00:00Hi everybody I'm Larry Herb Xbox Live's Major Nelson. I'm here today to talk about some new features that are
00:06beginning to roll out today to the Xbox One community. The team has been working hard on this update for
00:13months which includes Beam streaming, an updated Xbox experience with the new guide, home, and multitasking scenarios plus much more.
00:23Let's talk about the Beam app which now comes installed on your Xbox with this update.
00:30Beam is an innovative and interactive live streaming service that gives viewers the ability to watch and play along with
00:37their favorite streamers in near real time.
00:41Beam was designed with sub-second latency so viewers and streamers can interact almost instantly.
00:47You will be able to browse the app for games you want to view, search for relevant game content or
00:53your favorite streamers, follow your favorite streamers, and earn points by watching streams or video on demand content.
01:01Broadcasting to Beam is even easier. To start broadcasting, open the newly updated guide accessible with one click of the
01:09Xbox button on the controller.
01:11When you're ready to start a broadcast, select the options for your stream, click the button, and there you go,
01:17you're on the air.
01:18If you have a Beam account set up, you can link it to your Xbox account in the system settings.
01:24If you don't have an account, start broadcasting and Beam will do the work on the back end to create
01:29a temporary account that you can finish later.
01:33Meanwhile, all your Xbox Live friends will be able to see your stream.
01:38Let's talk about some of the other ways your console will improve alongside this update.
01:43You just saw the new guide, which has been updated to bring the most frequently used tasks right to your
01:48fingertips.
01:49In the guide, you'll notice there are a few new features.
01:54Starting with Game DVR, saving screenshots and recording game clips just got even easier.
02:00And in the Game DVR menu, you now have easier access to capture gameplay and to modify your options.
02:07When recording, you'll see in the menu overlay that it lasts up to 5 minutes.
02:12You can also start a recording manually that will last up to 10 minutes.
02:18Next, you may have noticed the music controls in the guide.
02:21If you have music playing in the background from any number of apps, you can access the controls directly from
02:26the guide here to control play and pause, rewind, fast forward and of course volume.
02:35The next feature in the guide might be one of my favorites.
02:39If you've ever been playing a game and wondered what achievement to get next, we've got a great new experience
02:45for you.
02:46Built into the guide is a new achievement tracker.
02:49It's active based on the game you're playing and you can select multiple achievements to track in an overlay while
02:55you're playing.
02:57Now, let's show you what the new home screen looks like.
03:00You may notice the UI looks a little different.
03:03Across the board, we've simplified the experience to make better use of the space around the screen.
03:09Now you'll see a smaller icon for the game with options to dive deeper into the community surrounding the game,
03:15as well as the ability to interact with your club, find looking for group posts, view your achievements and more.
03:22What makes these changes so exciting is gamers are going to see an overall performance and stability increase to the
03:29overall navigation of your Xbox experience.
03:32Menus are going to feel faster and smoother.
03:34Apps and games will load quicker.
03:36And as you move from one task to the next, multitasking becomes even easier.
03:43We've also made some updates to Cortana, improving the overall performance and reliability.
03:49Cortana now appears as an overlay on your screen.
03:52You can set reminders and alarms, access party controls and play music with simple voice controls.
04:00There are also a host of new accessibility features coming with this update as part of our commitment to gaming
04:06for everyone.
04:08Our new co-pilot feature lets you link two individual controllers together on a single user profile and use them
04:15at the same time as if they were one controller.
04:18This is great for players who need unique configurations to play, as well as anyone who wants to add a
04:24cooperative element to any game.
04:26We've added a new controller vibration configuration update that gives players more flexibility with controller settings, specifically the ability to
04:35turn off vibration for all standard Xbox controllers, something that was previously reserved for Xbox Elite wireless controllers.
04:44The team has worked hard and we hope you enjoy these updates to your Xbox One experience.
