00:00of course it means it gets to a point where the tires are starting to degrade in a performance
00:05and lap time and that allows your challengers to catch you at a higher rate
00:10beautifully explained thank you very much karoon chandok
00:14another lap goes by another lap closer to the checkered flag for kimmy antonelli aiming for
00:20grand prix history here in miami this afternoon he's taken his first three poles in consecutive
00:30one two of those races from pole before we're sliding everywhere hey whilst his teammate is getting
00:39all the sliding kimmy antonelli is slithering his way slinking his way through those corners and
00:46onto a potential third career grand prix victory and taking it from his first three grand prix poles
00:54and no driver has ever done that in the history of formula one and this is this is a big
01:01moment if
01:01mercedes win this race because they know they're out of sync with the upgrades as you were just
01:05explaining with regard to montreal although i don't believe mclaren are taking some bits and pieces too
01:10but this is this was the big ace card that ferrari mclaren played this weekend if mercedes still win
01:17i can understand why george russell is pretty angsty out there he's thick end of half a minute behind
01:23his teammate and he hasn't got any grip and he's not happy
01:28very much so he knew he was in a fight for this championship and had all the respect in the
01:33world
01:33for kimmy antonelli before he came to miami and he very much ignores it will admit now that that fight
01:40is real voucher bottas has just been shown a black and white flag for ignoring blue flags he's getting
01:46all the flags and all the colors showed at one time there i think and lando norris then outside of
01:51the overtake one second detection zone now so does not get the benefit of a bit more power and a
01:58bit
01:58more speed the clerk should catch verstappen in around three laps start getting tasty ahead
02:04yes because if leclerc gets a bit held up then that might be an opportunity for you
02:09young oscar and he's another one that's lagging behind his teammate a little bit if you talk about
02:15george russell and antonelli piastri and norris i think have a bit similar yeah judging by the last
02:21lap leclerc will be on verstappen with the in two laps time um if he keeps that sort of pace
02:27up he's
02:28just on a personal best charlac clear and uh dragging uh piastri and to an extent russell along
02:34with him there's your race leader kimmy antonelli there's your world champion and driver in second
02:42place lando norris whatever happens from here on in whether lando wins this race or not at least he
02:49won't be finishing fifth where he's finished both of his starts in 2026 so far kind of feels at the
02:55moment lando doesn't have an answer to antonelli's kimmy antonelli's speed doesn't it well the gap is
03:01now in you know around two seconds martin it's uh maybe maybe kimmy has found his groove a little
03:07bit he's found his swagger a little bit and those rear tires yeah cool them down and and that's helping
03:13him he's got a back marker ahead of him the one remaining racing ball still running that's arvid
03:20limblad meanwhile charlac clear can see a car ahead that car ahead is max verstappen who pitted
03:27some 37 laps ago to put those hard tires on they went red bull if i can use nfl parlance
03:35for the hail
03:36mary strategy uh gone long long long for a few more spots but it might not give them the uh
03:42the podium
03:42that they thought could have been possible helped out a bit by running some laps behind the safety car
03:48but verstappen's having to use all his four titles worth of experience here to keep that car as quick
03:53as he can and all four tires at one point or another he has used us the barging his way
03:58through but it's
03:59been spectacular and very max let's see how hard he wants to defend and indeed if he can defend uh
04:08towards
04:08the end of some of these straights it's worth pointing out as well you know kimmy antonelli losing
04:13places at the start again but on course to keep up the record this year of every race being won
04:18from pole and him him winning from uh from pole uh for three races in a row it isn't where
04:24you start
04:24it's where you finish so i just wonder how concerned he'll be about some of those race starts because it
04:30it comes good eventually yeah yeah absolutely i mean antonelli you know again
04:39watch track limits please he's gone off at least twice now but he hasn't been he hasn't been noted as
04:46going off track limits though he's talking about antonelli of course he hasn't not been noted
04:50funnily enough lando has been noted for track limits once
04:58it's uh you get that bird's eye view that was around about five minutes ago when he went off at
05:04turn five on on lap 42 here we go max verstappen can see in his wing mirrors charl leclerc and
05:13he can
05:13see how much leclerc is getting the speed behind him and getting closer to him and you just get the
05:20feeling max has experienced enough to not hugely fight this because the more he does fight it the
05:25more that's gonna hamper him in keeping these tires in alive in some way shape or form to the end
05:33of
05:33the race yeah it'll be it'll need to be done i think at the end of the straight with some
05:38energy
05:38i think approaching max will be like approaching a hornet's nest at the moment
05:45he was eighth wasn't he at the end of the first lap after that spin max verstappen
05:49he uh was down in 16th after he pitted for for those tires i mean it will still be a
05:55net gain
05:56even if he's caught by george russell we have a second strike for track limits so no more gimme
06:00no more well if it has come through and registered it hasn't come through and registered on our
06:06particular monitor the first one has now yeah okay it's just updating itself yeah um so there must
06:13have been one much earlier on in the grand prix that's off our screen yeah you don't want to get
