00:00It's funny to watch all the Cowboys beat reporters send out their updates, and they're like,
00:04now we're off the clock when March Madness is starting.
00:06Todd Archer did it, and so did Calvin Watkins.
00:09Calvin tweeted, no contract progress involving Brandon Aubrey and George Pickens.
00:15A reminder, Aubrey asked for $10 million, offered just under $7 million.
00:20The Cowboys placed the second round tender at $5.76 million.
00:25They still want Aubrey to be the highest-paid kicker, but he did note no contract progress involving GP.
00:34Brandon Aubrey was on the dumb zone, and they asked him about his social media responses.
00:39He went to the fan Instagram page to respond over the reports, and he and his wife are feeling like,
00:45you know,
00:46the narrative when it first came out was against him, and Brandon Aubrey said they had had enough.
00:52I let her do that one, and I did the same thing at that point.
00:56It was so overwhelming that it felt like just turning the valve on a pressure cooker to open up a
01:02little bit,
01:02to ease the pressure off of us, because at that point, every time we looked at our phone,
01:06there was 100 DMs or messages saying how selfish and greedy you are, that you need to just take that
01:11offer.
01:12Like, okay, we didn't get the offer you think we got, so let's just move on.
01:16And that's all we wanted to say, and, you know, it did help just know that I want to be
01:22here in Dallas,
01:23and it seems like the Cowboys want me here in Dallas, so something will happen eventually.
01:28Maybe it did have the effect it did.
01:31So I'm just speaking on a more broad scale here.
01:34Generally, when these sort of things, you're catching heat for something,
01:37the solution to take the heat off is not.
01:40I'm going to go personally, like, jump in the comments section and address this with people.
01:44Well, they both said fake.
01:46They did.
01:46They both just said, like, fake.
01:48They didn't quit it.
01:49They did, which is, like, I mean, Todd France did his video from the bus of,
01:53oh, a lot of fake stuff.
01:54Like, that usually is like, all right, that's good enough.
01:56Like, I do feel like it extended the story a little bit when it's like, oh, now they're saying that
02:00it's fake.
02:01And, like, it doesn't cause things to die down easy all the time whenever you decide.
02:05I'm going to go address this.
02:06And this is part of where it's like, you know, it is a tough.
02:13You've got to have a filter.
02:14You've got to have, like, a trap door that tells you don't do this.
02:18Like, when you see something, when you're in your own comments, it's tough not to post when somebody says something
02:24factually inaccurate about you.
02:26It's very tough not to go back at them.
02:28Oh, yeah.
02:29Like, you want, like, it's human nature.
02:31You want to go back.
02:33And it's like, that's what the people who can avoid doing that, they're, like, the super special ones.
02:38Because they've just, like, we don't, I don't care.
02:40But very, very few could do that.
02:42When do we get a Pickens discussion?
02:44Yeah.
02:45Hello.
02:45When do we get a Pickens negotiation or phone call?
02:48Well, I don't know that we will.
02:50Like, it may just be he's playing on the tag.
02:52Because, like, I don't, like I said, when we came out of Indy, that was the impression I got is
02:55they're not getting an extension then.
02:57And so I think that they're, I think everybody's sort of, that they're.
03:00Did you get the impression Georgia play on it?
03:03They'll see you week eight.
03:05That was a little less clear.
03:07But I also think that that's, like, it struck me.
03:10This is just an interpretation.
03:11This is not anything anybody told me.
03:12It struck me that any sort of, like, reluctance to play on it, because it was not, like, an aggressive
03:17position,
03:19struck me that any reluctance to play on it may have just been, like, well, we can't let them know
03:23we'll play on it because we're trying to get a deal.
03:25And so I think ultimately he will play on the tag.
03:28They won't get an extension done, and who knows what happens after that.
03:32And he'll play week one, full season.
03:35That's my guess.
03:37I didn't get anybody who told me that or told me they anticipated that.
03:40That's just my read of the things that I heard.
03:41Man, that would be disappointing.
03:43I'm not disappointed if he plays week one.
03:45I'd be disappointed if it comes to him being on the tag.
03:48And that would, in your estimation, the Cowboys letting him do that would just be about judging his behavior for
03:56one more year, correct?
03:59Why else would they not engage?
04:01Because you're going to cost yourself more money if he balls out again.
04:04Right, but that's also their M.O.
04:06They love to wait.
04:07They don't view that they're losing anything by waiting.
04:10Right.
04:11Cap's going up.
04:12Cap's going up.
04:13So his tag this year is 28.
04:15Next year it's 33-ish?
04:17Yeah.
04:18To them?
04:20You know, because Florio has always said this, if you go in the tag one year, the new contract number
04:25becomes the next year's tag.
04:27They're comfortable with 33 already, I think.
04:30Yes, but that's the difference with companies and people who don't understand.
04:36And there's a gray area between numbers and feelings.
04:41Yes.
04:42You know, if we're playing a video game and you're in franchise mode and you're like, I'm going to get
04:47George for 20.
