00:01Good morning, ladies.
00:03Good morning, Brew.
00:05A new class of biological women is arriving,
00:07ready to change their lives through the miracle of drag.
00:11Mother versus daughters.
00:13This could get interesting.
00:15That means I'm going to need the help of three of you professors.
00:19Professor Morgan McMichaels,
00:21Angina PhD,
00:23Dr. Tammy Brown.
00:25Today, we have a mother and her two daughters
00:27ready to drag out their inner divas family style.
00:31Let's take a look.
00:33My name is Tasha.
00:34Growing up, I was fat.
00:35And when you're the fat kid with braces and acne,
00:38kids are ruthless.
00:39I remember even being in high school, I wasn't able to go to the prom.
00:43I really need help getting past my negative self-image.
00:47My sister is Brandy.
00:48She was always out front, center, beautiful.
00:51I always found myself kind of living in her shadow.
00:53I want to be a part of Drag U to be the pretty sister.
01:00My name is Brandy.
01:01In my early 20s, I had a killer three-piece band named Stiletto.
01:04I did a little bit of modeling, and I was glamorous,
01:06and I had a lot of attention, and it was a fun, fun feeling.
01:08When I had my children, it put me out of the spotlight for a moment.
01:11I want to prove here at Drag U that I can be a moment,
01:13and I can be that stage queen, too.
01:18I'm Connie. I'm Tasha and Brandy's mom.
01:20And I have fallen into a rut.
01:21I used to be wild, a biker girl.
01:25I was a party animal.
01:27But I was also a mom, raising two children.
01:30The change happened when I turned 50.
01:34Now I have to walk with a cane, which I hate.
01:40I want to go to Drag U to feel good about myself.
01:43Again.
01:44So, Mom, this is our runway, and that's where the judges sit.
01:48Oh.
01:49Touchdown Drag U!
01:56Welcome to RuPaul's Drag U.
01:58Hi, baby.
02:00I am so excited to have our first mother and daughters enrolled in Drag U.
02:07Now, sometimes we take for granted the people closest to us,
02:09but the one person that we're always hardest on is ourselves.
02:13Now, while you're here, I'm going to challenge you to do whatever it takes
02:17to make peace with the past and get ready to sashay into the future.
02:22Now, RuPaul's Drag U, like the real world, is a competition with yourself and with each other.
02:28Now, you'll be graded on your DPA, your drag point average.
02:33D is for your drag transformation.
02:35P is for performance.
02:37And A is your attitude adjustment.
02:40You'll have 48 hours until your draguation.
02:43And in the end, only one of you will draguate with top honors.
02:48Are you ready to do whatever it takes to become the baddest bitch in school?
02:53Oh, yeah.
02:53Oh, yeah.
02:54Walk this way.
02:58No, really.
02:59Walk this way.
03:02Door.
03:07Welcome to the Drag Lab, your one-stop shop for everything gaudy, glitzy, and glamorous.
03:15Here you'll find everything you need, including fabulous hair from Wilshire wigs,
03:20accessories by Style Q, and more sequins and feathers than a sleepover at Adam Lambert's house.
03:26I see wigs.
03:27I see boas.
03:28I see shoes everywhere.
03:29It's like a treasure chest of wardrobe.
03:31But the most important tool of all is your own personal drag professor,
03:36who will guide you through every step of this competition.
03:39Tasha, you're with Angina.
03:42One of Tasha's best features is her smile, and I think she's beautiful.
03:45Brandy, you're with Tammy Brown.
03:47I'm ecstatic to be paired up with Brandy.
03:50She looks sort of like Betty Davis.
03:52That means, Connie, you are with Morgan McMichaels.
03:56Morgan is fierce.
03:59We have your work cut out for you.
04:00My first impression of Connie was the egg lady from the John Waters movie.
04:05All right, professors.
04:06It's time to take your students through their entrance exam.
04:12What was your nickname when you were a kid?
04:15Oshkosh Big Tosh.
04:16Who called you that?
04:17My sister.
04:17It's really mean.
04:18Well, we just put the fun in dysfunctional.
04:20What kind of first impression do you usually make on people?
04:22Either you love me or you hate me.
04:24Why?
04:24Well, sometimes I seem too confident, I guess.
04:26You could look like anyone.
04:28Who would you look like?
04:29Pamela Anderson.
04:30I think she's beautiful.
04:31Well, honey, you know we all want to look like Pamela Anderson?
04:33Oh, well, there you go.
04:34Describe yourself in three words.
04:36One bad.
04:38Easy.
04:40What about your attitude?
04:42I'm really negative.
04:43I'm gonna turn that negative upside down.
