00:00We have some breaking news here.
00:02Go back to the 250 heats.
00:03You saw Evan Ferry going for it.
00:05An aggressive pass to try to get that last transfer spot.
00:08He has actually been penalized.
00:10Championship points and license points for aggressive riding.
00:14The license points is a new penalty structure this year
00:17where you accrue multiple violations throughout the year.
00:19The penalties get stronger.
00:20Here's the pass attempt on Pierce Brown.
00:22Yeah, Pierce has made the pass for him for that last transfer position.
00:25And Evan comes in and he makes the pass.
00:28And obviously both of them go down.
00:30But that's going to be a tough penalty for Evan right there.
00:34Wow.
00:35Insole to Andrew.
00:36Takes the bike up.
00:37Takes off.
00:37Yes.
00:39So now he and Brown are one of many top riders in the last champs qualifier.
00:44Double stacked talent with an East West showdown.
00:46And as always, we have the Rocky Mountain ATVMC privateer payout.
00:50Parker Ross selected.
00:51He gets $1,000 already.
00:53And if he advances to the main, he'll get another $1,000 from Rocky Mountain ATVMC.
00:57Parker, who hopes to be top 10 in the West races and fight for top fives,
01:02definitely expects to at least be in that main event.
01:05The Toyota Redlands Bar X Yamaha.
01:07So here it is, 250 LCQ.
01:09More talent than usual in this one.
01:11Yeah, that's not to say.
01:12In the West, he expects that.
01:14But this is where you got both of them.
01:15So this is going to be a tough main event.
01:17And guys that he hasn't raced against all year long, he's going to find out now.
01:21Okay, got Nick Romano and his comeback to racing in this one.
01:24Dudney, the rookie.
01:25And Pierce Brown, a race winner this year on the gate.
01:29Amongst others.
01:31So here it is.
01:32Pressure packed.
01:33250 last chance qualifier.
01:43Dudney, I think he's going to lead them in and out.
01:46And Brown was able to maneuver in the second.
01:49Yeah, great start by Pierce.
01:51He went a little wide.
01:52He wanted to make sure he didn't get caught up in any of that mess.
01:55Therefore, his teammate gets out front.
01:56But for him, this is exactly where he needs to be at.
01:59His main thing is to qualify at the least.
02:02Because he's second in point or third in points.
02:04Only two points behind.
02:05So this would be huge for him to get in this main event.
02:08Crockett Myers there on that yellow Suzuki is third.
02:11And Romano has climbed to fourth, battling with Marshall Welton.
02:15He's on the MX-6 Kawasaki.
02:18And this is where the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Riders wanted to be.
02:22If they're going to be in the LCQ, at least lead it.
02:25Oh, hold on.
02:26Yeah, you see that.
02:27That's that track being very loose compared to what it was earlier.
02:31Almost caught Pierce out right there.
02:34And Pierce was hoping for big things here.
02:37A lot of work on the motorcycle with the whoops.
02:40Thought they had made a breakthrough coming into this race compared to Indy.
02:43Maybe we'll find out in the main right now.
02:45He's trying to survive this last chance qualifier.
02:49Rod Bell has made the move on Welton.
02:52So Rod Bell up to fourth on the SLR Southern Powersports Honda.
02:5783.
02:58Good spot by Rod Bell to be able to make that pass and just try to get up.
03:01There's a small gap for him.
03:03So that means he won't get held up yet.
03:04Maybe he can get away Welton away from him and see if he can keep that gap.
03:09Because you know eventually they're going to come back for this last chance.
03:13Oh, yeah.
03:13For sure.
03:14And this is what you love.
03:14You get a rider from the west and a rider from the east battling.
03:17Rod Bell West, Welton East, and Luke Cloud also an east rider as one position further back.
03:23So you make the main event of this field you're doing something right.
03:26Yeah.
03:26And especially if you own different coach.
03:28You go ahead and take him out.
03:29You'd like hopefully by the time we race again he forgot about that.
03:32So you don't have to deal with him next week.
03:33Stop.
03:34You guys don't forget.
03:35We don't.
03:35You don't forget.
03:36Stop it.
03:37I got grudges since I was three.
03:38Still waiting to take care of him.
03:41Here's Dudney.
03:42Talk to his mechanic earlier.
03:44A lot of work on the bike setup making him comfortable because the tracks they feel are
03:48rougher by the time you get to the 250 mains compared to SMX Next.
03:52Trying to make him comfortable.
03:54And they think they're headed in the right direction.
03:57They say he did admit some of the changes they made.
03:59They've gone right back.
04:00They've gone in other directions as the young racer trying to learn what he wants.
04:04Dudney out front.
04:05Yeah, that's the hard part.