06:18that black and white flag and then really be under pressure right here comes charles clare
06:22on max verstappen this is for a podium spot charles clare started third in this race he finished third
06:29in the sprint he finished third in the japanese grand prix he's looking for third place here
06:34not going to make the move here and this is allowing oscar piastri currently to start gaining a bit he's
06:41got
06:41that gap to about three seconds between himself and charles clare can leclair blast past verstappen
06:47here yes he can picked his moment charles clare up into third place verstappen will try and fight it
06:54to no avail job done for charles clare
06:58sort of deja vu there those two in the first corner because that's how it started and here comes max
07:03back
07:03again you just knew wow he's going back that's how he's been driving all afternoon brilliant love it
07:11well you think the move's done you think you know on fresher tires and charles clare has been on his
07:16for uh for 15 laps less that that move is done there and the clare you know he's going to
07:21blast off into
07:22the distance but that was super from max verstappen but did he use too much boost and can leclair get
07:27back again into turn 11 and that answer might be yes he can as charles clare gets about a car
07:32length
07:33their heads and just slams the door shut in the face of the dutchman to try and preserve that third
07:39place piastri's right there too now as well so max did his best to fend that off but at the
07:45end of
07:46the day he doesn't his tires are now 40 laps old yes that gap between charles clare and oscar piastri
07:52just before leclair got past verstappen had pretty much halves but of course piastri has now
07:58uh got to get on terms with verstappen and pass him what is it uh what is the great man
08:03said it's
08:04uh one thing to catch it's another thing to pass indeed so fernando alonso has been a black and
08:12white flag last final warning for track limits um which is a bit bizarre he's a long way down there
08:19in 16th place he has at least pitted now uh to be fair and look these down shifts they don't
08:25work
08:25says kimmy antonelli and mercedes just monitoring that as we've got a yellow flag uh that just uh
08:31waving very very briefly uh on the side of the uh the track someone had gone off at turn 17
08:37piastri is right on the tail of max verstappen and you would imagine down into turn 11 he will want
08:44to get that move done so he can keep on his pursuits of charles clare yeah piastri wants to be
08:50on the
08:50podium he needs to quickly dispatch the red bull on tires that probably would not pass an mot test
08:57yeah he's already uh lost in the first sector six tenths to charles clare on this lap uh alone
09:04here comes piastri active aero is open on both cars max verstappen stays ahead into uh turn 11
09:11frustration there from the aussie for the aussie i'm sure because there's no way he's going to get
09:16passed through this particular sector he's going to have to wait for that back straight maybe use up
09:21a bit more energy than he really would have liked but he's almost pushing that red bull around turn
09:2616 and he is right now on verstappen's tail as the active aero opens and the drag is reduced
09:32piastri had so much more mechanical grip through the mickey mouse section and that's what's put him
09:37into play and then he'll have to watch out down the pit straight verstappen will try to hang it
09:43around the outside but then he needs to squeeze him and take the line but verstappen then will he have
09:49any energy will he have any power mode to come back at him towards turn one he's there is he
09:56close
09:56enough well he's not quite close enough and as they put the brakes on the battery levels get topped up
10:03into both cars and i'm sure oscar piastri will be very thankful uh for that i mean another straight
10:08line mode uh coming up now watch that red bull rear wing you might not have seen it uh during
10:13the course
10:13of this weekend if you're only just tuning in it flips 180 degrees it kind of does the macarena or
10:18the
10:18the maxarena as they like to call it uh down it's uh red bull and it gives you even more
10:25uh i think of
10:26a gap than the mclaren one it's it's phenomenal there goes the active aero on the mclaren and the red
10:31bull
10:31as well i think it's game on now between uh piastri and leclerc for the final step on the podium
10:38and norris still very much keeping antonelli inside karoon yeah norris is keeping the pressure on
10:44antonelli and he's not very comfortable antonelli martin i've heard him a few messages on the radio
10:49saying i'm having problems with downshift there's something weird going on with this car
10:53it's not a particularly relaxing feeling for him as the reigning world champion bears down that pressure
10:59sitting still outside the overtake zone at about one and a half seconds but not all calm in the
11:06mercedes at the moment interesting stuff i would think bono will be telling no you don't need to share
11:11all that information we we can find a better way to let us know what's going on than telling our
11:17rivals
11:17that we've got potential issues but if lando norris has been saving any performance we're getting to
11:23that phase now where he needs to start delivering it 430 grand prix for fernando alonso 285 for
11:30sergio perez his teammate by the way valtteri bottas starting his 250th grand prix this weekend and
11:36congratulations to him but alonso and perez are having their little scrap now alonso on the soft
11:40tire after pitting uh just what six laps ago and this is the battle currently for 15th place
11:47aster martin are on course for a first double car finish of the season it's a small crumb of comfort
11:53for them i'm sure but it will be some crumb of comfort for a team that have been on the
11:58back foot
11:58so probably about 10 yards behind it uh right from pre-season testing just to uh put in perspective
