Trascrizione
00:02Hi, it's Larry here of Xbox Live's Major Nelson
00:04here with Richard Irving from the Xbox Engineering team
00:06back with us. Richard, thanks for joining us again.
00:09Always great to be here, thank you.
00:10We've got some great stuff coming for Xbox One.
00:12New update around the corner.
00:13What can fans expect in June?
00:16Well, this is a really, really big update.
00:18We've added support for external storage,
00:21being able to share your real name
00:22with people on your friends list,
00:24a bunch of important improvements to Smart Glass,
00:26and as we've already announced,
00:28this is the system update that enables you
00:30to access popular apps like Netflix and Hulu and Machinima
00:35without requiring you to have an Xbox Live Gold membership.
00:38Great stuff. Now let's go right back to the top.
00:40I want to talk about external storage.
00:42A lot of fans have been waiting for that.
00:43Tell us how it's going to work.
00:45Well, the basic compatibility requirement
00:47is you need a USB 3.0 compatible drive
00:50with 256 gigabytes or more available on it.
00:54Awesome. And then tell me a little bit more
00:56about how that works.
00:57Well, so you plug it into the console.
00:59We'll recognize that you've attached a compatible device.
01:02Ask if you want to format it.
01:04We'll format the device.
01:06And from that point forward,
01:08it now becomes the default storage device
01:10for all the content that you download.
01:12So the next game that you download
01:13will go to the USB attached drive
01:16instead of the internal hard drive.
01:18but when you run out of space
01:20will automatically spill over into the Xbox One hard drive.
01:24Okay.
01:24You can go into your collection
01:25and take all the stuff that you've already downloaded
01:27to your Xbox One hard drive,
01:29move it over to your external drive,
01:32and then you have everything in one nice neat little package
01:35if you want to bring it over to your friend's house
01:36and play on their Xbox One.
01:38Now, one of the neat features I saw
01:39is you can actually use multiple drives.
01:40Is that right?
01:41That's right.
01:41You can use a maximum of two drives simultaneously.
01:44So bringing the total to three storage devices,
01:47including the internal hard drive.
01:49That is awesome news.
01:50Tell us about real names.
01:51That sounds very interesting.
01:52Well, real names is something that's important to us
01:55and many people have asked for.
01:57You know, gamer tags are a fantastic thing to have
02:00when you're in a multiplayer game.
02:02But when you're out browsing your friend's list,
02:04when you have, you know,
02:05a thousand people on your friend's list
02:07that you're following,
02:09it can at times be a little confusing who's who.
02:13So the first time you launch the friends app
02:16after the June update,
02:17we'll ask if you want to enable real name sharing.
02:20If you say you don't,
02:22then everyone will always know you by your gamer tag only.
02:25So in my case, Major Nelson.
02:26That's right.
02:27Okay.
02:27If you say that you do,
02:28we will then ask you for which of your friends
02:32do you want to enable real names for?
02:34And you can be,
02:35you can simply select all of your friends if you want,
02:37or you can select them individually, one by one,
02:41if that's your choice,
02:42if you want to have a little more control
02:43over who's seeing your real name.
02:45So people can see my real name, Larry Herb,
02:46either everybody, a few people, or nobody.
02:49And it's, again, my choice.
02:50That's right.
02:51And you can be very, very specific about
02:52who on your friends list can see your real name.
02:55So there's another really cool feature of real names
02:57where you can enable a further discovery
02:59through friends of friends
03:01by enabling your real name
03:02to be shared through friends of friends.
03:04And how does this work with followers?
03:06Well, so your followers will always know you by gamer tag
03:08unless you also add them as a friend.
03:10Oh, that makes sense.
03:11All right.
03:12So let's talk about Smart Glass,
03:13some great new features coming.
03:15Give us some of the highlights.
03:16Well, there's actually a bunch
03:17of great new features in Smart Glass.
03:19There's a set of features that deepen your connection
03:22with your social network on Xbox Live.
03:24All right.
03:25When you start the Smart Glass app,
03:28you'll notice that the activity feed
03:29is now on the home screen.
03:30You can see what your friends are up to
03:32quickly at a glance on your phone
03:33when you're away from the console.
03:35So it's just like the activity feed
03:36in the console, more or less.
03:37That's right.
03:37It will take you straight
03:38to achievement comparison
03:39if you've seen achievements been unlocked.
03:41But the other cool thing
03:42is broadcast notifications
03:44for your friends
03:45that are broadcasting on Twitch.
03:47You'll now get the notification
03:48on your Smart Glass device.
03:50And if you act on that notification,
03:51you'll be taken straight
03:52to the Twitch experience
03:53wherever you are
03:54to see what your friend is up to in that game.
03:57And then, of course,
03:57you can obviously watch it.
03:58That's right.
03:59That's awesome.
04:00Awesome.
04:00What else do we have?
04:01So there's another set of features
04:02that broaden its use
04:04as a companion to your console.
04:06So something as simple
04:07but as requested
04:08is pin reordering
04:09so you can discreetly reorder
04:10the pins on your console
04:12using Smart Glass.
04:13So all the favorite things
04:14I have on my console
04:15over on the left-hand side,
04:16you can now go into Smart Glass
04:18and you'll be able to just
04:18dynamically rearrange them
04:19exactly the way you want.
04:21By color, alphabetically,
04:22any way I want.
04:23That's exactly right.
04:24Okay.
04:24So, Richard,
04:25there's additional enhancements
04:26coming to Smart Glass
04:27regarding the guide, right?
04:28That's right.
04:29So as we've already announced,
04:31the one guide
04:31is coming to Smart Glass
04:33so you'll be able to see
04:34TV listings
04:35on your Smart Glass device.
04:36but we're also launching
04:39a universal remote control feature
04:41as part of Smart Glass
04:42so that you can control
04:43your TV experience
04:44and all the other
04:45AV components
04:45that you have in your system
04:47using your Smart Glass device.
04:50So I'll be able to control
04:50my TV volume
04:52or my AV volume,
04:53turn it up and turn it down,
04:54mute it and do whatever
04:54I want to change channels.
04:56That's absolutely right.
04:57It's a really cool feature.
04:58Richard,
04:58do you have any other features
04:59you'd like to mention?
05:00Yeah.
05:01Yeah, actually,
05:01in response to
05:03customer feedback,
05:04we are introducing
05:05the much-requested
05:07auto-sign-in feature
05:08with this release.
05:09Now, what does that mean?
05:10What that means
05:10is you'll be able to
05:11configure one of the accounts
05:13on your console
05:14to automatically sign in
05:16every time you power up
05:17or come out of
05:18connected standby.
05:19Awesome.
05:19Richard Irving
05:19from the Xbox Engineering team,
05:21thanks for the updates
05:21and thanks for your time today.
05:23Thanks for having me.
05:23Thanks for having me.
