00:14not going to do that this time because i would imagine there's still on some level a little bit
00:18of a lump in the throat so so steve how can you kind of how can you kind of bring

00:24into what the whole team is feeling right now oh man uh well everyone everyone just loves
00:31mosa so much you know he's just such a great young guy and and great teammate uh incredible worker
00:38just puts in in the time and and uh you know he's just a guy you root for and comes
00:46back after missing
00:4710 games and and um looks fantastic changes the game uh really won us a game with his on-ball
00:54defense and then for that to happen um just uh just devastating um you know he's um
01:04it's one of those injuries that that you just you know you just hope and pray nobody ever gets and
01:10and um you know the good news is he will recover and he will get get back but the bad
01:16news is it's
01:17going to be a long time and how are his spirits i'm sure he's really really down and i can't
01:22help
01:22but get the image of him immediately just literally in shock with the level of pain but after the flight
01:28and the mri how's he doing well i talked to him today after the mri and he's uh he's in
01:35pretty good
01:35spirits you know he's he's kind of an old soul moses he's got a great perspective on if he has
01:41he's he's got a great perspective literally since the day he walked into our facility at at 19 years
01:47old it's just uh he's he's an a really interesting dynamic guy who's uh who loves life and um you
01:57know
01:57he's he's just he's got a he's got a great way about him and he's as as bummed as he
02:03is he's uh
02:04you know he's very practical and you know he talked about the surgery and how this is going
02:10to play out and obviously he's disappointed but he's handling it really really well steve i you
02:17know you you hate to just kind of roll through the human side of this and end up back at
02:22basketball
02:22but i i know how i think warriors and fans have been thinking the last few weeks which is
02:28if if you can just kind of reassemble uh something that looks like your normal group by the time you
02:36get to the play in tournament then this thing could look different and moses was absolutely a part of
02:42that and now you know that you don't have him too so how does that change your outlook for what's
02:48coming and still ahead for you guys well it's another another tough blow i mean this season has
02:55been filled with him obviously and um all you can do is keep keep moving forward keep plugging away
03:02and and that's um that's our plan so we'll uh we'll just you know reconvene tomorrow get ready for
03:11brooklyn and um you know not a whole lot else you can do have you gotten any additional information
03:18about you know the damage done beyond just the the patella tendon is it too early to tell
03:23if there are other ligaments that were damaged in this well the uh mri was clean um you know in
03:32terms of all that other stuff so it's it's it's the tendon uh you know no damage to cartilage and
03:39bone and and so that's the good news and um you know that that allows it for to be a
03:46pretty
03:47basic surgery and um beyond that i probably shouldn't say anything because i tend to get
03:54myself in trouble right i apologize steve because i fancy myself a radio doctor so i really try to
04:00doctor it up a little bit and that's good news too by the way though steve i think that that's
04:04something that that if it is just kind of a straightforward patella tendon surgery we won't
04:09hold you to that but if it is that's that's that's as encouraging as it can be right now i
04:15guess
04:15yeah no it is it is so um again moses is in you know pretty good spirits and all things
04:22considered
04:23and uh i think the whole team just crushed for him uh the whole dallas team was just devastated last
04:29night i mean you know these players really care about each other on the floor despite the the
04:35competition and everything else they all know what this is about and it's um you know it's so
04:41so tough to see anybody go down with a serious injury uh steve kerr with us as he is every
04:46week on
04:47willard and dibs 95 7 the game uh coach you you've you've allowed yourself to and the math helps uh