12:05how well antonelli and norris are going here they could they've got a pit stop in their pockets they
12:11made a pit stop they'd still come out first and second just but that's the margin by which they
12:18be sort of excelled out front and that gap between antonelli and norris has has grown
12:25uh on this uh particular lap by about uh by about three tenths of a second we're on lap 50
12:31uh george russell and max verstappen will be very close to each other uh very soon talking of getting
12:36close fernando alonso and sergio perez now on the uh drag down towards turn 11
12:42aster martin hasn't got the straight line speed if we think back to that pit stop where mercedes pitted
12:47antonelli first got him out and just got out and stayed out ahead of norris that that was it wasn't
12:54it that's made the difference 3.7 second stationary for lando norris where one rear tire was a little
13:00bit sticky as you say coming off martin that that could be the key uh to this race now an
13:06awful lot
13:06else has happened it has to be said kimmy antonelli did start from uh pole before uh lando norris uh
13:13got past him at the uh the start but yeah it didn't help that pit stop norris has caused that
13:19is for sure well it was the lap really it was the extra lap whoa that that's a big old
13:24slide there from
13:25uh kimmy antonelli while he's sliding george russell who was complaining about sliding is now saying the
13:32car feels a bit more together that's bizarre isn't it yeah as fuel's kind of burnt down it's that much
13:38lighter now as as well maybe that's made something of a difference so behind max verstapp and george
13:47russell uh catching him lewis hamilton with damage on his car from that first lap contact with color
13:53pinto uh is still in seventh and running in kind of no man's land at the moment not close to
13:59russell and
14:00well ahead of franco color pinto in eighth yeah and now antonelli's got a back marker or a lapped
14:05runner between him and norris but not anymore as they head down the pit straight but norris then
14:11again now two seconds behind i don't think he's got i don't think he's got an answer i don't think
14:18he's got an answer for antonelli's ultimate pace out front and i mentioned color pinto in eighth just a
14:25moment ago that would equal his best ever grand prix result which he picked up in baku in
14:292024 from the next that there is a chance of light drops chance of light drops nothing you would
14:37imagine to really impact on the end of this race no because the track temp is 36 there's quite a
14:43lot
14:43of warmth out there the tires are nicely warm so it um it'll take more than a few light drops
14:49i think
14:49to slow these things down that's it let's head down to you yeah good point you make about uh franco
14:54color pinto he has had an eighth just one before so this would equal as you say crofty his best
14:59result
14:59uh good potential double points finish for williams which is much more than they thought they were
15:04going to get uh coming into this weekend so great stuff science and alban have managed to get a result
15:09ahead of the has of ollie bearman has just dropped off the back of them by six or so seconds
15:14so has losing
15:15some performance lewis hamilton's been seventh more or less the whole race so if he's asking how i'm
15:20seventh it's been a lonely race with damage to his car he's just been there or thereabouts and finally
15:25on the rain crofty um you heard that radio message might be the odd little drop of rain in the
15:30next
15:31few laps but the bulk of the rain isn't coming until 5 p.m local which would have been an
15:37hour into the
15:38original start time so if the organizers and the fia were trying to keep everyone safe and dry
15:44and avoid a wet race then they made the right decision by bringing it forward by three hours
15:49yeah absolutely the correct call and uh thank you for joining us and uh switching on uh three hours
15:54earlier than originally intended and commiserations uh to our amazing uh crew uh here at sky sports who
16:02look like martin they might be packing up in the rain uh this evening yeah the d-rig gangs in
16:08the paddock
16:08have got plenty on haven't they and everything obviously a lot of stuff will head up to montreal
16:14um for the for the next grand prix but meanwhile we've still got these last uh four laps five laps
16:22including this one actually um and if as i said london norris has got anything in his pocket
16:29he's got to start delivering it but i can't see it we haven't seen any signs of it have we
16:34that he
16:34that he can do anything other than match antonelli out front of that top five it is worth reminding
16:42you uh or telling you for the first time if you're only just tuning in max verstappen does have to
16:47go
16:47and see the stewards after this race uh for uh an infringement that could be crossing the line at the
16:54end
16:54of the pit lane did his tire make contact or cross over uh the white line where you're not allowed
17:00to on
17:01the left hand side and the stewards have decided they actually want to talk about it after the race
17:06rather than during the race and look at whatever pictures they've got uh that could be a five second
17:10penalty coming verstappen's way it would drop him down into sixth even if george russell can't catch him
17:16um stewards are can give a 10 second penalty but probably not for that uh to be honest but it's
17:24just worth having in the back of your mind uh for the man who uh well spun around on the
17:30uh opening
17:31corner and then has been uh putting the spin to good use of making his way back through the field
17:36and i have to say 46 laps on that hard compound tire and to go to the end would be
17:41what 40 uh 49 laps
17:43that will be a pretty super effort on one set of tires russell's right on the back of estappen now
17:49and george say george has just done a personal best there is the red bull in front of him saying
17:55my car suddenly feels better um and he's proving that with the lap time so a really good chance then
