00:31I've got to get up, you guys.
00:32Yep.
00:33A new day and Michael C won the last challenge.
00:37I thought you were the one.
00:39I guess me too.
00:40You too.
00:41Well, I liked what I did.
00:43Michael C winning, I'm very confused about because Michael C's skills were not in line with the rest of us.
00:50The win is so good.
00:53I'm happy that we're all still here.
00:54I feel really, really good.
00:56It's about winning the Philip Tracy challenge, but it would have felt a lot better if some of the designers
01:02were like,
01:03hey, good job, Mike, good job.
01:05I didn't really get that from them.
01:07Like, everyone else did dresses and elaborate stuff, and she did a diaper.
01:11It's sad, Peach.
01:13Nobody understood my diaper.
01:15I got the diaper now.
01:16I'm so confused in this whole competition that the only thing I can do is just do what I do
01:20and then, like, not give a .
01:22You got a target on your back?
01:23And so do I.
01:34Hello.
01:35Hi.
01:35It's time for your next challenge.
01:37For this challenge, you will be working in two teams of six.
01:41Oh, my God.
01:44Wow.
01:44There will not be any team leaders, but you better be on the winning team because the designer who's going
01:50home will be from the losing team.
01:53Michael Costello, since you were the winner of the last challenge, you will get to choose your first teammate.
01:58I'm so glad I have immunity because I'm terrified about working in teams.
02:03Michael, who would you like to choose to be on your team?
02:06Gretchen.
02:08Michael Costello is such a dumbass for choosing Gretchen.
02:11Do you want to hire Hitler? Seriously?
02:14She is going to put her foot on everything that that team does.
02:19Let's see who will be the first person to choose from the second team.
02:25April.
02:28Crap.
02:28I don't want to be with Michael, but I'm really not crazy about being with April either.
02:33April, who would you like to choose?
02:35I'd choose Mondo.
02:36Gretchen, you will choose the next person for your team.
02:39Christopher.
02:40I choose Michael D.
02:42I choose Andy.
02:44Michael Drummond.
02:45I choose Valerie.
02:46I choose Ivy.
02:49I choose the Fantastico Casanova.
02:53I choose AJ.
03:01Last one sitting.
03:03Peach.
03:04Peach.
03:05This is your team.
03:08I look over on the other side.
03:10It's all of the self-proclaimed superstars.
03:13You have people who have won challenges.
03:15And they might as well be standing there with the Superman pose.
03:18And I am on this team full of underdogs.
03:22Okay, are you all happy with your teams?
03:24Yeah.
03:25Yeah.
03:25Good luck.
03:26And I see you on the runway.
03:27Let's get out of here, guys.
03:37Good morning, designers.
03:39Good morning.
03:39I am delighted to introduce Peter Butler, consulting stylist for Garnier.
03:43Good morning.
03:44Good morning.
03:44Your challenge is to design a six-piece collection that is on trend for fall 2010.
03:51Oh, my God.
03:53An entire collection.
03:54Seriously.
03:56All right.
03:57We have concepts and textiles.
04:00You were to choose one from each column to form the core of your collection.
04:05Under concepts, we have minimalism.
04:07We have 50s retro and ladylike shapes.
04:10Menswear for women.
04:12We have military.
04:13Within textiles and color story, we have gold or other metallics.
04:16We have camel, leopard and cheetah prints, plaid, and, of course, lace.
04:20Now, just as there are trends in fashion, there are trends in hairstyles as well.
04:25This is true.
04:26And Peter is our Garnier expert, and he's here to share what's on trend for fall 2010.
04:32Thanks, Tim.
04:32In fashion, hair is vital to complete the overall look.
04:36For fall, we're seeing hair length just below the shoulder.
04:39And as for styling, we're seeing some trends that are voluminous as well as softer pulled-back looks.
04:44And Garnier Fructis will help bring your vision to life on the runway in the Garnier hair studio.
04:49All right.
04:50I'm going to have the teams go off and sketch.
04:53You will have an hour.
04:55I want to encourage you to use your HP TouchSmart notebooks.
04:59And then we're going shopping at Mood, where you will have a team budget of $1,000.
05:06So, Peter and I are going to leave you, and you will sketch away.
05:10Bye.
05:17The first thing I wanted to say in general was, like, we should respect each other so much and be
05:22kind and listen.
05:23We don't need that.
05:24We don't need that.
