00:00B, I wanted to talk.
00:01I think we're going to try to get Nikki Javala to join the show tomorrow, I believe.
00:05She had a really good story about kind of similar to what you and I have been saying,
00:12how we think free agency has set them up in the draft.
00:16Yeah.
00:19The only thing I think free agency really did is it eliminated the desperation to take an edge rusher.
00:26You know what I mean?
00:29I think before they had to take an edge rusher at seven, and now they don't necessarily.
00:36If you start to look at the most recent mock drafts, because we're kind of in this interesting time in
00:42the NFL calendar now
00:43where free agency is still going.
00:46It's still going to keep going for the next two months.
00:49Yeah, it will.
00:50But the focus kind of shifts to the draft, and whatever pre-draft trades movement might happen,
00:58Daniel Jeremiah is a draft guy that you and I both think highly of.
01:03He now has, everybody knows Mendoza's going one.
01:06Yeah.
01:06No secret there.
01:07Okay.
01:07Arvel Reese to the Jets has been probably the strongest suggestion, right?
01:13And the Jets would love to take a quarterback, but you're not taking Ty Simpson at two.
01:18Cardinals go the big tackle out of Miami, Malwaga, I think is how you pronounce it.
01:22I could be wrong on that.
01:24How about this, though?
01:26DJ says Jeremiah Love goes forward to the Titans.
01:31Does that help Cam Ward the way he needs it?
01:34Yeah.
01:35I mean, Cam Ward being a young quarterback is going to need somebody to take a little bit of the
01:39pressure off of him.
01:40And based off all the talk about Jeremiah Love, he would be that guy, you know?
01:45I think he would be that guy.
01:47So, get him, Tennessee.
01:50Get him.
01:50So, five.
01:52DJ says Sonny Stiles to the Giants.
01:55I had heard that at Indy, John Harbaugh taking a linebacker with those kind of athletic skills.
02:00That one could track for sure.
02:04And who did they show at seven?
02:05At six, Carnell Tate to the Browns, right?
02:09All right.
02:10Now, a lot of people want to connect Carnell Tate to the Skins.
02:13They're saying Carnell Tate goes to the Browns, stays in Ohio.
02:16Then at seven, Daniel Jeremiah says Washington takes Reuben Bain.
02:21Stud D lineman from Miami.
02:24I mean, we saw him throughout that playoff run.
02:26That's a dude that just beats you up.
02:28Yes.
02:29DJ writes, Washington was aggressive to fill needs at edge rusher in free agency.
02:32Bain has the versatility to play from the edge on early downs and then slide inside in sub packages,
02:38making him a nice compliment to Owe and Chason.
02:42Chason's only on a one-year deal.
02:43Could that be a little bit of danger when I'm reading the tea leaves and saying,
02:48well, Durante said he loves people that are versatile and can play multiple things.
02:55Reuben Bain fits that.
02:57Certainly.
02:58Certainly.
02:59So, if you look at this mock draft from Daniel Jeremiah, that's Love and Tate off the board before Washington
03:08pick.
03:08Right?
03:09Yeah.
03:09Those are kind of the two skill position guys you'd think of for Washington at seven.
03:14Interestingly to that, that leaves Bain and Bailey on the board for Washington at seven.
03:20Bain, Bailey.
03:22Downs.
03:23Downs.
03:26So, Bailey to me is the more plug-and-play pass rusher.
03:30But if Durante really loves the flexibility, the versatility, maybe that makes more sense to take Bain.
03:40If it's Bain and Bailey there for you, who would you want?
03:45I like Bain more.
03:46Do you?
03:47I'm just being real.
03:48So, you know, listen, it's hard for me to listen to the analytics world when I've watched him play.
03:57Sure.
03:58Bailey's been good, too.
03:59Yeah, but.
03:59Bailey's not analytics.
04:00It's just a.
04:01No, no, no.
04:01He's just a pass rusher.
04:02I hear a lot of analytics people discussing him.
04:05But every year we get a pass rusher.
04:08What do we complain about?
04:09That they are lost in the run game.
04:12Bain plays both of them.
04:14So, if you got a guy who can rush the pass and also play style of the run game, it's
04:18hard for me not to, hard for me to forget what I've seen.
04:22I've seen him beat people's ass.
04:24Straight up.
04:26So, I like Bain more.
04:29Now, if they had to, if they drafted Bailey, I'm not going to be upset.
04:33But if I had my choice, I would go with Bain.
04:38I wonder, Jeffrey, if Tate and Love are off the board before Washington picks at seven, who would you want?
04:50Bain, Bailey, Downs?
04:54I'm not going to lie.
04:55I would want Sonny Stiles.
04:58Right, but in this hypothetical situation, he's off the board, too.
05:04Hold on, hold on, hold on.
05:06My ear's not working.
05:07My ears just went out, so I can't hear you.
05:09Okay, all good.
05:09Jeff wants another guy that's not available.
05:13Stallion, what's your reaction if Tate and Love are off the board?
05:18If Tate and Love are off the board, it's going to be really interesting for Washington because are you reaching
05:26for a wide out there if you're taking Lemon or Thomas?