04:06I mean because you got this track.
04:08This track is night day difference than what it was earlier.
04:10So being a young guy that doesn't have that experience.
04:13You got to be able to deal with the track changing on the day to day basis.
04:17Let alone different venues.
04:19So a lot to learn as a youngster.
04:22Yeah, they can fly at the test track.
04:24But that's the same thing every day.
04:25Oh, look at Romano.
04:27He's under fire right now on the outside.
04:29That green Kawasaki.
04:30It looks like a rod bells going for it.
04:33Wow.
04:34Nick got lucky right there.
04:35He landed on those tough blocks right there.
04:37But he actually made a pass tough.
04:40I made a few passes to get past Rob Bell into that last chance.
04:44Well, I mean the final position.
04:45Yeah, I think he was there that dropped out of it.
04:47Must have been a mistake and has now worked his way back into position.
04:50The fill in racer just got the gig JT.
04:53Yeah, and Romano used to be on monster Yamaha star racing.
04:57So there's two riders out front.
04:59They basically replaced him on that team.
05:02So he's got a lot to prove here and getting in the main event would be step one.
05:05It's a great story just getting on that team.
05:06We'll see how he does.
05:07Now, Will, what do you got?
05:09Well, Jason, another incredible story of the day is what happened to Eli Tomac in his heat
05:14race.
05:14And Ian Harrison, team manager at Rebel KTM is here with me now.
05:17Ian, we got told that Eli has not been in the LCQ in seven years.
05:22And now we're going to see him line up after that.
05:24Unbelievable incident.
05:26But just tell me, how was the bike after that?
05:28How was Eli after that?
05:29And just the team around knowing that you've got to ride this LCQ?
05:33Yeah, Eli was a little disappointed, of course.
05:35But he made the right decision when Cooper's leg got stuck in the bike.
05:41It twisted the air box and popped the filter out.
05:43So he heard that the tone of the engine was different.
05:47So that's why he pulled into the pit.
05:48Smart decision.
05:50And what was the tone?
05:51I mean, obviously, you've got to tell him, hey, go out there.
05:53You've got to ride the LCQ.
05:55I mean, we don't expect a guy of his caliber in his situation in the championship to have
05:59to do that.
05:59In situations like this, you just have to put it behind you.
06:02You've got to move on.
06:03And, you know, that's where we are now.
06:05And that's what we're going to take care of right now.
06:07Thanks, Ian.
06:07Wise words.
06:08We appreciate it.
06:10All right.
06:11Oh, Eli trying to keep his head up.
06:12This is Romano.
06:14Thank you, Will, for that.
06:15And Ian's always smiling no matter what.
06:17Yeah.
06:17Good or bad news.
06:18Good or bad news.
06:19But Ian has had some experience being in the LCQ with the top rider back in Ryan Dungey
06:24going to LCQ and coming out and still winning the main event.
06:27So he has that experience of keeping his rider calm.
06:29And I think in Eli's circumstance, it is nice to have that team manager be able to be that way.
06:35JT.
06:37Watching these two guys out front.
06:38And I think this is going to be really important for the main event, guys.
06:41Not just the Hayden Egan's of the 250 class, but also Cooper Webb in that 450 class and Justin
06:46Cooper as well.
06:47They have this racetrack at the farm in Florida.
06:51This is the track that they practice on every single day.
06:53And, yes, subtle nuance differences.
06:55The dirt is obviously a little bit different.
06:57But the layout is one they have done hundreds and hundreds of lapsed upon.
07:01So we'll see in the main events if that turns out to be an advantage for all the boys in
07:04blue.
07:05Thanks, JT.
07:06And also, they're stacked.
07:08So you've got a couple of riders in SMX next.
07:10They have six riders between 250 East and West.
07:14Team manager Wilhelm said the good thing is it's the closest race to our home base in Georgia.
07:19So we were to drive everything out here, which made it a lot easier.
07:23And it's showing right now.
07:25Dudley riding well and putting it into the main.
07:28Yeah.
07:29Guys are doing exactly what they need to do.
07:31One position is not really going to change much for either one of these guys.
07:34Pierce Brown did what he needed to do, but Kate Dudley gets it done.
07:38All right, call off the alarm.
07:40The two factory Yamaha riders are into the main.
07:43And what about Romano and his comeback to racing?
07:46About a year off with injuries.
07:48Picks up the pro circuit ride.
07:50He's into the main.
07:50And Crockett Myers, when you get to these showdowns, you're like,
07:54which privateer is going to sneak it in in a stacked field?
07:57It's going to be Crockett Myers on the Suzuki getting it done.
08:00And Welton will be just short over Ross.
08:03Ross didn't make it.
08:05Had a bad start.
