00:00It's not going to go well for Quentin Post.
00:05Really?
00:07Look.
00:08Hi, this is Quentin Post.
00:10This is a nice kid.
00:12And I know they've been looking really hard for years and years for a stretch big.
00:18Guess what?
00:19They have two other ones now.
00:20And I know that Al Horford is really old.
00:24And I know that Kristaps Porzingis is potentially not going to be on the team next year.
00:30So, I'm not saying, like, release him or whatever.
00:33But I am saying after two basketball games of seeing that the skill set that Charles Bassey,
00:38who had been tearing it up in the G League, seeing what he brings, which is a very different sort
00:43of a vibe.
00:44And it's something that I think Warrior fans have been longing for.
00:48And the Warriors as a team have been missing.
00:50He is a real effort guy down low.
00:53And he can protect the rim.
00:54It looks like he plays pretty good defense.
00:57He finishes nicely around the rim.
01:00He's just one of those guys.
01:02He's a good rebounder.
01:04He's an effort guy who brings a physical presence inside.
01:09And defensively, my apologies, Quentin Post is not good.
01:14He's not good.
01:16And his three-point shot.
01:17Can you pull this up?
01:18What is Quentin shooting from three so far this year?
01:22I think it's down from last year.
01:24And it is coming right up here.
01:28He's at 39.3.
01:31Is he really?
01:32Yeah.
01:32That surprises me.
01:33That was not my perception.
01:36Oh, I apologize.
01:36That was LJ Cryer.
01:38He's at 33.6.
01:39I need a bigger font.
01:41That feels more like it.
01:42Which is not disastrous, but it's not good.
01:46It's not good.
01:47And so, if he's not going to be hitting threes with what he doesn't bring on the defensive side,
01:52I don't even know if he's going to be healthy by next week.
01:55But I would much, much, much right now, I would much rather see Charles Bassey on this team than Quentin
02:00Post.
02:01Quentin Post had a team option this year.
02:03He's unsigned for next year.
02:05So, you probably will get your wish.
02:07If Porzingis comes back.
02:09That's not my wish, but I'm just saying.
02:10Yeah, I know.
02:11And that was the wrong way to put it.
02:12I like Bassey better than Post right now for this team.
02:15It makes me think about a good bullpen where, and you always talk about Frisbee guy.
02:20And my father-in-law, you know, called Rogers Frisbee guy because of the way he threw from the submarine
02:26position.
02:27But the more different pitchers you have, arm angle, stuff, lefty, righty, that can be more effective when you want
02:34to mix and match.
02:34And it's the same with your bigs.
02:36If you have Chris Stapps at 7'3", who's a true stretch five.
02:40If you've got Al Horford maybe for another year as a veteran stretch five who can also rim protect.
02:47And then you add in Charles Bassey, bouncy Bassey, as Kalena Azubuki called him.
02:52And I'm just getting to know his game.
02:53But he reminds me of a little, of a more skilled JaVale McGee in the, just like the crazy athleticism.
03:01But Bassey can actually get it and score in the low block.
03:04Not bad.
03:05The double-double last night.
03:07Yeah.
03:07You know, I know that last night was maybe only sort of kind of like an NBA game in terms
03:13of who they were playing and how they handled it and all of that.
03:16But what did he finish with?
03:18I know he had a double-double.
03:20Bassey last night finished with...
03:2414 and 12.
03:2514 and 12.
03:26A couple of blocks.
03:27Two steals, two blocks.
03:29Four of his 12 rebounds were offensive rebounds.
03:32And in a five-point win, he was plus nine.
03:35I like him.
03:36It's early.
03:38You're liking him early.
03:39But I like him.
03:40Yeah, and you could probably get him for a very, very low number.
03:45And so when you start to look at next year and how you're going to fill out spots 10 through
03:4915, he's a very intriguing piece.
03:52And one that I think you'd like to keep because he's only 25 and he's the kind of player that
03:58you don't have on the roster right now.
03:59Yeah, that's one thing that hit me last night.
04:03I don't know where this whole thing is heading, but in a perfect world.
04:08And actually, let me ask you this.
04:10And then we're going to go to the phones.