05:24Why did you bring that?
05:25I brought it so we can look.
05:26This is my opinion.
05:28Menswear for women can work for all of us.
05:31I agree.
05:31I agree.
05:31Leopard and cheetah brings in you.
05:33My idea initially was to do menswear only because I think it's unexpected.
05:37I do not like the menswear because I think it can go flat and dead very quickly.
05:43I like military, but it is really right now.
05:46Yeah, really trendy.
05:46So you have to do a spin on it.
05:47Are we all cool with this?
05:49I think it's either of those two.
05:52Let's do camel.
05:53I think that's awesome.
05:54So the concept of our fall collection is menswear as womenswear.
05:59In the color story of camel.
06:01Military, raise your hand.
06:03I love design military stuff.
06:05I love lace.
06:06So for me, I feel like I'm like a fish in the water.
06:11Yes.
06:11Our team dynamic is we are going to create our own looks.
06:15Okay, I was thinking for mine of doing this jacket with a double off-centered collar.
06:20I'm thinking I can play off of that on my blouse.
06:22I want to make it sleeveless with the writing pant.
06:24So are we doing cream lace or are we doing black lace?
06:27No, black.
06:30So we have six looks to do.
06:32So first let's pick pieces and then we can break down who's getting what.
06:36Our team decides to delegate and assign projects to different people as opposed to doing an entire look.
06:42I could do the palazzo and draft the cigarette pant at the same time.
06:46Do it.
06:46So we want the palazzo pant.
06:47Let's analyze how we want that palazzo pant to look.
06:50I feel like the other team has cuckoo drama.
06:53So what I think we really need to do is like tailored and very like clean.
07:00I can clean things up.
07:02And you did.
07:02I do my shredded thing because I want to and this isn't about me.
07:06This is about us.
07:07My strategy here is just try to make something that works and is cohesive.
07:11I mean I could do something that's 100% me, but it's definitely going to stick out as not being
07:15a part of the collection.
07:16What about camel leather panels on the legging with the shirt dress?
07:19Yes, I like that.
07:20As soon as Gretchen throws an idea in, they're like, oh yeah, I like that.
07:26So even though Heidi said there will be no leader, Gretchen has become the leader.
07:32You guys, I'm so proud of us.
07:34We're working so well together, it's blowing the mind.
07:36We don't have time for that right now.
07:39Coming up on Project Runway.
07:41I feel like that is too safe.
07:44Michael C. doesn't know the fundamentals of creating a garment.
07:48You said you could do that, but it didn't work out.
07:50Ivy's going to get it and it's not going to be pretty.
08:04Tell us what you want to do and then we'll figure out how it all works.
08:06No, I'm not going to tell you what I want to do.
08:08Everybody's got ideas and rather than throw somebody out on the curb and say do whatever you want,
08:12how about you?
08:12No, that's not what I'm saying.
08:14It's a little frustrating when Peach is snapping at me because she has no reason to snap at me.
08:18I mean, we're all trying to work together.
08:19Okay, no time for arguing.
08:20Our challenge is to create cohesive six piece mini collection with, you know, six different creative geniuses.
08:29Yes, textiles.
08:31I feel like, I kind of like a cashmere feeling.
08:33I do too.
08:34And this has to be Lux.
08:35I feel like it needs to be really Lux.
08:36Yeah.
08:37Our name is Team Lux.
08:38We all mutually agreed on very rich, luxurious, tailored kind of menswear inspired pieces.
08:46I think it's good.
08:47All right, designers.
08:49We're off the move.
08:50Yay.
08:51Let's get off the move, everybody.
08:56All right, designers.
08:57Your 45 minutes begins now.
08:59Right, first thing we're looking for is wool creme.
09:04I almost feel like it needs to be like a navyish gray.
09:06I feel like it needs lightness.
09:07I feel like we need to be relatable for that.
09:11Cool.
09:11Got it?
09:12All right, here we go.
09:13Okay, okay.
09:13I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it.
09:15It worked!
09:17You have two minutes remaining.
09:19Go get in line.
09:20Go get in line.
09:23Yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:24Let's go.
09:25Designers, time is up.
09:28We do whatever we want to.
09:30We do whatever we want to.
09:33Thank you, Moon.
09:34Thank you, Moon.
09:36Bye, swatch.
09:42A little birdie told me that they saw the other team planning out their concept.
