01:38Ci senti molti messaggi e emaili.
01:40Ci sono un pozzo di messaggi,
01:41quindi abbiamo ricevuto circa 7.000 messaggi sui per la Kickstarter.
01:46Ci sono 4 persone,
01:48senti e rispondendo questi messaggi,
01:51ma non è ancora sufficiente.
01:52Quindi mi senti,
01:53se qualcuno non riceveva una risposta più rapida.
01:59più rapida,
02:00facciamo tutto questo per rispondere,
02:04per rispondere così come possibile.
02:05Ma per fare un pozzo di più meglio,
02:10abbiamo già avuto un'epoca
02:16di rispondendo la maggiori domande sui.
02:19ask us. So have a look at it and hopefully it answers most of the things that were not clear.
02:29Hello and welcome to our first video update in which we are going to show you how we build the
02:33world through our game. So as you probably know the world in our game is based on new locations
02:43and we are trying to be as authentic and accurate as possible. And this applies to a map of the
02:52world
02:52itself. So it's based in a real-world location and now I'm going to show you how I started when
03:01I
03:01was planning where the game will take place. So at the beginning there was a map. It's actually map
03:09from 18th or early 19th century and I was looking for interesting locations and I found a nice small
03:17town which curiously has two castles at each end which I found quite interesting and then I also
03:27found that they have some connection with our main story. So it was the right location to choose.
03:34Then I started to search places that are nearby and I realized that there are many interesting
03:43stuff like several castles, some monastery, a lot of places that we can use in the game. So I selected
03:50area on the map which would cover all the interesting places and then started to work on it because it
03:57was
03:58quite large so we needed to compress it a little bit so everything fits into a reasonable size of the
04:03map
04:06and at the same time the the place still looks authentic and doesn't feel like it's too much
04:15compressed or weird. So the first thing I did I started to select the areas that are kind of boring,
04:23empty, not interesting and the result is this. We have a map and the green strips are the places
04:32that are going to be cut, the pink locations are the areas of interest, the most important parts
04:39and the rest is something that we will need to stretch together when we remove the green areas.
04:46We did it. So in the end we have a map which looks like this. This is a final map
04:53for the game.
04:54So when the map was ready we bought a satellite height map with a resolution of about one meter per
05:02pixel which is quite high and we started to adjust the satellite map with our in-game map so they
05:08fit.
05:10and then we start to paint the world in CryEngine itself. We start to paint trees, roads, build cities,
05:15give it textures and stuff which is something that you can see the difference between the empty world
05:21and the satellite in the video. On the map from the game you can see that I marked a lot
05:27of areas in the
05:28map with numbers. The numbers are corresponding with our design documents where we have a lot of directories
05:39with every map which should serve as some kind of guide for artists how the particular area should
05:47look like. So here you can see that we selected a lot of interesting nice locations and different parts
05:56of the map should look like these locations in terms of colors, atmosphere, vegetation and so on.
06:03And when we are at this point we start our research. So we read a lot of books, we go
06:08to archives to find
06:09some old maps or plans of locations or interiors of castles or buildings. We are consulting with
06:17historians and of course we are going to on location to take pictures of the location from them to shoot
06:22textures, see how it looks personally, have some impression of the scale of the area
06:31and so on. So now let me take you outside to see how the in-game locations look in a
06:37real world.
06:44Here we stand in front of Rattai's upper castle which is the biggest castle in act one. As you can
06:50see
06:50behind me it's not actually what you can see in the trailer because the castle was later replaced by a
06:56chateau and then the chateau was devastated by 40 years of communist rule so it's in quite a bad state.