04:11Jeff, stay right there.
04:12You'll be first up.
04:12888-957-9570.
04:15If everybody got healthy at the right time, who do you want to appear in this game next Tuesday or
04:22Wednesday?
04:23Who do you want the minutes to go to?
04:26Like actually in the rotation for the Warriors next week.
04:30And you mean like realistically healthy?
04:32Yes.
04:32So Jimmy and Moses?
04:33No, no, no, no, no.
04:34Not them.
04:34Yeah, okay.
04:35Steph and Al and Kristaps and Guy.
04:38And Draymond and Pods, of course.
04:42No, I was throwing out the names of like who I want healthy and available next week.
04:46Right.
04:47Okay.
04:47And then Melton, GP2, and Will Richard and probably Bassey.
04:54That was a lot of names.
04:55It's about 10.
04:56Might be too many.
04:57Well, you got Steph, Kristaps, Draymond, Al, Pods, and Melton, GP2, Guy, and Will.
05:05That's nine.
05:06Pat Spencer's 10 and Bassey would be 11.
05:08So you may have to play a Warrior Survivor with some of those last couple.
05:13And that's not including Seth Curry, which I would put Seth further down than, I mean,
05:19even Pat Spencer.
05:20Pat has a real hard time on the defensive end, but he's a guy who offensively, he's pretty good.
05:26He barely came off the floor last night.
05:28Yeah.
05:29He had 41 minutes.
05:30Man.
05:32Part of that's because the Steph minutes are limited.
05:34Yeah.
05:35But I don't know who of the 11 you'd want to take out because, as I said about Charles Bassey,
05:39he does something that nobody else named can do.
05:43Yeah, and if Horford plays, I got to think those minutes would be pretty, pretty limited.
05:48Potentially.
05:49I mean, who's the starting lineup?
05:51Is everybody healthy?
05:53Are you Steph, Kristaps, Draymond?
05:59Is it Pajemski?
06:02And, I don't know.
06:07Good stuff.
06:08Melton?
06:08Probably Guy, honestly.
06:10Guy?
06:10Yeah.
06:11Guy at the three.
06:12Okay.
06:13And, you know, Melton maybe instead of Pods, although, you know, depends on.
06:18Interchangeable.
06:19I mean, they're both going to get a lot of minutes.
06:21One's going to be off the bench.
06:23One's not.
06:23Yeah.
06:24The one who might miss out would be Will Richard or Gary Payton II because there's games where
06:30GP2 only plays four minutes.
06:31Just depends on the matchups, you know?
06:34888-957-9570.
06:35Shortly, we will circle back to what happened last night that really set Draymond off.
06:41There are aspects of it that we both like.
06:44There is one aspect of it that I'm not a huge fan of.
06:47We'll get to that in a second.
06:48Jeff in the city here on Witheredon Dibbs.
06:50Hi, Jeff.
06:50Thanks for the call.
06:53Yeah.
06:54Thanks for having me on.
06:55First time caller, long-time listener.
06:58I've been in the Bay about 10 years.
06:59Thanks, Jeff.
07:01I'm from SoCal, and I normally am just now coming around to the Bay Area teams and stuff,
07:06and that was BS for that guy to do that, man.
07:09He seems to be the team leader and, like, one of the captains and so up with Steph and
07:14everything.
07:15Why would he even go there with the whole, the fan base is the most important thing when
07:20you're a star, you know?
07:21They come out to see you, and it's like, that bugged me as well.
07:25So, anyway, I just wanted to say you're spot on for that.
07:27But, and I like listening to you guys.
07:30You guys are pretty funny, and I'll definitely be calling the game.
07:33Thanks a lot.
07:34All right.
07:34Thanks, Jeff.
07:35Appreciate it.
07:35Appreciate that.
07:36And what Jeff is referring to is the one, and this is, it's intricate because I don't
07:43think Draymond told any lies last night.
07:46I just had to be honest that as a Warrior fan, that wasn't the best feeling when he
07:52sort of said it the way that he said it with regard to next week's play-in.
07:55It's not exciting.
07:57It's not.