04:47I'm building my team.
04:48I'm going to get George for 28.
04:50Then I'm going to get him at 32.
04:51Hell yeah.
04:52Yeah, that is the absolute 100 out of 100 times that you go about building your football team with a
04:57salary cap on a video game.
05:00But you've got to take into account the feelings and the chemistry and the goodwill, the badwill that it builds.
05:09A lot of these companies are like, no, we don't have to do anything.
05:13And you're not going to do anything.
05:14Okay.
05:15Yeah, I'll work under it.
05:16But I'm not going to go the extra effort.
05:18And now I have a venom towards you that at some point in time is going to come out.
05:23That's the real world.
05:25From Georgia's side.
05:25Yeah.
05:25Yeah, of course.
05:26This is why having him play on the tag is stupid.
05:31You've got to sign him.
05:31Although I don't.
05:33It's not stupid if he is.
05:35If he's a nutcase.
05:36If he's kind of okay with it.
05:38Or he's a nutcase.
05:39The first year D-Law was tagged.
05:40D-Law was fine.
05:41He signed it after like a week.
05:42He was like, sure, I'll play on it.
05:43I mean, very few people are unhappy with $28 million.
05:45And then the next year he was unhappy.
05:47Dak, yeah.
05:47I mean, they wanted to get something done.
05:48But Dak was like, fine, I'll play on it.
05:50Pickens is we hear enough from people going like, yeah, he's a different dude.
05:53Like, it would not surprise me if he didn't have the normal reaction that other people would have to this.
05:57It would also.
05:58This is where Amuligh Guetta, his homework and a possible bluff could play out here.
06:04Where he goes right.
06:05He can go around and talk to other teams and figure it out.
06:08If other teams are like, Dave, we're not giving him 35.
06:12We're not rolling the dice on that.
06:14Then you're more apt to play on the tag.
06:16Now, is Dave going to go back and tell the Cowboys, yeah, we're fine with it.
06:21No one else is going to give him 35.
06:23Or is he going to bluff and play it out like, I don't care.
06:27I don't have clients that play on the franchise tag.
06:30Go check the history and we're not starting now.
06:32If I was the third leading receiver in the NFL.
06:35But the Cowboys may also say, you haven't come back to us and said someone's willing to pay him that
06:40much more.
06:41So we know you got nothing.
06:43He is, it's funny.
06:45I was talking to somebody in personnel outside of Dallas last year.
06:49And they were talking about the negotiations that have gone on.
06:53You know what Bucs guy?
06:55We were talking about the negotiations that have gone on with David's clients before.
07:00David Mulgueta.
07:02And they had said that out of all the agents in the business, they're like, his is the best poker
07:07face.
07:07He will not, like, you know he has to be under stress by what's going on with the deal or
07:15their negotiating position.
07:15He does not show it to you.
07:17He is, it's just like, been here before, does not bug me.
07:20And then, so even if he's upset by something, he usually is apparently going to just play it very, very,
07:27you know, comfortable.
07:28And we're even.
07:29We're right here.
07:30And you do what you got to do.
07:32We're going to be fine over here.
07:33And we know how to get our money.
07:34If you're coming off a year where you're, you know, pretty realistically a top five receiver that past year.
07:43Yeah, he 100% played as one of the five best players.
07:45Yeah, he did.
07:46And he may have played as one of the two or three best.
07:51You tell other teams, we're going to make you not pay me $35 million.
07:54Like, that's how, you're trying to get the max because you're going to force a team to say, you know
07:59what, we're not interested in the talent.
08:01We're too scared of the talent.
08:02You're going to force them to do that.
08:03Inside the star in the home of the Cowboys, 105.3, the fan, Todd Archer, searching for linebackers.
08:08Yeah, and I always, I love a good Todd Archer article where he references the names of players who are
08:14not in Dallas.
08:15Because if he's referencing the name of players who are not in Dallas, he's usually, I feel like, trying to...
08:19He tried to throw some breadcrumbs in Indy.
08:21Yeah, he's just, he's trying to drop some breadcrumbs for you and lead you to...
08:24Here, come here.
08:25While he's out mowing his lawn, dropping breadcrumbs.
08:26Yeah, it's just nothing.
08:27To us ducks.
08:28Yeah, he's yawning as he does it because it's just like, yeah, I'm mowing my lawn, I'm yawning, I'm leading
08:32breadcrumbs.
08:33He named three linebackers because he talked about what we've discussed of what is the biggest thing that they have
08:39to go get.
08:40And he closed this article, he said, in free agency, the Cowboys have filled their must-haves at outside linebacker
08:45safety, corner, defensive tackle.
08:46He goes, they have one more must-have to go get.
08:49And that is the linebacker position, the inside linebacker position.
08:52So, the Cowboys would rather not have a rookie do that next year.
08:56They don't want DeMarvian Overshawn to be the mic.
08:59And they need to bring somebody in here to kind of wear the green dot, be in charge of the
09:02defense, and be that guy in the middle.