18:01for him to sneak a fifth place here it was seven points wasn't it the gap between george russell
18:09and kimmy antonelli coming into this race at the top 24 points almost a race victory
18:14uh when we get to canada which is another sprint race weekend unless george passes uh max max of
18:21course or max uh that pit lane uh line i think we'll have to wait and see driver of the
18:27day vote
18:27closes in two laps max for stamp and leading that vote at the moment and has the advantage over george
18:33russell but for how much longer meanwhile we watch this battle oscar piastri
18:38has got a lot closer uh to charles clare's uh just over a second uh that gap uh currently and
18:46that
18:46might be going all the way uh to the line as well as piastri just got a bit more pace
18:50to make a
18:51a lunge on the final lap of this race kimmy antonelli now lapping in the 131s and he's the only
18:58driver
18:59uh doing that currently as he extends his lead over lando norris here comes george russell and max
19:04verstappen verstappen moves over uh to the insides george russell was tentatively looking at a move
19:10there uh might just think better of it does think better of it and just gets caught behind that rear
19:16wing of the red bull loses a bit of downforce as a result he's still got the power though uh
19:21to get
19:21on the throttle and make his way towards turn one almost alongside the red bull max verstappen holding
19:28up george russell here and doing a mighty fine job of it but russell's now got the opportunity
19:34to come back at him on the next stretch russell i think russell's got a problem right front
19:38did it was there oh he has got a problem damage yeah yeah he's got front wing damage it's scraping
19:43along on the ground he got very close uh to verstappen couldn't see that they touched but
19:49there's definitely is it that's got it yeah look it's that it flips up when he gets to a certain
19:55speed yeah it's uh when he gets on the throttle front wing goes down and it starts scraping along
20:03the floor he gets a certain speed and he flips back up again whatever is so that's not going to
20:10help george russell whatsoever but i said piastri was catching charles leclerc i wonder if leclerc's
20:15tires are going off a touch because he's now got tires that have done 33 laps and that's seven laps
20:20more uh than oscar piastri's had piastri could still yet take a podium spot while we watch that at the
20:26end of the back straight coming onto the back straight russell's still catching verstappen yeah
20:30very much so it's not slowed russell down too much so he's right behind him and in fact now i
20:36think
20:36he's moved ahead of him but let's see what max does on the brakes we're not watching it i'm watching
20:41on the driver track and max back in front again yeah we just uh there he goes max verstappen two
20:47laps to go here piastri can't quite get past charles leclerc uh into the uh hairpin but he's got a
20:53chance down towards turn one george russell is gaining on max verstappen and into turn uh one we go
21:02with those two uh it is still verstappen ahead out in front gap is three seconds on the penultimate lap
21:09of this race antonelli is getting ready to celebrate again we see a problem with the rear wing dropping
21:15out just be careful a bit everywhere
21:20that is one of the reasons then why that gap has suddenly got ever more so here comes oscar piastri
21:26on charles leclerc into the next left-hander we go turn 11 charles leclerc goes deep piastri can't
21:33force his way past and now it's a single file for the next a few corners lap 56 of 57
21:41george russell
21:42and max verstappen separated by just a car lens grand slam finish here for a grand slam champion
21:48who's got the checkered flag in his hand rafa nadal kimmy antonelli who's a great tennis uh fan
21:54is out in front and getting ready to receive that at the end of this lap but behind him
21:59into the podium places goes oscar piastri he's got a heads of charles leclerc our leaders on the final
22:05lap piastri will start the final lap in third place and it could be mclaren 2-3 here oh and
22:11leclerc got a massive oversteer coming out of turn 17 and 18 and that's taking away any chance to come
22:17back at piastri down into the first corner and that looks then like piastri has that podium position
22:23quite comfortable at the moment but he's still got to complete this lap oh and charles leclerc has
22:29spun around and is out of this race george russell oh he has got it got it going george russell
22:36is ahead
22:36of max verstappen how did charles leclerc not hit the barriers there that is the save of the century
22:42but he might still uh to be out of this race because he looks like he's got a problem letting
22:47arvid linblad uh just go past one of the back markers while this is happening our race leader
22:53making his way down the back straight and he's got three more corners to go to celebrate his third
22:59victory in a grand prix in formula one he took his third pole position in a row here and he's
23:07going to
23:08convert it into victory didn't start particularly well kimmy antonelli he's going to finish it in
23:14spectacular style though once twice three times a grand prix winner kimmy antonelli wins the miami
23:20grand prix and for the first time ever a driver takes his first three poles in succession and
23:26converts them into grand prix victories in succession history made here in miami lando norris takes second
23:34place for mclaren piastri ahead of leclerc george russell is behind charles leclerc and gaining on him
23:41down that back straight so piastri crosses the line now to complete the podium places we're on
23:48board with george russell who's up into fourth place charles leclerc on the inside trying to fight
23:55that one max verstappen right behind charles leclerc these three cars are going to be separated by about
24:00six car lengths at the line russell front wing dragging on the grounds and max verstappen gets