07:58But, you know, I'm a competitor, so going to the game, I'm going to do all I can to
08:01win, but it's not that exciting.
08:03Do you think he'll be excited next week when you have two do-or-die road games that, you
08:07know, they'll be on big stages?
08:08Well, listen, you go on the road in a game that you need to win, I think, you know, as
08:14a
08:14competitor, you're going to rise to the challenge, you know?
08:17But I'm not going to sleep tomorrow night like, man, we got this play-in next week.
08:21Got to get my rest right now.
08:22It ain't that exciting.
08:23I get it.
08:24I know the Warrior fan base largely will agree because it's hard to get excited about the
08:29play-in tournament when you are coming out of what has been called a fading dynasty.
08:35And he also said that he won't go to bed tonight and think about the play-in next week,
08:40and that's fair.
08:41I mean, you know, ah, play-in next week, I can't wait.
08:45What you're saying is not totally wrong, but I am with him.
08:49I think the play-in is kind of concocted and cockamamie.
08:54I don't think that it serves the purpose that they initially wanted it to.
08:57And Mark Spears earlier said he believes that they created it for Zion, to get Zion into
09:02the bubble, which I thought was interesting because at the time, Zion was the bee's knees.
09:07He was very popular, and now he can't stay healthy enough to be a fan favorite.
09:11I just thought that there's a fan piece to that, and that's what we as fans do.
09:19We buy into this whole show.
09:22Like, it's so funny that we talk about what does excite us and what doesn't and what does
09:27matter and what doesn't.
09:29Well, none of it matters, matters.
09:31Like, the Warriors won four championships.
09:34What did you get out of it?
09:36Uh, four parades.
09:37Did you get any money?
09:39Did you, did they come to your house?
09:42Like...
09:42I got lifetime memories.
09:44Did you get any free...
09:44Okay, sure.
09:45I got to tail after GP2 when he was shirtless with, uh, Hennessy last parade.
09:50Yeah, so I'm not...
09:50That was fun.
09:51I'm not poo-pooing it.
09:52I'm actually doing the opposite.
09:53What I'm trying to tell you is I'm into it when you all try, period.
09:58So, let's ride.
09:59And, and then the second piece of it is what surprised me about Draymond saying that is
10:07it's in the shadow of everything that Steph Curry just tried to do.
10:11He's been two months working his way back through what he has called one of the most frustrating
10:17injuries of his career, all to come back for what they have referred to as meaningful basketball.
10:23And that meaningful basketball starts next Tuesday and Draymond just poo-pooed it.
10:30He did.
10:31Right.
10:32I don't...
10:32He poo-pooed it, I think, in a idea, in a construct because...
10:37What do you mean by that?
10:38Like, he looked at the fact that if they lose 15 in a row, they're still the 10th seed.
10:42And so, that basically means that these games that are leading to the play-in, they didn't
10:47really matter.
10:48And also, I think that he was saying that it's not that exciting.
10:52I heard him say that relative to what is exciting and what he's done in 169 playoff games.
10:59So...
11:00Yeah.
11:01I mean, it's a little bit...
11:02He poo-pooed it, but I don't think that he...
11:05The message I received was not, I'm not going to be up for it.
11:09He even said, you know, he would be up for it.
11:10I know he'll play hard.
11:11I do not worry about Draymond playing hard.
11:14I'm not calling for some sort of discipline or apology or anything like that.
11:21I just didn't think that it felt very good.
11:24Because whether or not this Warrior season ends in a title or anything else, you know,
11:31next week is...
11:32Well, let's put it this way.
11:34It's all we got.
11:35That's all we got.
11:36That's right.
11:37So, you know what I mean?
11:38I am excited to buy it.
11:40I am excited to see if Steph can will this team into the playoffs.
11:44Let's see it.
11:45We've actually watched Steph and Kristaps play one time.
11:49One time they've played together.
11:51And they may well be the future.
11:54They may well be the near-term future.
11:56They may be the one and two on this team in October.
12:00Possible.
12:01Like, maybe even probable.
12:03Depending on what he wants to do contract-wise, but...
12:06And if there's anybody else in the picture.
12:08Right.
12:08But Jimmy's not going to be back.
