A domestic dispute over a gas cylinder has turned into a missing person case in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, after a woman left her home with her five-month-old child.

The incident took place in Baudhni hamlet under Ghungheter police station limits. According to the complaint, Anil Kumar, who works at a power company, returned home after night duty on Monday morning and found that no food had been prepared.

When he questioned his wife, Suman Devi (29), she reportedly refused to cook on a traditional earthen stove and insisted that the LPG cylinder be refilled. The disagreement soon escalated into an argument.

Anil said he went to rest after the dispute. When he woke up around 4 PM, he found that his wife had left the house with their five-month-old son. She had also taken some clothes and ₹1,000 in cash.

The husband and his family searched for her at multiple relatives’ homes across nearby areas, including Tedhawan, Asginagar, Usmanpur, and parts of Sitapur district, but found no trace of her.

Following the complaint, police have registered a missing person report and initiated an investigation.

Station House Officer Bechu Yadav confirmed that further legal action is underway based on the written complaint.

Meanwhile, the husband has appealed to his wife to return home, stating that any mistakes can be resolved.