09:47And they're kind of doing it by pieces.
09:49And I just think that's the recipe for disaster.
09:51It's like when you have diarrhea and vomiting at the same time, you're screwed.
09:55How is AJ doing?
09:57Have you guys checked in with him?
09:58I think he's sewing right now.
09:59I just want to make sure that...
10:01AJ's on track.
10:03I'm a little worried for AJ just because I feel like his craftsmanship is still maybe not up to par.
10:10I am doing French themes and all this sheer fabric.
10:13It's probably some of the harder work that I've done.
10:16Do you like it?
10:16I thought you were going to leave it.
10:18I feel like that is too safe.
10:20In the past, the judges, they called my garment that it's too much drama.
10:25It's too busy.
10:28And in this challenge, I'm going to still be in Casanova with softener.
10:33The cowl is supposed to be cut on the bias.
10:34You don't need another piece.
10:38You look confused.
10:40I don't have the time to explain how something as simple as a cowl needs to be constructed.
10:45Michael C. doesn't know the fundamentals of creating a garment.
10:49This folds over.
10:50Folds over, right?
10:51And then it gets sewn together.
10:52Yes.
10:53Okay, I can do that.
10:55That's what you said the last time and you didn't.
10:57What?
10:58That's what you said the last time and you said you could do that, but it didn't work out.
11:02Ivy, she's going to get it.
11:04I'm going to explode.
11:05It's not going to be pretty.
11:07Um, I have to think about this.
11:08Um.
11:09Should we check with him?
11:10He's having a hard time and Ivy's being mean.
11:13Being mean?
11:13Mm-hmm.
11:14Okay.
11:14So, maybe we can, um...
11:17Coddle him in a little bit?
11:18Let's get with him and just support and nurture his...
11:21What's looking good.
11:22We're not going to just want that look.
11:23That's all I know.
11:24Yeah.
11:24Michael C. is a total time suck.
11:26I feel like it's fixable, but maybe if it was, like, more of a, like, that much.
11:31He doesn't know how to sew.
11:35I'm not playing no game over some boy that can't sew.
11:37It's becoming ever so clearer who's the weakest link that I'm starting to freak out a little bit.
11:45Coming up on Project One Way.
11:47This is looking very po-hum.
11:49The zipper's in the chain.
11:50It's got to be cleaned up.
11:51I'm going to be blunt.
11:53Casanova needs to be euthened up.
11:55It's a bull****.
11:56I'm f***ing tired.
11:58I'm f***ing tired.
12:24How do you feel this is progressing as a collection?
12:28I feel well.
12:29I think it's coming together.
12:30I feel really good about it.
12:32Here's the wrist with lace.
12:33It can look old very easily.
12:38So, Mondo, talk to me about your look.
12:40Well, it's going to be a short with these pleated pockets.
12:43I have to tell you, I'm crazy about the neckline and the sleeve detail.
12:47Crazy.
12:50Casanova.
12:51When Tim Gums comes to the workshop, I was pretty scared because he always says something bad.
13:00It's a lace top, kind of vintage, with a gold sash.
13:05This is my bag.
13:06I'm always doing, like, back, like, open bag.
13:13I'm going to be blunt.
13:14Casanova, your look is looking like the mother of these women.
13:22It needs to be euthened up.
13:25It's kind of frustrating.
13:27Once again, Casanova, you make another senior citizen garment.
13:31I don't know what happened with my taste.
13:34You all have a lot of work to do.
13:35Yes, we do.
13:36All right.
13:36Keep talking to each other.
13:39We will.
13:39Keep helping each other.
13:41We will.
13:41All right.
13:42Work hard.
13:43Work hard.
13:44Okay.
13:51So, generally speaking, how is it going?
13:53So far, so good.
13:55We have our concepts down, so I think it's a matter of constructing everything now.
13:59So, Gretchen, let's start with you.
14:01So, this is a princess-seamed kind of circle skirt dress out of a menswear camel stretch suiting.
14:11We're all doing roughly three pieces, and they all are within each other's looks.
14:17I'm actually incredibly surprised at how well we've all...
14:20But you're doing one piece.
14:21No, I'm also doing a grandpa sweater.
14:23I feel like I'm kind of in every one, even if I'm not the one sewing.
14:27All right.
14:28Well, Michael, why don't you talk?
14:29Well, I started out with just a cow neck, and I kind of liked it, but everyone likes
14:34the direction that it's in right now.