04:45Sure.
04:45You're like, I have no idea.
04:46I'm Debbie Downer.
04:47I think that I can work with Tasha.
04:49I just need to fine tune her confidence a little bit.
04:53When was the last time that you felt pretty?
04:54Probably about five years ago.
04:56That's when I started packing on the weight and had to wear glasses.
04:59And then it just went downhill from there.
05:01She thinks now that she's over 50, she is basically dead.
05:04And I think the women over 50 are the fiercest women.
05:08I'm gonna have to whip you into shape.
05:09Yeah, well, it's gonna take some doing.
05:12All right, class, follow me to the Dragulator.
05:15This family is going to face the Dragulator and hopefully this ride will be smooth.
05:21The Dragulator is a highly sophisticated piece of technology.
05:26Tasha, let's start with you.
05:29Commence Dragulation.
05:33Dragulation complete.
05:36Thunderella.
05:38Can you see yourself turning into Thunderella?
05:42Thunder thighs, Thunderella.
05:43Okay.
05:44I look gorgeous in that photo.
05:46I don't even think that's me in that picture.
05:47All right, Brandy, it's your turn.
05:51Commence Dragulation.
05:55Dragulation complete.
05:58Je ne sais quoi.
06:03I love the dominatrix black look. I can rock that.
06:07And last but not least, Connie girl.
06:11Commence Dragulation.
06:15Dragulation complete.
06:19Beverly Hills.
06:20Oh, hell no.
06:22I did not like it.
06:24And I don't do heels anymore.
06:26Oh, I'm not liking the hair.
06:27Well, you've got your work cut out for you.
06:29I may have to kick Connie's ass into gear.
06:32Coming up.
06:33I think she's gonna win it because she has a lot of pentam anger inside.
06:36I hate this.
06:38Yeah.
06:38Maybe we can get Connie a nice throne.
06:41Oh, my God.
06:42She's observing more than performing now.
06:44And later.
06:46There were times you were dying a thousand deaths.
06:49It's time to drag you eight bitches.
06:51Drag you or you're headed for me.
06:58Welcome to Beat It 101.
07:00In the drag world, a slang term for applying makeup is beating your face.
07:06Now, if you've ever seen some queens without makeup, you know they need to beat their faces into submission before
07:12they're beautiful.
07:14For today's pop quiz, you'll be beating this face.
07:19You'll each take a turn at beating this pinata filled with all sorts of cosmetics and other goodies.
07:24I want to give you a chance to beat out the things that keep you from embracing your true beauty.
07:33Now, with each swing, I want you to shout out something you're mad about.
07:37We have to beat a pinata, and I felt really stupid.
07:42Let me back up.
07:44Ready, set, beat it, Connie.
07:46I hate my arse ruckus.
07:48Get it, girl.
07:49I hate my glasses.
07:51I don't think that Connie's taking this seriously as I think she should.
07:54This is crazy.
07:56Beat it, Tasha.
07:57I hate being the ugly sister.
08:00I feel for Tasha because it's not easy to get made fun of.
08:03I hate my thighs.
08:04I hate my butt.
08:05I hate my butt.
08:07I think she's going to win it because she has a lot of handsome anger inside.
08:10Oh!
08:12I hate my big forehead.
08:13I've been told tons of times that I have a five head and a six head.
08:16And my only response to that?
08:18Well, a lot of room to put in a lot of brain.
08:20I hate my post baby weight.
08:22Brandy and her big forehead.
08:24Really liked taking out that aggression and the pinata.
08:26And I like it.
08:27Beat it, Connie.
08:28Okay, I'm going to be a sexy grandma.
08:30She's trying her hardest to beat the out of this, but she keeps missing.
08:34Kate, this thing won't break open.
08:35Girl, will you hit that pinata, please?
08:37Oh, my God.
08:38Repeat after me.
08:39I hate the kids who used to tease me.
08:41Oh, God.
08:41I hate this .
08:43Yeah!
08:43As I was beating the pinata, all I could think of was, take this.
08:47This is for everything that I have gone through my whole life.
08:50And I gave it everything I had.
08:52Beat it, Tasha!
08:54Yeah!
09:00I don't want to be the ugly sister.
09:02And I think that kind of helped because I'm not ugly anymore.
09:06I've gotten past that ugly-dugly stage.
09:08Now I just got to know it.
09:10I got to live it.
09:11And the winner of this challenge is Tasha.
09:15Yes!
09:16For your prize, you've won a makeup kit from NYX Cosmetics,
09:20push-up bras and padded panties from Pure Style Girlfriends.
09:24Oh, that's nice.
