00:00Did you have a lot of work FOMO, or you disconnected?
00:03I managed to disconnect, stunningly.
00:05I had to call people yesterday and be like...
00:06Especially from Todd Archer.
00:07Yeah, I did.
00:08I thought that I was ignoring him.
00:10I was not.
00:10I was not ignoring you, Todd.
00:11I had to call people yesterday and go like,
00:13hey, did I miss any...
00:15I think I've got a handle on everything,
00:16but did I miss anything?
00:18And so I was getting caught up on all the salacious details
00:22from the beat of a whole lot of nothing,
00:25other than one signing, so...
00:26Yeah, I think you pretty much...
00:30Picked a great week to be gone.
00:31In terms of Cowboys news,
00:33they are signing, and signed, I guess,
00:35Jonathan Bullard.
00:37He is signing a one-year, $2.5 million max deal
00:41on the day of his late grandmother Joyce's birthday,
00:45which is fitting because he said
00:46she was hollering a hollering at the TV Cowboy fan.
00:51So a new defensive lineman added to the mix.
00:53Yep, and it's somebody who has worked with Marcus Stixson
00:56before, your defensive line coach,
00:58but we had talked about that after they moved
01:00to Oso Digizua, it's like, all right,
01:02I don't know if it's a superstar,
01:04if it's just a regular old veteran,
01:07if it's a cheap option or an expensive option,
01:09but they're going to go get another defensive lineman.
01:12They have to go get a four-technique,
01:14head-up, defensive end,
01:16to spot start in case they don't cover
01:19what they need to in the draft.
01:20And so that'll be Bullard.
01:21So in their base 3-4 looks,
01:23he'll play next to Quinnen and Kenny Clark,
01:26pending what they do in the draft.
01:28They could have a rookie potentially play there,
01:30but this is the whole,
01:32don't expose yourself to liability,
01:34let's try our best to cover our bases
01:36before we head into the draft,
01:37and that's the kind of signing Bullard does,
01:38but really strong run defender,
01:42veteran presence,
01:43and somebody who can give you a little bit of versatility.
01:45Omar Kelly from the Miami Herald reports
01:49that the Cowboys have called to inquire
01:51about linebacker Jordan Brooks.
01:54So the name that we talked about
01:56for the last couple of weeks,
01:57apparently the Cowboys have made a phone call.
02:00Yeah, and I mean, he's somebody who,
02:02if you were able to,
02:04like we talked about before I left it,
02:06the price point compared to some of the other guys
02:09we've talked about,
02:09Patrick Queen, Aziz Alshair,
02:11the price point,
02:14what he's put on tape over the last couple of years
02:17compared to the other guys,
02:18he would be pretty much a dream scenario, I think.
02:21And I don't think it,
02:22if they're willing to move on from him,
02:24I don't think it should break the bank.
02:25Definitely better than Dean,
02:27definitely better than...
02:28100% better than N'Kobe Dean.
02:30And Quay Walker?
02:32They really liked Quay Walker
02:34and had a vision for him,
02:35has put better stuff on tape than Quay Walker.
02:38They may have felt that they could tap
02:39into something more with Quay Walker, though.
02:41But no, Jordan Brooks,
02:42100% a better player than N'Kobe Dean.
02:45All right, Brian Schottenheimer talking at...
02:47Why are they getting together again?
02:49They just got to...
02:50Oh, no, it's just nonstop.
02:51Okay, why are all the coaches there?
02:56To be consulted with.
02:57To be consulted with.
02:59All the GMs are there.
03:00They're all there.
03:01See, everybody ever said,
03:02oh, you're just Jerry's puppet.
03:04No, no, no.
03:04Schottie's going there to run things.
03:05He's running owner's meetings now.
03:07You never saw Mike McCarthy out there running things.
03:09This is the guy's version of, like,
03:10I'm going to golf.
03:12It's like,
03:12all right, honey,
03:14I got to go to Arizona.
03:15For what?
03:16You were just in Indianapolis.
03:17Y'all were just together,
03:18like, three weeks ago.
03:19Just together.
03:19It's the owner's meetings.
03:20Do the photo.
03:22Do the dorky coach's photo
03:25out in front of that obelisk
03:27at the circle in Indianapolis.
03:29What's an obelisk?
03:30It's that, like,
03:31it's the pole
03:33in the middle of the circle park thing there.
03:35Yeah, don't diss the coach's photo
03:38because you routinely every year
03:41examine the photo for it.
03:42Oh, I examine.