04:54public with the idea that yes you guys are are landlocked in the play-in tournament how important
04:59is the eight versus the nine versus the 10 to you well we've been uh we've been in the plan
05:09i think
05:09three times now um once at seventh uh 20 or twice at seventh and uh once at tenth and um
05:18you know you
05:19just just want to have two cracks at it if possible so seven or eight is you know is where
05:26you want to
05:26be if you have to be in it and nine and ten makes it really difficult ten means you got
05:31to win two
05:31road games so it's pretty straightforward what what we want to do um but at the same time we um
05:39you know
05:40we we've got to make sure everyone's healthy and and uh we've you know i'm i'm sure you're going to
05:46get
05:46to that next uh with with the other guys who are out with al and steph and so it's uh
05:53you know we're
05:54going to be very cautious and make sure we we give those guys every opportunity to heal and then
06:00um wherever we land we land now steve dr dibley here i'm glad that you uh have uh officially
06:06reopened the case file but uh in all seriousness like steph is the the question that's on everyone's
06:12mind they thought we thought he'd scrimmage on sunday he didn't and so what can you tell us about
06:18what he still needs to do before he can get out there well the scrimmage was pushed back and and
06:25i think the plan is for him to uh to scrimmage this week and um you know rick is really
06:31monitoring
06:32all of this uh he's in charge and and he just felt that day that we should push it back
06:38a couple of
06:38days i think the one thing you know i've been adamant you guys were talking about it um as i
06:43came
06:43on i've been adamant that if he's healthy uh he's going to play um because that's what we do that's
06:49that's what we're here for um and and i think today's a good day to you know just reassure our
06:57our listeners that uh if we don't feel good about it then he's not going to play i mean we're
07:03we're not
07:03pushing him into anything if if things aren't uh aren't aren't really clear and that's rick has been
07:11really adamant about that and very uh very open with that you know to me and to mike here over
07:18the
07:18last week and he feels good about it but you know we're we're down to 10 games left and if
07:24you know
07:25if if there's anything that's a concern whatsoever then yeah then then that you know that takes
07:32precedence that takes priority steve i bet fans are curious how those conversations go like who's got
07:39the absolute final say um is it rick is it steph it's rick but they they you know he collaborates
07:49with steph and but ultimately it's it's rick's decision but also if they both say he's cleared to
07:56play you get to decide if he plays or not right yeah i can tell you with uh pretty good
08:04faith that uh
08:06if he's cleared to play i will i will play him i mean to get that out there that may
08:10get tweeted
08:11yes so you know steve kerr's rotations am i right you know how this goes coach that's right

08:42you had said later this week is there any sort of schedule thing as far as what's next on on

