the inside.
01:23Seth just wasn't expecting him.
01:24Yeah, he really wasn't.
01:25He just grabbed a handful of gas coming out of the sand.
01:28And you could tell he just didn't have enough time to get stopped.
01:31No harm, no foul.
01:32It is hard to start your practice off that way, though.
01:36Sometimes it does.
01:37For a rider like Seth, we talk about his mentality, how strong it is all the time.
01:41He'll be just fine.
01:43But it's sometimes when you don't have a good time on the board,
01:46especially when the track is a little faster than it was in Q1,
01:49it can kind of make you not panic, but speed up your process a little bit.
01:54So important to just take a lap, gather yourself, take a breath, and go back to work.
01:58Seth Hamaker has qualified fastest six times in his career.
02:02Three of those times have been this year.
02:04Indy, Birmingham, and Detroit, he was fastest.
02:07So look, we talk about how fast this guy is, the number 37 of Cole Davies.
02:10But Seth Hamaker, he's got a lot of speed as well.
02:12He does, and really, the steps that he's taken, like, he is just, he is a championship guy now.
02:19He's a race-winning guy now.
02:20And going into 2025, he really had won a couple times, but he really hadn't proven that that was him.
02:27So, yes, Cole Davies has been incredible this year, but Seth Hamaker, man, he has come a long, long way.
02:34He was also one of those young riders that had a tough string of injuries,
02:39a lot of time off the bike, and key developmental years.
02:43So I love what Seth's been able to do.
02:44I think something we really need to pay attention to, Adam, you hit on this earlier today,
02:48was Cole Davies' advantage in the whoops is oftentimes from the middle of the turn to the first whoop, his
02:54entry speed.
02:55Today, with the acceleration chop out of that turn, the whoops are a little bit tighter to the corner than
02:59we've seen all season long.
03:01He's not able to build that momentum up and build that speed into the whoops.
03:04That's why I think Seth could maybe bridge that gap here today.
03:07I also think over the course of the main event, the corner is going to get smaller and smaller.
03:12So if they do groom the turn for lap one of the main, it'll be easier to go around the
03:17top of the turn,
03:18just like Cody Shock just did, and carry some speed into the whoops.
03:22But as the track breaks down, it's going to be less and less speed in the whoops,
03:26and less and less of an advantage for Cole Davies.
03:28Seth Hamaker on top so far, 52.8.
03:31Cole Davies and Cody Shock are in the top three right there.
03:34His shot goes inside, then he's going to elect to go outside there.
03:37I wonder if those are starting to even out.
03:39I've been seeing a lot of riders use that outside.
03:41Once they added that roller in the inside of the sand, it seems like it opened that next corner up
03:47a little bit.
03:48Also, keep in mind, on the first lap of a main event, a lot of times the track crew will
03:53smooth out those inside runs.
03:55So you kind of, you got to get a feel for those outsides as well, because right off the bat,
04:00that may not be the play.
04:01Four minutes into this qualifying session, and no one has beat Cole Davies' fast time overall so far.
04:08About 52.7, they are close.
04:10I have a feeling they're going to get down closer to the 51s as they learn this track.
04:14Cody Shock all the way around, tries to get some entry speed down the left side of the whoops right
04:18here,
04:18and it's tough to get that triple, triple, which is going to be the fast line all night long.
04:23You got to try to get enough speed.
04:25You got to try to get enough speed coming into the whoops that you can go down to half throttle,
04:30quarter throttle,
04:31because you saw Cody Shock right there.
04:33Came in okay, but just started getting a bunch of wheel spin.
04:36Kept opening the gas up more.
04:38The more he spun, the slower he went.
04:41So very important to come in fast enough to where you can just keep it very low in the RPM
04:47in fourth gear on these 250s.
04:49He was able to get triple onto that tabletop before the finish.
04:52I've noticed a lot of guys doing double, double, triple.
04:54Do you think they learned something back at the truck?
04:56I think so.
04:58I don't know if Cole is on a fast lap right now or if he's just checking it out,
05:01but I definitely don't like, as he does that big triple into the sand,
05:07I definitely don't like singling into a corner before the whoops.
05:11There's just so many things going on.
05:13Often you got to grab a couple gears coming out of the turn.