07:03Only thing that's probably left from the 15th century already is this wall which you can actually see
07:10in the game if you are careful and we are standing on the bridge that was formerly crossing the big
07:22castle
07:23moat and which is not there anymore and the gate behind was there was a big tower. What we did
07:30is that we
07:31asked a local archaeologist who was doing some excavation work here and showed him our sketches of
07:39how we think the castle looked and consulted how it probably looked. We may make it a little bit
07:46bigger than it actually was so originally it probably has only one tower and we gave it two towers but
07:53since
07:53nobody know how it actually looked before it's probably okay. The only part that's most likely the same
08:02as it was in the 15th century are the dungeons under the castle and so we will probably show you
08:12the dungeons underground of the castle as well. And here you can see the one of the walls of the
08:20castle
08:20as you can see it's like one two three and something meters thick and now we are going to go
08:29to the
08:29castle dungeons which are also 15th century maybe earlier I guess dungeons from the same time
08:42the game takes place. So here we are in the original 15th century medieval refrigerator
08:55it's duck in rock it's really maybe even earlier than 15th century and it was used to keep food fresh
09:04during the summer it was filled with ice and the ice was able to be there for the whole summer
09:12it was
09:12very cold here there is a tunnel that took melted ice away water from the melted ice away and
09:18and it's not a big place it's not connected with the rest of the castle dungeons there are several
09:27others and there are there is also one documented secret passage which is in the lower castle it was used
09:37to bring water from the nearby river or escape the castle in danger but it's not definitely
09:45a large underground complex here we are standing in another original 15th century dungeon which is
10:02probably some potato storage room
10:05uh uh you can see here that there was no need to build a wall here because it's standing on
10:14a large rock
10:16massif
10:26this tunnel uh is also very old and part of the uh probably former uh basement of the 15th century
10:35castle uh this large x is there because it was used during communist era so in in case of world
10:44war 3
10:45the kids would take shelter here
11:06this is quite starting to be quite complex uh basement this is probably the biggest part of the basement and
11:15it was used
11:16you can see door there it was used as a fireman station uh because there are we are in the
11:26rock
11:26but there is uh exit from the rock to the side of the of the on the street and there
11:31was a fireman car
11:33stored there
11:40so here we are at the top of the hill where ratai castle stands uh there's a beautiful there was
11:48a
11:48beautiful view actually um it's in the trailer and there are no trees uh the reason why there are no
11:55trees
11:55is that when they build the castles they cut all the trees so they can use the wood to build
12:00a castle and
12:01and also uh for better defense because uh they could um see uh if there's an army marching towards
12:09them or something and of course the attackers couldn't hide in the forest around the castle
12:14but if there were no trees you could probably
12:18saw that the countryside below us is exactly the same as in the game there is a sasawa river
12:26uh there is a small village there that will be there and on the left there is a place and
12:33there
12:33is a mill where part of the trail takes place this here is one of the two town gates of
12:43ratais
12:44this one is only remaining and of course you can see uh the gate in the game as well uh
12:50right the
12:51the beginning of our demo the buildings of course are not there in the in the game they are much
12:57newer so there is just uh countryside around us in the game
13:06and here we stand at a perkstein castle which is a lower castle in the town of ratais and you
13:13can see
13:13that it's uh most most of it is the same as the 15th century as it looks in the game
13:19you can see the
13:21castle on the screenshots the difference is that the tower was originally much higher the stones from
13:26the tower were probably used to build uh some some houses around there was also a bigger moat around the
13:33castle and there this wall is just in ruins so in the game there is a much bigger wall and
13:40there is a
13:40moat where there is a refugee camp in the moat from your former city but you can see that the
13:46gate
13:47and the tower and the buildings behind it we will we are hopefully going to see them very soon
13:52are the same the wooden structure there is it's new it's not original
14:07back in the office we have tons of materials to work with our concept artists start to make
14:13detailed sketches of the locations buildings and artworks that should show our 3d artists how
14:21locations exactly look the mood and the colors and then the 3d artists start to work on it to create
14:273d models and they used uh pictures we took as the textures so i hope you liked what you saw
14:33uh we
14:34are going to continue uh in a few days and we are going to show you our combat system character
14:39customizations horse riding or things like ai systems so stay tuned for future updates
