00:00Severe thunderstorm watches. We've been talking about the one in West Texas for a bit. That's in effect until 10
00:04p.m.
00:04Brand new watch issued into Lincoln and Omaha, Des Moines, Iowa, Ames, up into Rochester, Minnesota.
00:10That runs until 1 a.m. So that's the upward trending severe risk there in the Midwest.
00:15And overall, we got medium amounts of warmth. We actually have tremendous amounts of warmth down in Texas.
00:20But if we kind of focus on the severe risk up to the north into Omaha and nearby, moderate amounts
00:25of warmth and moisture.
00:26The jet stream energy is limited with this, but this time of the year, it takes so little to get
00:31severe weather going.
00:33Medium risk of severe storms into the night in this area here.
00:36Omaha, Des Moines, look out. Damaging wind, large hail, and heavy rainfall with that setup.
00:42And these storms are getting going right now. Here they are.
00:45And through the evening and into the night, they're going to be expanding into more of Iowa, southern Wisconsin, La
00:50Crosse, northern parts of Illinois as well.
00:53Areas near Rockford, for example. And then showers and storms.
00:56They're lingering into Chicago in the morning. Could be some delays tomorrow morning.
00:59And then we'll see a break. And then more storms tomorrow night.
01:03Better chance for severe weather to the west, though, Saturday and Sunday.
01:06Some of these storms Sunday will be especially nasty.
01:09And then Monday, here we're looking at the biggest risk for severe storms for the whole event on Monday into
01:15Monday night.
01:16Kansas, Nebraska into Iowa, and that will even move east of I-35.
01:19So the Saturday risk area, there's some threat into Illinois and Indiana, even southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky.
01:25But the bigger threat, Nebraska, western Iowa, northwest Missouri, and northern Kansas.
01:30That's where we're very concerned about damaging wind and large hail.
01:33There will be isolated tornado threats tomorrow as well and flash flooding.
01:36Sunday, we go one step farther with an increasingly large moderate risk area.
01:41It wouldn't be shocking if a small high risk got issued by our team here at Accu.
01:45It would be three out of four on our scale for maybe an area near Sioux Falls or O'Neill,
01:51Nebraska up in northeastern Nebraska.
01:52But at this point, Sioux Falls, Sioux City, Omaha, Lincoln, moderate risk, localized damaging wind, but large tornado potential and
01:59hail.
02:00And then Monday, this is kind of the pinnacle of the whole event, into areas around the central plains and
02:05right into the breadbasket of the nation.
02:07Intense tornadoes possible, damaging wind, hail.
02:10And we're very concerned about places like Des Moines with a high risk for wind damage and hail and a
02:14medium risk for tornadoes.
02:16And this all escalates into Monday evening.
