00:00It's time to go around the entire NFL and dip it in some gridiron gravy.
00:08Dip it and rip it.
00:10That was a really good dip.
00:13So, I was reading an article, and obviously Eli Stowers is part of it,
00:20but the thought behind it from Bucky Brooks was wild cards in the NFL draft.
00:28Partially because there seems to be such a gap of thought about how good or not good they are.
00:39Personally, I love Mike, but I know there were a few who did not.
00:44I know this is a gridiron gravy.
00:46Yeah, I know.
00:46Shocker.
00:47Alec was one of them.
00:49Last night, I was thinking to myself as I was watching the game,
00:52I was like, this is fun to watch a game with Mike.
00:55That's kind of how it felt.
00:56I am famous!
00:59He'll still tell you that today.
01:01That's kind of how it felt, was like I was watching, because he's talking,
01:04and that's how he would be if I was sitting in a game with him.
01:07Yeah.
01:08That's exactly what it would be like, because he'd be like,
01:10you've got to think about this and this and this.
01:12And that's what it feels like, and I'm very happy for him.
01:15He's ridiculously good at that.
01:17Doing what he's doing, because we grew up with Steve Busby and Jim Sundberg,
01:22and so many good ones.
01:23Yeah.
01:24And Mike is now taking his place in that category.
01:26He's very good.
01:27I agree with all of that.
01:29So, there's a variety of names to go through if y'all want to focus in on anybody,
01:35but like Eli Stowers is on the list.
01:40Harold Perkins Jr. is on the list.
01:44We went through Harold Perkins, I believe, a few weeks back.
01:48Yeah, we did.
01:49We loved the burst, the pop, still trying to figure out why he brought us so mad all the time.
01:55Well, and that's part of the thing.
01:56And then Ty Simpson is on the list as well.
01:59So, are there any players on that list y'all want to talk about,
02:02or is there anybody that you want to add, potentially?
02:06I did.
02:07Keldrick Falk.
02:08I got a question, Alec, and I don't know if you've watched him yet.
02:12Oh, no.
02:13Have you watched Chris Brazel, the wide receiver out of Tennessee?
02:17A little bit, yes.
02:19Second, third round kind of guy.
02:21Six foot four.
02:24Has this wiggle and separation that I really like.
02:28And I look at his body and I'm like, is that kind of George Pickens?
02:32Okay.
02:33And my brain starts thinking this way of like, he's a big play guy.
02:37He's a deep threat kind of guy on some slant patterns.
02:40He can really do some work, but he also has some concentration drops that I'm like,
02:45ah, all right, like, I get it.
02:47But there's these moments that I watch him and I'm like,
02:50could that be why the Cowboys are like $28 million for the tag works for us right now?
02:56And if you don't want to sign it, we're willing to find a guy in the second or third round
03:00as a wide receiver for us.
03:02Yeah, I know.
03:02Well, because like one of the things that Brooks mentioned is with the veer and shoot offense at Tennessee,
03:08it's really hard to say going into the draft, oh, yeah, he'll be really good at these inside routes
03:15or these more kind of mid-range routes.
03:17You can project, but you don't really have a bunch of good film to back that up.
03:22Yeah.
03:22Highpool's offense does set it up very well for him.
03:25And also, again, at six foot four, six foot five, whatever he is currently listed at,
03:31you watch a lot of times corners feel like they have to play off of him.
03:34Yes.
03:35Because they have to give him that kind of space so that they can work around his height.
03:39That's what scares me is he didn't see press really much at all,
03:43especially when they knew it was like shorter yardage situations where he's probably not moving downfield.
03:49Yeah, because why would you?
03:49Exactly.
03:49So he didn't see that a lot.
03:51But then you just go and watch the game against Georgia this past year and you're like,
03:55this dude can be anything he decides he wants to be.
03:58He had almost 200 receiving yards, I think, and three touchdowns, I want to say.
04:03He went off against good competition.
04:05So he's got the negatives of just not seeing certain things.
04:09But then when he did see those things, he did pretty well.
04:12I don't know what to think.
04:13What about Chris Johnson, the cornerback from San Diego State?
04:17This is a classic what you see versus what got timed.
04:22So he does not look fast.
04:24No.
04:25On film.
04:26No.
04:26But then he clocked a 4-4-40.
04:29And so, look, this feels like one of the big questions of scouting.
04:33Like, how do you merge the combination of what I saw on tape, what I saw in person,
04:38versus what the stopwatch says or what the weight room says or whatever?
04:41You put them together and you take the information.
04:44This is what I, yesterday I got really mad.
04:47I was listening to something on when Chiafalo and Chop were doing the show yesterday.
04:53And I got really mad.
04:55I didn't say it to you, Kevin, because you were still sulking about the loss to Duke.
05:06And I didn't really want to upset you.
05:07But I talked to JT from Jack FM.
05:10And I was like, we say trust the tape.
05:13But then the combine happens.
05:15And we stop trusting the tape.
05:16Yeah.
05:17So do we go back to trusting the tape at some point?
05:20And it does, you've got to merge those things together.
05:22Because it feels like everyone's like, wow, Sonny Stiles is good.
05:25And you're like, yeah, did you see him play football?
05:30We said that already.
05:32Chris Johns is a baller.
05:33And the first person that said this was Wolchuk.
05:36That was the first person I saw.
05:38Wolchuk's been out at the forefront of a lot of these dudes this year.