14:37The drape is more pleasing.
14:38Yeah, the drape is more pleasing.
14:39AJ?
14:40I'm doing, like, a men's suiting, like, shirt dress.
14:42We're going to do a woven belt.
14:44And are you giving this shirt dress details?
14:47Yeah.
14:48I think with the princess theme.
14:49And sleeves?
14:49Yeah.
14:50Okay.
14:53I feel a responsibility to all six of you to say this, because I've met with the other
14:58team.
14:59And by comparison, this is looking very ho-hum.
15:04I understand where Tim is coming from.
15:06However, I believe in us, and we can change Tim's opinion, and execute it beautifully.
15:16After the critique, I get, like, lost.
15:20Casanova, he has, like, a major, major, major diva moment.
15:26It's beautiful.
15:27But nobody who cares.
15:28Everything is a piece of .
15:30No, but it's just you.
15:31Every that I made is a .
15:34I'm tired.
15:36But, like, that's just baloney, man.
15:38Like, come on, dude.
15:38Put your panties back on and do the job.
15:40Like, finish what you started.
15:41Maybe I need to take a break, because I'm on the verge to lose my mind.
15:47I know.
15:47And do you know what?
15:48Do you remember?
15:49I'm tired, you know?
15:49I'm sweating too.
15:50Do you remember the, the, the, you know, the mini-mouse dance?
15:51I'm even getting fat.
15:53No.
15:54I was thinking, maybe this is not for me, because I'm not doing nothing good yet.
16:01New game plan, guys.
16:02Where is everybody?
16:03Okay.
16:04Okay?
16:05That's why no one wants to leave.
16:06Let's do it.
16:07What?
16:07He wants to leave.
16:08And we have to finish his dress form.
16:09We are .
16:12I would understand if you wanted to walk out on your own challenge.
16:15But, like, there's five other people that depend on you.
16:17So, if you don't finish, then we lose.
16:19And if we lose, one of us is going home.
16:23Coming up on Project One Race.
16:25If you don't turn this out, one of us is going to go home.
16:27Oh, my goodness.
16:28The other side, they are cray cray.
16:31Where the is AJ?
16:33Runway wars.
16:35Oh, you did some .
16:52I'm not ready for this.
16:54I'm not ready for this.
16:55Who is that?
16:55What the?
16:56Model.
16:58He's in the lobby.
16:59Maybe you can talk to him and bring him back, because, like, he don't want to come
17:03back.
17:07Hi.
17:08What's going on with the challenge?
17:10The only thing that they say is that it's for a lady.
17:15It looks like your mother, whatever.
17:18So I just need to take a break.
17:21All right, well, I just don't want you to let what other people are saying get to you.
17:25You know what I mean?
17:26You just have to do what you think is your best and what you think is beautiful, you know?
17:33My model, Sarai, she always have the greatest words.
17:38When I talk for a while, I feel better.
17:40It's your work.
17:42Maybe it's not something that everyone, you know, agrees with, but it's yours.
17:47And I just realize, oh my gosh, she's like an angel.
17:57AJ, do you have something your girl can try on?
17:59I restarted the back of my dress, so...
18:02You know?
18:02But I feel good about the proportion.
18:06I'm hating this blouse right here.
18:08Yeah, I'm not just standing the way it's falling.
18:09I had my blouse done, but the fit was so off.
18:15Michael, you have to make this work.
18:17I can make it work.
18:18There's a lot to do and things that I know AJ and Michael can't do, and I'm a little disappointed.
18:24If you don't turn this out, one of us is going to go home.
18:29Cut.
18:31Something like that.
18:36I need to make it work.
18:40Finally, I did.
18:42I don't know how, but I did.
18:45I think it looks cool.
18:52Good morning, design teams.
18:54Good morning.
18:54Good morning, Tim.
18:55You know why I'm here.
18:56You have two hours to send your models to the Garnier Hair Salon and the L'Oreal Paris Makeup Room.
19:01I don't have to say very much about the Piper line accessory wall.
19:04Style this superbly, everyone.
19:10Hi.
19:11Good morning.
19:11Good morning.
19:12The hair and makeup is crucial to the look.
19:14Garnier is going to just do a really soft, wavy curl, like elegant feeling.
19:19We're just kind of making it pulled back and a little messy like they've been in battle.
19:24Runway wars.
