00:52Both these guys, these guys are one and two at the point.
00:54They come out and execute.
00:56That's why they're up in front.
00:57And Webb is 7th, Roxen is 12th.
01:00Let's see if the split line works for Tomac as Prado is giving Lawrence a run right now.
01:07I don't want to break up past history, but there was some comments made by Hunter Lawrence
01:12and how he raced Jorge Prado the last race.
01:15And so I don't think that's that well with Jorge.
01:17So I don't think he'll try to do anything.
01:19But I would be surprised if he runs that front end in there.
01:22Jorge, that is.
01:23Yes, Hunter felt that Jorge made it very easy on Tomac and very difficult on him to make passes.
01:29Prado the opposite right there.
01:33And Hunter said, I'll give him some body English next time if that's what it takes.
01:36And then Prado responded on Instagram and said,
01:39I wasn't even doing it on purpose.
01:41I can give you body Spanish if you want.
01:45Oh, so far Hunter is getting away from that.
01:48It's going to be a tough position for Eli.
01:51I think the path to be here once Jorge recognizes that it's his teammate,
01:55he'll probably open that door for him.
01:57But Eli's got to be closer.
01:58How does he play it?
01:59Not well enough for Tomac on that inside.
02:03Starting to see that 96 get away.
02:09J.T.
02:10You saw Jorge take a look over there.
02:12Now he's going to realize that that's Eli.
02:14The toughest part was he wouldn't have known that Eli was quite there yet.
02:17So I don't think he'll put in much of a fight here.
02:20And that's the benefit of having a teammate.
02:22And it's a luxury that Hunter Lawrence does not have right now.
02:25With the starting prowess of Prado,
02:27you have to think that's going to be a factor down the stretch.
02:29And it has also allowed Cooper Webb to jump into the fight here, J.T.
02:33from 7th to 4th and right with Tomac.
02:37Yeah, this is going to be tough for Eli,
02:39especially if these other guys get into it.
02:41We saw in the past sometimes when you get in front of Eli,
02:44sometimes it messes up his focus and his rhythm.
02:47So he's got to get it.
02:48He's made a few mistakes.
02:49Now the 96 is almost three seconds over him.
02:52You've got to worry, but it's a long race, Jason.
02:55Cooper Webb right there, as is Justin Cooper, pressing Tomac.
03:00And Roxxon's made some passes closing up on these guys.
03:03So the pace has really slowed down and bunched all these guys up.
03:09Well, everybody put the 96.
03:12But, yeah, it's heating up back here as Roxxon looks to make the move on Cooper.
03:17Like Kenny's got him.
03:19He should be on the outside.
03:20We should put him on the inside here.
03:21And the thing is, I know people, you might see Jorge's blocking,
03:26but he's not holding up Eli.
03:27He's got a few seconds.
03:29Eli at one point was all over, but I think it messed his rhythm up.
03:32But nonetheless, you see Ken Roxxon hits that quad.
03:35Now I love that line.
03:36Now he's closing up on the champ, Cooper Webb.
03:40Yeah, maybe the first lap or two, Tomac was all over Prado.
03:43But Prado's holding his own now.
03:45And everyone has decided inside-outside is the way through the split lane, Will.
03:51That start was so key for Eli Tomac.
03:53Like you said, James, and I spoke to crew chief Carlos Rivera right before
03:57and asked, was there any consideration in going for the outside gate?
04:00And they did actually look at it, but the condition of it, he said,
04:03was so bad that they decided to stay inside there, better condition.
04:06And to your point, they can rely on their starts more than they used to be able to.
04:11He's been doing really well with them, and they're reflecting back on Indy.
04:14The three triple crown races then, there were two solid starts out of that.
04:18They put a lot of work into it before Daytona.
04:20So to be able to take that far inside gate pick and rely on a good jump is important.
04:25Thank you, Will.
04:26But how about Prado here, who went in that section they just went through over the bars
04:30with a huge crash earlier in qualifying.
04:33And here he is, rebounding, running second in the main.
04:36Yeah, Prado's in a tough spot now because Eli's there,
04:40but he's, like, not close enough to where Jorge would really have to lay up
04:44to let him pass, and Eli's not there.
04:46So he's still trying to race.
04:49And Roxen has made the move on Webb.
04:52And Tomek through the whoops makes the move on Prado.
04:57Kent's made some great passes.
04:59Like you said, he got around Webb.
05:00He's probably going to do the same thing to Jorge as well.
05:03Oh, just can't quite seal the deal.
05:08Side-by-side, see the whoop times.
05:10Roxen is the best on track.
05:12Cuts down to the inside on Prado.
05:15Yeah, you saw that one coming.
05:17Can he do that?
05:20Great move.
05:21Let's see if he can stick with Eli.
05:23You know Eli's going to try to go out to Hunter.
05:25So if you're ever going to catch the 96, you better catch a toe at the number three
05:28because he's going to try to make his way up to the front if he can.