05:42I'm really happy with the work that he's done.
05:43Except J-Rod.
05:44Except for J-Rod.
05:45He's got some stuff to work on there.
05:48But this dude can absolutely play.
05:50So I don't care what any clock says or whatever.
05:54Like, I'm watching him.
05:55And I know he's fast.
05:57And I know the game does look a little slower on some of the grass that he was playing on.
06:02But whenever I watch how he processes the game and how he sees everything, how he is not afraid to
06:08put his shoulder into a running back or wide receiver's hip and knock the ball loose and make something happen,
06:14how I know this dude, the ball just finds him.
06:17He is that kind of player.
06:19And that's a dude right there.
06:22Go watch the tape.
06:23And then just go.
06:25And he's probably faster than that.
06:26Yeah, yeah.
06:28And he's been creeping up on some people's mock drafts and charts and everything.
06:33He should be an early to mid-second round guy.
06:35If he gets into the first round, people are going to be happy with that, too.
06:38They might be like, hold on, what?
06:39Because out of San Diego State, you got some questions there.
06:42But the dude can absolutely play.
06:44And then Ty Simpson.
06:45I know, obviously, we've talked a lot about him.
06:48But I've seen more and not more and more people.
06:50I've seen a handful of people who feel like they're usually in the loop saying he has classic quarterback fall
06:57written all over him.
06:58Not necessarily his career, but his placement in the draft.
07:03Now, saying it would be like a Shador situation, that is too extreme.
07:06But I've heard from a couple of people who are like, no, yeah, he's got fall out of the first
07:11round written on him.
07:12Yeah, I mean, the quarterback bunch right now is not my favorite the last couple of years now.
07:17But, I mean, it does feel more like Arizona is a place.
07:22And could you pull that Arizona trade off and maybe work something with them as the Cowboys?
07:28I see what you're saying there.
07:30Can I give you two other players that I was interested in?
07:33Eli Storrs was very fun to watch.
07:36A little, not as physical as I want him to be when it comes to the blocking game.
07:41Yeah.
07:41But he is a fantastic receiver.
07:43However, he reminds me of Ferguson a little bit in some of the routes that he runs.
07:48But now Ferguson's turned into a four yards and turn around guy.
07:51I don't know why.
07:52But he can run some really good routes inside the seam, in that seam area, in the middle of the
07:57field.
07:58He can be a powerhouse for you.
08:00And his vertical is unbelievable.
08:03So people are like, that could be an unstoppable red zone weapon.
08:06But the other thing that you said, can he block?
08:10And it doesn't feel like he plays strong.
08:13Yeah.
08:14You know, like that's the thing.
08:15Like whatever your weight, whatever you look like in the weight room, that's great.
08:18He looks amazing.
08:19He's getting shed or he's getting pushed off of the block again and again.
08:24And so that's another one that has people kind of all over the place.
08:28That's why all of his highlights are definitely of him catching the ball.
08:31Yeah.
08:31You don't get a lot of highlights of him blocking because there aren't many of them.
08:35I also had this, Kevin.
08:37Watch Kyle Lewis.
08:38Okay.
08:39If you get a chance, watch Kyle Lewis out of Pitt.
08:42Don't know exactly what this dude is.
08:43He's 5'11", undersized weight-wise, but played middle linebacker for Pitt, but also could be that safety star guy.
08:52He can do all those things in the middle of the field.
08:55He's quick.
08:56He's strong.
08:57He hits with power.
08:58He is a good blitzer.
09:00He does the John Cena after he sacks people because you can't see him.
09:04No, I understand.
09:05And so, like, there's one sack that I really love where the quarterback had him coming.
09:09He was right at him.
09:10He was right underneath him.
09:12And he sacked him.
09:13He stood up.
09:13He was like, you didn't even see me.
09:14This dude did not even see me.
09:16He's one of those guys that, like, could you say convert from linebacker to star rather than safety to star?
09:22And if you're looking for those splash plays, he's got them.
09:26In the last two years, 24 tackles for loss, 6 interceptions, and 10 sacks as, theoretically, a safety.
09:35But is he Dexter Coakley?
09:38Yeah.
09:38You know, or Sam Mills?
09:40Like, those guys were exceptional, but they were a little undersized, and they just found the right defenses to play
09:45in.
09:45A couple other quick things for you.
09:47The Cardinals and Dolphins are going to meet with both Carson Beck and Ty Simpson.
09:52Netflix is looking to add two more games to their slate, including a Thanksgiving Eve game, which we've talked about
10:00before.
10:00And then I just think this sucks by the NFL.
10:04They're trying to introduce something this week that would not count Friday games as short week games.
10:11So you're allowed to give teams two short week games per year.
10:16So the NFL, which, you know, they're doing the Black Friday game, Christmas falls on a Friday this year, which
10:23means you'll have two on Christmas, maybe three.
10:26And so they're going to argue that because Christmas falls on a Friday this year, and they're trying to obviously
10:33continue to take over Christmas, that Friday should not count as a short week so they can kind of F
10:39over, if we're being honest, more teams.
10:42How is Friday not a short team on a Thursday and let them, you know, have that extra time?
10:48You can't schedule them on a Sunday.
10:50But that's the thing.
10:51So if you have three Friday games, you can get two of those teams.
10:55Dude, look at, like I said, dude, they will always try to squeeze everything they can out of you.
11:00Fight back!
11:01Resist!
11:01They won't.
11:02They won't.
