00:23because he had worked so hard to rush back from injury that he was getting a little bit tired.

00:34Yeah, we kind of forget how good Joe's been riding, but he's coming back from a broken neck.
00:38You know, so, yeah, a lot of work to get there, but he's only going to get better.

00:47All of the 250 East riders are in the second heat, Shimoda and the rest.
00:53And with the points being so tight, only a two-point gap between four riders

02:03And that led to a lot of expectation here in year two,
02:06and he's got that points lead and the lead in the heat.
02:08Yeah, and the one thing I've been really impressed about Cole Davies
02:11in his young career is when he's out front, he doesn't let anything bother him.
02:14Like, even when Joe is really close to him,
02:16just kind of continues to do his lines.
02:18If you watch him, Seth to pop into screen, there's no worries about Cole,
02:22so it makes him hard to beat because he's not going to make that mistake
02:26most of the time.
02:27He's starting to get away.

02:30Got through the corner clean this time, and Thrasher in third.
02:33Thrasher's had a very slow start to the campaign.
02:36The team manager for the 250 part of Star Racing, Will Holland,
02:40revealed yesterday that he was a little dinged up in the offseason,
02:43so maybe not exactly 100% coming into the races here, Thrasher, on the 25.
02:47So we'll see if he can rebuild.
02:51Running third right now, and then further back.
02:55Shimoda is in seventh.
02:57There he is on the number 30.
03:00Yeah, Joe didn't have the best to qualify.
03:02It's not like his cover tee, but at the same time,
03:05and when you have this, as we mentioned earlier, it's basically a main event.
03:08He was pretty far on the inside, so I'm wondering if that starting position,
03:11because of how qualifying went, kind of threw him off.
03:13But nonetheless, he's got to make his way up and try to get up.
03:16So as you said, he's close to the points.
03:18He needs those positions.
03:19And what is it about the Club of X riders running in formation?
03:22Just like the West Heat, you have Simonson and Cody Schock wheel-to-wheel here,
03:29battling just like their teammates did, and he won.
03:31Well, if they're all working on stars, they figure it out,
03:34then they're going to start up front or in the back.
03:37But together, either way.
03:39So Shimoda's got to figure out a way to pass two of Club of X Yamahas.
03:43It's a 49 at Cullen Park on the Phoenix Honda right behind him.

03:52It just seems like now they'll make up that time in the beginning.

04:08practically an unknown privateer just a couple of years ago,
04:11was riding at Club of X on his own.
04:13Eventually got picked up by the team.
04:14Got hurt last year.
04:15And this year has come out much improved.
04:18He's even battling for a podium last week.
04:20But here goes Shimoda.

05:36He spent the summer, he didn't even have a ride,
05:38wasn't even racing pro motocross,
05:40but still spent the summer
05:41doing all the day-to-day training with the team.
05:45And he told me yesterday,
05:46yeah, there were times I'm like,
05:47what am I doing?
05:48Why am I doing this?
05:49I don't know even if I'm going to get anything out of it.
05:51And then eventually it impressed the team enough
05:53to give him a shot on their own squad
05:55because Club MX does allow other riders
05:57that are not on the team to ride there.
05:58So we catch back up to Shimoda,
06:00who has caught up to Dax Benning.
06:02Yeah, Dax is making a few mistakes.
06:04We'll see what happens with Joe.
06:06He's going to square them up, get a nice run.
06:08Now he's going to have to figure out if he doesn't in top of Dax.