19:26Delivers.
19:27Yes.
19:28In 10 minutes, we're going down to the runway.
19:31Okay, we are really close.
19:32If we get these grandpa sweaters done.
19:34Go, go.
19:38Okay.
19:38Collar's on.
19:39Yay.
19:40Yay.
19:40And it looks pretty cool.
19:41So, our details are chains.
19:44Black.
19:45Oh, my God.
19:46This is so cool.
19:47I think the bad news there is they're going to pull it out.
19:50We just kind of came around kind of like a thief in the night and then it's like, bam,
19:53we just hit you.
19:54You didn't even know where it came from.
19:56Designers and models.
19:57Oh, .
19:58Ready or not, we are going down to the runway right now.
20:02Just finish it.
20:03We've definitely taken it on a more ambitious project.
20:05So, it doesn't surprise me that we've got the winning collection.
20:08They have a sweater called the grandpa's sweater.
20:12What the ?
20:13Is that it?
20:15Thank you, everyone.
20:19Coming up on Project Runway.
20:21It has new design.
20:22The colors are gassy.
20:25Someone's going down.
20:26That's the truth.
20:39And you know, the rules are going down.
20:39As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
20:43For this challenge, you worked in two teams of six.
20:47We asked each team to create a cohesive six-piece collection that is on-trend for Fall 2010.
20:53Alrighty then, let's meet the judges.
20:56First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
21:00Hey, guys.
21:01Fashion Director of AmeriClaire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
21:04Hi, everyone.
21:04And designer and co-founder of Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
21:08Hello.
21:09Welcome.
21:10We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
21:13One person from the winning team will be the winner, and one person from the losing team will be out.
21:19Alright, let's start the show.
21:27My design on the runway looks youthful and fresh.
21:30It's not as fashion-forward as I wish it could have been, but it is what it is.
21:40I thought maybe the chains and the buttons might have been a little too heavy, but it fits her like
21:45a glove, and I see the military without hitting you over the head.
21:50It's great.
21:54I'm really excited to see it come out.
21:56I mean, it's just so creative and so bold and so futuristic.
22:03I want to walk in it.
22:10I think it looks strong.
22:12It definitely stands out.
22:13It's very sophisticated and polished, but still edgy.
22:23I am a little nervous, though, about the hardware.
22:25I wanted to be in keeping with all the other designers on the team, so I added hardware.
22:29But, you know, I think it's a minor detail that they might have a problem with.
22:35When I saw my mother on the runway, she was stunning.
22:41The hair was awesome.
22:43The blouse flawless.
22:45The pants hot.
22:50As my piece comes down, I can see Georgina really staring at it, and it makes me really happy.
23:02I'm very amazed and very surprised and very proud of my team.
23:06I think we did a great job.
23:16I'm happy.
23:17I mean, I feel like our collection is cohesive.
23:20I still don't see myself anywhere in this, but I kind of figure that,
23:24with how strong the tailoring is in our collection, they have never wanted to worry about.
23:35I really focused on making sure I had a tailored, well-made menswear outfit,
23:39because that's what menswear is.
23:40Menswear is about tailoring.
23:42I think it looks sexy.
23:43I think she looks tall and beautiful.
23:45The hair is wavy and bouncy, and I thought my pants looked really good.
23:53It all looks like it came from the same place.
23:56It all looks like it has the same point of view.
24:00I think our collection has executed the challenge completely.
24:06It's a sophisticated design.
24:11I'm impressed with what we pulled out, especially with the amount of time that we had.
24:15I know we had 21 pieces that we made for our collection, and that's kind of ridiculous.
24:24I like the colors.
24:26These are colors that I know a lot of women wear.
24:28Very polished.
24:30Right now I'm just like looking between the model's legs, so I can see across the judges' faces.
24:35Do they like this?
24:36Do they not like this?
24:38What are they thinking?
24:44I don't think fashion means just costume and go big and tons of embellishments.
24:50It also means thoughtfulness and minimalism and not always in your face.
24:57We together thoughtfully created this collection.
25:00We worked as a team.
25:02Nobody slit anyone's throat.
25:04And we put together a line.
25:11And we put together a line.
25:14Mondo.
25:16Peach.
25:17April.
25:18Valerie.
25:19Casanova.
25:20Michael Drummond.
25:23Oh my god.
25:29Congratulations.
25:30You are the winning team.
