00:00Here's a scoring position 22 homers
00:05but only 40 knocked in for Matt a
00:07year ago.
00:10Throw to second base and hits
00:12Byron in the back.
00:14So surprising that Rutschman did
00:16that and Byron will round and
00:18hang on near third base as
00:20Ramon Borrego the third base
00:21coach he came down the line and
00:24had to stop Byron.
00:28Watching Buck put on the brakes
00:29here.
00:31It's amazing if all gets past him
00:32into center field he's thinking
00:33I'm going to score on this ball.
00:36Gets back there hits him in the
00:37middle of the numbers and then
00:38his thought right there is I'm
00:39scoring.
00:41I mean that's a turn he takes
00:42when he thinks he's going to be
00:43able to score.
00:44That's love the aggressive mindset.
00:50Orioles bring the infield in.
00:55Inside and Walder now a 3-0.
00:58There is something to be to
01:01learning how to be a run
01:02producer learning how to hit the
01:03middle of the lineup right in the
01:05back of the head actually.
01:06Way to use your headlock.
01:09Smart play.
01:11I'm green light here all day long.
01:13See if we can get another black
01:14out there on Utah Street.
01:18Not even close ball four.
01:21So Walder draws the walk.
01:24The Twins have a chance here.
01:27This was the area of struggle on
01:29Thursday where they went just one
01:31for 12 with runners in scoring
01:33position.
01:34Stab that looms large in a one run
01:35defeat.
01:36That bat right there from Walder.
01:38I think that'll go a long way if
01:40he's able to take those blocks in
01:42the run square.
01:43Teams fear his power.
01:44They don't want to give up that
01:45two or that three run homer.
01:47There's a base open.
01:48But they're going to see if they
01:49can get the fish early so we get
01:50their pitch.
01:52Being able to take those walks
01:54force him to throw the ball over
01:55the plate.
01:56I think you'll see those numbers
01:57as far as the score position
01:59creep up.
02:01Josh Bell is 0 for 4 as a twin
02:03with four strikeouts and a walk.
02:05As Braddish.
02:07This is high for ball one.
02:11Byron's sprint speed by the way
02:12going home to first was 30.4
02:15seconds of feet covered per second.
02:18He averaged 30.2 last season.
02:24That's Byron Buxton smelling a base hit
02:28and just outrunning the play.
02:344.1 four seconds the first right
02:36hand hitter.
02:37He's been saying you're going to
02:41need more than 10 feet.
02:42Morning side of Bell a hold there
02:47from Richmond.
02:50So pitch count climbing this half
02:53inning for Braddish.
02:55Can the twins capitalize.
02:59Some more back a double play
03:00depth up the middle.
03:062 and 2.
03:1920 in the second.
03:2312 here in the fourth but just one out.
03:33This was Bell's better side last year.
03:38Switch hitting DH.
03:47Check on Walder.
03:50You wonder here if the twins try to
03:52just create some offense here.
03:54You send Walder
03:57and Buxton speed at third base.
03:59I'm thinking possible breaking ball here.
04:02If it's in play maybe on the ground
04:04you stay out of the double play.
04:05Do you get a movement?
04:06A little something happening.
04:08Runner stay.
04:09Bell to left.
04:11Here comes Ward.
04:13Charging.
04:14Catching.
04:14Buxton tagging.
04:15Heading home.
04:16The throw is not in time.
04:18Sack fly Josh Bell.
04:20And Buxton speed creates a run.
04:23And it's a 1-1 game with Walder
04:25still at first base.
04:26We saw it in game one the other night.
04:28Buck decided he was going to get a triple.
04:30He hit a ball in left field.
04:31That was how the twins scored their run.
04:32This one almost entirely manufactured
04:35with his speed.
04:36Nice job by Bell
04:37making sure that ball moved forward.
04:42Surprised he came off
04:43throwing that ball to home.
04:44And the reason Walder
04:45didn't end up on second
04:46the throw was low.
04:46I think if he takes off
04:48that ball gets cut off
04:49he runs into an out at second base.
04:51It's a tough read.
04:52That plays in front of you
04:53as a fielder.
04:54And I think if you're Walder
04:55you also know
04:56there's pretty much 0% chance
04:58that Buxton's going to get thrown out
04:59on any ball to the outfield.
05:01So you don't want to necessarily
05:02run into an out and end the inning there
05:04even though
05:05would have loved to have ended up
05:06at second base.
05:11All tied 1-1.
05:13Sack fly from Bell
05:14Ryan Jeffers
05:16walked in the second.
05:24Oh Perky was almost so common
05:26the last six or seven weeks
05:29of the season last year.
05:30This situation
05:30two outs
05:31no matter
05:32who the runner was
05:33at first base
05:34he was trying to steal
05:35second base.
05:36The Twins
05:37the last two months
05:38it did not matter
05:39sprint speed
05:39that guy at first base
05:41with two outs
05:41was on the move.
05:43Walder stays 2-1.