24:06passed charles leclerc russell ahead in fourth place up verstappen in fifth and leclerc in sixth
24:12because leclerc did actually hit the wall and recovered so he's got car damage suspension damage
24:17no that's why it's such an appalling last lap get in there kimmy had to work for that one today
24:24mate
24:24but what a great drive yes man what a race what a race man oh my god very exciting
24:38oh that is jubilation once more for kimmy antonelli his dad is here again he runs a racing team he
24:45knows
24:46a thing or two about winning and his son is finding that winning feeling in formula one that is for
24:50sure
24:51lewis hamilton comes home to take seventh place franco colopinto eight equaling his best result in
24:56formula one then signs then album that's the top 10 this is what happened to charles leclerc how did he
25:02avoid a race ending accident well he avoided it by making contact with the wall with his front left
25:11tire not the rear wing
25:16so he's damaged him so basically it started slide because the tire is a bit older they just wouldn't
25:21come back would it just called him out it got to that sort of point of no return and uh
25:28getting over
25:29the line then he made contact with george russell as well russell russell's finished the race with a
25:34damaged car max verstappen might have had a bit of a damaged car because he's made contact earlier
25:40charles leclerc has definitely got a damaged car and that's how the three of them crossed the line
25:44wow fourth fifth and sixth that's a cracking race wasn't it i enjoyed that race what will lando think of
25:50it yeah well done how did we not win this we should have won guys good try good effort nice
25:56to see the
25:57progress yeah well done let's keep pushing guys we can get back to winning we can make it easier for
26:02ourselves thank you very much so there was what 1.8 seconds i believe between lando norris and
26:11kimmy antonelli mercedes went for the undercut pitted first and as a combination of his driving
26:18yeah sofka well done that is a really well deserved podium p3 amazing yeah that was uh down to the
26:26wire well
26:26done everybody uh yeah good race yeah third from seventh not bad at all for piastri so it's a
26:33combination of antonelli's driving and a slow pit stop for mclaren things flip around a little bit
26:39and norris didn't have the answer to try and get past can you understand why he would be very frustrated
26:45with that result yeah obviously they lost out in the pit stop and they've lost track position and that
26:51that's why lando's like hang on we had we were fast enough we won the sprint we're fast enough to
26:55win
26:55this race we haven't won it and he's not happy but if he was happy you'd be worried
27:03that man's happy well both of them are uh to be fair it's another victory kimmy antonelli
27:10extending his advantage at the top george russell picking up a couple of places then in the last
27:16couple of laps and that will certainly help him 12 points he scored he was looking at uh eight points
27:21at one stage charles claire limping home in sixth did superbly well uh to finish this race
27:29and he is doing superbly well race after race after race he uh the first lap he led of this
27:37race was
27:38his 100th grand prix lap led and he put a few more in after that as once again he dives
27:44into the
27:44embracing arms uh of his teammates and gets a big hug uh from dad too
27:52it's not like we've been short of compliments for kimmy antonelli so far in his racing career
27:57we're gonna have to find a few more yeah he's just growing in stature growing in confidence isn't he
28:03and he's keeping his head with a lot of help i think from uncle bono on his radio what a
28:09combination
28:10they're turning out to be as well just you could sort of hear there were points there where kimmy's
28:14getting a bit overexcited about gear shift paddles and tire temperatures and all that and just kept
28:19it a little bit he's got such raw speed and he's got a lot of car control you see he's
28:24very happy if
28:25the car happy that it's moving around but he he can handle the car moving around that's a really
28:30key skill that not many drivers can especially cars this powerful can uh can tolerate that sort of
28:37movement damon hill mika hacken and kimmy antonelli the only drivers to win the first
28:42three grand prix consecutively and center michael schumacher kimmy antonelli the only drivers to
28:49take their first three poles consecutively kimmy antonelli the first driver ever to take his first
28:55three career wins consecutively from his first three career poles he's got he's in the record books
29:00already and not just for being the youngest to do something yeah exactly that's uh quite the list
29:07to join isn't it and he did it in style he's he's he's won all i mean he got a
29:11bit lucky let's be
29:11honest he got lucky in japan with the safety car but his pace when he did get the lead there
29:16was
29:18absolutely mighty and it was again today and uh that's a big that's a big statement for mercedes to win
29:26that grand prix it certainly is mercedes win in miami for the first time and for the first time
29:35here in miami somebody wins from the front row as well i told you signing out the gift this weekend
29:42wow it's kind of i need to see some highlights of all all the things that went on in that
29:47grand prix
29:47from the well from turn two wasn't it really when max went around and um
29:57sergio perez down there in park fermi and franco colopinto as well
30:01a good race uh for him ferrari sixth and seventh that's going to hurt isn't it
30:05it should have been fourth for charlotte clary he got past but then trying to
30:11force the issue back again it's just too much power and had that a big spin now george russell
30:18has been noted just to let you know um and the stewards are having a look at george russell down
30:22at the hairpin at turn 17 for moving under braking you're not allowed to move in the braking zone did