25:31Yes!
25:33One of you will be the winner of this challenge.
25:35That means you are the losing team.
25:38One of you will be out.
25:40We are going to talk to the winning team first.
25:43And then we are going to call you back out.
25:44You can get to the runway.
25:51Congratulations again.
25:53Who would like to talk first about your look?
25:56We really wanted to make sure that this collection was a good balance between hard and soft.
26:01We wanted to make sure it was feminine and edgy.
26:04We also wanted to make sure that we each had our own voice in it while still creating a very
26:07cohesive collection.
26:09I am really proud of each and every one of us.
26:11I like this collection.
26:12I feel like it's young, it's fun, it has a spirit, there's some color in there.
26:17Each garment, it is very cohesive, but each has its own attitude, which I really like.
26:23And each design, you can see, comes from a different person, but it all works so well together.
26:29So, well done.
26:30Who is responsible for white pants and lace top?
26:35Casanova.
26:35I love that look.
26:37That I would do as is.
26:39I thought that it's super chic, it's hot.
26:41I want to be that girl.
26:43I have to tell you, Casanova, today, caring about couture quality, today, you needed it.
26:52It works.
26:53The workmanship really shows.
26:56And who did the blue skirt with the red top?
26:59The edging on that blouse, beautiful.
27:01So, again, kudos.
27:03Good job.
27:04It's one of the best things I've seen from you.
27:06I love to hear that you worked very well as a team and that it shows.
27:11Okay, we can leave the runway.
27:17Hell yeah!
27:18Oh my God!
27:20Good job!
27:20Good job!
27:25The six of you represent the losing team.
27:28And one of you will be out.
27:36The six of you represent the losing team.
27:39And one of you will be out.
27:42In your group, who would like to tell us about your collection?
27:44It was really important for us to thoroughly and truly collaborate rather than create designs individually.
27:52What we felt like that would allow us to do is enable everybody's strengths to come out and be supported
27:59where our weaknesses were.
28:01So, who is the weakest designer in your group?
28:04I see that's the hard thing is we all have such different processes and I hope you can be mindful
28:10of that when you make the decision you have to make.
28:14Because we worked really hard and I don't think there was a weak link. We all tried really hard.
28:22And I know that you have a lot to tell us, but I just really want you to think about
28:26that, that we all just really did the best we could for each other, for ourselves individually and for you.
28:35It's like having a baby and someone saying it's ugly.
28:39I think it's beautiful.
28:41I think we all think it's beautiful.
28:42I really do.
28:43Quite frankly, fashion is a tough competitive business.
28:47So, it's very commendable that you guys have this team effort, you know, going on.
28:51But I don't know if it worked for you because I think it took some of you down a notch
28:55and probably raised a few of you up a notch too.
28:58But you just ended up with vanilla boring.
29:01I mean, almost every single outfit has a proportion problem.
29:05It just doesn't have any sex appeal. It has no design. The colors are ghastly.
29:12To me, this look is the worst.
29:15The wackiest.
29:16That to me is the worst.
29:17Who made this look?
29:18I did.
29:19The third one.
29:20That's my look.
29:20The golden girl vest is just...
29:23The vest.
29:24The vest with those granny shorts.
29:27Oh.
29:27It's just unfortunate.
29:29Really unfortunate.
29:30What I would love to know is who made this shiny number over here that is a little bit air
29:37hostess.
29:38I did the shirt dress.
29:40I knew I wanted to...
29:40The horseback riding pants.
29:41I wanted to show you, even if you don't like it, that I can do somewhat tailored clothes.
29:46I don't just make these crazy outrageous looks.
29:49And it felt like, for me, an appropriate time to do it.
29:52Is it interesting?
29:53It's not interesting.
29:53Is it hot?
29:54Is it fashion forward?
29:55What is it?
29:56We very late in the game realized that grandma had arrived.
30:03And so...
30:04That's not how you felt when you came out here.
30:05No, it wasn't.
30:06Well, we were trying...
30:08I mean, I think...
30:08So who styled each and every...
30:11I mean, I understand that you guys all had different hands and...
30:15I'll take responsibility for styling, but I also feel like I had to style maybe a crappy collection where I
30:24was like trying...
30:25To save it.
30:26To save it.
30:27What do you mean you're trying to save it?
30:28Before you loved it.
30:29Right.
30:30I agree with Heidi.
30:31You said you loved it.