08:48that that you guys are are already thinking about yeah he'll he'll come in tomorrow uh and see rick and
08:56they will determine uh what's next and a scrimmage you know hopefully this week and then if he clears
09:02that then we can all look forward to asking you again in the near future about when he's gonna play
09:06that's right that's exactly right steve what like let's talk about someone who is playing you know how
09:13about uh uh the christoph's porzingis story if you will like how's that going and and how will his
09:21his starting and his back-to-backs and all of that how how how will that go over the next
09:26couple of
09:27weeks well we'll see but it's uh it's trending in the right direction clearly you know christoph's
09:34has uh has been playing and playing really well and uh feeling good he did get banged up um
09:41a couple games ago and and take uh take one game off but um you know all in all his
09:47health is good
09:47uh he's playing at a really good level and as you see it i mean he's just scores the ball
09:52so easily
09:54and and uh we can go to him in iso situations and he he draws draws a lot of help
09:59so um he's really
10:01really good player last night kind of a weird one where you you turn it over 24 times but dallas
10:07almost matched you in that category thing got kind of sideways but how much was chris taps and
10:13obviously moses moody they were just such calming forces on offense yeah they were great um both guys
10:20and and um i was disappointed in the turnovers you know it's one thing against uh atlanta and
10:27and uh detroit teams with really really fierce uh perimeter defense um one thing to turn it over
10:35against those teams i thought last night was much more a case of carelessness especially in that first
10:40half and it it bothered me and it's uh i'm glad we came out and played a really good third
10:46quarter and
10:47and uh early fourth to control the game but um both both moses and and chris stops were uh were
10:54were fantastic steve you've said a number of times that you've sort of like gotten to the point of
11:00throwing your hands up about just talking to the team about turnovers so uh in a situation like this
11:07what's what's the film room like the next day what what what do you do to attack turnovers after a
11:13bad game
11:13like that well it's uh and we've tried lots of different things you know you ignore it uh that
11:22i think that's worked best actually ignoring it that's interesting um yeah yeah i did that in the
11:31playoffs a few years ago in the 22 playoffs after the memphis series you know we we just turned it
11:37over
11:37left and right we escaped the series in six but we were just throwing the ball all over the yard
11:42and the next series against dallas i didn't say one word and uh and we took care of the ball
11:48so go
11:49figure i wonder actually if uh if there's a relation between that and what draymond said on his podcast
11:56about the play-in tournament did you see his comments about how you guys are almost seemingly
12:02magnetically attracted to the play-in tournament and he he sort of indicated that maybe it's it's because
12:08you guys talk about it too much or focus on getting out of it and because of all of that
12:14somehow you're magnetically attracted to still being in it i think you guys should ask dream on about
12:21that not me yeah yeah thank you thank you you're welcome we'll go ahead and reach out steve yeah steve
12:28here on 95 7 the game lj cryer steve it seems like each time i watch him this guy looks
12:35more and more
12:35like a real live nba player who can stick and stay what are you seeing from cryer as far as
12:41his ability
12:42and his staying power well i can tell you this every time he shoots i think it's going in um
12:49he's just
12:50got a beautiful shooting stroke he's confident he's tough um you know he's got uh at that at that
12:57height i think he's got what you have to have in the modern nba which is a really really strong
13:03base and so you think about the the shorter guards over the last few years who have really made an
13:10impact um you know guys like fred van vliet um you know tj mcconnell um you know guys who are
13:18like
13:18you know 5 11 whatever they are um they're they're just fire hydrants and and uh lj's got
13:24got that strong base that allows them to to stay in front of people and and not get uh knocked
13:30back
13:31defensively so i'm a huge fan he's really played well both he and will uh richard knocked down huge
13:37shots for us last night and it's always fun to see the young guys uh so really really coming into
13:43their own steve you you had some interesting comments over the weekend in atlanta about brandon
13:49podjemski about his development what he's really good at what he still needs to work on i found it
13:55really interesting um i you may or may not be fully aware because again we've talked about how you're
14:01not on social media um but but he is for many reasons kind of he's a lightning rod he he
14:09brings
14:09about a a wide range of reactions from fans i want to start with this does that do you get
14:16that do you
14:17do you sort of understand where that's coming from and does that make sense to you
14:22yeah i understand it i mean i don't i don't see it but do people tell me that and so
14:27i'm i'm aware of
14:28it and and it makes sense he's uh he's a really interesting unique player and um he's uh i think
14:36a
14:36lot of the uh the reactions from fans uh to be blunt he he you know he laid the expectations
14:44out there
14:45for himself by you know in the beginning of the year you know saying he's going to be better than
14:49steph so i think one of the things you learn as a young player is is uh you know you
14:55the how to
14:56handle the media and i think i think that one was uh a sign of his confidence which i like
15:03but um there
15:04are other ways of showing your confidence and saying you're going to be better than steph curry so
15:09i think he you know he's a lightning rod but he's put some of that on himself and uh when
15:15you're
15:15brash and confident that that's kind of the uh the way it works you know ask ask dream on it's
15:20the
15:21same you know same concept well i this might be completely out of left field but i think that fans
15:27through the years have often heard um that there was and maybe it was playful at times but that there
15:33was there was quite a confidence in for a for example jordan pool and and you know the other
15:39players the older players kind of had uh an experience with that and they would jaw back and
15:44forth at times how would you compare the way jordan pool did it as a young player versus the way
15:50brandon
15:50does that well they're very different players first of all but but i i you know i i think um
15:58they
15:58were they were different uh human beings as well different approaches um i i think um the league
16:07is funny you know you really have to establish yourself in the league you have to show that you
16:14belong you have to believe that you belong and then there's kind of this this period where you you
16:22have to gain the trust of your teammates gain the respect of your teammates and you you have to do
16:28it
16:28in a lot of subtle ways the locker room is a really interesting little subculture you know and and
16:33um and every team is different you got championship teams that are maybe welcoming in a rookie or two
16:39and making them buy donuts and you know and before shoot around and then there's teams that have
16:45500 records and people are fighting for playing time and um completely different dynamic in in that
16:52regard for young players so i think circumstances are everything uh for young players and i think
17:00brandon has gotten a great opportunity here just because of uh the roster and uh you know the age of
17:07our team uh what we need so he's played i think he's played more minutes than anybody on our team
17:13this
17:13year if i'm not mistaken and uh and he's shown a lot of promise um but he's also shown uh
17:20you know his
17:21weaknesses and as a result he's you know playing for the warriors we're one of the you know most
17:27popular teams in the nba there's going to be a lot of a lot of chatter from the fans and
17:33from media and
17:33that's um that's all part of it has that been his biggest challenge i think you referred to him as
17:38a
17:38secondary connector and now without staff and you know moses being gone and no jimmy he kind of has to
17:44be more of a primary connector is that where he's at times having a struggle
17:49i think that's fair to say i mean steph's been out 22 games now so uh brandon and and obviously
17:56jimmy you know i guess 15 more than that or so um whatever it is so uh he's had to
18:02take on
18:03more responsibility offensively he's had some big nights like he did last night or the game at
18:08madison square garden um and then some nights where you know you end up with osar thompson you know
18:15underneath you hounding you full court and it it feels a lot different and and that's what being
18:22a lead guard feels like in this league you know every night is is different and um so it's a
18:29great
18:29learning experience for brandon but you know i i think um for us as a team we are just looking
18:36to
18:36continue his development and um and that means coaching him every day and playing him and you know
18:43i'm talking to him and same thing we do with with all our young players i think the the biggest
18:48difference with him is he's he's probably gotten the most uh playing time of any of our recent young
18:54players um because he does a lot of good things but also because positionally we really we really
19:00needed another ball handler now steve i'm going to uh i'm going to do something now that i don't know
19:04if we've done all year and that is i am going to ask you to assess a fully healthy basketball
19:12team
19:13the arizona wildcats what'd you think
19:18yeah that's it's pretty exciting you know i'm i'm very close with tommy lloyd and we've become
19:24good friends and uh i've been cheering for my team you know since since i graduated in 1988 so
19:31we got a great team this year deep really uh kind of an old school team uh you know strong
19:37on the
19:38interior control the glass control the foul line um so it's really fun i'll be i'll be down there
19:44thursday night um for the game and uh then we take off saturday so if we win thursday uh i
19:52won't be
19:52able to to go see that one saturday but yeah i'm really excited about it should be fun and i
19:58know they
19:58have at least two if not three nba players i want to ask you to speculate but duke's got two
20:03or three as
20:04well when push comes to shove and these guys are in the draft will you have the ability to go
20:09to
20:09dunleavy and say take an arizona guy they're better than the duke guys yeah i don't i don't go that