05:16So it just kind of makes you hesitate a little bit when you're singling into the turn.
05:21Nate Thrasher on your screen.
05:23Qualified seventh here in 2024.
05:25Got a top five a week ago at the showdown.
05:27He goes triple.
05:28And I love the line off the triple.
05:30He got all the way back to the far right, opened up the radius,
05:33went to the low rut in the turn, was able to carry his speed.
05:36This is the Nate Thrasher I was expecting to see at round one.
05:40He's got a good lap going right here.
05:42His seat bounces, triples in, goes to the outside.
05:45Let's see what he does in this next left-hand turn.
05:47Does he go to the berm?
05:48He does.
05:48That run right there looks nice, though.
05:50It does.
05:52That's one that makes us want to put our helmet on and go out there and spin a couple laps.
05:55Can I go around the sand section before it, though?
05:58Yeah, you can if you want.
05:59I'll go around the whoops.
06:00You go around the sand.
06:01Nate Thrasher put down a fast one.
06:0352.6.
06:05As he goes to second, Cole Davies still on top.
06:0852.4.
06:09That's from this session right here.
06:10That bettered his 52.7 from Q1 earlier today.
06:14So, Nate Thrasher, could he be the guy that gets up there and disrupts this championship
06:19battle between Cole Davies and Seth Hamaker?
06:22Or could it be this man, Devin Simonson, on your screen?
06:25He's top five right now, 53.8.
06:27That Club MX Yamaha looks like he's setting up a fast lap right here.
06:30So, let's ride with the Club MX rider, Devin Simonson.
06:34It's been a career year for Devin.
06:36He's going to go double, triple right here.
06:38Oh, he comes up short right there.
06:40He landed off that first double, grabbed a handful of gas, and the front end actually
06:45popped up on him.
06:46He kind of wheelied into the face on accident.
06:49Didn't get the lift.
06:50See him shaking it out right there.
06:52Those ones hurt, especially when the dirt is as hard pack as it is.
06:56Those cases, you feel it.
06:58See right here, he doubles in, gets on a handful of gas, and you see the front wheel just came
07:02up ever so slightly.
07:04Luckily, gets his front wheel over it.
07:07No harm, no foul there.
07:09He's all good.
07:10It's amazing how good these motorcycles are to absorb that impact.
07:14But take a look at the left-hand side of your screen.
07:16Landon Gordon, that Monster Energy Yamaha star racing rider in his first ever supercross.
07:21is in the top five right now with a 53.7.
07:24I love that pass in the booth for Drew Adams.
07:27He's a very tall rider.
07:29Put on a lot of weight and a lot of height in his first in the last couple years, really.
07:34So I imagine as somebody that's been through that process before, he's still trying to
07:38figure out how to get the most out of himself as a bit of a taller rider.
07:42But you see him using his leverage really well through the whoops.
07:44Able to get that triple onto the tabletop.
07:46Let's see what this time is for Drew Adams.
07:48He goes to fourth, 53.0, so a solid time.
07:54Seth Hamaker on your screen right now.
07:56We've talked oftentimes about his corner speed.
07:59See him low right there going into the whoops.
08:02I love that.
08:03That was a great pass as well.
08:05And if he can do that every time because he's low in the turn, he's safe.
08:08And I know Seth.
08:09I know what he's thinking.
08:11He's not as fast in the whoops, of course.
08:13But if you can make the corner before it a little bit faster than Cole Davies, it's
08:18going to buy him a little bit of leeway there in the whoops.
08:21Guys, this is a great lap time here so far.
08:24Is this one going to go to the top?
08:25Let's see what Seth Hamaker throws down.
08:28He goes to the top, 51.6.
08:31That was fast.
08:32Wow.
08:32Very fast.
08:34That was awesome.
08:35What he did through the sand right there.
08:37You see Land Gordon going through the sand.
08:39But what Seth was able to do, triple to the inside, I think that's where he made up a
08:43lot of that time to get a 51.6.
08:45And really, it was one of the best whoop passes I've seen from him all year.
08:50Just opened that corner up, threeed into the turn, stayed low.
08:54You see Landon Gordon here.
08:55Goes a little long in that first double.
08:57Still able to get over the tabletop.