30:32Yeah.
30:32What do you mean you're saving it?
30:33Well, I think we loved...
30:34I mean, I feel like...
30:36Gretchen, you are a sportswear head.
30:38Since this is so your world, then who had the hardest time where it isn't their world?
30:45Who do you think had the trickiest time dealing with this?
30:48Um...
30:49I think Michael did.
30:50I had to work with him so much that I had no time to focus on what makes me strong.
30:59I feel like we all just tried our hardest and we don't know who to pick because nobody was on
31:04their game.
31:05There's not like a you were the worst on your game. It was like everybody sucked.
31:10And...
31:10It's true.
31:11Ivy, who do you think is the weakest designer on your team?
31:15Objectively speaking, I think probably each and every one of us took a lot of our time to help Michael
31:22out.
31:22And the thing is, I don't know if it's laziness or just ignorance.
31:26But Michael has immunity for this week, so this is all a waste of time.
31:31We're talking about the five of you over here.
31:35We have to make a decision today who is going home.
31:39At this point, I don't think we have a clear answer for you.
31:42I think you'd have to go by what you know of us individually.
31:46You know that's not how it works.
31:48I do know.
31:49This isn't about past history.
31:51It's about what we're looking at today.
31:53That's the truth.
31:55Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
31:57We're gonna have a little chat, and then we bring you back out.
32:00You can leave the runway.
32:16God, okay.
32:17You guys don't want to talk about it?
32:19I'm not gonna talk about it.
32:20Was there, like, some arguing?
32:23Well, no.
32:23It just came down to it.
32:24Eventually, they were like, who do you think is going home?
32:26You have to pick.
32:27I mean, I feel like, for the most part, people were pretty honest about how they felt, and
32:31I think some people just got their feelings hurt, but...
32:33I mean, I just...
32:34We can keep talking in circles about this.
32:37We just failed.
32:41All right, let's talk about the winning team.
32:44A lot of these designers have been in the bottom.
32:47Mm-hmm.
32:49So, it was great to see that they really stepped it up a notch and made a real interesting show
32:55today.
32:56It was fun.
32:58Cohesive.
32:58It worked well together.
33:00Hard and soft.
33:01Sexy.
33:02And I think, within the team, everybody expressed themselves, but in a manner that didn't hurt
33:08anybody else, and I think that's a really great thing.
33:10I have to say, I'm so excited for Casanova.
33:14Yeah.
33:15He just completely turned it all around.
33:18The other surprise was Peach.
33:19Yeah.
33:20She entered modern times.
33:22They surprised us, period, from front to end.
33:24Well, they were the underdog.
33:25Yeah.
33:28Let's talk about the losing team.
33:30Okay.
33:31This was actually a really good group, and I thought that they were really going to come
33:34up with something amazing, and they were so weak.
33:37I mean, piece after piece.
33:38They were the farthest thing from Lux that I've ever seen, to be honest with you.
33:42It was really horrifying.
33:43Gretchen had a lot to say.
33:45Gretchen had too much to say.
33:47Well, and Gretchen changed her tune pretty fast from, we were so proud.
33:53We love it.
33:53We love it, too.
33:54And three minutes later, this is garbage.
33:57Yeah.
33:57Certainly easy, of course, you know, to throw someone under the bus who has immunity.
34:03Right.
34:03Like, okay.
34:05Michael C.
34:05Let's pick him.
34:06Michael C.
34:07He doesn't know how to sew.
34:08He doesn't know how to drape.
34:09The guy's a loser.
34:10Yeah.
34:11So we're just going to chuck him under the bus.
34:13Yes.
34:14When you think about what Ivy made, I mean, that look was unbelievable.
34:19He will say yes.
34:20Bad vest with those shorts.
34:24And then AJ, first off, he totally gave up his design aesthetic today.
34:30I mean, everything that he's about as a designer, which is fun and witty and joyful.
34:36And he made the least amount of pieces.
34:38He made one piece.
34:42They designed all with their hands being handcuffed together.
34:45That's the saddest thing about the whole thing.
34:48Well, it's like jumping off a bridge and everyone's like, well, I'm going to drown.
34:51Let's drown together.
34:52Yeah.
34:52I mean, you've got to be smart.
34:53You've got to be self-sufficient.
34:55Yeah.
34:55They weren't.
34:59All right.
34:59So we've made our decision.