09:04So, he names three players.
09:06And we've talked about one of these.
09:07Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen, because he said there are three linebackers entering the final year of their contracts.
09:12So, perhaps these could be guys on the market.
09:15Patrick Queen had 120 tackles last season.
09:17Several scouts said his play fell off last year, according to Todd.
09:22Patrick Queen was a 44 grade on PFF, just for reference.
09:25He will make $10.83 million next year.
09:27Oh, God.
09:28Next up, Aziz Al-Shair.
09:30He is the, he's where we got the famous Sean drop when he was reading Aziz Al-Shair's statement, apologizing
09:38for the Trevor Lawrence situation.
09:40And he had the, there you go, that's the one.
09:4411, that was how he opened his statement.
09:46Aziz Al-Shair will make $11 million in 2026.
09:49He had a 70.9 grade from PFF last year.
09:51And the final option, and the one that fans have been chirping about on Twitter for months now.
09:58There's somebody we brought up out of the trade deadline of, like, would they unload him?
10:01And we never got any indication they would.
10:03The Miami Dolphins and their fire sale.
10:05Jordan Brooks is in the last year of his contract.
10:07Texas Tech guy.
10:08He had 183 tackles and three and a half sacks last season.
10:11They're in a complete rebuild.
10:12He's 29 years old.
10:13So, he's due to make $7.8 million, which is way cheaper.
10:17He had a 77.8 PFF grade last year, which was 10th best in the NFL for linebackers.
10:22So, those are three that, if Todd's mentioning those, I don't think Todd just usually goes, like, let me scan
10:27rosters and see.
10:28That to me says that.
10:29Put your cock number on him.
10:31Um, ooh, he's, uh, he's, he's, he's, like, in terms of, measure it.
10:36He's a solid nine, I'd say.
10:38Oh, that's a big cock number.
10:39A ninth round pick?
10:40Yeah, that's a big one.
10:41Ninth round pick?
10:42No, in terms of, I think so, what's his in terms of, like, Todd's reliability of, like, calling these.
10:46Oh, no, the cock, the cock rating is.
10:48And that means king of compensation, guys.
10:50That's what that stands for.
10:51It's a big cock rating.
10:52Yeah, I would say, uh.
10:55Fourth or fifth?
10:55Brooks?
10:56Yeah, Brooks.
10:57I think probably a, a fourth.
11:01Fourth is what I would guess.
11:02Hard four?
11:03Um, sure.
11:04And what do we do, a fours?
11:06We flush them.
11:08We love to flush a good four.
11:10Love to flush a good four.
11:11Send them to Indianapolis, based on what we saw.
11:13So there are some, that's God telling you.
11:15What's that cup?
11:16This is the Corinth cup, and, and, yeah, this was.
11:19That should be blocked.
11:20Yours is blocked by the laptop.
11:22That's the only reason why it was a lot.
11:22Well, God can make it.
11:23I'll block this one here.
11:24So God is pushing over the God cup.
11:28That's the God pronunciation for the city, right?
11:30That's true, yeah.
11:31Uh, Jalen Thompson, talking to the beat yesterday.
11:34Yep, Jalen Thompson, who, I know this has been confusing, Sean, over here, because we
11:38get audio that will play of Jalen Thompson or somebody, and it's them interviewing with
11:41the website last week.
11:43Well, then they're doing a conference call with the media this week, and then, who knows,
11:46maybe they'll talk to some other people on this radio dial next week.
11:49Well.
11:50But Nick Harris had highlights from the conference call that he had with beat reporters, Jalen Thompson.
11:53And he said, the facility has a family feel, which is, quote, something I've missed through
11:57seven years.
11:58Uh, he takes pride in his versatility, said his relationship with Ryan Smith, the secondary
12:01coach, played a big role in him coming to Dallas.
12:03He thinks the secondary has the pieces it needs, excited to create identity with that
12:06unit.
12:07And this is the standout quote for Nick.
12:09Definitely see myself playing in the slot.
12:11Definitely see myself playing deep.
12:13Definitely playing safety.
12:14Definitely see myself playing strong, free, wherever they need me at.
12:17My film shows it.
12:18And that's a generic quote.
12:19He said, I can do everything for you.
12:20I can be that super versatile player.
12:23But this is not, every single time he's started talking about what he can do, and the couple
12:27times he's talked with Dallas Media, he starts talking about his ability to play the nickel.
12:33Like, that's always, like, something that's really topping at the front right there.
12:37And that does make me wonder, okay, if nickel is something that they've communicated to him,
12:41he'll be playing a significant amount of, which would make sense as that hybrid player.
12:45Now you've got Durant, Bland, Revel, and then Thompson that are going to be rotating a corner
12:51currently.
12:52And if you're just looking at, all right, let's look at needs in the draft.
12:57And if we've got players graded similarly at similar positions, maybe you're looking more
13:00towards the front seven at that point.
13:02Inside the star.
13:03And if we're going to be able to do that, we're going to be able to do that.