05:44And you're almost better off
05:46in a situation like this
05:48with a guy on first
05:48and two outs
05:49starting the next inning
05:51with Ryan Jeffers
05:51leading off
05:52or if Matt Walder
05:54could steal second base here
05:55then you have him
05:56in scoring position
05:56with two outs.
05:57So it's a trade off
05:59that the success rate
06:01of the stolen base
06:01doesn't need to be very high
06:03to make that risk pay off.
06:08And you're right
06:08it was essentially
06:09an auto steal.
06:11First opportunity they had
06:12they were going
06:16Matt Walder
06:17before he got hurt
06:18in April last year
06:20he was second
06:21on the Twins
06:22in sprint speed.
06:22It was Buxton 1
06:23Walder 2
06:252-2
06:26and Jeffers
06:27would like to see
06:27that slider again.
06:29I don't know if he was
06:29sitting on that
06:30or if he saw it
06:31out of the hand
06:31but righty you know
06:32he's going to give you
06:33a slider about 40%
06:35of the time
06:37like Jeffers
06:37saw that one well.
06:48Walder stays 2-2
06:52He's sitting on a slider
06:53Morney
06:56the way he just
06:57followed off that sinker
06:58late quick swing
06:59just fighting it off
07:01he wants that slider
07:02back in the strike zone
07:03again
07:06I'm sure he's
07:07going to see
07:07one as good
07:08as the one he saw
07:09but yes
07:09he's
07:09looks like he's ready
07:10for it
07:12Got a curveball
07:14that time
07:14and strikes out
07:16to end the inning
07:17but Josh Bell
07:18put the ball in play
07:20and the two-time
07:21All-Star
07:22uses legs
07:23to create some offense
07:24sliding headfirst
07:25and tied the game
07:26at one
07:26here in Baltimore
07:34Allen Jan
07:35watching that man run
07:37Josh Bell
07:38sack fly
07:39all tied at one
07:41Taj Bradley
07:41back to work
07:42striking out the side
07:43in the third
07:44four consecutive
07:45strikeouts
07:46going back
07:46to the second
07:47and Bradley
07:48has struck out
07:49seven
07:49as he faces
07:51Dylan Beavers
07:52here bottom four
07:56this is one of the
07:57things you like
07:58about the upside
07:59for Taj Bradley
08:00he's made
08:00at least 21 starts
08:01in the last three years
08:02he's got
08:03the third youngest
08:04player on this team
08:05but has more
08:06experience than most
08:08and he can go through
08:09any part of any
08:09lineup at any time
08:10and strike out
08:12four or five hitters
08:13in a row
08:13and look
08:14completely dominant
08:16and I think
08:18the next level
08:18for him
08:19the next part
08:19for him
08:20is
08:20what happens
08:21in between
08:21those stretches
08:22where he's completely
08:23dominant
08:23where we kind of saw
08:25it in the first
08:25a little bit
08:25lost the zone
08:26just a little bit
08:27but the more
08:28experience he has
08:29the more he trusts
08:30his stuff
08:33as Beavers pops it up
08:35Keishol and Lee
08:37it'll be Keishol
08:39so one away
08:40here in the fourth inning
08:42here comes Colby Mayo
08:45Minnesota Twins
08:46baseball
08:46live from beautiful
08:48Oriel Park
08:49at Camden Yards
08:50is presented
08:51by Progressive
08:54is that
08:55something
08:55perk
08:55that
08:57just takes
08:58time
08:58or is that
08:58something
08:59where you have
08:59reminders
09:00you have
09:00cues
09:00where you're
09:01kind of
09:01going through
09:02a game
09:02what do you
09:03think is the
09:04next thing
09:04needed
09:05for him
09:05it's just
09:05it's consistency
09:06is the key
09:07for him
09:08and one
09:09of the hardest
09:10things for
09:10every young
09:11pitcher
09:12is
09:13preparing
09:13yourself
09:14for that
09:14first inning
09:15and that
09:15challenge
09:16your perk
09:20be good
09:21if we can
09:21see the
09:21strike zone
09:22so we can
09:22anticipate
09:23when they're
09:23going to
09:23challenge
09:23but we do
09:24not have
09:24the same
09:25box
09:25that you
09:25have
09:25at home
09:26apologies
09:30we're not
09:30bringing that
09:31attention
09:31to your
09:32attention
09:33it's just a
09:33matter of
09:35him just
09:35being consistent
09:36that's in
09:36between
09:36starts
09:37that's in
09:37preparation
09:38for the
09:38game
09:38and I'm
09:38not saying
09:39he's not
09:39doing those
09:39things
09:39it just
09:40it comes
09:41with time
09:42and experience
09:42and
09:43trust
09:49being comfortable
09:50with your coaches
09:50and your coaching
09:51staff
09:51and the people
09:52around you
09:52your catcher
09:53all of those
09:54things
09:54it all
09:56kind of
09:57flows together
09:5997 by him
10:00and now
10:012 and 1
10:01you know
10:01Taj
10:02he did not
10:03begin pitching
10:04regularly
10:05until he was
10:06a high school
10:06senior
10:07in fact
10:07he was a
10:08catcher
