00:00We know that the Browns, do you remember what happened yesterday, by the way,
00:04when we were talking about Shador and that social media post,
00:07and you were like, where's the Mason Graham at?
00:09And then like five minutes after you got done saying it,
00:12they had a Mason Graham appreciation post on social media.
00:14So he's going to be the starting quarterback?
00:16No.
00:16Oh.
00:17So they listen to us.
00:20I didn't listen to you more than listen to me about some of this stuff.
00:22But they definitely listen.
00:24And I thought it was, I really thought it was hilarious.
00:27I look and I go, oh my God, they really did it.
00:30And guys, if you really don't want to see Deshaun Watson,
00:33you better hope that they go, yeah, Todd, we don't care what you say.
00:35We're listening to the fans on this.
00:36We don't want them to start.
00:38Because Nick was beside himself yesterday.
00:41And I think part of the reason that I,
00:44I don't want to put words and thoughts in Nick's head and Nick's mouth,
00:47but I think part of the reason that some of these guys and him and you even,
00:52I think part of the reason you guys have wanted to go after all these other QBs
00:56is it's just, it's another one between Deshaun Watson and starting on Sunday.
01:03I don't think you like Kyler Murray that much or Tua Tungavailoa that much
01:07or any one of these other guys.
01:08It's just another name that's ahead of Deshaun Watson
01:12that you don't have to start him on Sunday.
01:14And it's a better player, so you don't have to, like, he's good enough.
01:18He's played, like, Tua, you've played at a high level before.
01:21You can play point guard.
01:22Kyler's obviously played at a high level before.
01:24I know I've had my criticisms, but obviously there's been times
01:27where he's been really, really good.
01:28And you make these arguments because he's not Deshaun Watson.
01:32Shador, I mean, when you have Albert Breer going on yesterday afternoon
01:36and saying he has a 30% chance to win that starting job week one,
01:40you're going, oh, that's low.
01:42But I think the team, I should say, I think the front office,
01:47I think that people who are not maybe in football,
01:50I think the people in football, they're going to keep an open mind.
01:53But I think everybody else, I'm not in football with them.
01:56I want Shador Sanders to start.
01:58I think you want Shador Sanders to start.
02:00I think the fans, if they're staying how they are,
02:02I think they want him to start.
02:03Can I ask an uncomfortable question to everybody?
02:08Would starting Deshaun Watson, would that divide that building?
02:17I'm not sure what you mean by that.
02:18I'm not trying to play it off.
02:20Yeah, yeah.
02:21So, no, that deserves some more context.
02:23People in the business side not happy?
02:25Everybody.
02:26So, obviously them.
02:27They have heard since the moment,
02:29and we didn't go over a lot of this at the time,
02:32but since, certainly heard.
02:34I mean, when they went and got Deshaun Watson,
02:37there were plenty of people in the building
02:39that were not thrilled with that at all.
02:42They understood why they went that way.
02:45They just weren't comfortable with it.
02:48Okay?
02:48So, too, were some business partners of the Browns,
02:51and so, too, were many season ticket holders.
02:54Yeah.
02:54Okay?
02:54They had to answer for a lot of that.
02:56But the Browns said, listen, he's that good.
02:58You're going to want a winner.
03:00This guy is going to win.
03:02He didn't.
03:03He was horrendous.
03:04And I got to say, I don't think Deshaun Watson,
03:07since day one, has really done himself many favors
03:12with this Browns community.
03:14And I know he's done some philanthropic work, okay,
03:18but I'm talking about as a representative
03:22of both the town and the team.
03:25Shador's been way more visible.
03:26Shador has been unbelievable off the charts.
03:30You know, we joke about him throwing to the high school kids
03:33and everything, or the college kids, the D3 kids,
03:35but that's not all he's done.
03:37He's not afraid.
03:38He's been everywhere.
03:38That dude has...
03:40The workout in the community.
03:41He's been an extent.
03:42He's been the perfect representative for Cleveland Browns football,
03:46to the greater community, for the rich kids and the poor kids.
03:49He's been everywhere.
03:50And what a cool dude to look up to if you're in Northeast Ohio
03:54and you want to play football one day, okay?