12:09And so, these guys...
12:11Like, let's not leave him out of this.
12:13What's Porzingis been doing?
12:16He worked his butt off.
12:17And Rick Celebrini's the goat so that he can actually start stacking games.
12:21And he's doing it.
12:22He's doing it.
12:23He's starting to stack not all of them, but he's stacking most of them.
12:27And Steph got back.
12:28And that's meaningful basketball.
12:30And I know that Draymond was tired.
12:32And I know that he was annoyed.
12:33Oh, super annoyed.
12:34Some of the other stuff that had happened last night.
12:38But don't say you're not excited when we're excited.
12:42I mean, he's got to speak his truth.
12:44Yeah.
12:44And, you know, right now, in that moment, I'm sure he wasn't excited.
12:48And he got a win over a Sacramento team that basically wanted to lose more than the Warriors
12:53wanted to win.
12:54Yep.
12:54And he said what he said.
12:55And I'm with him 100%.
12:57And so, it doesn't bother me at all that he said that he's not excited.
13:01Because after a game that ends like that, and you still have three more games to go, and
13:06then you go to Portland for the play-in, or maybe it's L.A., I get it.
13:10In the moment, when he runs out there after introductions and the ball goes up, he'll be
13:15excited because it's Draymond.
13:16I don't know.
13:17Yeah, it didn't bother me at all.
13:19No, I get that.
13:20And, again, I'm not losing sleep over it either.
13:23I just don't.
13:23It's not.
13:24As a Warrior fan, it's not what I wanted to hear.
13:27And he didn't even phrase it that way, where he's talking about if he's excited.
13:31He said it's not exciting.
13:33Like, he just, let's call it what it is, and you agree with that, and that's fine.
13:38He crapped on the play-in tournament.
13:40Yes.
13:40And that's fine.
13:41I like the play-in tournament.
13:44I do.
13:46Like, they are elimination games.
13:50Hell, this would have been a great follow-up for Draymond.
13:53You know what a really, really, and I didn't think of it until just now.
13:56So, I'm not coming down any other media person's road.
13:59But do you know what would have been a really interesting follow-up to Draymond saying,
14:05I'm not excited about the play-in or it's not exciting.
14:09Are you thankful for it?
14:11Because if it didn't exist, your season's over on Sunday.
14:15And Steph Curry just worked his way to get back for this.
14:18So, like, do you not have any thankfulness, or what word would you use, Draymond,
14:27to describe the fact that your season does not end on Sunday?
14:32Well, I think he said what he really feels, which is it's not that exciting.
14:36And if you're the 7, you have a different feeling than if you're the 10.
14:39The 10 has only made it into the playoffs one time out of the 10 seed.
14:44And I think that is 10 instances now going back to the inception.
14:49And so, yeah, you can be, like, hopeful.
14:52And he's very understanding about the association more than I ever will be.
14:56And so, you're the 10.
14:58And you can't be the 11.
15:00And so, a little bit like the talking head song, Road to Nowhere.
15:03Right now, he's on a road to nowhere.
15:05You're going to play game 80, and L.A. doesn't have Reeves or Luka.
15:10And they're just kind of in wait-and-see mode.
15:13And you can't be anything but the 10.
15:15And you have two more after that against another trying-to-lose Sacramento Kings team.
15:20And so, if you're Draymond, and you've been doing this for, what, 14 years?
15:24And you've played in the highest leverage games possible.
15:27And now you're on this road to nowhere?
15:30I totally am getting it.
15:31I don't often step out and defend Draymond Green.
15:34I'm not trying to pin you, but you have come down his road before for this exact same reason.
15:40When he says, I can't get up for Orlando in February.
15:43There you go.
15:44Yeah.
15:44Or when he doesn't want to play because Steph's not playing.
15:47Exactly.
15:47I think this is the exact same thing.
15:49Oh, this I understand.
15:49This is, to me, this is worse.
15:51This is far better because this is, like, we're at a pointless spot in the schedule.
15:56And Sacramento's going to lay down like that?
15:58No, I couldn't.
15:59Well, he's not talking about Sacramento.
16:00He's talking about next week.