10:08when he was
10:08younger
10:09but admits
10:10he was
10:10afraid of
10:12the ball
10:12and hated
10:13his squat
10:13he would
10:14even tell
10:15the umpire
10:15before the game
10:16that hey
10:17be ready
10:17you're gonna
10:18get hit
10:18by at least
10:19five pitches
10:19today
10:22that's
10:23amazing
10:25I bet the
10:25ups like
10:26yeah
10:26thanks for
10:26telling me
10:27and
10:27why are you
10:28catching
10:28why are you
10:29catching
10:29and I'm
10:30gonna switch
10:30spots
10:31and I'm
10:31gonna take
10:31first base
10:32and let
10:32my colleague
10:32work me on
10:33the play
10:34because I'm
10:34the only guy
10:34here
10:35it doesn't
10:35take three
10:35bounces
10:36to get the
10:36ball
10:36to second
10:37base
10:37maybe
10:402 and 2
10:41on mayo
10:43look out
10:44towards the on deck
10:45area
10:46where Colton Couser
10:48is waiting
10:50Natasch he's a product
10:52of the Marquise Grissom
10:53Baseball Association
10:54in Georgia
10:55he was on the same
10:57travel ball team
10:58as Lawrence Butler
10:59of the A's
11:00and he was childhood
11:01friends with
11:02fellow Grissom alumni
11:04like Michael Harris
11:05the second
11:06and Chandler Simpson
11:07with Tampa Bay
11:09great talent
11:09to play with
11:10growing up
11:11in Georgia
11:12imagine they won
11:13a game or two
11:14pretty good
11:23pitch number 75
11:24coming up
11:25after a 33
11:26first inning
11:27pitch first inning
11:28and now a full count
11:29on man
11:36Bradley
11:37Bradley
11:37open last season
11:38in the big leagues
11:39with Tampa Bay
11:39he was the club's
11:41number three
11:41starter
11:43it's game two
11:44for the Twins
11:46and
11:47walks
11:48Mayo
11:51third walk
11:52for Bradley
11:52and Mayo
11:54is on
11:54and here comes
11:55Cousins
11:56we take a look
11:56Perk at Bradley's
11:57day so far
11:58stretches of
11:59dominance
12:00from Taj Bradley
12:01and then
12:02stretches of
12:02trying to find
12:03it a little bit
12:03he started out
12:04the game
12:04with back-to-back
12:05strikeouts
12:06he had Pete Alonzo
12:06down 0-2
12:09battled his way
12:09to a scoreless
12:11first
12:13gave up the
12:14one run
12:14in the second
12:15inning
12:15then he went
12:15out and he
12:15punched out
12:16the side
12:16in the third
12:24he's done a good
12:24job getting
12:25ahead
12:27today
12:28that was one
12:28of the keys
12:30I talked about
12:3311 of 14
12:34coming into the
12:35inning
12:35he's 1 of 3
12:35here
12:36so
12:3612 out of 17
12:38first pitch strikes
12:39that's good
12:41he's not produced
12:42a ground ball
12:42out yet though
12:43it's good to do
12:45it's a good thing
12:46we went to college
12:47and we'll figure out
12:47that math
12:48pretty quick huh
12:51carry the one
12:52add a three
12:56you're a math guy
12:58right if not baseball
12:59you've said this many
13:00times probably a math
13:01teacher
13:02right yeah
13:03summer's off
13:06that was it more than
13:07anything
13:07wasn't the numbers
13:08no
13:08can I get
13:09can I get some
13:10time off
13:12instead I chose a job
13:13that you never get a
13:13summer
13:16and you still don't
13:22one and two on
13:23Couser
13:23doubled and scored
13:24back in the second
13:27first round pick
13:28in 2021
13:31as Mayo is back in
13:32safely
13:33Mayo stole three bases
13:49he's lost
13:52struck him out
13:53the curveball again
13:57eighth strikeout for Bradley
13:59his career high is 11th
14:04how many more batters
14:05he's going to have
14:07what deeper is he going
14:08to go into this game
14:09are they going to let
14:09him see that line up
14:10the third time
14:14pitch count right at 80
14:17right around one of
14:18those numbers you're
14:19comfortable with this
14:19early in the year
14:20I'm sure they'd love to
14:21see him walk off the
14:23mound with the third
14:24out right here
14:26Jeremiah Jackson
14:26RBI single
14:28earlier today
14:3097 out
14:32is a strike
14:32it's an 0-1 count to
14:34Jackson who was the
14:35second round pick by the
14:36Angels
14:37in 2018
14:38joined the Orioles
14:40organization after the
14:412024 season
14:44debuted last year in the
14:45big leagues had 25 games
14:47with Baltimore hit five
14:48home runs
14:50and with some injuries
14:51that the Orioles
14:52sustained during spring
14:53training Jackson
14:54Holiday
14:54with a handmade bone
14:56and also third baseman
14:57Jordan Westberg out with a
14:58bad elbow
15:00there were spots to be had
15:01in camp and Jackson made
15:03the most of it
15:04hitting 314 homer twice
15:07during the Grapefruit League
15:08season
15:090-2
15:15curveball blocked by
15:16Jeffers keeping Mayo at
15:45first
15:52Anthony Banda over Dodger warming
15:56up at the pen to two.
