00:35ESPN X Games and Xbox are teaming up to host 8 of the top qualifying teams from around
00:41the world to compete on-site at X Games Aspen for medals and $30,000 in prize money.
00:48The event will be streamed live on WatchESPN, Twitch.tv forward slash Halo and MLG.tv forward
00:55slash Halo. Also, be sure to tune in to the Halo World Championship UK finals that started
01:02today and continue through Sunday, January 17th. Plus, keep an eye out for the next round
01:07of the Halo World Championship qualifiers in North America, which are taking place now
01:12through Sunday, January 17th. Not only is Halo a tremendous spectator sport, but if you're
01:17like me, you can pick up a lot of great tips just watching how the pros play. Pay particular
01:24attention to how they move around the map and the shortcuts they use. Now, if only my pistol
01:29skills could increase just by watching.
01:34Finally, the Gears of War Pro League Season 1 finals took place last week, and we wanted
01:39to send a big shout out to Denial Esports for their incredible display of Gears skill. Down
01:462-0 in the final matchup, Denial put up an impressive comeback with three straight wins to be crowned
01:52the Gears Esports ESL Pro League Season 1 champs. If you've watched the stream, you know it was an
01:59incredibly rowdy good time befitting the Gears franchise. So much bloody good fun.
02:06Did you watch the first season of Gears of War Pro League and think, hey, my team has what it
02:10takes
02:10to be the next champions? Well, you never know unless you give it a try. Sign up now for the
02:15open
02:16qualifier taking place Sunday, January 17th. The top-ranked team will compete for a spot in the
02:22Pro League for Season 2.
02:25We mentioned that the Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 beta was coming last week, and now,
02:30that's right, it is here! You can jump on your Xbox One right now through Monday, January 18th for
02:37some ultra-vibrant Plant on Undead action. Check it out. Personally, I can't wait to try out the new
02:43M-Class with their crazy Z-mechs. In the beta, you'll be able to jump into the brand new interactive
02:48lobby with
02:49Backyard Battleground, test your stamina with Flag of Power, and join your friends in the brand new
02:5524-player Herbal Assault. Of course, old favorites like Gardens and Graveyards are available as well.
03:03With attacks like the Butter Barrage, and a fire-wielding dragon mech like Little Drake, it is
03:08impossible not to have fun with this game. Give the beta a shot this weekend, and let me know
03:14your thoughts. Hit me up on Twitter, at Major Nelson.
03:25If you've been anxiously awaiting Tom Clancy's The Division, then this next bit
03:29of news might interest you. The Xbox One Tom Clancy's The Division bundle was announced
03:34this week, and includes the Xbox One terabyte console, a standard Xbox One wireless controller
03:40with a 3.5 millimeter headset jack, a 14-day Xbox Live Gold membership trial, and a full game
03:48download of Tom Clancy's The Division. All of this can be yours when the bundle releases early this March.
03:54Come at me!
04:06Lots of us over here at Xbox are excited for Homefront The Revolution, and the team over at Deep Silver
04:12announced that the game is scheduled to release May 17th in North America and May 20th in all other territories.
04:18They dropped even more exciting news with the announcement of a closed beta coming exclusively to Xbox One in February.
04:26Now, beta spots are limited, and the only way to gain access is through acquiring an Xbox One beta code.
04:33Deep Silver and Xbox will have several promotions over the coming weeks that will offer the opportunity to claim your
04:38own beta code.
04:39But your best shot of getting into the beta is by heading over to the official Homefront website below and
04:45registering yourself.
04:52Now for Out Now. If you're a fan of Pinball FX2 and Star Wars The Force Awakens, then guess what?
04:58You are having a really good week.
05:00The new Star Wars Pinball The Force Awakens table features all new table-transforming environment mechanics that take you to
05:07various locations from the film and let you experience 12 different story modes.
05:12Then there's Star Wars Pinball Might of the First Order, which puts you in command of the First Order and
05:18sets you on a dark path for power and control of the galaxy.
05:23The Star Wars Pinball 2-pack is out now, and it looks like a great addition to the addictively fun
05:28Pinball FX2 game.
05:31Also out now is Banner Saga, an epic role-playing Viking saga where every decision you make in travel, conversation,
05:39and combat has a meaningful effect on how your story unfolds.
05:45Then there's Hyperdrive Massacre, a crazy couch multiplayer game that puts you in the seat of, get this, a space
05:52Cadillac.
05:53It's got tons of great game modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Deathrace, Last Man Standing, Space Soccer, or Retro-style
06:02Spacepalm.
06:09And then we have the highly anticipated Oxenfreed, a supernatural thriller about a group of friends who unwittingly open a
06:17ghostly rift.
06:18The interesting mechanic here is that you determine every aspect of the main character's story while exploring the dark past
06:25of an old military island and changing the course of your friends' lives.
06:33Normally, we have a weekend highlight, but this next one is so good, it's getting a week-long highlight.
06:39During the week of January 19th through the 24th, Xbox Live Gold members will get to experience the EA Access
06:46Vault for, get this, free.
06:49All you need to do is download the EA Access app.
06:53Then you'll be able to play more than a dozen of EA's best games available now in the vault.
06:59After free play days, you'll have the option to become an EA Access member so you can continue playing your
07:04favorite vault games and you'll even get to keep your gamer score and achievements that you earned while playing.
07:11Did you know you can adjust the sound in your headset when using the controller with the built-in 3
07:16.5mm jack?
07:18How? Simply double-tap the Xbox button and head down to Settings. You can adjust it right from there.
07:24Keep in mind, though, these settings are only available if you're using a headset with the 3.5mm connection.
07:33You know what the show's been missing? A long-overdue community spotlight.
07:37Forge was added to Halo 5 Guardians just before the holidays, and from what I've seen, many of you have
07:43been creating some incredible maps on your own.
07:45Here are a few from the community that we thought were very well done.
07:49First is an original map called Kronos, which kind of reminds me of Haven from Halo 4.
07:55The cool thing here is a set of pillars in the middle of the map that move up and down
07:59using Forge's scripting feature.
08:01Now, scripting isn't easy, so it's quite impressive that they did it just to improve the looks of the map.
08:06Then we have Simulation. Now, this is a really impressive reimagining of the pit because neither of these Forgers has
08:13made a Forge map before this,
08:14and it's already being championed as the best community-made breakout map.
08:19Finally, there's Mongoose Sumo by Turbtastic.
08:22This is a wacky fun minigame where you use a mongoose to push or flip opponents out of a circle
08:28until only one remains.
08:30Head to halowaypoint.com for more information on how you can get these Forge maps and more.
08:36That wraps things up for this week.
08:38Thanks for watching.
