There haven't been many "feel-good" moments for the Warriors this season, but Moses Moody’s appearance at Chase Center on crutches changed that. Steiny and Evan Giddings discuss the "Loon-level" respect Moody has earned in the Bay Area. They also dive into the X’s and O’s of the Warriors-Kings matchup, including Draymond Green’s reaction to a very questionable coaching decision by the Kings.

00:00But you and I were both at the Warriors game, and I got to ask, I've never sat in a
00:04box or a suite.
00:06I don't know whatever you call it because it's kind of bougie.
00:09First of all, what do you call it, and how was it?
00:11It's a suite, and it was a fun game.
00:14You know, just had a good time with Goo and a few other people.
00:21Marcy went to her first game, first Warrior game last night.
00:24Nice, Marcy Weiser coming out.
00:26Well, I expect you guys to talk about that on Friday then.
00:28Yeah, we could probably talk about that.
00:32But, you know, the best moment of the night, by far, was Moses Moody's standing ovation.
00:40What was that, in the first quarter or before the game?
00:44I think it was after half.
00:45Okay, so neither.
00:47But you were in the house, though.
00:48Yeah.
00:49You saw that.
00:50Yeah, it was pretty cool.
00:51He was standing in the tunnel with crutches, and they introduced him, and the crowd went crazy.
00:58And Moses got very, very emotional.
01:01And it was just a cool moment.
01:03Real cool moment for the Warrior fans to show their appreciation for Moses Moody.
01:07He's a fan favorite.
01:10Well, it was also a classic Moses moment because you could tell that he wanted to be out there with
01:16his team,
01:17but he also knew it really wasn't his place, right?
01:20He kind of, you know, I don't know what he was there for.
01:22Maybe it was a checkup.
01:23Maybe it was just to, you know, behind the scenes, before the game, after the game, give his team some
01:28support.
01:29But he never left the tunnel.
01:31You know, he didn't want to be out on the court.
01:33And once everybody saw that Moses was on the big screen and kind of got wind, literally as one,
01:41all of Dub Nation at Chase Center stood up and applauded him.
01:44It was really—there haven't been many moments like that this season, honestly.
01:48And I think it just—it kind of confirms how I felt when Moses got hurt in that Jimmy Butler's injury
01:55was obviously more impactful.
01:57It hurt the Warriors' chances to contend more so than Moses'.
02:00But I don't think that there's been a shot to the heart, like a dagger to the cardiac muscle to
02:08take a turn from goo,
02:10than Moses Moody hurting his knee against the Dallas Mavericks.
02:14Because you could just tell that when everybody saw him, it was like—it was one of the more feel-good
02:20moments of the season.
02:21And you could tell it hit him the way it did because he was kind of tapping his chest.
02:26It looked like he might have been holding back some sort of emotions.
02:29And he wasn't trying to make it about himself, but that's why Moses Moody is who he is.
02:33Because he didn't have to, and Dub Nation did it for him.
02:37Yeah, and we've actually been talking a lot about the fans and their, you know, reaction to certain Bay Area
02:42players.
02:43And, you know, you know who I'm referencing.
02:46I'm not going to bring up the name.
02:49It's not Voldemort.
02:51No, but I do have, like—
02:53You could say it.
02:54Let me—but here, I'm just going to ask a simple question.
02:58And it's this.
03:00All right, so, you know, Moses Moody's been around for, what, four or five years?
03:04He's been a solid role player, hard worker, pretty humble.
03:12And maybe I'm answering my own question, but, like, why did he get such an emotional response last night?
03:21A guy like Moses Moody.
03:23I could see—and I'm not saying he shouldn't have, but, you know, I had to bring up,
03:28what if that had been somebody else who had been hurt and was standing in that tunnel?
03:32What would the reaction have been?
03:34And I guess my question is, okay, clearly Moses Moody is really well-liked and well-respected by this fan
03:44base.
03:44And what—you know, what is it about Moses Moody that people gravitate towards?
03:51He's—he's not, you know, he's not overly charismatic.
03:54He's pretty humble.
03:56And maybe, again, maybe that's it, that he just goes to work every day and shows up and does his
04:03job.
04:04But I do think there's something more with Moses Moody and why people like him.
04:10And I do think it extends to, dare I say them, Pujemski and Kaminga in that, you know,
04:17Moody's just so low-maintenance.
04:19I think there's something about that that people really appreciate.
04:23Yeah, I think no matter who you like and who you don't like on the Warriors or—
04:27excuse me, a player who's been on the Warriors like Kaminga,
04:30Moses has always seemed to just kind of be in the background.
04:35Right.
04:35He's always done his job.
04:36I mean, Moses Moody's a—he's a blue-collar guy.
04:39And I think people respect those that don't draw attention to themselves and earn everything they get.
04:49You know, it's a very old-school type approach.
04:51I wish—I honestly wish I had more of that.
04:54Like, I think—and I think maybe that's what it said, too, as I'm talking out loud.
04:57Everyone wishes that they could have a little more of Moses Moody in them.
05:01You know what I mean?