03:42What were you just talking about?
03:43You're talking about pole or whatever?
03:45Oh.
03:45The obelisk.
03:46Yeah.
03:46Yeah.
03:47You look at the other one.
03:48I do have to say,
03:49Mike McCarthy
03:51probably had the worst posture
03:54and hand placement
03:55in the photo.
03:56So, there was, like,
03:58three dudes
03:59that I didn't recognize
04:00whatsoever.
04:02And you had Robert Sala
04:03on the total opposite end
04:05of Liam Cohen,
04:09the Jaguars head coach
04:10after their spat on the field.
04:12And there's Brian Schottenheimer
04:14talking to the media
04:15and they asked him,
04:17have you gotten the latest
04:18with George Pickens?
04:20No, I mean,
04:21I've had conversations with George.
04:22He's doing great.
04:23He and CD have been taking
04:24a lot of trips together.
04:27So, when I text him now,
04:28I kind of text him both.
04:29I was at a wedding the other day.
04:30My nephew or my niece got married
04:32and I text him both
04:34and it was great
04:35just to catch up with those guys.
04:36But, yeah,
04:37he's training with Dak.
04:38Hey, look,
04:38GP loves him.
04:39We love GP.
04:41We have plans for GP
04:42to be here for a long time.
04:43So, we'll let the business side
04:44of this thing play out
04:45and see where it goes.
04:46Regarding him being available,
04:48though,
04:48for the off-season program,
04:50mini-camp,
04:51OTAs,
04:51any insurances
04:52that he'll be around?
04:53No,
04:54and I haven't pushed that on him.
04:55I mean, again,
04:55we're all going through the process.
04:56It's almost April.
04:58We're still a couple weeks away.
05:00It's going to play out
05:01the way it plays out.
05:02Again,
05:02it's all voluntary.
05:03So,
05:04we'll see where it goes.
05:05Man,
05:05Clarence also asked
05:06that follow-up question
05:07to Steven
05:08and Steven,
05:09like,
05:10shut it down
05:11with a nasty tone.
05:12He said,
05:12I answered your question.
05:14I answered your question already
05:15as they were asking Steven
05:16as well
05:17about George Pickens.
05:18And Bobby,
05:19you don't like the
05:20selective nature
05:21sometimes
05:22of the way
05:23Steven addresses
05:24these deals?
05:25Look,
05:25if Steven wants
05:27to have the approach
05:28of like,
05:28hey,
05:28we're not going to talk
05:30about active negotiations.
05:31It's like,
05:32we don't discuss
05:33ongoing investigations,
05:35guys.
05:35Sorry,
05:35we can't comment on this.
05:36If he wants that
05:37to be his position,
05:39great.
05:40But you can't,
05:41like,
05:42change it up
05:42from negotiation
05:43to negotiation
05:44and then within
05:45the same negotiation
05:46change whether you
05:47actively comment on it
05:49or not.
05:49Because then when
05:50somebody asks you,
05:50you have to know
05:51you're going to get
05:51asked about it.
05:51You have to know
05:52you're going to be
05:52asked about it
05:53even if your answer
05:54always is we don't
05:55comment on it.
05:55But because you
05:56have a tendency
05:57to kind of go back
05:58and forth on,
05:59yeah,
05:59I'll comment on it
06:00a little bit.
06:00Nah,
06:00never mind,
06:01I won't.
06:01You have to know
06:02that's coming
06:02and that there's going
06:03to be a million
06:03different ways
06:04that they want to ask it.
06:05Because we knew
06:06about Aubrey's
06:09negotiation,
06:10we knew about
06:11Javante's negotiation,
06:12but then when it
06:12comes to George,
06:13like,
06:13guys,
06:13you know the policy.
06:14Right.
06:15Yeah,
06:15and it's one of those
06:16things where they
06:17fluctuated back and
06:18forth on Dak's
06:19negotiation.
06:20We're not going to
06:20talk about it.
06:21Oh,
06:21we'll talk about it.
06:21Nope,
06:21we're not going to
06:22talk about it.
06:22So,
06:23I mean,
06:23it's player to
06:24player and then
06:25even on the player
06:25it's week to week
06:26whether they want
06:27to comment on it
06:27or not.
06:28And so,
06:29you talk when you
06:31want to publicly
06:31negotiate through the
06:32media.
06:33That's what we're doing.
06:33Yeah.
06:33Just don't pretend
06:35like it's fake.
06:36Brian Schottenheimer
06:37had basically said
06:39we can draft pure now.