03:58Deshaun just doesn't...
03:59He doesn't communicate all that well, let's be honest.
04:01He doesn't do a great job.
04:02Well, yeah, he had the chance to.
04:03I mean, you had to be quiet about all that stuff,
04:05considering everything that he had to...
04:06Had to tiptoe around his specific situation
04:09and how much football he was going to miss.
04:11I get all that, too.
04:12But then, let's be honest, then he gets injured.
04:16And maybe the team was cool with it, too.
04:18Maybe they'd say, hey, leave.
04:19Like, get out of here.
04:20And then he wasn't even, like, doing much in the way of rehab up here.
04:24He was down in Florida.
04:25I remember we talked about Dak Prescott was on crutches
04:29going to Browns games.
04:30You didn't see Deshaun Watson that first time after the injury.
04:33He was just gone, putting stuff up on Instagram.
04:36That's just not how to extend the olive branch
04:41to the fans of Cleveland.
04:42And so what I mean by dividing the locker room...
04:45Look, we all know, okay, if he comes in and plays well,
04:47all those problems fix themselves.
04:49What are the odds Deshaun Watson looks anything like he did six years ago?
04:52Very low.
04:53Very low.
04:54So is he going to be able to do it just by playing well in the football field?
04:57And Albert's answer is long.
04:58Albert brought up the money.
05:00I don't think Jimmy Haslam cares about the money.
05:03He doesn't.
05:04He brought up, well, maybe you try to squeeze one more out of it
05:08just to see whether or not he's worth it.
05:11But I do not see that being the reason.
05:13I see a different reason.
05:15I want you guys to hear Nick,
05:16because I think a lot of you guys are going to agree with Nick
05:18if they decide that they want to start Deshaun Watson week one.
05:22If you do this, it is a massive slap in the face to your fans.
05:26If you're cool with that, being what this is going to be, okay.
05:30But it's something...
05:31I mean, they seem like they might be cool with it if they go down this road.
05:33I think that's why I got so mad earlier.
05:34Which is, again, a valid reason for you to get mad.
05:36We've had three football guests today that all are saying
05:39Deshaun Watson should have an opportunity this year.
05:42It's kind of wild.
05:42All today, by the way.
05:44I think you've got to find out what you have,
05:45and Deshaun Watson screams to me,
05:47you just don't like Shador Sanders.
05:48And I don't mean like as a prospect.
05:50I mean, there's just something about him, his camp,
05:54the people that support him that just pissed you off.
05:56I've not heard one person that I've associated as a pro-Shador person
06:01come out and talk positively about the idea of playing Deshaun Watson this year.
06:05I see what Nick says, and I agree with Nick,
06:07because we live in fan land.
06:08And I've had way easier conversations with Browns fans,
06:13people who are new Browns fans or old Browns fans,
06:16whatever, season ticket holders that go to one game a year
06:18or haven't been to a game in five years.
06:20I've had way better conversations about Shador Sanders tenfold
06:24than I've had about anything concerning Deshaun Watson
06:26over the last five years.
06:28And if you want to make sure that Shador gets that chance,
06:32then you need to be vociferous and you need to be loud
06:35and you need to be huffing and puffing
06:38and doing everything windbaggy like Nick and I have done.
06:44Because if it's left up to Todd Munkin,
06:46Todd Munkin's going to make the best football decision.
06:48Now, I hope that Shador, and I think he's doing it,
06:52hearing the reports, him being in the building all the time,
06:54working all the time,
06:55he's doing everything he can to get that job legitimately.
06:59It's open.
07:00But this is the thing I warned about.
07:01I didn't want to keep Kevin Stefanski
07:03just because he would guarantee such a thing.
07:06But now you've got a 60-year-old guy as your head coach.
07:10He gets one opportunity to be the head coach.
07:14He's going to make that decision for football reasons
07:16and football reasons only.
07:17And everything that we like about Todd Munkin,
07:20he's so refreshing.
07:21He tells the truth.
07:22It's not the same canned answer on every single question.
07:24All right, but you can tell that guy,
07:26I don't give a damn what I think or what Nick thinks
07:29or you or anybody else out there.