09:25And a shopping spree on WilshireBeauty.com.
09:29Congratulations.
09:30Condragulation.
09:32I could be the baddest bitch in school.
09:33Not a problem.
09:35There's nothing stopping me right now.
09:43Being a drag queen, when you go on stage, it's a battle for attention.
09:46And this family needs to learn how to steal the spotlight.
09:50Hello, class.
09:51I'd like you to meet our Dean of Dance, Frank Gatson.
09:54Hello, ladies.
09:54Hello.
09:54Hello.
09:55He's going to prepare you for your final dragxamination.
09:58A full-on lip-sync performance.
10:01In front of a live audience, including your family and friends.
10:07Okay.
10:08Knowing that I have to perform is terrifying to me.
10:11I have stage fright.
10:14Frank, what song have you chosen to set this mother and her two daughters free?
10:18Disney's Child, I'm a Survivor.
10:21I'm a survivor.
10:22I'm not gon' give her.
10:23I'm not gon' tell her.
10:25I'm no work harder.
10:26I know it, but it's one of those songs that you hear all the time and you only learn the
10:29chorus.
10:29I was scared for them.
10:30I'm not gonna lie.
10:31Quite honestly, I don't know the song, so it's gonna be hard.
10:34Now, remember, ladies, you'll be working together as a group, but grade it on your individual drag point average.
10:41Now, Frank, let them have it.
10:43Connie, the mom has a cane.
10:45That means I have to adapt this choreography to her, and it's gonna be a little difficult.
10:49You have a hip problem or something?
10:51Yes, I do.
10:51Whenever you feel like you just got to sit down, let me know, okay?
10:54I'm hurting right now.
10:55Maybe for the challenge, professors, we can get Connie a nice throne.
11:00Oh, my God.
11:01I'm kind of worried about Connie.
11:03How the hell are you gonna win this, sitting in a chair?
11:06This is gesturography, okay?
11:08Thought I'd be sad.
11:09You thought I was stressed with you, but I'm chillin'.
11:11You got it?
11:12Come on, Brandy and Tasha.
11:13We gotta learn to slow walk.
11:15One, two...
11:16Brandy, she got it.
11:17You can see how aggressive she was and how she really liked doing what she was doing.
11:20You can see she has guts.
11:22So you're out of my life.
11:23I'm so much better.
11:24It's out of my life.
11:25I'm so much better.
11:26It's gonna be tough.
11:27Grace was never one of my strong suits.
11:29Okay, let's try it again.
11:30But you know that walk, ladies?
11:31Think proud matador.
11:34Once I saw her have two left feet, I wanted to scream at her very positively.
11:38So she knows that I'm in it to win it.
11:41Okay, stop.
11:42Y'all didn't do it.
11:43I don't remember what we're doing.
11:44Okay, that's why we rehearsing.
11:45Now this is where you have to nail your lip sync.
11:47Lip sync for my life.
11:49Okay, okay.
11:50Connie is definitely not picking up on the choreography.
11:52She's not learning.
11:54Come on, professors.
11:54Come and help me with this.
11:55It's time to take that stage and just show this family of drag performance.
12:00Now that you're out of my life, I'm so much better.
12:02You thought that I'd be weak without you, but I'm stronger.
12:05You thought that I'd be broke without you, but I'm richer.
12:08You thought that I'd be dead without you.
12:10I love harder.
12:11People work harder.
12:11I must have better.
12:13I love you.
12:14Okay, stop.
12:15Let's go over the gestures again.
12:17No, I don't remember the gestures.
12:19For Connie to be a survivor, she's gonna have to dance her ass off in that chair tomorrow
12:23because I am not into losing.
12:26Coming up.
12:27What about doing, like, a bodysuit?
12:29Are you crazy?
12:30It's good to see Connie stand her ground, but I'm not the bitch to f*** with.
12:34And later.
12:35You're a natural performer.
12:37I gotta say, hey.
12:39Drag you, are you ready for me?
12:42It's a miracle.
12:44Drag you.
12:49It's time to go back to the drag lab and start figuring out Tasha's look.
12:53Tasha's worst feature is her attitude.
12:56First order of business.
12:57Do you love it?
12:58I love from the neck up.
13:01I don't like the gown at all.
13:02Just looks like a muumuu.
13:03What I'm thinking is an empire waist always accentuates the good parts of you, like your
13:07boobies, you know, and then it hides the areas that you are not very excited about.
13:12The way it looks right now, I'm not digging it.
13:14It's tough to work with somebody who's such a Debbie Downer because it's bringing me down.
13:18Tasha really needs to tap into her positivity if she wants to win this.