16:02There's a question that shouldn't
16:03be asked with two outs and two
16:04strikes but you know you'll see
16:07perfect be dialed in and then
16:10the next one the miss will be a
16:11big miss is that is that feel
16:13is repeating mechanics is it
16:15intent with the pitch I mean it
16:17is it's a combination of all of
16:20that you're just you're trying to
16:21execute maybe the perfect pitch.
16:26High chopper to short Brooks Lee
16:30makes the play and there's the
16:31first ground ball out and a
16:33scoreless fourth inning from Taj
16:35Bradley.
16:41The Twins baseball is presented by
16:43Thrivent where finances and
16:45generosity are the ultimate double
16:47play and by your local Toyota
16:50dealers.
16:55Beautiful city of Baltimore
16:57Maryland the inner harbor or you'll
17:01park at Camden Yards game two of the
17:03season all tied one one as we start
17:06the fifth inning and Trevor Larnick
17:09on a breaking ball is down a strike.
17:13Larnick bounced out the second his
17:15first time up today.
17:28Larnick the former first round pick
17:30Larnick the former first round pick
17:31now twenty nine years old.
17:35More DH than outfield a season ago
17:37made seventeen starts nineteen games
17:41overall appearing in left getting
17:43back to something fellas we talked
17:45about earlier Schelte said that Josh
17:47Bell is going to DHS and first base
17:49here there that means the Trevor
17:50Larnick against righties he's going
17:52to play in the outfield and he also
17:54mentioned that Trevor Larnick wants
17:56to play in the outfield that helps
17:57him stay into the flow of the game and
18:01so I think he's had some nagging lower
18:05body things over the last couple of
18:07years that have prevented him from
18:08playing more outfield he dedicated and
18:14continues to dedicate much more time to
18:17running as a whole new running
18:19regimen that he would do off season
18:21but now doing so in season for the
18:24first time it'll do a couple hours
18:26before every game it's not ninety foot
18:31sprints but also some agility work
18:32trying to just maintain that part of
18:35his game in season for the first time
18:40changed up his cleats so I think
18:44that helps he's had some issues with
18:46his feet in his big league career
18:55Ohtani's or Larnick here this year
18:59still three and two
19:07they make them look faster like
19:10sprinter shoes so you can find some
19:12new balance
19:19that dad joke number one number four
19:22inside ball four and Larnick draws a
19:25war on air or off air off air he's
19:27already we had one we had one game
19:29one that was when Marty changed the
19:30channel shook his head said come on
19:33dad
19:37third walk for Bradish and now here's
19:39Royce looking for his first hit of
19:41the young season 0 4 1 today 0 4 3
19:52slider outside ball one
20:00with the bottom three in the lineup
20:02today all former first round picks
20:05Ryan Jeffers hitting six today he
20:08was the second round pick
20:11Larnick Lewis and Lee all homegrown
20:13first round selections
20:25Royce
20:25Royce was the number one overall pick
20:27in 2017
20:31a swing and a fly ball into left down
20:34the line in the corner back it goes
20:36and that is gone Royce Lewis with a two
20:40run homer here in the fifth and with
20:42one swing the twins have a 3-1 lead
20:57great swing never know when this
20:59ballpark it gets pretty big in a
21:01hurry out there and left look like
21:03he was watching it he knew he he got
21:06it pretty good twins get to play with
21:08their first lead but what a swing and
21:11dangerous threat down there if they
21:13get his back going to that bottom
21:14part of the lineup
21:16will do a lot to lengthen out this
21:18lineup but more than anything
21:20smile on the face and happy to play
21:22with the lead
21:24look at that hug right there
21:25Buxton and Lewis
21:29Royce
21:30push the twins on top here in the
21:31fifth there's one place for Royce
21:33that it's it's almost impossible to
21:35beat him and that's what velocity on
21:37the inside corner look at how he
21:38pulls his hands in there to meet the
21:40barrel catch that sinker out front
21:42before it gets deep on him
21:45so quick inside
21:50well he got pitch hit for late in
21:53game one for a guy who's had a lot of
21:54big moments in his career playoff
21:56homers grand slams everything else
21:58you wonder if sometimes if it's
22:00something like that that'll just wake
22:02you up a little bit maybe anger you a
22:04little bit nobody likes getting pitch
22:05hit for no matter what no matter how
22:07much you understand the situation
22:10you wonder if that's something that
22:11maybe lights a fire get some going
22:14whatever it is because he does have
22:16game changing power and he has the
22:18ability to back to baseball like
22:19like very few baseball players
22:25first home run for the twins here of
22:27the season and it's Royce Lewis
22:33well he talked about swing changes
22:35over the winter hitting coaches and
22:37then came out at a home run his first
22:39at bat of the spring and thought all
22:41right here we go and then there's a
22:43little bit of a battle the rest of
22:44the spring for him good to see him
22:47check in earlier in the year or early
22:49early in the year fill up those
22:51columns Brooks Lee is all for one
23:05today waits for the two two from
23:06Braddish and we'll do it again
23:22a year ago the Orioles staff starters
23:24bullpen combined combined to allow
23:27the fourth most home runs of any
23:31pitching staff in the game slicing
23:37foul Mayo reaching into the net and
23:41that's a clean catch
23:45the play I mentioned this earlier
23:48that Mayo a guy not known for his
23:50defense he's been great so far two