30:29he do that when he was trying to protect uh that uh that fourth place with uh verstappen and and
30:36charl
30:37clare all around him maybe karuna have a look at that on the skypad in a bit i think it
30:41was when
30:41he was probably taking the fourth place wasn't it um and then then defending it as he's uh making that
30:48move let's see it's uh it's a hot one here today well it didn't rain did it just did for
31:01kimmy
31:01antonelli there but no not from the skies that is for sure uh yeah so the stewards are going to
31:07have
31:08a look at that max verstappen uh will be investigated for uh crossing the white line at the end of
31:13the
31:14pit lane jensen button is down in park ferme with two mclarens and a mercedes welcome to miami kimmy
31:22i mean that was a master class um they didn't make it easy for you there was a lot of
31:28great fighting out
31:29there and especially with turn one but you came came through at the end with a really strong victory
31:35and a great last in yeah i mean um star was uh not as bad as yesterday was a little
31:41bit better
31:42i didn't expect charge to break that early so to avoid them obviously i lock up and then i was
31:48a bit
31:48lucky with how you know with what happened then in turn two and then i did a little mistake with
31:53uh with
31:54energy management trying to overtake charge and then i lost the place to lando but then the face
31:59was strong i was able to stay close and then the team did a great strategy we did a massive
32:04undercut and
32:05then we managed to bring it home even though it was not easy i i know you're thinking about this
32:10moment
32:10in time but today you made history the first driver to win his first three grand prix from pole position
32:17and you're only 19. i mean it's so impressive no thank you thank you i mean this is just the
32:24beginning uh the road is still long but uh we're working super hard and uh you know the team is
32:30doing an incredible job and uh without them i wouldn't be here so mainly thanks to them to my family
32:36and uh yeah i'm gonna enjoy this one and then get back to work because canada is in two weeks
32:41time
32:41well congratulations and uh take a nice rest thank you the next one cheers thank you thank you so much
32:53lando the first stint looks amazing you know great fighting out there with charles
32:58and kim the pace didn't seem quite as good and maybe the pit stop was uh was quite an important
33:03one
33:04um i mean a mixed bag really uh we just got undercut there's no excuses other than that we got
33:09undercut we
33:10the box first um kimmy did a good job uh you know hats off to mark and kimmy they drove
33:16a good race um
33:18easy to make mistakes out there with the big braking zones and with these cars but he didn't make any
33:22big enough for me to capitalize on so i have to be happy i think as a team we have
33:26to be happy um i'm
33:28gutted to miss out on a win here in miami i think it was possible today but uh yeah not
33:32the pace to get
33:33back past him in the end so we take it on the chin but um still a positive weekend all
33:38together good yeah
33:38the racing out there looks looks great from the outside how was it racing wheel to wheel out there
33:43do you feel a good improvement from yourselves but also from formula one as a whole um so so um
33:50it's still i mean so it was still good i still enjoyed the racing honestly as things have improved
33:55some things are the same um but today was still about who could make the least mistakes who could
34:00push in the correct areas uh and it looked good i guess if you guys enjoyed it then i'm very
34:05happy you
34:05know so um it was tough you still have to be i mean you have to be tactical with how
34:09you use the
34:09battery you can easily just get caught up in the wrong wrong kind of uh running of things and get
34:17caught out badly but other than that i feel like i did a good job and the team did a
34:20good job all
34:21weekend so i have to i have to be proud of everyone progress progress good man thank you
34:28oscar um we didn't really seize that much of you on the screens initially but um a great fight through
34:34in the end uh it looked like you know after after suzuka where you were so strong at the start
34:39of the
34:40race it's been a bit of a trickier weekend especially qualifying but you came through the
34:44end and picked up a great podium there yeah definitely it's not been the most straightforward
34:48of weekends i think uh yeah qualifying yesterday was a bit messy for both of us but the pace seemed
34:53more encouraging again today and um you had to make a few overtakes obviously the end of the race was
34:59a
34:59a pretty late charge but um yeah just very very tricky around here especially in these conditions
35:04so uh thanks to the team you know clearly we were a step step closer in performance once again so
35:10uh
35:10yeah it's uh nice to see you you must it must be promising to see obviously lando doing a good
35:17job this weekend and seeing yourselves get so much closer to uh to the mercedes obviously with sprint
35:22race you were in front of them so if you must have a positive attitude moving forward to canada
35:28yeah definitely i think uh you know this weekend we showed that if we get track position we can we
35:33can hang on to things well you know we were close in japan but uh we've definitely taken a
35:38step forward and hopefully in canada we can take another step forward again so yeah excited for
35:43the future thank you thank you cheers oscar piastri and lando norris and your winner this afternoon
35:50kimmy antonelli with jensen button down in park ferme meanwhile a few moments ago in the pit lane
35:57ted kravitz caught up with the team principal at mclaren andrea stella well andrea well done it's a
36:04double podium so you've ended the the weekend with a sprint a sprint with a one two and a and
36:09a two
36:09and a two three would you have taken that before the weekend started 100 100 100 we don't have to
36:15forget where we come from we come from a relatively difficult start of the season uh we reacted we