13:22But you just have to.
13:24Trust me.
13:25What do you think?
13:25I love it.
13:26Beautiful.
13:27I like the mesh.
13:28Brandy and I, we have a super look.
13:30French.
13:31A little exotic.
13:32And that fits her.
13:32She has a little bit of flavor already.
13:34Might not be rich and creamy, but it's spicy.
13:36We're gonna put balloons in your hair.
13:38They're balloons?
13:39Mm-hmm.
13:39I love it.
13:40So Tammy and I decided we're gonna go completely with the way that the avatar looks.
13:43I love the platinum blonde hair.
13:45That was awesome.
13:46Oh, that's just terrible.
13:48You think so?
13:48Oh, God.
13:49Well, don't you?
13:50I mean, come on.
13:50Actually, I see all the positive in it.
13:53I see all the negative.
13:56Strike one.
13:56Um, I don't like this.
13:58I don't like that.
13:59I don't like this.
14:01Strike two.
14:01Okay.
14:02And I don't like that.
14:04Okay.
14:05And strike three.
14:06You know what?
14:06She's pissing me off.
14:07I think that there's a lot more positive in this than there is negative.
14:10Look to the positive.
14:11Don't look to the negative and, you know, stew in that.
14:14If it's so negative, fix it.
14:16I absolutely love this look.
14:19Drag is about an illusion.
14:21Contouring your body with clothing is a great way to appear thinner.
14:24Big hair, small face, big boobs, small waist.
14:28Obviously, you grew up looking at yourself in the mirror.
14:30Yeah.
14:30And there's a lot of confidence issues.
14:32And I think that may be part of you growing up always in the shadow of your sister.
14:36But I've just met you.
14:37And I think you're beautiful.
14:39Tasha really needs to get over her insecurities.
14:41And I need to lift her spirits back up.
14:43Turn.
14:44Do you see how we can make it really tight here and accentuate goodies that you have?
14:47Because these are goodies.
14:48Do you trust me?
14:49Yeah.
14:50Okay.
14:50Do you love it?
14:51We'll see.
14:51Okay.
14:52Don't be scared.
14:53So, you had a band?
14:55Mm-hmm.
14:55The band's name is Stiletto.
14:56Okay.
14:57And how long has it been since you haven't been singing the Stiletto?
14:59Oh, gosh.
14:59I stopped singing the Stiletto probably about five years ago because I had my baby.
15:02So, your goal is to regain your glitz and glamorous side and then have a band again?
15:06Yeah.
15:07And then also the modeling?
15:08Ultimately, sure.
15:09I want to prove here at DragU that I can do anything.
15:12That I can take risks.
15:13That I can conquer a couple of my own insecurities, perhaps.
15:16So, as an entertainer, you know that facial expression has a lot to do with things, right?
15:20Oh, absolutely.
15:21Excenuating.
15:22Excenuating.
15:22Absolutely.
15:24Articulating.
15:24Yes.
15:25Brandy and I have similar eyebrows, so we both have big foreheads.
15:28So, I show her different things you can do with your face when you're on the stage.
15:32Let's pretend we're an orangutan.
15:36How about a piece of watermelon?
15:39Glamour.
15:42People laugh when they see me because of my expression.
15:44So, if I can install that in Brandy and help them have the audience eat off the tip of your
15:47finger, why not?
15:49It's one of my tricks that I do that I'm so well-known for.
15:52First, I thought Tammy Brown was nuts about all these silly, crazy expressions that I'm supposed to make with my
15:55face.
15:55But then I thought it's all about having fun with yourself, having fun in the moment, and not being embarrassed.
16:00I think that the other ladies are having a hard time with that.
16:02I do not want you to let your daughters win.
16:03I know they're both winners and I know they're both gorgeous, but honey, this is mama's time.
16:07My mother would never let me win.
16:09She'd be like, I love you, but this is a competition, so guess what?
16:12Move it or lose it, sweetie.
16:13All right.
16:13The things that have gotten in my way is my age, my weight, my glasses.
16:17Right now, I'm feeling very tired.
16:18If you're really not happy with the size of your hair, like if you don't like that updo, what about
16:23doing like a big Cher?
16:25You know, whoa.
16:26Yeah.
16:27I mean, it's going to be sickening.
16:29Yeah, I like that.
16:31What about doing like a bodysuit?
16:32A what?
16:33A bodysuit.
16:34Are you crazy?
16:35A bodysuit?
16:36Why not?
16:36Cher wore a bodysuit.
16:37No.
16:38I hear bodysuit and I think of skin tight and then I think of my body and my stage fright
16:43and no.