05:32Here's the gap between Lawrence and Tomek.

05:39Hey, Roxen, you know, he didn't have the result he necessarily wanted in Indy.
05:43So there wasn't a lot of conversation during the off week about him.
05:46But if you remember that race won, he absolutely dominated as he runs it in there on Eli Tomek.
05:51Had he not gotten into that crash with AP, it would have looked a lot different.
05:55So don't sleep on Ken Roxen right now.
05:57He is on his way to the front.
05:58Absolutely, JT.
05:59In fact, he makes the move.
06:00Second place for Roxen.
06:04And this has been just an incredible turn for this team.
06:08They already said that they're working on a new deal with Ken Roxen to keep him on the team for
06:13the future.
06:13And most importantly, he was asked, the team owner, Dustin Pipes, he's battling Cooper Webb for third in points right
06:21now.
06:22And he said, we could not care less about third.
06:24We want to make up 28 points on Hunter Lawrence.
06:26Still believing they can win this title.
06:28And Roxen's going for it.
06:29No, absolutely.
06:30I talked to Ken yesterday on the way over here.
06:33And, man, he's so happy.
06:35He talked about how he hasn't changed his bike in over a year.
06:37And so he's really comfortable.
06:39Last weekend he rode good.
06:40Or a couple weekends ago in Indy, he just got caught up with the AP incident.
06:43But Ken, he's been riding really good all year long.
06:47Man, he's a surprising pass.
06:49Nice pass.
06:50Prado under fire from Webb.
06:53This is for fourth.
06:56Oh, Webb almost ran over his foot in that corner.
07:01Yeah, I mean, I know what Jorge's doing right now.
07:04Cooper gets around him.
07:05But as a racer, this is when it gets hard for him.
07:07When the guys get upset.
07:09When you know the guy's going back and then he's still passing.
07:11You're slowing your race down.
07:12This is where some of these guys get upset with Jorge and other guys who ride like that.
07:16But Jorge's still doing a good job.
07:18He's still in the top five.
07:20And regroup and try to hold on to this thing.
07:22Yeah, again, that huge crash earlier today for Prado.
07:26Now he's going to have to deal with Justin Cooper.
07:28Hey, Roxen has cut just a little bit into Hunter Lawrence's lead.
07:36Ken Roxen was over a half second faster that last lap.
07:40Not just cutting into it, he's closing it down.
07:43Yeah.
07:43Got it from about four and a half now down to 3.7.
07:47As you check in with Hunter Lawrence to the race leader.
07:51Although we know the Lawrence's are masters of managing a gap.
07:55But Roxen is on his horse right now.
07:58Will, what do you got on the 96?
08:00I spoke to him earlier today, Jason, to find out what the off weekend was like for him.
08:05It's obviously a very hectic schedule for these 450 riders.
08:08And he said he actually took some time off.
08:11Now, that's incredible because the Lawrence brothers never take any time off.
08:15They're notorious for riding through the Christmas break and everything.
08:18I asked him, when was the last time you actually did nothing over a weekend?
08:22And he went back to Motorcourse of Nations, which is in early October.
08:26So he said he took that time.
08:27It was much of a physical reset really as it was a mental one.
08:31Right now, guys, it's working for him because he looks fresh out there.
08:35Sure does.
08:36Yeah, Hunter's looking good.
08:38I mean, although Ken's closing that gap, what's important for Hunter,
08:41when you see a guy that's coming and they start closing down, especially like Kenny did,
08:45you got to have, like, two laps of perfect execution.
08:48Because what's going to happen is, Kenny, if he keeps closing,
08:50he's going to keep that motivation.
08:51If you bridge that gap, then Kenny will be like, okay, maybe he made a mistake
08:56and started possibly riding behind him.
08:57So these next two laps are so important for Hunter,
09:00which he's picked up his pace and now it's stabilized that gap.
09:02I'll tell you a mistake, Cooper Webb went down.
09:05You saw that bottom box.
09:06He is now mired in eighth with Colt Nichols.
09:10Heard he went down maybe with Prado.
09:13Prado now battling with Justin Cooper.
09:15So another rough one for Webb.
09:18See what Justin Cooper can do.
09:23Cooper makes the move.
09:26It's good to see what happened right there with Cooper Webb.
09:29He's going to be upset about that.
09:31Oh, yeah, absolutely.
09:33That was like a last gasp for Webb as far as his title is concerned.
09:37Now in eighth place.
09:39Malcolm Stewart going after Prado.
09:41I wouldn't count out Webb getting back to Prado in this race.
09:45Could be some fireworks.
09:47Yeah.
09:50We know how Cooper is when he's riding mad.
09:52But give Jorge Prado that, like you mentioned, that section he just went down.
09:56Now he's hitting that same quad that he crashed on.
09:59Prado would get back up and doing that.
10:02So it's, you're seeing Cooper, Prado, Stewart, Plessinger, and then Webb.
10:08Then Webb.
10:10And Webb at one point is right there with Tomac.
10:15Oh, Justin messed that section up.
10:18Prado's coming back because of that.
10:19Boom.
10:20Hey, we're halfway through this main.