06:40We are good to go.
06:41We addressed everything
06:42in free agency.
06:43And thankful for the
06:44media yesterday
06:45reminding Shoddy,
06:47did you forget
06:48about linebacker?
06:49You know,
06:49look,
06:50we made a run
06:50at some guys
06:51in free agency.
06:51Sometimes it works,
06:52sometimes it doesn't.
06:54And what do you do?
06:55You just adjust.
06:56It's something
06:57we're working on
06:58365 24-7.
07:00We've got a good plan.
07:01We've got firepower
07:01now going into the draft.
07:02We're not done.
07:04We're always open
07:05for business.
07:06So,
07:06you know,
07:07part of it's going to be,
07:08you know,
07:08Demo having a tremendous year.
07:10Shamar James is the guy
07:11we're excited about.
07:11But we recognize
07:12that we've got to
07:13fill some holes there.
07:15As long as there's
07:15recognition that there
07:16is still a hole there.
07:17Because,
07:18yeah,
07:19look,
07:19we're just going to
07:19bank on DeMarvy
07:20and Overshown
07:21needs to be
07:22all-world for us
07:23and available
07:24the whole year.
07:25That's not a solution.
07:27Like,
07:28I'm glad that you
07:29have confidence in him
07:30and confidence in the
07:31rehab staff
07:31to get him ready.
07:32He seems to have
07:33a lot of confidence
07:34in himself to be
07:35healthy and be prepared.
07:36That's great.
07:36We can have all that.
07:37You still need to
07:38cover your bases.
07:39And it sounds like
07:40they know they still
07:41need to cover their bases
07:42while also trying to
07:42give a vote of confidence
07:43to a couple guys.
07:44RJ Choppy,
07:45the mock drafts
07:46that we went through
07:47last week
07:48are all putting who
07:49to the Cowboys
07:50at 12?
07:52Jermod McCoy.
07:53That is who?
07:54Tennessee Corner.
07:56Well,
07:56he was Tennessee Corner
07:58like two years ago.
08:00He wasn't one.
08:01I mean,
08:01he was there last year
08:02in a rehab capacity,
08:05but he was not
08:06on the active roster.
08:09He was a Tennessee Corner
08:10during the Biden administration.
08:12Let's just,
08:13that's the last time
08:14that he played.
08:14Yes, he was.
08:15So he's got his pro day
08:16coming up.
08:17Could this...
08:18Today.
08:18Is it today?
08:19I think it's today.
08:21Yep.
08:21All right.
08:21It's today.
08:22So here we go.
08:23Could the running
08:25and the cutting
08:26and running around
08:27in shorts
08:28change everyone's minds
08:30and win you over
08:31that he is back
08:32fully healthy?
08:33Brian Schottenheimer,
08:35how important is today
08:36for you guys
08:37and McCoy?
08:38Very important.
08:40I think they all are.
08:42But, you know,
08:43when you've got a guy
08:44who hasn't played football
08:44in a long time,
08:46you see the talent,
08:47you see the skill set.
08:49I think it's really,
08:50really important
08:50and I'm full informed
08:54for him,
08:54you know,
08:54more than anything.
08:55But it's important
08:56and I'm sure
08:56to be very well attended.
08:59You are always telling me
09:01that I'm guilty
09:01of overthinking things
09:03and reading too much
09:04into things.
09:05Yeah.
09:06Somebody had texted me
09:07yesterday,
09:08this clip,
09:09and was like,
09:11that's a lot of
09:13unusual uhs
09:14and ums
09:15for Brian Schottenheimer
09:16relative to how
09:17he normally addresses
09:17questions.
09:18That was,
09:18every other word was
09:19um,
09:20um,
09:21so.
09:22Really?
09:22Hit play,
09:23notice it.
09:24It's in there a lot.
09:25Very important.
09:26I think they all are.
09:28Um,
09:29but you know,
09:29when you got a guy
09:30who hasn't played
09:31football in a long time,
09:32um,
09:33you know,
09:33you see the talent,
09:34you see the skill set.
09:35Um,
09:36I think it's really,
09:36really important
09:37and uh,
09:39I'm full informed
09:40for him,
09:41you know,
09:41more than anything.
09:42But it's important
09:42and I'm sure
09:43to be very well attended.
09:44So is that,
09:45you love him?
09:47You want to play it cool?
09:48Or is that,
09:50yeah,
09:50I just,
09:50I don't want to say
09:51what we're not
09:52comfortable with.