16:45It's good to see Connie stand her ground, but I'm not the bitch to f*** with.
16:49I'm not going to wear a bodysuit.
16:51It seems to me like you keep pushing away from a lot of things.
16:55Like you didn't even consider it.
16:56As I'm telling Connie about the bodysuit idea, she got kind of an attitude problem.
17:00She needs to get it together or I'm about to quit.
17:02You need to open up your mind a little bit more because it's frustrating.
17:05I will not lie.
17:07Like it's frustrating.
17:08Morgan, she was getting bossy.
17:09You know, I'm pretty easy going gal, but if I get frustrated, I will put my foot down and I
17:14won't do it.
17:15Don't get bossy because I'm going to come back to bite you.
17:18Just imagine.
17:19Huge hair.
17:21And the bigger your hair, the thinner your face.
17:23And your boobs are going to be pushed up and they're going to be pushed out.
17:26Push the buttons.
17:27That's what being a drag queen is about.
17:28Taking that little step further and being like, no, I'm not going to do it this way.
17:32Two words.
17:33Body.
17:33Suit.
17:34No.
17:38It's time for the professors to leave these ladies to work it out.
17:40For Connie to drag you, it was top honors.
17:42She's going to have to do everything that I tell her to do, starting with adjusting that attitude.
17:49Coming up.
17:50This is an ugly color.
17:51I mean, according to the picture, I was getting red.
17:53This is mouse brown.
17:54Take it or leave it.
17:56Okay.
17:58And later, our visiting professor, Meredith Baxter, is here.
18:13There is so much left to do today before performance time.
18:17I don't see how it's going to get done.
18:18So, Ma, what are you going to do on the lip syncing part?
18:20Actually, the only part I have to do are those two lines.
18:22Yeah, so why are you bitching?
18:24I've got like 19 verses I have to learn.
18:26And you've only got two lines?
18:28And you get to sit the whole time up there sweating bullets.
18:30And this is what I have to deal with?
18:33Woo-hoo!
18:35Good morning, ladies.
18:36Good morning, Dion.
18:37Wow!
18:38I feel so underdressed.
18:40So, I think we should put this as a belt.
18:42Well, honey, whatever you say goes.
18:44That's a good attitude.
18:46Oh, I have faith in her.
18:47I'm starting to work on my attitude.
18:50This is an ugly color.
18:51I don't like this at all.
18:52I mean, according to the picture, I was getting red.
18:54This is mouse brown.
18:57It's not red.
18:58It's like pukey brown.
18:59I really need you to stop being negative,
19:01because it's really taking a toll on me.
19:03I'm trying to help you, and you're not letting me.
19:05Everything I tell you is not good enough.
19:07I mean, take it or leave it.
19:10Okay.
19:11I got really mad.
19:12I walked out on her.
19:13Trust I did, because girl knows if a drag queen cries,
19:16all hell fall loose.
19:18When Angina went off on me and stormed out of the room,
19:21I was furious.
19:22That's what I'm supposed to look like,
19:23and this is what I'm getting.
19:25I mean, does this look anything like that?
19:26It's ugly, but I'm at the point now.
19:28F*** it.
19:29I'll go home now.
19:30Let's do some walking with some of those expressions, too,
19:32because we're going to have to walk the runway.
19:34Okay.
19:34I wanted to make sure, as her professor,
19:36that she could, you know, blossom and take home the prize.
19:39And seeing the way she performed,
19:40it's like, let's take this further now.
19:42I challenged her to move her caboose a little bit
19:44when she walks.
19:45Move your butt a little bit like this,
19:46and swirl like this.
19:48It's a little scary for Brandy,
19:50and I can tell she doesn't want to go down in flames.
19:54Hey, Brandy.
19:55Have a seat.
19:56Well, you seem to have so much drive.
19:58Where's that come from?
19:58My dream is to perform.
20:00I love being on stage.
20:01I want the brightest spot.
20:01Now, what stopped you from continuing your career?
20:05I took a back seat, you know,
20:06tried to be around to raise my children.
20:07So now, I'd like to start getting back into the swing of things.
20:11So, Brandy, je ne sais quoi draguation.
20:13You gonna turn it out?
20:14Gonna turn it inside out.
20:17You know what?
20:17When you say that, I believe you.
20:19Your vibrancy is so refreshing,
20:21and it's exactly what we want to hear.
20:23Awesome.
20:24I had a breakthrough sitting with RuPaul,
20:26and having him look at me face to face,
20:27and telling me to continue on with my performing,
20:29he obviously saw something immediately,
20:31so that was huge for me.
20:33Brandy, you're dismissed.
20:33Thank you so much, sir.