10:31It's like I-75 right here with all this traffic.

10:35Guys getting past.
10:36You know, truthfully, it's a fun race to be in.
10:39It's a nervous one, but it's kind of fun because every time you open it up,
10:41as long as some guy doesn't try to take you out, getting past.
10:45These are all friends here.
10:46So Malcolm's made to pass now AP and then number one back there.
10:52He wants to get back up on the 29th or 26th.
10:55Yeah.
10:56Might be mad as a hornet, like he said years ago.
11:00So, yeah, Malcolm has completed the pass on Prado going after Justin Cooper.
11:05That would be for fourth.
11:06That'd be a season best for Stewart if he can get there.
11:13Comeback trail all season for your brother there, Malcolm.
11:16after that big crash right off the bat, the very first lap of the season at Anaheim.
11:22Yeah, I had a lot of confidence coming in from the Parrish race,
11:25being able to beat Hunter Lawrence and Jet Lawrence.
11:27So he was cited coming into the season, but that first race definitely hit a big damper,
11:31and he's been trying to get back up.
11:33So it's been getting better and better.
11:35This would be his best one.
11:36Let's see if he can close this off for Justin Cooper, but find out.
11:40Ken Roxton.
11:41Not giving up.
11:42He's got it down, 3.4 seconds, just inching up on Hunter Lawrence.
11:48And we talked about the lap traffic before this main event.
11:51It's a factor, again, a relatively short racetrack.
11:55And now they're dealing with the traffic.
11:57Will.
11:59Yeah, now Hunter Lawrence might have to deal with Ken Roxton.
12:02And the conversation of Ken's second half of the season has been talked about a lot,
12:07saying that he's stronger in the first half.
12:09I asked Dustin Pipe's team manager about that, and he just brushed it off.
12:13And he said, look, that's perhaps how it was in the past.
12:16He said, what you've got to understand is, Ken Roxton, physically and mentally,
12:20is a very different rider from what he used to be.
12:23And he said, the way he goes at his season now, the kind of even heel that he goes about
12:28wins and losses,
12:30he said it's very important.
12:32That mental mindset that he has to just go about his business has changed.
12:36Well, it's working right now, Will, because he keeps closing bit by bit on Hunter Lawrence.
12:42Lap traffic probably a factor there.
12:43We saw one rider go down over the finish line jump.
12:47Yeah, no, I was watching that.
12:48And Ken actually got hung up by the lap riders, and it was nothing they were to do.
12:52If you were looking at them, the lap rider didn't know which way to go.
12:54He was trying to slow down.
12:56And Ken was, because he was trying to slow down, almost messed Ken up.
13:00Then he goes down after the finish line.
13:01So a tough position to be in.
13:02But Ken's hanging strong.
13:03Hunter Lawrence is still right in front of him.
13:05I think if I was Ken, those lap riders, I want to try to use those.
13:08Hunter, maybe that indecision to close that gap,
13:11because I can start to see him on the same straightaway.
13:13This race isn't over.
13:17We hear Garrett Marchbanks, who is back at night,
13:20but he is going to be docked to position for a track cut.
13:23That's already been decided.
13:24Roxen at one point had it under three seconds.
13:27I think that one rhythm lane might have thrown him back.
13:33It's a tough racetrack to make up time.
13:36Even though Ken's have been able to do it, it's really slippery.
13:39So you can see Ken makes a little bit of time, then he loses.
13:43I'm thinking he gets a little excited, makes a mistake,
13:45because of how difficult this racetrack is, and opens up on 96.
13:49Yeah, 96 here.
13:51This could be three wins out of the last four.
13:54The only one he didn't get was Daytona, the Tomac specialty.
13:57This guy is rolling right now.
14:00Oh, that was close.
14:02Uh-oh.
14:04Webb has Prado in his sights.
14:06He has made the move on the 7th.
14:08A Plessinger.
14:10Just ahead of Marchbanks.
14:13Yeah, being good brought by Jorge.
14:15It looked like he was going Valkyrie for a long time.
14:17Aaron and all these guys closed up.
14:19But he fought.
14:21That's a loss to too many more positions,
14:23but that might change if that number one gets close to him.
14:28That's a nice line by Cooper.