23:53games in thank you that ball off
23:55the left-handed bat has some spin on
23:58it and it's going to come back
23:59towards the field initially thought
24:01this was about ten rows deep and he
24:03just kept tracking it
24:08a really nice play first out here in
24:12the fifth inning and now Cody
24:13Clemens two at bats two strikeouts
24:16this leadoff spot towards the end of
24:20camp the last few games Clemens found
24:22his name atop the lineup against
24:24righties and then Schulte approached
24:27him about the idea he said great
24:28game on but love it something he has
24:32done many times a challenge here
24:33twins have one challenge left
24:35immediate so if they're not
24:38successful here was called the ball
24:40they're out of challenges
24:44and it was a ball so a good challenge
24:47A.B.S. balls and strikes powered by T-Mobile
24:53I love it people at home complaining
24:55about ah that's close enough the zone
24:57is what it is but now we know exactly
24:59what it is and now he gets a 2-0 count
25:01instead of a 1-1 count
25:04it doesn't swing two and one and it's
25:07no knock on no knock on the umpires
25:09because they're I mean look how much
25:10the most of these pitches we see
25:11challenged within a half inch of the
25:13plate yes they're there they've got
25:16better and better and better over
25:17the years and they're not as good as
25:19you can expect a human to be behind
25:21the plate right now but I like the
25:25fact that the strikes are strikes
25:26and balls are balls this one
25:31grounded past the mound and
25:33Jackson throws it over and there
25:36are two down 83 pitches for
25:49Braddish and here comes first year
25:51manager Craig Albert as with former
25:55twin Yenier Cano up in the bullpen he
25:58will come in and Braddish will depart
26:00here in the fifth inning Byron Buxton
26:02is coming up twins have the lead on a
26:05Royce Lewis home run and hopefully
26:07Buxton adds on against Cano when we
26:09come back
26:12Cal Ripken Jr. taking to the game
26:15here today baseballs Ironman right
26:18there twins have a 3-1 lead as the
26:21Orioles make a pitching change and
26:23former twin the Cuban Missile Yenier
26:25Cano former All-Star with the
26:27Orioles is on to face Byron Buxton
26:35numbers climb last year compared to
26:37what he did in prior seasons and
26:40ahead of Buxton on one it's a tough
26:43look for the right handed hitter
26:45that lower arm slot that fastball
26:49it just seems like it keeps chasing
26:50you as a right handed hitter like
26:54that and then throw that he's more
26:58working east west he's he's side to
27:00side that sinker in and then that
27:03whatever you want to call it I'll call
27:05it a slider that moving away from
27:08those right handed hitters a tough
27:09combination
27:14in the hole and into left field the
27:15base sit for Buxton solid swing better
27:20contact from Buxton and that was a
27:22strength of Cano he didn't now allow
27:25much on the barrel last season Buxton a
27:28couple of buck truck puffs and he's on
27:30yet again he's got the unique delivery
27:33above-average movement but that was a
27:34sinker that he just left up and into the
27:36zone trying to get that one down below
27:40and in Buck took the mistake and ripped
27:44it through the left side let's see if he
27:45tries to steal here
27:47stays put Luke Keyshaw on 95 a sinker
27:51for strike one Keyshaw 0 for 2 today
27:54he's flied out twice to Couser in
27:56center and Luke 1 for 5 to start the
28:00season so Buxton now 2 for 3 today two
28:05singles in a run
28:08stole 24 bases a season ago stays 1-1
28:24Buxton batting second Keyshaw hitting
28:26third back-to-back games we have seen
28:29this duo throw over from Cano and
28:52Byron is back in you know now 32
29:04two years old
29:05came to Baltimore as part of the
29:06Jorge Lopez trade a couple of years
29:08ago
29:10it's nasty sinker tying up Keyshaw
29:15surprise Buck hasn't taken off yet
29:17I've timed two pitches to home play I got 1-4-8 1-4-6
29:22I just wonder if Buck just isn't picking
29:24up Cano in his delivery or just wants to
29:28let Keyshaw hit but you don't mind I mean
29:31he never gets thrown out but if he does you
29:33got Keyshaw leading off the next inning
29:35instead of having Walter up there but right
29:37he stays here and the 2-2 and Keyshaw strikes
29:45out on a splitter and the inning
29:49Keyshaw saying foul ball is over and the
29:55Orioles are coming off the field and
29:58Brian Onora is saying yes it was a swing and
30:02you cannot challenge a potential foul ball
30:05Royce Lewis though but the twins on top a
30:08two-run homer down the line and the twins
30:10have the lead halfway home in Baltimore
30:120-1 to Taylor Ward as Taj Bradley is out
30:22to begin the fifth inning
30:2697 by the bat of Ward and it's 1-1 as Taj
30:30is now approaching 90 pitches thrown in
30:32his 2026 debut
30:33I guess this is his last batter with the
30:35lefty up in the pen much like we saw
30:41Joe Ryan start come back out give me
30:45one more batter matchup you like and
30:51there is Bonda who did not throw on
30:53Thursday outside at 98 and a 2-2 count
31:04earlier today Taj Bradley hit triple
31:07digits and stat cast began in 2015 that
31:12pitch is the hardest throwing pitch by a
31:14twin starter in the stat cast era we've
31:18seen relievers of course reach triple
31:20digits but no twin starter hit the radar
31:23gun in a way that Taj did earlier
31:25today the third inning triple digits
31:29with a four seamer from Bradley hardest
31:32pitch most velocity in the stat cast
31:35era by a twin starter buckling breaking
31:44ball that's a cutter beg your pardon and
31:47it freezes Ward and that's out number
31:51one and that'll be the final pitch that
31:54will be the final pitch.