05:28I don't know if the skill position guys that are rumored to be considered at seven, Love and Tate are
05:36off the board, which is the case in Daniel Jeremiah's newest mock, what do you want him to do?
05:40Would you be cool with Ruben Bain?
05:42I'd be fine with Ruben Bain.
05:43I think that guy's good.
05:44But I'd also look at, like, Caleb Downs.
05:46Like, I feel as if Caleb Downs, like, would finally provide that, like, downhill thumper at safety.
05:51And you look around the league, like, Derwin James is someone who dominates inside the box.
05:56Kyle Hamilton can kind of do it all.
05:58And I feel as if he's kind of a mix of both those guys who can do both those things.
06:03And if you look at this past Super Bowl run with the Seahawks, their defense was elite.
06:09Defense wins nowadays.
06:10And so I feel as if while offense obviously matters, you've got to have a good defense to make a
06:16long run.
06:16So if you can solidify the defense with someone like Caleb Downs, give me that.
06:20Yeah, clean tape, man.
06:22Clean tape.
06:23I understand.
06:24What is your – that's why I keep saying why the pro days are going to be so important.
06:29The Ohio State pro day, I believe, is eight days from today.
06:33I think it's next Friday.
06:36And Reese, we've got Aaron's bracket officially in.
06:41Aaron is paid.
06:41Aaron is in.
06:45Reese has questions in what does he become as a pro, right?
06:50Like, is he a backer?
06:51Is he a pass rusher?
06:53Those are good problems to have.
06:54I think Micah Parsons kind of dispelled the notion of you've got to have a clear position coming in the
06:59NFL.
07:00Micah Parsons, I guess there were some locker room questions too, whatever weird stuff happened at Penn State.
07:08That – he – I don't know.
07:11I think every team in the NFL would like that Micah Parsons right now.
07:13Okay.
07:16The Ohio State kids, I think why that pro day is going to be so important.
07:20Reese, the athleticism is off the charts.
07:22Maybe you are able to watch him in a more comfortable setting and he tests and you get more comfortable
07:29where you think you project him.
07:31I don't think Reese is going to be there at seven, period.
07:33So then with Downs, you have these medical questions.
07:38I don't know how legit they are.
07:40Some dude at the combine reported them.
07:42I don't know how legit that dude is or his source is.
07:44They got to go check it and find out.
07:45If it's something that they have to worry about, yeah.
07:47But if your doctors don't find nothing, to hell with somebody reported.
07:51So you need to go – the fact that it's been reported, yes, you got to check it out.
07:55But as soon as – if your doctor say nothing, one finger salute to those people that reported that and
08:00keep moving.
08:00But if you see something, then you might want to back off a little bit.
08:04Sure.
08:05And then with Tate, do you expect – personally, I expect Tate to run a faster 40 in Columbus than
08:15maybe he got clocked at in Indy.
08:17But as Cynthia told you, I'm not worried about a 4.52, dog.
08:23I mean, he ran 4.52.
08:25So if you run a 4.48, he's great.
08:27If you look at 4.52 and 4.48, it's this much.
08:32It's less than an actual pencil from each other.
08:35So there's not much at all.
08:37I think when you look at – if he ran a 4.72, 4.62, I'll be concerned.
08:434.52, not at all.
08:45So would you look at any of those other receivers, the Arizona State kid or the USC kid at 7
08:53if Tate is off the board earlier?
08:56The receivers?
08:58Yeah.
08:58Well, there are some people who believe that the kid from Arizona State and another USC dude are probably as
09:03good or better.
09:04Right.
09:04So if you've gone through your whole thing and you come out and one of those guys, I don't think
09:09you're missing.
09:10I think all three of those guys are legit.
09:12But I think when you look at Ohio State and their track record, you automatically put the other guy in
09:18front.
09:19One of these other dudes may be as good as him or better.
09:22So, Jeff, to your point, if Tate and Love are off the board, you still want them to go offense?
09:27Yo, if – I look at it like this.
09:30If there's too many questions with the defensive players and you know you got a solid answer on another receiver,
09:36why not?
09:39Yeah.
09:40I mean, there's a lot of wideouts that could help this team.
09:44I also – there are more than one talent evaluator that says Jordan Tyson, the Arizona State kid, is the
09:51best wideout in this draft.
09:53He's just had injury questions.
09:54He's got hamstring questions.
09:57Makai Lemon is the USC kid.
09:59He's just a lot smaller.
10:01He kind of projects as a slot guy in the NFL.
10:06I don't know, man.
10:07It's just not the best, most thorough draft at the receiver position.
10:11There aren't the elite prospects we've seen in years past or that we'll see next year when that Bama kid
10:17and the Ohio State kid come out.
10:19Now, if one of those dudes, like from Arizona State and USC runs a 4-3-something,
10:24then they're not going to make the 4-5-2 wonder.
10:27USC already had their pro day.
10:30USC already had their pro day, and I don't think Lemon's 40 was particularly exciting.
10:35I don't know about Arizona State.
10:37I also don't know about Tyson's health to go.
10:41I think it's a very interesting situation.
10:43If Love and Tate really do go before them, I think they probably go defense.
10:48And I, for one, will not be mad at Reuben Bay.
10:51That dude is an absolute dog that helps you out.