36:23always said internally irrespectively or where we are at the start we know what we are capable of
36:29so i think we have demonstrated big big thank you to the team for the hard work that led us
36:35to
36:35delivering all the upgrades in various areas of the car they have made us competitive well done
36:40they made us competitive and when it's so close then it's you know it's a matter of execution sometimes
36:47it's a matter of details i think mercedes they still have a little bit of advantage on us uh but
36:55it's good to be there and uh the championship is still very long i'm sure you heard lando on the
37:00radio
37:00like we heard saying we could have won it um is there a anything to the point of view that
37:07maybe
37:07you were being a bit conservative maybe with an eye on the weather and let kimmy pit first and with
37:14a
37:14great out lap he closed and was able to rejoin and take the lead i think you summarize it well
37:19uh we had
37:21an opportunity to win 100 we were chased by a car that was a little bit faster than us we
37:27were monitoring
37:28the weather at the same time and uh when kimmy pitted his uh out lap was just mega we couldn't
37:36match it
37:36with our performance in the in lap we lost uh possibly a little bit of time in the execution
37:43um we could have done better but we are very happy we take all the positive out of this weekend
37:48we are there there's some new stuff coming for the coming races so exciting exciting time ahead of us
37:55very good congratulations on the weekend very solid thank you very much
38:00andrea stella with ted kravitz just to let you know that while we were hearing from ted and andrea
38:06that charles claire is going to be investigated for leaving the track multiple times and gaining an
38:12advantage he definitely left the track did he gain an advantage the top three are on their way to the
38:18podium and we can reflect martin on some of the drama of the last few laps this is the max
38:24verstappen george russell incident where contact was made and we saw the end result of george russell's
38:29front wing being damaged now did he move under braking here
38:35absolutely not not in that one if that's what they're talking about the first corner was racing
38:40incident really i don't see anybody actually um there's george pulling out is he going to move in
38:48the braking zone we don't see the braking zone so here's charles claire's spin yeah and then we do
38:54see him with damaged suspension we do see him sort of in some uncharted territory here and there on that
39:01lap that was contact i don't think george moved there either ready did he uh he certainly left enough
39:07space but that might also be uh be being investigated uh too no further investigation uh for moving under
39:15braking uh george russell not what we said well those bits we saw absolutely not um char we know
39:21he went through scampered through some runoff errors because he didn't have full control of the car
39:25did he with the damage suspension but he ended up losing those two places anyway if he got a five
39:30second penalty it would make no difference if he got gets a 10 second penalty he'll fall behind
39:35lewis hamilton uh and the leclerc russell at turn 17 incident causing a collision will be
39:42investigated after the race good job the start time was three hours earlier because the stewards
39:47could be here for a long time uh tonight with the amount of things that they have got to look
39:51at
39:51after this race and the uh the little ride to the podium which is on the other side of the
39:59stadium
40:00from where the uh the pit lane and the garage is up has given us time to uh to go
40:04through a few
40:05of those incidents waiting for kimmy antonelli amy walker the trackside operations engineer at mercedes
40:13is going to go up onto the podium uh to pick up uh the trophy and mercedes today moving ahead
40:20of
40:21williams in the all-time list for podiums by a constructor 316 uh to uh total to date so they'll
40:30be
40:30third on the all-time list behind mclaren and ferrari lando norris still looks pretty miffed with
40:37the outcome of that race today yeah could have been his one that got away i'm just sitting here
40:43thinking we don't see a teenage world champion this year a teenager leading it and there's a long way to
40:49go but you know what he doesn't show any signs of feeling the pressure you know the driving still
40:55comes easy to him yeah the decision making still comes easy and he has been guided you would say
41:01by the best teacher that he could possibly have
41:06yeah and he's got the car control and confidence to go with it hasn't he
41:11where were you when you came out the pits like did you break because i couldn't see you
41:16we were like this i almost question to you oh my god yeah oh
41:35yeah i was like wondering how did it happen oh oh that's bad damage
41:54yeah yeah see watch this i always take him i'm like sweet
41:59are you coming back past you yeah but like but like i nothing i could do like
42:06i think of what max was doing he just ruined his own race
42:09oh my god
42:21oh my god
42:39defending these cars yeah like you look and they're like half a second behind but crashing you
42:48so fast
42:57wow
43:02at the end that was a fascinating debrief it really was
43:08uh thank you everyone thank you so much it's good to be back like this let's keep pushing
43:15kimi that was really impressive very impressive dominant from the beginning to the end
43:21complicated to control the starts but uh you're driving that was really really good and you know i like
43:26to complain but there's nothing to complain today yeah i know i was a bit stressed very very good
43:40and i was right
43:45amazing
43:46to hear what the drivers were saying there particularly about how you just can't defend at
43:50some stages they're there on you with a flash yeah but what goes around comes around doesn't it
43:54In that respect, Oscar Piastri's dad was there talking to Zach Brown as we cut to the crowd.