31:54Taj Bradley throws today and Derek
31:57Shelton led to the mound and Bradley
32:02outstanding start to his season the
32:04pitch count climbed early but settled
32:06down after that ends his day with an
32:10outstanding 2026 debut twins bullpen
32:14going to work when we come back.
32:19Not qualified for the win but still perk a
32:21lot to like about what we saw from
32:23Taj Bradley today.
32:24Yeah and the pitch count got away from
32:26him a little bit but I thought he
32:27settled in really nice we saw the
32:28overpowering stuff he got ahead of
32:30hitters and the off-speed stuff the
32:33breaking ball exceptional today talked
32:36about the velocity last inning and it's
32:39a great first start of the season for
32:40Taj Bradley lot to be happy about proud
32:43of and a lot to build off in start
32:46number one nine strikeouts 14 swing
32:48and misses for Taj today.
32:52So he departs here in the fifth
32:54inning and now we see the twins debut
32:56of Anthony Bonda back-to-back World
32:58Series champion runs with the Dodgers
33:01and the first pitch he throws hits
33:03Gunnar Henderson up and inside and he
33:08is none too happy.
33:14I think you guys just don't like it
33:15hit especially up and in.
33:18I think some frustration there maybe
33:20got him off the end.
33:23I think some pain obviously associated
33:26with that but up by two.
33:30Obviously not throwing at you there.
33:36The last thing you want to do your
33:37first relief appearance of the year
33:39is hit the first guy and they have
33:40to face this guy as a potential
33:45tying run.
33:45I think that more had to do with the
33:46fact of where he got hit.
33:49There's Pete Alonzo to change up
33:52strike one on Alonzo one for two
33:55today one for five in his Orioles
33:58career so far.
34:04Well Henderson at first base he
34:06runs thirty three stolen bases last
34:08year.
34:15on the back to back seasons with the
34:17Dodgers ERA in the threes splits for
34:21Alonzo righties compared to lefties.
34:24this is high ball to.
34:33Round to broke in with the Diamondbacks
34:35in twenty seventeen he's bounced
34:36around.
34:44Henderson stays says Alonzo.
34:47sends a deep with foul down the right
34:49side twenty twenty three was a rough
34:51year.
34:53For Anthony on the field and off the
34:55field.
34:57His younger brother died.
35:00The tragic car accident.
35:03The offseason before twenty twenty three
35:05was pitching wasn't fun struggle
35:07the big leagues the minor leagues
35:10and nearly gave it up.
35:12Swag and a miss on a breaking ball
35:14and Alonzo is out number two.
35:18And the batter will be Adley
35:20Rutschman.
35:21With that right handed.
35:25Bonda though going back home to his
35:27family in Arizona.
35:29The fire and the passion to pitch
35:32came back when he was coaching his
35:34nephew's team and just being around
35:36the kids again.
35:38Inspired him to just be open minded
35:40to change and not giving up the
35:43dream to get back in the big leagues.
35:45And Perk we were speaking with him
35:47the other day and his mentality
35:49going into the twenty twenty four
35:50season.
35:51That was then with Cleveland.
35:52His goal wasn't make to the big
35:54leagues.
35:55His goal was to reach triple a.
35:56Yep.
35:56He just wanted to take the pressure
35:58off himself.
35:58He felt like he had nothing to lose.
36:01Ended up having a ton of fun.
36:03Butter goes and no throw from Jeffers
36:05and still the base number one for
36:07Henderson.
36:09Had a great season in twenty four.
36:12Forty eight games in ERA just over
36:13three and then last year seventy one
36:15games at three eighteen ERA and so
36:16just said like the pressure was off
36:18of him.