14:31Now he's got traction.
14:32Look how much time he was able to close in with Jorge.
14:34Yeah, he's right there with Prado now.

15:42but Jorge still, like I mentioned earlier,
15:44is doing a good job,
15:45and he's actually pulled away from Cooper at this point.

15:48Jorge Prado just showing week after week
15:51a quick study in Supercross.
15:58Expected to be maybe just a year of learning
15:59or even just survival to get to pro motocross,
16:02but Prado with the podium early.
16:04Oh, no.
16:05Aaron Plessinger down,
16:06and he looks like he has hurt himself.
16:08It has been a rough season for the seven.
16:12And another bad one.
16:14Yeah, tough break.
16:14That's in that rhythm section.
16:18Figured he took the boot off or to the boot
16:20for some possible reason.
16:23Come off, but he is limping.
16:26Man.
16:27Yeah.
16:27Two races in a row.
16:29Man.
16:30He didn't finish.
16:31Yeah, it's been a tough season for Aaron.
16:33to go back to even Anaheim when he got in,
16:36went over, crashed over that triple
16:38for the finish line.
16:41Well, the Rocks in Charge appears to be over
16:43as Hunter Lawrence has stretched it back out.
16:46He has been dynamite in the last minutes
16:48of the mains all year.
16:49He's gotten a whole lot better in the early laps.
16:52He's got the great starts.
16:54He is becoming the total package in Supercross.
16:58He absolutely is.
16:59I've been impressed with him for all year.
17:01His whole career, I've been impressed,
17:02but to watch this guy grow this season
17:05is very impressive.
17:06The confidence that he's been able to accumulate
17:08over these past, I would say, five races
17:11is showing why he can be out front.
17:14He knows how close these points are.
17:16Eli's up there.
17:17Hunter gets out front, full shot, and pulls away.
17:20Ken Rockson starts closing in.
17:22Hunter rebounds, pulls away.
17:24That's the guy who has everything firing him.
17:27I mean, truthfully, just like Haydeegan,
17:29he's making it look easy on a difficult racetrack,
17:32and that's hard, but that all goes back
17:34to everything he's done so far this year,
17:36and you're seeing it in the 96.
17:42And maybe slipped on a little bit.
17:44Didn't get to race much Supercross last year.
17:46A series of fifth-place finishes
17:48that said just when he thought they had the motorcycle
17:51in a place where he could start going for podiums
17:53and wins, he got hurt.
17:54So we didn't have any doubt on Hunter
17:55in Supercross last year.
17:57He's been great in Pro Motocross
17:59and the SMX playoffs.
18:01This is 10th place.
18:03Jordan Smith about to go a lap down,
18:05and it goes back to that lap rider combo.
18:09These are really good riders.
18:11Yep, they're putting a lap down.
18:12Now, and the crazy part is
18:14if Hunter would have caught him
18:16a half a second later,
18:17then Jordan would have been on that inside run.
18:19Then it would have slowed Hunter up
18:21for that whole section.
18:22So it just shows you
18:23nothing that Jordan would have done.
18:24It just depends on where these guys catch him at.
18:26Really affects their race.
18:28But Hunter was able to get past him.
18:29No harm, no foul.
18:31Really impressed, man.
18:33For a Smith rookie in the 450 division,