09:53And so I need to
09:54play it cool that way.
09:55I'd have to go back
09:56and listen to the,
09:58amount of,
09:59the average amount
10:00of us
10:00in a Brian Schottenheimer
10:02sentence.
10:02We know it's there
10:03with Jerry.
10:03Uh,
10:04but I'm gonna,
10:04I'm gonna,
10:05I'm gonna hit
10:05the overthink button
10:06on you.
10:06I'm gonna,
10:07I'm gonna accuse you
10:07of the overthink.
10:08The overthink,
10:09yeah.
10:09Although,
10:10Joseph Hoy,
10:11Dallas Morning News,
10:13did go on Gbag
10:14and say,
10:15I don't think
10:17they want
10:17red shirt player,
10:18we know that.
10:19I don't think
10:20they want to use
10:20a top 12 pick
10:21on a guy
10:21that plays six games
10:23next year.
10:24Mmm.
10:25So that's Joseph Hoy.
10:26I understand the hesitation
10:27from the Cowboys.
10:28Now,
10:28I don't know whether
10:29Joseph Hoy has
10:30the access
10:31that David Moore
10:32used to have,
10:33but usually David Moore
10:35would get fed
10:36a lot of this stuff
10:37first,
10:38uh,
10:38to go ahead
10:38and get the message out.
10:40And maybe,
10:41uh,
10:41if Joseph Hoy has
10:42that same pipeline,
10:43then that would steer
10:44me away from
10:45thinking McCoy
10:46at 12.
10:47It would,
10:48um,
10:48unless they just...
10:49Is that looking
10:49too much in a thing?
10:50Unless,
10:50unless they,
10:51unless they don't care.
10:52Unless they don't care
10:53about a red shirt,
10:54right?
10:54Which would obviously
10:56counter what...
10:57They've said they care.
10:57Yeah,
10:58which obviously
10:58countered what
10:59they've said
10:59all offseason.
11:00Uh,
11:00I guess there is
11:01a possibility
11:01that this guy's just,
11:02everybody else is gone,
11:04can't trade down,
11:06and then this guy's like,
11:07alright,
11:07look,
11:07we're gonna just
11:08take the best player,
11:09and he will,
11:09over the five years,
11:11be the best player.
11:11Daniel Jeremiah,
11:13fantastic on KNC
11:14last week,
11:14Bobby,
11:15and the great question
11:17that,
11:17and I'll put you
11:18on the board here,
11:19live fire scenario,
11:20live bullets,
11:21the scenario he came up
11:23with,
11:23he goes,
11:24who behind McCoy,
11:26with the usual suspects
11:27being taken,
11:28who behind McCoy
11:29is the name
11:30screaming at you
11:31that you have to
11:31take over him?
11:33Daniel was basically
11:34being like,
11:35look,
11:35best body and size
11:37and attributes
11:37for the position,
11:39yes,
11:39you have the questions,
11:40but give me the name
11:42behind him
11:43that's screaming
11:44you gotta take them
11:45at 12 instead.
11:46Who is it?
11:48Assuming,
11:48Styles is gone,
11:50Downs is gone,
11:51Bain is gone.
11:53Yeah,
11:54first name,
11:55any last name body,
11:57anybody.
11:57I would take anybody
11:58over Jermon McCoy.
12:00Really?
12:00I really like Jermon McCoy.
12:02Would you take,
12:03is it a different discussion
12:04at 20?
12:05Not for me,
12:06I wouldn't take him
12:06in the first round.
12:07Just because,
12:08a talent I would,
12:10but I can't,
12:12given the history of,
12:14ah,
12:14let's just,
12:15let's jump in
12:16on this corner,
12:17let's,
12:17Caleb Farley
12:18from Virginia Tech
12:19was this guy
12:19a couple years back
12:20where he missed
12:21his whole final season
12:23and there was talk
12:24of like,
12:24ah,
12:24he's just,
12:25you know,
12:25he's not gonna be able
12:25to test or do this,
12:26but he'll be fine,
12:27don't worry,
12:28and I loved him
12:28and I bought all in
12:30and then he was out
12:30of the league
12:31in like two years
12:32because he couldn't
12:32get healthy.
12:33I can't,
12:34with where this team
12:35is at right now
12:36and like how much time
12:38Dak has left,
12:39to be a top tier
12:41quarterback
12:41or to be somebody
12:42that can win you
12:42a Super Bowl,
12:43I can't risk it
12:44on a guy of like,
12:45I haven't seen him
12:46play in two years.