36:20First move.
36:22For Gunnar Henderson.
36:23That's a lefty bond.
36:27Easy bag.
36:302-0 to Rutschman.
36:32And we're close.
36:33Ball three.
36:35Rutschman today.
36:36A walk.
36:38And a strikeout.
36:46Samwell Visaya was on deck.
36:48Henderson at second.
36:49Twins by two.
36:50Bottom five.
36:57Three and one.
37:00Really found his slider with the
37:02Dodgers.
37:03In 2024.
37:11Acquired by the Twins in mid-February.
37:15And a two out walk.
37:17Puts Rutschman on.
37:18The tying run is on.
37:20And Visaya was coming up.
37:23When pests show up uninvited,
37:25Plunkets knocks them out of the
37:26park with trusted professional
37:28care.
37:29From first visit to long term
37:30prevention.
37:31Get Plunkets today.
37:36Samwell Visaya.
37:38The walk in the strikeout today.
37:40The Orioles number one prospect
37:41entering the year.
37:44He's 21 years old.
37:48There's that slider.
37:49I've been waiting to see it.
37:50He threw the one to Pete Alonzo.
37:52And I guess.
37:54Gunnar Henderson.
37:55He tried to just throw that
37:55first pitch sinker to probably
37:57set up.
37:58The slider.
37:59But he's a guy that throws that
38:00slider about 50% of the time.
38:02To both righties and lefties.
38:06Lefty on left.
38:07Abonda last year allowed just a
38:09153 batting average against.
38:12OPS under 500.
38:13And in his mind with that slider
38:15he's trying to throw a hula hoop.
38:19Grabbing the side of a hula hoop
38:20and making it spin.
38:21It's an interesting way to describe
38:25the feel in his head of what he's
38:27trying to do with that slider.
38:30And this could be why coaching is so
38:32difficult.
38:35You never know what phrase is going
38:37to click.
38:37You're not throwing a baseball.
38:38You're throwing a hula hoop.
38:39Okay.
38:40Let me go do that on a big league
38:42mound.
38:43Two on two out.
38:44Bottom five.
38:45The one two.
38:46He struck him out swinging with the
38:49slider.
38:50So Bonda comes in.
38:52Hits a man.
38:52Walks a man.
38:53But strikes out two.
38:54And the twins maintain a two run lead
38:57here in Baltimore.
39:04Welcome back.
39:06It's time for discipline that delivers
39:07brought to you by Vanguard.
39:10And Royce Lewis for the twins on top
39:13last inning with a two run homer
39:14down the left field line 378 feet.
39:18A home run in all 30 big league
39:20ballparks his first of the season
39:21and the twins lead by two.
39:25As we move to inning number six.
39:31It'll be Walner.
39:32Bell and Jeffers do up.
39:35As the Orioles make a pitching change
39:37Yenier Cano leaves the former twin
39:39in the fifth and gives way to another
39:41former twin.
39:42Dietrich Enns is out here in the sixth.
39:49See the numbers last season for Enns.
39:52Baltimore down a key left handed bullpen
39:54arm to begin the year.
39:56No Keegan Aiken for now due to injury.
40:01Enns now 34 years old was drafted by the Yankees.
40:05And then remember when Jaime Garcia was a twin for about
40:10five six days in 2017 made one start for the twins in
40:15Oakland.
40:16And then Garcia was traded to the Yankees and in return the
40:20twins received Zach Littell.
40:22And the guy on the mound, Dietrich Enns.
40:24And back then he was throwing about 90 miles an hour.
40:292017 then he came back up.
40:31He made it back to the big leagues in 21 because of a fastball
40:34that he found a jump in the velocity.
40:38He's more of a low to mid 90s guy.
40:42Now last year averaged 94 miles an hour with the fastball.
40:46One and two on Walder.
40:48And that's fouled back.
40:49One of those rare pitchers left on left.
40:51You're actually going to see fastballs.
40:53He throws his foreseamer more than anything else.
40:54The lefties will throw a cutter and will throw left on left change.
41:00Occasional sinker.
41:01But not too often you look at the number and slider for a guy
41:05coming out of the bullpen isn't one of those first two pitches.
41:12Right on cue.
41:15But he did get a couple of fastballs earlier in this at bat.
41:20The outside part of the plate.
41:24Cody Funderburg.
41:26Up at the bullpen he threw on Thursday.
41:302-2 to Walder.
41:32No full count.
41:35Walder he showed good plate discipline.
41:38Walking a few times.
41:40On Thursday Josh Bell the switch hitter is on deck.
41:50To shallow left center.
41:52And three Orioles converge.
41:54And coming in is Cousin.
41:57Walder now 0-2 with a walk.
41:59And the first out here in the sixth inning.
42:02So Curry you are a broadcaster extraordinary.
42:05You're really good at what you do.
42:06How would you describe Blaze?
42:07I feel like I'm walking into a place that I've known these people my whole life.
42:16What a way for Josh Bell.