07:31He cares about the 52 others in the locker room
07:33and what decision he's going to make
07:35and who's going to give them the best chance
07:36to start on Sunday.
07:37And if he makes that decision
07:39and Deshaun Watson is just whatever,
07:42boy, you're off on a real bad foot with this fan base.
07:44You might be on a better foot with the team,
07:46and that might be what matters.
07:48But if you're only winning six games,
07:50what does it really matter to a lot of folks?
07:52So, yes, part of this does become almost a political campaign.
07:57If we're going to be stuck here and, yeah,
07:59we're going to bring Kalen DeBoer on in 10 minutes.
08:02And I'm going to ask him, first one out of the box,
08:04how is Ty Simpson going to stop this search
08:07that we've been on for our franchise quarterback
08:09for over 30 years?
08:11And I think there's bad timing.
08:13I hate to say it for Kalen DeBoer
08:14because Dan Orlovsky, I think he really hurt Ty Simpson
08:18yesterday and the day before
08:19with fan bases that are needed for quarterbacks.
08:21When he went out there and said
08:22that he was better than Fernando Mendoza
08:25and had nothing to back it up
08:27and really made a fool out of himself on national television,
08:30I think that that really sold away fan bases
08:34from Ty Simpson here.
08:35So now I'm going to bring on Kalen DeBoer in 10 minutes,
08:38and hopefully the head coach at Alabama
08:39is going to give us a lot of good reasons
08:41why we should consider this young man.
08:43But if you don't make that move
08:44and we stick with what we have,
08:46which you know where I stand,
08:48and I've been a proponent of that,
08:52that man, I don't know what a 60-year-old first time
08:55and maybe only time head coach in the NFL is going to do
08:59because if Deshaun's just a little bit better
09:01and you're playing against air,
09:03you're going through drills,
09:04well, we've seen the videos.
09:05I've seen it myself.
09:06Well, they've made the videos with these own two eyes.
09:09He looks good physically,
09:10and if he goes out there and he plays...
09:12I was told his shoulder's back,
09:14so take that for what it's worth.
09:16Well, it's been two years.
09:16I'd hope his shoulder would be back.
09:18Because we saw how bad he was a shell of himself arm-wise,
09:22and then obviously we still have no idea mentally where he is
09:25because he lost all confidence.
09:26When he was the villain all of a sudden,
09:28when his home fans were booing him,
09:30like Deshaun Watson's throwing grounders,
09:32that was the guy that was a top-five quarterback.
09:34Yeah.
09:34For like three years, he was definitely top ten,
09:38and all of a sudden he couldn't even complete the average pass.
09:41He was a train wreck.
09:42This year, I think, is a year to find out
09:45what you have in Shador Sanders and best-case scenario for fans.
09:48I think this is a year that you kind of keep your head down,
09:51see what work you can get in,
09:53see how guys can get better.
09:55Can Carson Swessinger be even better than what he was last year?
09:58Can Quinshawn Judkins return to form after the leg injury
10:01and be a great back with this football team?
10:03How good is this offensive line going to gel?
10:06This is a year to keep your head down
10:07and get ready for 2027,
10:09and either Shador works out or he doesn't,
10:12and we go back to the draft.
10:13But you are going to make those fans very upset.
10:15And Todd Munkin, if he's the one with that decision,
10:18he don't care.
10:18So we are caught in this weird limbo.
10:21I don't think the fans want to see Deshaun Watson at all.
10:24People that don't even want to see Watson play that well
10:26because he plays that well, what comes next?
10:29Like, oh, so is he our future now?
10:31We're not even going to go back to the draft,
10:33this amazing draft we've been hearing about.
10:35Now we're going to latch on to someone
10:37who's had all these injuries and has played this poorly
10:39and has that baggage?
10:41216-474-0092.
10:43It's a much harder question to answer than we ever thought.
10:46Kalen DeBoer coming up in just over five minutes.
10:49Ty Simpson, why does he make sense for this football team
10:54that's been searching for a franchise quarterback since 1993?
10:5793.
10:5793.
10:5793.
10:5793.
10:5893.
10:5893.
10:5893.
10:5893.