08:59That's a pretty big jump right there.
09:01The three over the tabletop off the five-footer.
09:03That's a lot of hang time.
09:04Well, this is an impressive debut so far.
09:06To be sixth overall right now, 53.7 for the rookie of Landon Gordon.
09:12And there's so much pressure on these guys to perform.
09:15And think about the nerves that he's dealing with right now.
09:18Gordon's got two SMX Next wins and nine podiums.
09:22So there's no doubt he's ready for this.
09:23Oh, there's no doubt.
09:24He's so solid.
09:25He's so solid and consistent for a young rider.
09:28Really doesn't make a lot of mistakes.
09:30There's times in the past I've thought he's needed a little bit more just straight-up raw speed.
09:36But very solid and consistent.
09:38And I think he's a guy that can come out here, get a solid result.
09:41And once the confidence comes around, then we'll start to see more of that raw speed.
09:46Nate Thrasher, third so far, 52.2.
09:49Drew Adams is fourth.
09:50Daxton Benick is fifth.
09:52Like we mentioned, Landon Gordon there in sixth.
09:54But Seth Hamaker still on top, 51.6.
09:57That's a fast time.
09:58That is a fast time, a few tenths better than your championship points leader, Cole Davies.
10:03Looks like Nate Thrasher is setting up a fast lap.
10:05And is Davies on a fast one right here?
10:07This is where I think Seth made up a lot of time.
10:09It's much faster to go to that inside right there.
10:11But it's really difficult to triple to the inside.
10:14But let's see what Davies does here.
10:16His best is a 51.9.
10:18Needs a few tenths to better.
10:20Number 10 is Seth Hamaker.
10:21Let's see what he does.
10:22Does Cole go to the top?
10:25He doesn't.
10:2751.9.
10:29So came up a little bit short there.
10:31And I think you're right, JB.
10:32I think the three inside into the sand and just the corner before the loops for Seth Hamaker was so
10:38good.
10:39Take a look on top right there.
10:4151.5.
10:42If the 51.6 wasn't enough for Seth Hamaker, that was fastest.
10:46He said, you know what?
10:47I'm going to better it by one tenth of a second and go faster even more.
10:5151.5.
10:52Seth Hamaker is here to play here today in Nashville.
10:56And I think it's important because clearly over the past few weeks, Cole has had the speed advantage.
11:01So I think this is a great mental win if he's able to pull it off in qualifying here.
11:06A great mental win to let Davies know, hey, I'm still here.
11:10I'm going to pull out all the stops to try to win this thing.
11:12We know how close Seth was last year.
11:15You just got to think that experience keeps getting better.
11:19It's still a fight, JB.
11:21Well, you think about how this session started for Seth Hamaker.
11:24He hole shots, he's out front, Cole Davies gets past him.
11:27Then he runs into the back of Cole Davies.
11:28Down he goes from that to now, throwing down these times of a 51.5 and his second best being
11:33a 51.6.
11:35As Romano on your screen throws down a pretty good one.
11:37He's eighth right now, 53.8.
11:42Is Cole on another one?
11:44Looks like he's got one more chance to do it.
11:4630 seconds left remaining.
11:48Here we go.
11:49Let's go for a long, let's go for a ride with the championship points leader, Cole.
11:54Davies, can he go fastest?
11:57He needs four-tenths of a second to do so.
12:00Looks like they figured out that this 2-2-3 is the line through that rhythm.
12:04Does the same line as Seth going into the whoops, but I agree with you.
12:09Watching Seth's pass in the whoops compared to what Cole just did, to me, it's pretty similar.
12:14See, Cole made a little mistake there, tried to go inside, cut off some track before the wall.
12:20But he just, when you're going through a deep sand section like that, you want to be going as straight
12:25as possible.
12:26You don't want to be on lean angle.
12:28As you see Seth in the bottom right-hand side of your screen, do that triple in, nails the corner
12:32perfectly.
12:34He's not satisfied.
12:35He's not.
12:36He's not done.
12:37I'm here for it.
12:38Folks, 51.5 and Seth Hamaker wants more.
12:41Let's see what this last time around is going to put him at.
12:45Seth Hamaker does a 52.2.
12:48So he's.