42:20Fly RBI tied the game in the fourth.
42:23And also a strikeout.
42:26For Josh today.
42:36Crushed to left field on a line right in front of the warning track goes Ward.
42:42The sound again when it left his back.
42:45A deep part of this ballpark as over the years the Orioles have moved the fences in then back.
42:51The line drive is still an out.
42:53And there are two down here in the sixth.
42:55Just keep hitting them 102 with 22 degrees of launch.
43:00Good things are going to happen.
43:01But it's hard when you haven't got off to the start.
43:03You exactly want to.
43:06To feel good about making hard outs.
43:07In spring training you feel good about those.
43:09But when the season starts you just want hits.
43:11But if you're able to consistently continue to do that.
43:14You have to keep telling yourself.
43:16Things are going to work out my way.
43:24Well two on Ryan Jeffers.
43:27You know Terry Ryan once said.
43:29And he was referencing Josh Willingham's first year with the twins back in 2012.
43:33Willingham had a great year.
43:35That there is that that pressure.
43:37That an offensively driven player takes on that first year with the new team.
43:42And what Willingham did and accomplished is not the norm.
43:46To just have that kind of success year one.
43:49And Jeffers up the middle.
43:50Diving stop.
43:51Henderson to his feet.
43:52Throws him out.
43:53Good play.
43:55By one of the game's best players.
43:57Gunnar Henderson robbing Ryan Jeffers of a two out hit.
44:02Henderson.
44:03Going to his left.
44:05With the dive.
44:07The pop.
44:08The throw.
44:08That is our unreal play of the game.
44:11So far in Baltimore.
44:16Twins still up three to one with Cody Funderburg coming into pitch for the second time this season already for
44:22the twins.
44:22And in case you missed it on Thursday.
44:25Funderburg has a new jersey number and a new Rolex to go with it courtesy of Taylor Rogers.
44:31Back during Twins Fest, Rogers went over to Funderburg and showed him the Rolex that he was wearing and said,
44:37you know, I've given a couple of these to other 55s over the years.
44:41So would this suffice for you?
44:43And Fundy kind of just laughed and said, yeah, absolutely.
44:47Now the reality is Funderburg told me he was planning to just give 55 to Taylor Rogers because he had
44:53so much respect for him as a pitcher.
44:54He didn't need anything in return.
44:57But let's be honest, who's going to turn down a Rolex?
44:59And I think we all know Taylor Rogers probably would have given it to him anyways.
45:03So Funderburg was debating between 51 and 57 and he figured, you know, there's some good history with lefty pitchers
45:09wearing a 57 for the twins, a.k.a.
45:12Johan Santana.
45:13So he settled on 57.
45:14I think it looks good on Fundy, guys.
45:16Right, Audra.
45:17Good looking number on Funderburg here.
45:19Now in his second game of the season, Tyler O'Neal is pinch hitting for Dylan Beavers.
45:24It's a lefty-righty matchup here.
45:26Twins by two of the sixth.
45:28A lot of big fans of Mike Redmond's number 55.
45:31Little double nickels.
45:33Speed limit.
45:36O'Neal injury play, 20-25.
45:39In his second season now with the Orioles after signing a three-year contract before last year.
45:44O'Neal over his career.
45:46Great numbers against left handed pitching but injury plague 20-25 his numbers overall went down especially against lefties.
45:561-2 from Funderburg and a swing and a miss on a breaking ball sweeper.
46:03One out.
46:0512 strikeouts for twin staff today.
46:09Good breaking ball from Funderburg ended up clipping the zone but in the zone for a long time.
46:15But O'Neal not able to stay back.
46:22One away for Kobe Mayo who's lined out and walked today.
46:27I want to bring back a conversation we had about Funderburg during spring training just about.
46:32And we mentioned it a bit the other day that yes having the long runway to not worry about a
46:36bad showing.
46:37With the two months that he had last season post trade deadline but also made perk a mechanical change.
46:43And it went back to a conversation that Cody had with former teammate Michael Tonkin.
46:47He was gripping the ball tightly.
46:49He just did not feel right mechanically.
46:51And Cody was talking about his lower half and Tonkin's advice was pretty simple.
46:56He said how about just taking a breath and be lazy with your lower half.
47:00And that resonated with Funderburg.
47:02It's try easier.
47:06And in most sports if you're trying to accomplish something the harder you try the more difficult it's going to
47:12become.
47:12And so if you can just convince yourself to let it flow.
47:17To go easy.
47:18So I think that's kind of where that comes from.
47:21It's not stride home and push off the rubber and grip the ball tight.
47:28It's make everything easy.
47:31And command is going to improve.
47:33Movement is going to improve.
47:34Probably velocity is going to improve.
47:36And it's worked for Cody Funderburg.
47:38Another really good breaking ball.
47:41Sends Kobe Mayo to his knees.
47:44So two down.
47:46And Colton Couser.
47:47This spot due up.
47:49He will not bat.
47:50Instead it's going to be Ryan Mountcastle.
47:52This guy's had some huge games over the years.