20:17uh mike mike mike's pretty damn good at his job so he'll he'll find the right guy no matter where
20:22he's
20:23from steve i i can't remember what your guys's travels were uh were you watching the game against
20:28utah state live uh yes i was in my hotel room uh i think we were in dallas yeah it
20:38was the night
20:38before the dallas game yeah i watched it yeah okay so so utah state cuts it to four there in
20:44the second
20:45half did you throw a clipboard i did not throw a clipboard i may have uh dropped an expletive or
20:52two
20:52but nobody was in my room so it was fine okay okay loud enough so that the room next door
20:58could hear
20:58you oh 100 yeah that's love it love it probably as concerned about your bracket uh what's the status
21:07of the steve kerr bracket currently that's the yeah that's a great question i i uh i have not even
21:14looked
21:14at it i mean i i'll tell you what with our our road trip that we've just been on um
21:20four four different
21:22times we landed at 2 30 in the morning local time including last night last night was actually we
21:27landed at 3 10 um we we have just been on the worst time frame the worst road trip uh
21:36everyone is so
21:37excited to be home but you know in preparing for games and being exhausted from the flights i i literally
21:44have not even looked at my bracket and i couldn't tell you where i stand in the uh in the
21:49team team
21:50standings well uh your champion is still alive i'm pretty sure that's i can tell you that without even
21:56looking you know it yeah you know but you know what i've i've picked them every every year and uh
22:02it
22:02hasn't gone so well in a long time it's 97 it worked in 97 97 that's right steve i i
22:11will let you in
22:12on on on a little thing i i have arizona going all the way this year as well and i
22:18am uh i am
22:19currently among the pace setters here at the 95 7 the game uh bracket pool yeah so so let's do

23:18gotta we've got such a good group um i love our guys so much and it's uh it's just been
23:24been a rough
23:25go for sure uh steve i'll i'll share with you because i flew to arizona to do a little spring
23:30training trip last weekend my my very very close friend is the voice of the phoenix suns he picked
23:35me up at like eight in the morning on at the airport on friday he had been in san antonio
23:40they
23:40were facing the spurs the night before we hadn't even left the airport and he's already screaming at
23:46me about the nba schedule so i just i just i wanted to let you know like he's battling pneumonia

23:52now and and i think he blames the league so you're not alone steve yeah i think there are a
23:59lot of
23:59people out there who uh who feel like we could we could do some uh some work on the schedule
24:05and uh
24:06you know there there's a lot to talk about for sure but uh you know we just got to keep
24:11plugging
24:12away and and see what we can do here in the last 10. all right go get some rest and