20:39I'm like shaking.
20:41Can you look at me for a second?
20:42I'm really sorry.
20:44I didn't deserve to have that.
20:46No, I know you didn't deserve it.
20:48Do you forgive me?
20:49Yeah.
20:49Because I really am sorry.
20:51I know.
20:52Okay.
20:52So, I went backstage, and I found you this wig.
20:56Are you happier with this?
20:57I am very happy that I got my red wig,
20:59and it looked beautiful.
21:01I'm so sorry.
21:02You're gonna look beautiful,
21:03and you're gonna do amazing.
21:04To come from being a negative person my whole life,
21:07and then have to be Miss Molly Sunshine in a day,
21:10it's difficult.
21:11But I'm trying.
21:13That's why I'm here.
21:14So let's get to work.
21:17Well, hello there.
21:18Have a seat.
21:18Now, what does Thunderella mean to you?
21:20Now, it means power and commanding respect.
21:24Those are the components of Thunderella.
21:27How does your perception need to change?
21:28I need to quit worrying about what other people think,
21:30and worry about what I think.
21:32And once I can come to terms with that,
21:35everything else is cake.
21:36Fat-free cake.
21:37Double chocolate.
21:38You know, lightning doesn't strike twice.
21:40This is your one chance to show that Thunderella has the power.
21:44Bring it.
21:45I'll bring it.
21:46RuPaul had some great advice for me.
21:48Today is my chance to bring everything that I got to the table.
21:51Thank you, Tasha.
21:52You're dismissed.
21:53Thank you, sir.
21:57I'm in my room getting dressed for draguation, and I was called to the main stage.
22:02Connie has had a breakdown, and she wants to speak to anybody but me.
22:05Don't cry.
22:05It's okay.
22:06This is you going back to the girl you used to.
22:08Is that why you're upset?
22:09Pretty much.
22:10This is your opportunity to show yourself that just because your hip hurts doesn't mean you
22:14can't be the diva.
22:15I'm a mom.
22:16I'm not an entertainer.
22:17You are an entertainer.
22:19You had two daughters to entertain for years.
22:20Yeah, but that's different.
22:21No, it's not.
22:22Entertaining children is ten times as hard as entertaining adults.
22:26Getting up in front of people, knowing that I have to perform is terrifying to me.
22:30You don't have to look to the audience.
22:32Look up at RuPaul.
22:33She's very calming.
22:34Connie is very overwhelmed.
22:35I think that I can carry her through this, but she's really going to have to put in a
22:38lot of effort.
22:39It's no easy ride here at DragU.
22:41Be confident.
22:42Be a bitch.
22:43I can do that.
22:44Don't stress that.
22:45I got to.
22:46Okay.
22:46Thanks.
22:47Love you.
22:51Hey, Connie.
22:51Hi.
22:52It's been a tough school year for you, hasn't it?
22:54Yes, it has.
22:55Why is it so tough for you?
22:56I'm really nervous about the lip sync, and I had a meltdown.
22:59The fact that you're here means you want to do it, but it sounds like you give up easily.
23:03Has that been a pattern throughout your life?
23:05No, just recent.
23:06Probably because I'm just at my wits end with my health, my weight.
23:10You know, Connie, you walk with a cane.
23:11How are you going to do it, Draguation?
23:14I'm not going to use it today.
23:16Well, I have to applaud you because, you know, you could have used the cane as an excuse.
23:20It's that determination that's what's going to do it.
23:23Free your mind and your ass will follow.
23:25Yeah, it will.
23:26It really will.
23:27When I went up there, I thought, okay, I'm going to see the principal, and she's going
23:31to flunk me, but Rue had really good advice for me, and I took it to heart.
23:35All right, Connie, you're dismissed.
23:36Okay, thank you.
23:37See you at Draguation.
23:42Once my makeup and hair was coming together, I immediately loved it.
23:46If I'm ready to bring the performer back, I can be a mama, and I can be that stage queen,
23:49too.
23:50I never saw my mom on stage before, and I'm really excited, you know?
23:54Tasha feels that she lived in her sister's shadow.
23:57She needs to get over that and knock her sister down to the ground and win this competition.
24:00When I get on that stage for the first time, I just want heads to turn.
24:03I want people to see me and go, oh my goodness, she's hot.
24:07Seeing Tasha done up as a drag queen, I can't even imagine, and so this is going to be just
24:12a total transformation.
24:12It's going to be fun.
24:14Going out on that stage without my cane, I'm feeling a little nervous, but I'm going
24:18to do it because I didn't come here to quit.
24:21It's going to be a blast seeing Connie, my mother-in-law, doing something like this.