05:02I mean, he's so young and yet has such an understanding of who he is
05:07and seems very comfortable in his own skin.
05:10Like, he doesn't have to prove that he's a better basketball player
05:13or human being or friend or teammate.
05:16He just is very much genuinely himself, and that's good enough.
05:21And so I think people respect that, especially—he doesn't throw it in anybody's face.
05:25He doesn't try and be more than who he is.
05:30And I think that's a quality that everyone wants in some way, shape, or form.
05:34It's a big reason why they respect him.
05:36Yeah, this—from the YouTube chat, Ramsey Coloma.
05:41Moody has that loony respect level.
05:44Yeah, I kind of think he's getting there.
05:47He's getting there in terms of, you know, turning into that kind of veteran player.
05:53I don't know.
05:53I just thought it was a great moment.
05:56It was a touching moment, and just kind of on the heels of everything that's happened
06:02with how, you know, Pods has been treated, and we've talked about that.
06:09Just want to say that that last night—and, you know, one of the things we've talked about is,
06:13you know, don't tell people how to be fans.
06:15Okay, I get that.
06:16But if I think fans are out of line, I'll say I think fans are out of line.
06:22Last night was about as good as it gets, and that was a great moment.
06:28Moses Moody deserved it, and I'm just, you know, just wondering, you know,
06:32what it is about Moses Moody that makes every—like, every Warrior fan, I think, likes and respects him.
06:40And, you know, he's done that in, what, five years since he's been here,
06:45and he hasn't been a superstar, and yet he's developed some kind of relationship with these fans that's pretty good.
06:53And I'll bet it's going to get a lot better when he comes back after this injury, when I know
06:57he will.
06:58Well, and I also think, too, it's interesting because people bring him Looney,
07:02and I think that's a fair comparison, but, you know, to be fair,
07:06Looney had a major part in three championships.
07:09Right.
07:09And he's a homegrown guy.
07:11He's developed.
07:11He's soft-spoken.
07:13He's the dude, as you've described, as being someone who would help you change the tire on your car.
07:18But he also contributed a lot to winning.
07:20Not that Moses hasn't, but he didn't really play a lot in the 22 team.
07:26You know, he hasn't been in a bunch of big playoff games, and when he has, it doesn't—
07:31like, I can't recall one big playoff moment that Moses Moody has really had.
07:35So I think it's interesting that people have—in spite of that,
07:38especially based on the high standards that Warriors fans understandably have for their team
07:42and their players, that they've wrapped their arms around him.
07:45And the coolest part to me about the ovation last night, Stiney, is that it did feel like a two
07:51-way street.
07:52You know, for example, I think fans would have applauded Jimmy Butler if and when he gets to chase center.
07:59You know, if he comes out and he's in his cast, I think people are going to give him a
08:02standing O.
08:03Right.
08:03But Jimmy Butler would not be touched by the fans the way that Moses Moody clearly was last night.
08:12And that, to me, is, I think, the difference in the relationship between someone like he
08:16and whether it's Pods or Kaminga or Jimmy or anybody else on this team.
08:22Moses Moody clearly felt touched by what the fans gave him last night.
08:26Right. And again, we've done the fan police thing, but fans deserve an applause for how they made him feel,
08:33how they made him clearly feel last night.
08:35Yeah. Nice job. Nice job by everybody involved.
08:38It was a good moment.
08:40And it's just—it's also—it was really cool to see Moses acknowledge that what the crowd was doing
08:45clearly meant something to him.
08:48Now, did that game mean something or anything to the Sacramento Kings?
08:51It meant something to Sacramento.
08:53We can get into that on the other side.
08:57The number's 888-957-9570.
09:00If you were at the game and you saw the Moses Moody interaction or you even saw it on TV,
09:08you know, this is a day to kind of appreciate him for what he's gone through, what he's done.
09:13But we've got to also get into the game itself.
09:15Curry played, so that's two games in a row for Steph.
09:19He had two four-point plays in that game.
09:22And we've got to talk about—we've got to talk about the intentional foul
09:27and Draymond Green's comments after the game.
09:31The Warriors are down one in a close game with three minutes and 15 seconds left.
09:37In the bonus.
09:38In the bonus.
09:39Listen, Doug Christie tells Dougie McBuckets, McDermott, to foul Seth Curry intentionally, and he does.
09:48And Fitz and Kalena were miffed, and it was strange.
09:54And Seth Curry didn't end up making two of the free throws, which is surprising because he's a great free
09:59throw shooter.
09:59But it's something that caught Draymond Green's attention, and maybe rightfully so.
10:06And we can get into that on the other side.
10:08Real quick, son.
10:08You know what I thought in that moment?
10:10That's how you know Doug McDermott is a coach's son.
10:16He is—like, that's the most coachable thing that you can do because every single ounce in your basketball body is
10:22telling you that is a mistake.
10:24But your coach said foul him, and Doug McDermott, whose dad, I believe, is still the head coach at Creighton,
10:29he fouled him.
10:31Yep.
10:31Like father, like son.
10:33You know, they can follow directions.
