00:01:20Previously, it was me and Martin Kleckner, our cutscene guy, animator, who were doing it ourselves, and so we wanted
00:01:30to delegate this responsibility to someone.
00:01:34And it didn't work out somehow, so after few tries, we are doing at least this live stream, and probably
00:01:41we will solve the problem, and we will start doing video updates again.
00:01:46So, sorry, I will partially speak about what's new, what we were doing in this live stream as well.
00:01:54But first, let's start with the Alpha. The Alpha is out for like two weeks.
00:01:58Anyone who pledged before, have the access, could already play it on the Steam.
00:02:08And the major few things, like there are a few new things, that are quite major.
00:02:16And first is the crime system that we are going to show you. Adaptive music, that's finally in its proper
00:02:23state.
00:02:24Also the new lighting system, which is super awesome. And also a new UI.
00:02:31We haven't added many quests or anything, so basically the gameplay is similar.
00:02:36But what we added on top of that is combat with multiple AIs. And since there is a crime system,
00:02:45you can fight with anyone in the game.
00:02:48Of course there are lots of limitations, but it's an Alpha, so it's obvious or we can't avoid this.
00:03:00But let's Martin speak about the crime system first.
00:03:03Yes, Martin, so the crime system is one of the biggest features we updated in this Tech Alpha.
00:03:09And you are responsible for the crime system, right?
00:03:11Yes.
00:03:12The idea behind that is, since we want to be historically accurate and this game should be as realistic as
00:03:18possible,
00:03:19we of course want that every action the player does cause some kind of proper reaction.
00:03:24So how does it look with the crime system?
00:03:27Well, the idea behind the crime system is of course not only that we aim to be sort of authentic
00:03:34in respect to history.
00:03:36It's one of the pillars of our gameplay really.
00:03:39So one of the things that we really try to focus on is good AI.
00:03:43So we want to make a living world, which is something that we tried to present in the previous Alpha
00:03:49versions.
00:03:50We wanted you to see that there's, for example, this guy who every day is going to his shop and
00:03:56you can talk to him to buy his wares.
00:03:59There's the blacksmith who goes to do his thing here in the smithery and stuff like that.
00:04:05But a large part of the gameplay is that we want the player to be able to break this system.
00:04:10We want him to, or her, we want them to be able to try to sort of interfere with these
00:04:19routines of these NPCs in ways that are fun and meaningful.
00:04:22So that's a lot of work ahead of us.
00:04:25Basically, so the most important change that we made is that you are now able to attack people.

00:05:47But we know about these and we have several good ideas that we are implementing already.
00:05:54So exactly what you saw there was that I attacked someone and every person in our world is sort of
00:06:02going to react to stuff that's going on around them in a different way based on several factors.
00:06:08Such as when I hit that girl, that poor woman over there.
00:06:12She wasn't really very courageous so she started running.
00:06:15People noticed, you perhaps noticed that the merchant was fleeing as well.
00:06:19And there's a Veilief located in this village of Sanobše.
00:06:22So they ran towards the Veilief and sort of notified him through our crime system that there's something going on
00:06:29and that I'm causing mayhem.
00:06:31It's actually quite unique for saying that people are actually really going somewhere and they reported really there so they
00:06:39actually made a contact with the person and tell him something.
00:06:42In other games it's usually it's like alarm and everybody knows that you are the evil guy.
00:06:46Here, when the people, when you manage to kill the fleeing guy or somehow prevent him reaching the police, you
00:06:59will not be recognized by the police later.
00:07:01So you can, even after somebody sees you, you can prevent him report you.
00:07:06So that's a big difference from other games.

00:07:10So we're really trying to be fair to the player, which is a lot of work actually.
00:07:15But we believe that's going to give birth to a lot of emergent gameplay, to a lot of fun situations

00:07:24So exactly as Dan was saying, there's a system which we would love to show in one of our future
00:07:30updates perhaps.
00:07:32Where people are actually sort of emitting the information that they know, such as there's this dude who is attacking
00:07:40people or there's this dude who is stealing stuff.
00:07:42And they're really running towards someone and emitting the information in a very short vicinity around them.
00:07:51But now we have several options.

00:07:56Even if you kill someone, there is an option to pay.

00:11:11tell hello or something.
00:11:13It's also not very good for complicated dialogues.
00:11:17Basically, it's just people talk to each other or you can speak with someone.