24:24She usually stays home with the kids, so to get out and do something so unique is going
24:28to be great for her.
24:29Now that Connie's seen herself dressed up, she really feels a lot more confident, and
24:33I really hope she brings the game to the table.
24:36It would make me even more proud if she won.
24:39Win.
24:43Ready or not, it's time to drag you eight, bitches.
24:47Drag you eight, are you ready for me?
24:50It's a miracle, drag you.
24:54Faculty, friends, and family, please welcome your Drag U professors, Angina, Morgan McMichaels,
25:00and Tammy Brown, and the president of Drag U, RuPaul.
25:12Welcome to RuPaul's Drag U.
25:15Here to grade my girls are the faculty, our dean of drag, the lady bunny is here.
25:21Oh, thank you.
25:22Well, I'm a little bit nervous about today's show because, you know, family issues affect
25:26us all, and my daddy would kill me if he saw me in this dress.
25:31It's his.
25:35And our dean of dance, Frank Gatson, is here.
25:40And our visiting professor, America's favorite TV mom, the one and only Meredith Baxter, is
25:46here.
25:49Now, for the first time at Drag U, we challenged a mother and her two daughters to become one
25:55fierce family, and it hasn't always been easy.
25:57Now that the Draguation commence.
26:02Brandy used to rock, then she lost her role.
26:05Now she's amped up, and winning is her goal.
26:08Ladies and gentlemen, je ne sais quoi!
26:20I hit that stage and I felt on fire.
26:22The outfit, the attitude, they all intertwined together and came out and just made a bang.
26:28I saw all these faces, but the one that stood out the most was my little baby boy, Brandon.
26:32And the pride in his face, looking at his mama shining, was just priceless.
26:37I felt glamorous.
26:38I felt like a superstar from head to toe.
26:42Tasha lived her life in the shadow of her sister.
26:45Now a storm's a-brewin', and she's as powerful as a twister.
26:49Ladies and gentlemen, Fundserella!
26:58I was just empowered to see all the audience looking at me and smiling and applauding.
27:05It was a total high.
27:07My sister makes an amazing drag queen, but tonight, I was the pretty sister.
27:12Tasha needs to stop thinking that she's living in her sister's shadow, because she looks beautiful up there.
27:22Connie has her struggles, like arthritis in her hip.
27:25But now with a brand new attitude, she's gonna make it flip.
27:28Ladies and gentlemen, Beverly Hills.
27:35By pushing myself, I've learned that it takes hard work to have the life that I want.
27:42Even with challenges, I've learned that I can still be fabulous in my 50s.
27:57Beverly Hills, Queen Mother, I invite you to take your throne.
28:05And now begins your oral examination.
28:09Thunderella, tell me, was there an immediate transformation once you put the outfit on?
28:14Yes.
28:15I put it on, and it's like, look at me now.
28:19Now, in the past, you felt as though you were living in your sister's shadow.
28:23How do you feel now?
28:24Step side, sister.
28:29Je ne sais quoi.
28:31How does it feel being in the spotlight again?
28:33It's been too long.
28:34What do you think of how your mother and sister turned out?
28:37What can I say, Tasha?
28:38You're finally seeing how beautiful you really are.
28:41And, Mom, thank you so much for doing this with us.
28:44I know this is completely out of your ballpark.
28:49The Queen Mother, Miss Beverly Hills, is in the house.
28:54How did it feel working the runway without your cane?
28:57Actually, it felt pretty good, although I lost my shoe almost.
29:00You did?
29:00Yeah.
29:01I didn't see that.
29:01I know.
29:05But you really did push yourself, so I applaud you for that.
29:12Ladies, it's time to receive your first set of grades for Drag Transformation and Attitude.
29:19First up, Thunderella.
29:21Lady Bunny.
29:22I would say A for alluring, but the walk threw me off just a little bit, so I will say
29:29solid B.
29:31Wonderful.
29:33Frank Gatson.
29:34A solid B. I agree.
29:35Wonderful.
29:38Visiting Professor Meredith Baxter.
29:41I would have liked a little more attitude there, too.
29:43I'm going to go B+.
29:46All right.
29:50Thunderella.
29:50That gives you a drag point average of 3.11.
29:54Well done.
29:59Faculty.
29:59How do you grade Ms. Jenna Saquois?
30:02I loved your presentation in walk.
30:04I just had a little problem with the wig and dress not going together, so I say B.
30:08I give you an A-.
30:11All right.
30:13I'm going to go for a B.
30:17Jenna Saquois.
30:19That gives you a drag point average of 3.22.
30:23Nice work.
30:23All right.