44:03Yeah, that was wild, wasn't it? Absolutely wild.
44:06You know the stewards are a bit busy tonight.
44:08They're going to be even busier because Charles Leclerc is going to be investigated for driving in an unsafe condition.
44:15He's hit the wall. He's managed to keep going.
44:17He's being investigated for leaving the track multiple times on that final lap.
44:23And they're also going to look at whether the car should have just been pulled over to one side and
44:27whether it was in an unsafe condition or not.
44:29Yeah, but he got it home, didn't he? He had four wheels on it, all pointing roughly in the right
44:33direction.
44:34I'm more along the lines of Nigel Mansell pushing his car over the line in Dallas, to be honest.
44:39That's what I like to see. You can't just go or bump the wall or park it and get out
44:44of the way.
44:46I mean, George Russell's car was every bit as damaged, unsafe condition.
44:51And, of course, he carried on, so that's nonsense.
44:55They're going to look at it, come what may.
44:57That's why I would never be a steward, isn't it?
44:59It wouldn't last long.
45:01Yeah, you're better off than commentary rocks here, trust me.
45:03Third place today goes to Oscar Piastri, who, when he started, was finishing second.
45:11But now it's a second successive podium for him.
45:16Runners-up today goes to Lando Norris.
45:21His first Grand Prix podium as the reigning world champion.
45:27And victory.
45:29The first time for a driver starting on the front row here in Miami.
45:35On the weekends that Italy mourns the loss of the legend of Alex Zanardi.
45:40It's an Italian win here in Miami for the next superstar of Italian motorsport, Kimi Antonelli.
45:51A lot of Valentino Rossi about him as well, isn't there?
45:53It's an Italian win here in Miami for the next year.
46:30It's an Italian win here in Miami for the next year.
46:30Beautiful.
46:37What are you doing?
46:43Good to see you in your car.
46:44And then never end left in certaiction.
46:45Come on, baby.
46:49I was waiting for you there.
46:51Enough is enough no plans.
46:54Oh my God.
46:55Let's go.
46:56Over there.
48:29Almost double the points Mercedes have over McLaren currently, 94 points to 180.
48:38Mercedes hitting the bullseye in 2026.
48:43Solid day for Williams as well, eighth in the championship though, but getting some points.
48:50And for Red Bull, just the 30 points and fourth in the Constructors' Championship so far.
48:57For Lando Norris, he moves a little closer to the top three, 12 points behind Charles Leclerc, currently on 51
49:07points.
49:09Second place for him today for Lando Norris, who has either finished first or second in the last three Miami
49:17Grand Prix.
49:20Solid weekend for McLaren who took one and two in the sprints, of course.
49:27Two and three in the Grand Prix.
49:31You've got a column to right, Martin, with a lot to put in it, but the big headline surely about
49:36the man on top of the podium.
49:37Yeah, and despite all the upgrades for Ferrari and McLaren, Mercedes still managing to win the Grand Prix.
49:45Good recovery there from Oscar Piastri.
49:47And on we go to Melbourne, or to Montreal rather, where there'll be loads more new bits and pieces on
49:53the cars and a completely different track layout.
49:57It's been a few hard luck stories at the Hard Rock Stadium today, but nothing to dampen the smile and
50:05the passion of Kimi Antonelli.
50:07For the third Grand Prix in a row, he's the top man.
50:16He is indeed, and history made, just to reiterate, the first driver ever to take.
50:21First three career wins consecutively from their first three career pole positions.
50:28Well done to the youngster.
50:30Mercedes winning Miami for the first time.
50:33The first driver as well to win the Miami Grand Prix when starting from the front row.
50:37McLaren know, though, that with the big upgrade package to come from Mercedes next time around in three weeks' time
50:45in Montreal,
50:46they had the opportunity to take advantage today.
50:49And that's why we heard that disappointment from Lando Norris over Team Radio at the end.
50:54We'll analyse that in a few moments' time.
50:56But that is your one, two, three.
50:58Kimi Antonelli victorious again.
51:01Lando Norris in second and his teammate Oscar Piastri in third.
51:05Next up, then, as I mentioned, Cannibal.
51:09You don't minding Birdwinder.
51:12The country always offers a bit of excitement.
51:14This track is smooth.
51:16This great history and passion.
51:17We are racing.
51:18Keep it clean, please.
51:19Alex Albon against the wall.
51:22There's a tack-off scope.
51:24It's cheaper, shall we?
51:26No one to blame by myself.
51:28I'm going to suck myself out on that cliff.
51:31There's contact.
51:32Would have gone very, very wrong.
51:33100 wins for the team.
51:36I'm out, guys.
51:37Sorry.
51:39Roger, well done.
51:40One and three.
51:41Oh, my God.
51:42Oh, my God.