35:05Okay, let's bring them back out.
35:14One designer from the winning team will be named the winner.
35:17And one designer from the losing team will be out.
35:28One designer from the winning team will be named the winner.
35:32And one designer from the losing team will be out.
35:36We have to pick one winner.
35:38And that winner is Casanova.
35:44Congratulations.
35:46We told you.
35:52You really stepped it up.
35:55Your teammates loved your look.
35:57And so did we.
35:58You've been listening to us.
36:02Okay, winning team.
36:03You're all in.
36:04You can leave the runway.
36:06I wasn't expecting, like, to win the challenge.
36:09But when Heidi say that, she make my night.
36:14Congratulations, Casanova.
36:16Congratulations.
36:16Well, it's not about me.
36:18It's about all together.
36:23The six of you represent the losing team.
36:26And one of you will be out.
36:32Michael, you have immunity today.
36:34And therefore, you're in.
36:35We'll keep the runway.
36:37Good luck.
36:44Hey, Michael.
36:45Hey, Mikey.
36:46What's up?
36:46Well, we know you're safe.
36:47I'm safe, but I just feel, like, really, really sad about everything, guys.
36:52Like, everybody was just going after me out there, and it just felt like .
36:55It felt so bad.
36:58It really hurts.
37:01Christopher.
37:04You're in.
37:05You can leave the runway.
37:12Ivy.
37:15You're in.
37:15You can leave the runway.
37:22Andy.
37:24You're in.
37:25You can leave the runway.
37:33AJ.
37:34Gretchen.
37:36One of you will be out.
37:40Gretchen, you did the most backpedaling.
37:41It seems like to us that you made a lot of the decisions on this team.
37:45And most of them were unfortunate.
37:50AJ.
37:51You spent most of your time making an ill-fitting flight attendant shirt dress that opened your
37:56team's runway show and, unfortunately, set the tone.
38:05Gretchen.
38:05Gretchen.
38:10Gretchen.
38:12You're in.
38:18You can leave the runway.
38:25You're safe.
38:26Yeah.
38:26Barely.
38:27Pretty near that you wouldn't be out.
38:29Yeah, but they called me.
38:30They called me out.
38:31I take responsibility for the things they called me out.
38:35I'm sorry, AJ.
38:36That means you're out.
38:38Thank you all so much.
38:39I appreciate it.
38:43Okay, Daisy.
38:47I don't think I deserve to go yet.
38:49I would have felt better going if I had left for something that was my point of view.
38:55And it's a really hard and big pill to swallow to know that you're going home for something
39:02that doesn't have a trace of you in it.
39:05The only regret that I have is that there's not any of me in what I went out for, but...
39:11Sit for a minute, AJ.
39:13I have a few words for Teamworks.
39:16I fundamentally do not understand your behavior and demeanor and affect on the runway.
39:24I don't get it.
39:26I don't know why you allowed Gretchen to manipulate, control, and bully you.
39:31I don't understand it.
39:34And AJ, you've taken the bullet, and now I have to send you to the workroom to clean up your
39:38space.
39:43Whoa.
39:44Tim's kind of right in what he says, and I don't think Tim just says things just to say.
39:49I think it kind of made all of us have an aha moment.
39:55We're going to miss you.
39:58I'm not a manipulative person, and it really, really hurt my feelings to have Tim say that to me.
40:05Because I just wanted to help.
40:07And in the end, AJ said he wanted to make a shirt dress.
40:10It didn't have to be a boring shirt dress.
40:12He could have made any type of shirt dress.
40:16It's sad to see AJ go because it was Gretchen's fault.
40:19You're still going to give him hell, baby.
40:20I know it.
40:22You always do.
40:23And she manipulated him, and she should have been the one going home.
40:29I feel like that this is an amazing experience.
40:32Something I'll never forget, and something that's going to make me a better designer in the future.
40:41Next time on Project Runway, it's time for your next challenge.
40:45You will have new models, and quite a task ahead of you.
40:49I'm my pants.
40:53It's way too much.
40:54It's like a great, big, oversized bra.
40:58I am freaked out.
41:00I have a little surprise for you.
41:02It's pretty bad now, and it just got worse.
41:05Yay!
41:05We're trying to make her look like she's at the church.
41:08Bring a pot dinner.
41:09Your look was not the least bit flattering.
41:11There's nothing sexy about it at all.
41:13It's not good.