30:25How do you grade Ms. Beverly Hills?
30:28I think you are one red hot mama.
30:33B plus.
30:35Well done.
30:36B minus.
30:41B minus as well.
30:45All right, Beverly Hills.
30:47Your drag point average is 2.88.
30:50Well done.
30:56That means Jenna Saquois is in the lead, followed by Thunderella and Beverly Hills bringing up her rear.
31:02But that all can change because it's time for your final drag examination, which counts for half of your final
31:09DPA.
31:09Now whoever kills it in the group performance could finish at the top of her class.
31:15Drag you on your head into me.
31:19It's a miracle.
31:21Drag you.
31:25When the judges braided us and I realized that I was only a point and something behind my sister, that
31:31made me realize, okay, I'm not the ugly sister.
31:33We're neck and neck here.
31:35I'm going to pull out all the stops.
31:37I do want to win.
31:38I do want to prove to everybody that I am the baddest bitch in school.
31:41I didn't come here to quit.
31:43Mama means business.
31:45In a moment, only one of you will drag you away with top honors.
31:50Ladies, let them have it.
31:57Now I make you out of my life.
31:59I'm going better.
32:00You thought that I'd be weak without you.
32:02But I'm stronger.
32:03You thought that I'd be wrong without you.
32:05But I'm richer.
32:06You thought I would excel without you.
32:07Don't not heal you.
32:08I'm a survivor.
32:10I'm not going to give up.
32:11I'm not going to cyber.
32:12I'm going to work harder.
32:14I'm a survivor.
32:15I'm going to make it.
32:16I'm a survivor.
32:17I'm a survivor.
32:19I'm a survivor.
32:20I'm a survivor.
32:20Wishing you the best.
32:21Praise that you are blessed.
32:23With the first message.
32:24And let's clap your hands.
32:25I'm better than that.
32:26I'm not going to bless you on the radio.
32:28I'm better than that.
32:28You know I'm not going to shoot on the internet.
32:31Cause my mama taught me better than that.
32:34After all of the darkness and sadness.
32:37Soon comes happiness.
32:39If I surround myself with positive things.
32:42I'll name my ideas.
32:43I'm a survivor.
32:45I'm not going to give up.
32:46I'm not going to tell her.
32:47I'm going to work harder.
32:49I'm going to be a survivor.
33:06You've all come so far, but only one of you can drag your weight with top honors.
33:13Falcatee, what do you give Beverly Hills for her final drag examination?
33:17It was not the most spirited lip-sync I've ever seen, but you got up out of that chair, and
33:24beauty knows no pain, so for the beauty, I give you a B.
33:30Frank Katzen.
33:31I give you a C+, because you did it, and I respect that.
33:39The fact that this was not part of your normal milieu, I thought you were outstanding.
33:47Wow.
33:49Falcatee, what do you give Thunderella for her final drag examination?
33:53This was more about the movement until that very last survivor.
33:58I didn't feel that you believed it until then, so I'm going to give you B-.
34:06The lip-sync was late, but you did it, okay?
34:08I give you a B.
34:11You were totally out of your element.
34:14There were times you were dying a thousand deaths, having to get out there, and I loved that.
34:22Wow.
34:25Falcatee, what do you give Je Ne Sais Quoi for her final drag examination?
34:30Lady Bunny.
34:32You're a natural performer.
34:33I've got to say, A.
34:37I'll give you an A-.
34:42You seem to feel, for the most part, very much at ease in what you were doing and a great
34:47deal of confidence, so I had to give you an A as well.
34:53Thank you, Falcatee.
34:55I've compiled your final grades, and we have a winner.
35:00With a final DPA of 3.55, the top draguit of RuPaul's Drag U is Je Ne Sais Quoi.
35:15I feel amazing.
35:16I feel on top of the world.
35:23I've always wanted just to be the one person, when you walk into a room, every head turns, and today
35:27that happened.
35:28I got my moment.
35:30Doing this experience with my daughters has been a once-in-a-lifetime thing for us.
35:35It's brought us closer together.
35:36It was really hard trying not to cry, because I didn't want my makeup to run.
35:40But yes, I felt very proud.
35:42Very proud.
35:44The time here at Drag U has definitely changed me.
35:46It gave me that spark, that final oomph, to go ahead and just push it over the edge and go
35:51for the gold.
35:52I think the whole family won.
35:53I don't think there's just one winner.
35:54We all had a really genuine experience here.
35:57We're going to take it home, and we're going to talk about this until we die.
36:01My family, they got what they were hoping for tonight.
36:04My mom looks fierce.
36:07I'm proud of my mom, and I love her so much.