18:35this would actually be a career best.
18:36His first career top 10,
18:38but also going a lap down.
18:40So this lap rider combo,
18:42especially with a lot of top talent out,
18:44is just going to continue.
18:47But the biggest story of all
18:48is Hunter Lawrence.
18:49Again, this would be three wins
18:51in the last four rounds.
18:54Start of the year,
18:55about talk about Mr. Consistency
18:57and four straight second place finishes.
18:59That is in the past.
19:01Now, this guy wins races.
19:03Yeah, he's winning races.
19:05And truthfully, the way he's winning these races
19:07shows a guy who's really locked in.
19:10I mean, he believes that he's better
19:11than everybody else.
19:12Because, I mean, he's straight up beating Eli.
19:14He's saw Ken.
19:15He's got him, JT.
19:17He does it.
19:18And he's not going to get any more points for it.
19:20He's going to get a five-point difference on Eli.
19:22But when they go back
19:23and they're doing their data analysis
19:24and they look that he's going to be 28 seconds ahead,
19:28the mental edge of that way is heavy.
19:30Like, they're still in a championship battle.
19:32It's going to be, what, seven points
19:33leaving here tonight.
19:34But that is a huge deal
19:36to be 27 seconds.
19:38and Eli had to watch him right away.
19:40So that mental battle,
19:41that's a huge checkmark for Hunter tonight.
19:43Yeah, absolutely.
19:44I couldn't agree with you more, JT.
19:46And when Hunter goes back,
19:47yeah, you're exactly.
19:48He's going to watch what happens to Eli.
19:50Now, think with Eli, he is a champion.
19:53And I wouldn't be surprised
19:54if he came to Detroit next weekend and won
19:56because we know how good he is.
19:58But if I'm Hunter Lawrence,
19:59these five points, that's nice.
20:01But this confidence that I've gained

21:13And I think that's what
21:14we see the difference between Hunter.
21:16It's not like he has more confidence
21:17in believing I got more skills,
21:19but to be able to,
21:20like, when things aren't going right,
21:22oh, I can still get this done.
21:23You only get that from doing
21:24what he's doing today
21:25and what he's done in the past
21:26of so far this year.
21:28Just taking a huge bite
21:29out of the competition.
21:31That big gap over Tomac
21:32is going to gain five more points
21:33of the championship.
21:34Roxen is still charging
21:36and through the traffic
21:38and maybe Hunter backing it down
21:39a little bit.
21:39He's got it back under three seconds,
21:41but it's the last lap.
21:43He has also lapped past Colt Nichols.
21:46Nichols in eighth season best,
21:48but a lap down.
21:50And Hunter Lawrence
21:52beginning to take over
21:54for Monster Energy Supercross
21:56in the 450 class.
21:59And this is just straight grit.
22:02Year after year,
22:04day after day
22:05of small improvement,
22:07stacking days,
22:08stacking the work,
22:09building it to this.
22:11Hunter Lawrence
22:12dominates
22:14in Birmingham.
22:18back at chips.
22:21That was big.

22:29for Tomac.
22:30Certainly not the night he wanted.
22:32Considering he went to the LCQ,
22:33podium points is good.

22:37he's here to beat Hunter

22:43I guess points wise good,
22:45but first kind of off race,
22:47I would say I've seen
